I usually get my hair done between Gene Juarez in Seattle or other salons in DC but I thought I should give the Ashburn location, near me, a try. First impression- Clean environment and appealing display of Kerastase shampoos and other hair products- which is mainly my reason for my visit along with my haircut recently. I was not greeted when I walked in with mask on - just a matter of factly interaction- I gave my name and that I had a hair appointment basically. Receptionist told me to sit down and my hairdresser would be out shortly to fetch me. I was slotted for a 45 minute appoint ment and 5 minutes already past before I was ushered in. Hairdresser came out to fetch me- again no introductory greeting though of course I knew her name when I set up the appointment initially. She washed my hair and shampoo and told me she was allergic to Kerastase and she would be using another product instead even though I shared I prefer and use Kerastase and will be trying and purchasing a new Kerastase product. I was okay with it and understood it was an allergy issue for her. Haircut was reasonably priced but could have been styled better, added more texture and better length like the picture I showed her for model. Hairdresser who I met for first visit was okay, was engaged but talked about herself mainly through the duration, which was okay. She seems to be knowledgeable about styles and techniques but also rushed at the same time, which resulted in average service to me. She spent 30 minutes total with this haircut. I think in a service oriented industry- aiming for excellence is the standard and, upon reflection, I did not get that at this visit. Now, I'm on fence about future visits. I thought about it, let it sink in for 5 days before reviewing but I have to say, I haven't moved either direction so staying at 2.5 (3)... staying on fence! read more

I have been to this location twice now, would've been a third time but this location is poorly managed and flippant with their policies. My first time here I had a balayage done by Ruslana in 2015 which didn't come out any way I had explained and showed to her. She basically styled and coloured the way she wanted to and cut my hair much shorter than I asked so obviously I asked for a refund. After jumping through many hoops and speaking to several representatives I was refunded. I had my hair fixed at PR and Partners in Bethesda, Maryland (great staff at this location) I have a friend who works as a great balayage artist there and he was surprised that they did not try to fix their mistake and almost didn't want to give me a refund. Now in 2018 I wanted to get another balayage done by a different artist that was added to this location. Very talented. They scheduled me 2 weeks in advance for his appointment and I anxiously awaited. He phoned me the day of the appointment to cancel saying he couldn't take me because it is store policy that if someone gets a refund they cannot be taken as clients any longer and good luck... I was not told this over the phone upon booking, it doesn't say anywhere on their website about this policy and they waited the last possible moment to cancel. I explained I was leaving on vacation the next day and was relying on this appointment! They turned me away nonetheless without an official explanation other than "my manager said its policy". I thought this was very unprofessional and rude. I was told it was the managers decision to not allow Kaan to take me on and to cancel just three hours before I was coming in. read more

