Front desk receptionist is very attentive. i also observed that each stylist was very very careful and detail oriented. They care about their clients and their work. My stylist was Minh. He fixed my bad haircut within minutes. I was amazed how a few cuts and trim can transform my hair. I wanted a brighter brown balayage and Minh surely delivered! It was perfect and just what I wanted. While doing my hair, a lady told Minh that he transform and made her daughter felt great about herself. I thought that was sweet. I made an appointment for Saturday at 9:00am. I arrived 5 minutes early and was told the stylist would be there soon. After waiting 15 minutes past my appointment time, with no update I went to the front desk. I was told "this isn't like her to be so late, I can call and see where she is". I politely declined. If you can't show up on time or call to say you are running late, I don't want to give you my business. Just had an amazing haircut and color by Valerie. I have very long, very think hair. Most stylists can't handle it. I have been going to the same salon for 15 years in Dulles but my normal stylist not longer works on Sunday. Decided on a whim to check this place out based on the reviews. I only went in to get my roots done because I don't trust many stylists with my course thick hair. BUT Valerie was amazing. OK let's start off that I went to this salon because 4 of my coworkers had recommended it and all have beautiful hair. However, none of them visit Fay, apparently. I got a last-minute appointment with Fay on Thursday evening. I told her I wanted ~2 inches off the bottom, showed her a picture of what I wanted, and somehow I got swindled out of $55 for a MULLET. Yes, you read that right. I paid $55 for a MULLET. From the front it looked like a cute (but very blunt) bob above my shoulders, which was already too short. Then for some reason it was kept pretty long in the back. I left the salon & proceeded to freak out in my car for ~15 minutes once I realized how bad it actually was. I actually walked back into the salon, which is something I never do, and told them I hated my hair & that it was awful. The manager came out and "fixed it", but that was essentially trimming the front unnecessarily and trimming the back. My formerly long hair looked like a 90's soccer mom with a shoulder-length bowl cut. It. Was. Awful. I left the salon upset still and ended up going to yet another stylist at a different salon to have my hair fixed. I completely wasted $55 on a haircut that made me embarrassed to be in public. read more

I booked a hair appointment last month and I couldn't be more regretful. I should have known by my consult to just get up and walk out but I was trying to be patient and I was very excited for something new! The lady who did my hair did an awful job and I'm still paying for it every day as I try to style my hair and it looks just awful. I booked a color and cut which was much needed since I hadn't done anything to my hair since my sons birth, over a year ago. My hair was super long and in need of cut and color. During the consult I showed the lady three picture. Two I liked and one of what I did NOT WANT. I made that very clear to her. I have thin hair and a widows peak so high lights at the front, base of my hair makes me look bald. Unfortunately, I spent 3 hours in her chair and paid several hundred dollars. I was almost in tears as she was blow drying my hair. She cut off more than 8 inches, when we had only discussed only a trim and bright blonde highlights (which I said I didnt want) at the very base of my hair, in front. I pointed this out to her as she was drying, she said she would fix it. She toned my hair making it look worse. I called the salon a week later explaining to the manager my disappointment. She asked if I wanted a refund but I really wanted my hair fixed. I should have taken the refund because I still strongly dislike my hair even though the manager "fixed" it. As I was in her chair I felt so uncomfortable, she wasn't friendly and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. I still ended up tipping for her time. I don't think these stylist keep up with the current trends. Normally when you spend several hundred dollars you at least get a nice wash and blow out but that didn't even happen. I know there are many stylists at this salon and I'm sure most of them are great but I wouldn't recommend anyone going here unless you already know who is doing your hair. I was there last year to cut my long hair, people aren't friendly at all, there was no hi, bye, but just stares. I was paired with a stylist, she was very chatty and nicer compared to the rest of people including ladies who seemed to be in charge. She didn't do a great job cutting the hair. She seemed to suggest the cut and style of her own hair which I didn't like. Took many months to grow my hair out, to get it cut the way I wanted. CURLY THICK HAIR and I walked out happy! I was like many of you, wanting/needing a haircut but terrified of trying yet another salon and walking out disappointed. I searched yelped for a few days reading through good and bad reviews when I decided to just go for G5. I called and made a SAMEDAY apt, and said a little prayer. THANKFULLY I was given an apt with Junior and found my new go-to. He listened to what I was looking for and understood my skepticism. He cut my hair perfectly so it fell right even when curly. ALSO, he took the time to blowout my hair as well, which I appreciated so much. (Most other salons will try to convince me to walk out curly because they don't want to pull my hair for an hour). OH and the salon gives a discount to new customers which was a plus! I even went back to Junior for a full color and he mixed up exactly the color I wanted. I am so happy I found him. Sometimes you just don't gel with a stylist and this is one of those times. I made an appointment weeks in advance with Sonia, who specializes in curly hair. I let her know I wear my hair curly and straight, although mainly straight since my hair is unmanageable curly, and I shared pictures of me with my hair straight. She said this would be an easy cut and fix. She cut my hair curly. Unlike my previous stylists, she said there was no need to straighten it and tweak as needed. She was confident it would style nicely and said I could come back if I had a problem. I should have realized there was a problem when she styled my hair curly, and I thought it looked like a frizzy mop. I attributed it to the rainy weather and hair shock. When I got home and straightened it, it was extremely choppy and didn't lay well at all. The bang I asked for looked more like hair that was in the awkward stage of growing out. There was also a clear disconnect between my front and back hair I called up the next day to come back and see her to correct, and was told I would have to wait a week.... I pushed to see someone else and then pushed again to ensure I wouldn't get a junior stylist. She was able to add my requested bangs and tried to blend my hair a bit more, but unfortunately i just have to wait for most of it to grow out. Super unfortunate experience because I really liked the person who tried to correct my hair and the salon seemed nice. But it's hard to move past an original haircut as bad as the one I got. read more

