The salon itself is beautiful...very artsy, chic, and full of positive energy. What stood out to me most was how well everyone worked together. You can tell this is a team that truly enjoys what they do and supports one another, which made the whole experience feel so genuine. I was referred to Mayko after seeing the amazing job he did on my nurse's hair, and I knew I had to book an appointment with him. It ended up being one of the best decisions I've made. I was beyond impressed. My hair had previous damage, and after speaking with other stylists who seemed nervous to even touch it, Mayko came in with confidence and completely put me at ease. He knew exactly what he was doing. The final result turned out even better than I imagined. He's definitely earned my loyalty. Nese, the owner, was also so warm and involved throughout the salon, helping wherever needed and making sure everyone was taken care of. This was easily one of the best salon experiences I've had, and it was absolutely worth the 45-minute drive. Looking forward to my next appointment.

I used to take my son to local barbers & the results were unpredictable. Sometimes my son was happy but the times he teared up were bad. I do fork the extra for my son's hair because he hasn't teared up since I started taking him here. His hair is done nicely every time except the side burns are usually uneven. His hair doesn't get washed or styled (he usually heads home to the shower anyways). He is covered in chopped hair when he leaves. Today, I finally decided to bite the bullet and give Illusions a shot, and I'm so glad I did! My appointment for a gel manicure and regular pedicure with Tina was at 1pm, and I got there a few minutes early. We picked out polishes and then started the pedicure before moving on to the manicure. I was there for about 100 minutes total (some of the reviews said three hours, so I was relieved). Tina is METICULOUS and so nice. She has been doing nails for 30 years, and it shows! She was able to recommend what would look best, my cuticles look amazing, and the pedicure didn't even tickle me like it normally does. I paid $70 for both, and tips are cash only. This is not the place for an upscale, pampering spa day--it could use some updating, instruments didn't come in sterilized peel packs, etc.--but the price is right for a standard and high-quality mani/pedi.

I am on the hunt to click with someone- moved here from CA where I had my amazing hairstylist in Orange County for 15 years. Here in VA I've been almost 3 years, and no one comes close. I digress. So the young lady in the front (looked out of high school- blonde, awkward two tone hair) was aggressive and said I was with a level 4 so that's the price because he's an amazing stylist. Well I didn't get my hair styled I got roots done! Yup, just my roots. Ridiculous. They didn't care that I didn't know it would cost that much and they looked at me like I was crazy. Wow- what a rip off. I won't be returning and I'm sure other stylists are great but their pricing, & level system is completely nonsensical. Beware!!