I just had my first haircut by Michelle yesterday, and I could not be more pleased. I am *extremely* picky about my hair, as I have had it cut every six weeks for the last 52 years! I had my very first terrific cut by a British Vidal Sasoon-trained stylist who explained what my hair SHOULD look like and how it SHOULD feel and act in between cuts when I was 17 years old! It spoiled me forever. lol I have always worn it short to very short. When it's that short, there's not much forgiveness when it comes to cut and style. I have been looking for a long time for a great stylist (and have endured *plenty* of mediocre or just downright bad haircuts in the interim), and I have found my person. :) The vibe of the salon is great, and even my shampoo person did an excellent job. Even in other high end salons, I have had some pretty worthless shampoo people. Be aware though, you will, just like for any other quality product or service, be paying a premium price. I had an appointment for the salon five weeks in advance with Amy. I showed up 10 minutes late and apparently she was backed up so she went onto the next customer I was told by a young man at the front desk that they would not be able to take me today and could I come back tomorrow. This was after being booked five Weeks in advance at Christmas time. I had to drive 15 miles to get to the salon. There were no calls to see if I was coming. There were no apologies. I asked for the name of the manager. The young man at the front desk told me that they did not give that out although there are cards on the front desk that show who the partners are. They made a big mistake. They could have been polite about it, they could've apologized, They could have offered me a free cut or something to make it up to me. it didn't happen they asked me to wait an hour until the other person had her hair done. I did wait an hour 15. On top of the first 30. I had my hair done. Just color, no cut no blow dry. Again no apologies. Amy said she had no help and they overbooked her. She never even looked to see if the color was ok. I will never come back to the salon again. It is not about making a mistake about the timing, it is about the level of customer service. My first times around were pretty great. I spent around $250 to go from brown to blonde hair. Dawn, a student, was who was given to me- there was no Olaplex used so my hair was incredibly damaged. Otherwise, it turned out okay. It grew out to be incredibly uneven and orangey in color, and after a $70 simple trim by Ruslana, I scheduled another appointment with Jessica. I had test confirmations and had called a week ahead for my appointment. Fast forward, I get to the location in Belmont Chase only to find out that I apparently never made an appointment. I was confused and showed the people the confirmations. The told me I had an appointment scheduled for a day that I was on vacation in a different state- and I angrily told them that I had to take of work to come get my hair done. A few minutes later, Jessica had an opening and was able to do my hair. I asked her to give me silver hair, which she said would be "do-able." Over the phone, the lady I spoke to said I would pay $100 tops to have my hair change colors, but Jessica said what I wanted was a balayage (which I already had, I just wanted to change the color to silver blonde) and that I needed an Olaplex service for $35 even though Olaplex costs around $20. During the treatment, Jessica barely spoke and disappeared at some points, and during the olaplex, she had an entirely different person come over. It was painful at that point, and I was clutching to the armchair. Around 30 minutes of sitting later, the new stylist took me to a chair and asked me if "no style would be okay." Usually the stylist does a fun style, but this stylist didn't care enough to even curl my hair. I grudgingly agreed, at least thankful for my silver hair- and was INSTANTLY disappointed when I saw that my hair was the exact same it was before but slightly lighter. I said this, and Jessica came back and brought stylists over that said that Silver hair would make me look bad. I paid around $250 for wasted time. Not even a discount for their mistake, which they continued to make excuses for. Never going back, and I'll be doing my hair on my own from now on. I was feeling a new look, seeing how it had been over a year or so since I had done anything to my hair. I was asking my friend if she knew of anyone to go to and she had mentioned Sujin! I went in for an original consultation and told her she had free reign of whatever she wanted to do. She said she was gonna do tea lights, a balayage, and a money piece, and was most definitely cutting off my split ends. I was all for everything she said! For the rest of the consultation we did a test strand to see if I would lift well - which I did. The day of the appointment, I came in early in the day and ended up leaving when it got dark. Long review coming your way!! I was recommended by a friend to see Jessica to do my hair. So I set up an appointment with her. A year ago I had a terrible bleach job where my hair was literally fried & falling out in chunks. I ugly cried hard. I had nice long hair & I had to cut it just under my ears to try to save it some. Fast forward some I went a year without using any heat products, didn't dye it & I took damn good care of it. But my blonde had grown out so much there was a harsh line next to my roots & it was driving me insane. Like I've hated my hair for the past year, hated. So I came to Jessica. I told her I didn't care what color she did as long as it looked natural, blended the blonde & my hair was still healthy. Honestly she did such an amazing job. Very reasonably priced ($70) but lack luster results. I had an appointment for a 'designer haircut' but it was anything but designer. The stylist was rushing and didn't use much technique, 20 minutes into my appointment her next appointment showed up and she was concerned about getting to her next client or handing her off. The cut was shorter than I requested and not angled like I had asked. I showed her a picture of the same cut I previously had but this cut was much shorter. I have been coming to see Madison for a couple of years now. She has been so kind, flexible and real with me since I have known her. She makes it very clear what will and will not work for my hair, so that I can have realistic expectations. When I initially came in, I had red hair that I had dyed myself. She was able to take me from that red to a beautiful platinum blonde, which is not an easy task. Then, I decided to grow my hair and go to brown. She helped me transition to that, while educating me on the proper products to use. Most recently, we went back to a gorgeous purple red. Madison is extremely knowledgeable about cruelty free and vegan products, which is very important to me. I trust Madison so much, that I brought my daughter to her to get her hair dyed for the first time. My daughter got a cool pink color done, that she loves! I was in desperate need of a haircut and maintenance on my balayage, which I hadn't touched in almost 9 months (shame on me)! A friend recommended I go see Nargees at PR, and after seeing her work online I was convinced. I'm always a little nervous having anything done to my hair, hence the 9 months, but Nargees made the whole experience very comfortable and exciting. She was so patient and took her time, and trust me it is necessary with my long hair, which usually takes 4 hours to color, cut, and blow dry. I showed her a couple of pictures of the balayage I was going for and how I wanted to add volume to my hair. Nargees had great suggestions, I really appreciated her input and ideas! The color and cut came out great, I am so happy with the final look! Nargees has by far done the best balayage I've ever had. It is blended so naturally into my natural hair color, and was exactly what I was looking for, a mix between subtle but still noticeable. I love the layers and volume she added without losing too much length. The blow dry she did on me was also the best I've ever had, usually my thin hair will fall flat after a blow dry which is why I typically opt to skip and just air dry, but after she blow dried my hair I still had so much volume! As far as the salon itself, this location is great, the chairs and tools are very up to date and modern, I love the back massage you can get while you have your hair washed! The only cons about this experience was the music playing at the salon, they had some rock and "screamer" music on, which did not make for a relaxing experience. I requested that the music be changed to something that would make me feel less like I were at Hot Topic, literally anything else would have been fine, which they did, but after a few minutes another stylist changed it back. That was irritating and quite frankly rude! That aside, I have definitely found my new stylist at PR and highly recommend Nargees to anyone in need of a stylist! read more

First of all I had the best experience with Nargees! I've being going to PR in Maryland for years and when I moved to Leesburg I knew I had to make an appointment. I've had some horrible experiences with coloring my hair, so I knew I needed someone that could do some miracle work on my balayage highlights that were literally turning orange!! Nargees is amazing with handling damaged colored hair and transforming it into exactly what I asked for. She took her time to understand what I wanted and was very good at asking questions about what I hoped to achieve from the color. I showed her several pictures of blonde balayage styles and she was great about telling me what the outcome will be like, so right off the bat I was comfortable and at ease. I usually get really nervous when making drastic changes to my hair, but she made me feel completely relaxed. She explained to me what products she was using (very helpful) and gave me some great tips to manage the color. She gave me lots of time and patience as the process took hours for a color, cut, and blow dry. I love the fresh look she gave me!! Also, this PR is the first I've seen with reclining and massaging chairs while getting your hair shampoo and conditioned!! So so glad I gave PR a try! Saw such amazing reviews about Dave so I got an appointment with him. I told him I wanted something different but not too drastic. He gave me a beautiful cut that was a TAD bit shorter in the back and longer in the front. I told him I like a lot of volume and he mentioned that this cut will give me that look. The blow dry was good, but not great (I was looking for big hair) BUT after I went home and when I washed my hair and then styled it myself I was SO happy with the cut he gave me.