We had a family wedding celebration on Sunday of Labor Day weekend & had trouble finding someone to do our hair. (Grandmother, Aunts & mother of the groom) G5 fit us in to our delight! We were all very impressed by the salon & staff. Clean, welcoming & friendly. And they made us all look FABULOUS! Older ladies looking for a slight glam look. I made an appointment over one month ago for my brother's wedding .My daughter and I get there around one o'clock , our appointment was for 1:30 figured let me get there a little earlier maybe they can get me in earlier . The lady came out for my daughter's appointment on time . After they took my daughter I waited for about 15 to 20 minutes and nobody came to get me still . I finally went to reception. I let her know I was in a bit of a rush since it's my brothers wedding. She went to go check with Shauna to see what is taking so long. She never returned to tell me why it was taking so long. By 150 I go up to reception again, she informs me with an attitude that Shauna is running behind. At this point I'm Thoroughly upset . No one has come out to apologize to me for the delay no one has even bothered to ask me if I need anything . After being there for 30 to 35 minutes waiting with no one even coming up to me to apologize. I decide I'm not getting my hair done there. I went to check up on my daughter, her hair was almost done. Afterwards I go back to reception to pay and complain to manager about the lack of consideration. I ask the receptionist who the manager is and that I need to speak to her. The receptionist points at some lady who is in the middle of doing someone's hair. I go to her and ask to speak to her. I'm not sure if she even understood me. She never came to talk to me. As I'm paying a hairstylist comes up to the receptionist and asks if I have arrived for my appointment. I was shocked and frustrated I informed her that I have been there for 45 min and no one bothered to help me. That I will be doing my own hair. The hair stylist informs me she had no idea I was there, her customer even confirmed the receptionist never told the hair stylist I was there!!! I'm not exactly sure what the receptionist issue was, but she caused a hairstylist an appointment money in her pocket and a client. I was not treated like a valued client. She was passive, dismissive and rude. I will never come back to G5. read more

Valerie is without question the best stylist I've ever known! I'd follow her anywhere. The first time I saw her, my hair was orange-red from another stylist's attempts at blonde highlights. Valerie managed to make my hair look great! You can see the before and after photos - those are all me! A few sessions later I've gone from dark brunette to a great ashy blonde. Valerie works miracles :) I'd been trying for years to gradually go blonde and she's the only one who's been able to deliver. She won't fry your hair either - she's incredibly patient and doesn't rush the process. Not to forget, she also delivers on the haircut as well! I have been going to Emily for 3 years and completely adore her! Not only is she great at what she does she makes you feel super comfortable and really listens to what you want but also isn't afraid to tell you if what your asking for is going to damage your hair! When I first came to her my hair was completely damage it was over processed and fried from previous salons I had tried upon moving to VA, I have pretty hard hair to work on it's very fine and it's naturally dirty blonde/strawberry berry blonde and pulls very brassy which I hate and like to keep my hair a very light cool blonde which is not easy to get, Emily has completely restored the health of my hair and it's so soft and so much thicker now and the color is always how I want it!
