Wonderful experience. I had my hair done by Rusty who is amazing. I felt like part of the family from the moment I walked in. Everyone was very professional and courteous. OUTSTANDING! This review is going to be so good, you might think I work for the salon, but I assure you I do not - my experience was just that great! #1 - Most importantly, my stylist, Ruthie, did an INCREDIBLE job. With the vague description of what I envisioned my hair looking like, she somehow exceeded my expectations. I was going for a radical change - cutting off 8 inches and getting highlights and a bob - something I have never done before. Ruthie did an amazing job of asking questions and taking my input throughout the appointment to get my hair exactly to my liking. She was also friendly and personable and made me very comfortable throughout the appointment. #2 - The customer service was impeccable. Everyone was extremely friendly and several different people made it a point to offer me drinks and magazines while I was waiting for my color to set. The esthetician, Alison, offered me a tour of the salon services after my hair cut, which I really appreciated. Finally, I mentioned to my stylist that it was my birthday and by the time I left, everyone in the salon had made a point of wishing me a happy birthday. #3 - The cost was comparable to other salons in the area, but I really appreciated that my stylist, Ruthie, was able to point out a less expensive color option for me to achieve the highlighted look I wanted when my first option was out of my budget. Long story short - I will DEFINITELY be going back and I recommend that anyone reading this review give the salon a try! :) read more

Rusty's Hair Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Hamilton, Virginia

I went to Rusty in desperation when my own hairdresser was out of the country for an underdetermined amount of time. He did a MARVELOUS job of styling my hair. I was very pleased. The only thing that about choked me was an $80 fee for the cut. About twice what I was used to. But when I went back to my own hairdresser when she returned, I gave her specific instructions how to cut the nape of my neck as Rusty had done. She butchered it because she wasn't listening! I decided right then that I needed to bite the bullet, pay the higher cost for Rusty, and change stylists. So I did. I have learned that he will be shutting down his current salon and returning to his original one at his home --17176 Westfield Pl, Hamilton, VA --703-600-9338. He will open at his new location Feb 13, 2017. I recommend him highly. read more

I find it great that I cannot respond to my comment. I have both equal good and bad reviews, as well as some middle of the road. I am giving my impression of the salon and am actually going to HIGHLY rate the CHI Salon. PLEASE HEAD OVER THERE THEY ARE AWESOME AND VERY CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED! I am extremely disappointed in this salon. I bought a groupon for a spa manicure and spa pedicure. Turns out that they discriminate against groupons. The first time I had called to schedule an appointment with a groupon they did not have an appointment available for about a week and a half. I called today not mentioning the groupon and they had an appointment available this Friday. If you're going to utilize groupon to promote your business you should not discriminate. I am someone who tends to tip more when I have a groupon. I am offended and disappointed. I have refunded my groupon through groupon, they were willing to forgo their refund policy due to the circumstances. If you do purchase a group on for this salon, do not mention it until you have physically checked out after your mani and pedi. read more

I would give my experience here one star were it not for Joy, my massage therapist. She was wonderful and this review is no reflection on her. However, the facial I received was the worst of my life. I literally have chemical burns on my face. I complained of burning during treatment, but the aesthetician said my skin was dehydrated and that was the cause of the burning. She proceeded to slop on some kind of masque which burned more and ended up my nose, blocking my ability to breathe. I was supposed to go out to dinner with family tonight, but now it looks like I will be staying home to nurse my second degree burns. Horrible. read more

Although my color was excellent, I had perhaps my worst haircut ever here in July. Once the stylist was finished I pointed out that the two sides were't even. She nicely shortened the appropriate side but it was still noticeably longer. By that time I was afraid to suggest cutting further as I didn't like the shape of the shorter side anyway as it looked hacked off. So, I decided to let it remain very uneven rather than risk having both sides cut in an unbecoming shape that was also too short. I was terribly disappointed as it seems like a lovely salon with a welcoming staff. read more

After searching long and hard for the right hair salon for my daughter, I was lucky enough to run into Rusty's :-) This by far has been the BEST experience I have ever had with a hair salon. The style and layout of the location is simply beautiful. They've done an amazing job creating an environment of true serenity and style. The staff is focused on attending to your every need, and it's shown not only when you walk in, but more importantly, throughout the entire experience! My daughter has already made it very clear to me that she won't go anywhere else...and I FULLY agree :-). Very pleasurable experience, and I highly recommend Rusty's! read more

I went to Rusty's Salon and Day Spa for a "day of beauty" as a treat for myself. When I arrived, the front desk people greeted me as if I was an old friend. They were friendly, warm and made me feel comfortable and glad to be there. My first stop was a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Raelyn, the massage therapist. She was wonderful!!! I have been to many massage therapists over the years and I can honestly say, hands down, she was the best! I won't be going anywhere else for a massage that is for sure. In addition to a fantastic massage, she showed me stretches and gave me helpful advice of what I could do on a daily basis to help my problem areas and relieve the stress and soreness that I live with. Next was my facial with Abbey. I have been fighting skin problems since entering menopause and was really looking forward to a facial. Abbey gave me the signature facial which was out of this world!! She took the time to listen to me and gave me some great advice for the hormonal acne I have been struggling with. The facial itself was so relaxing and afterward, I can't tell you how many people told me that my skin was glowing. I took Abbey's advice and started using the products she put together for me and my skin has never looked better. Her facials are more than just a treat; they are a necessity for me!! My last stop was with Bunny, the hair stylist. My grays are coming in fast and furious, all on top, leaving me with dark hair in the back. All the stylists I have been to in the past would color me blonde to cover the gray. Bunny was the only one that suggested we go with low lights and blend the gray in with my dark hair. Wow!!! What a difference that made with my complexion and actually made me look 10 years younger. I now have beautiful, natural looking hair with gray touches. Bunny listened to what I wanted and after the low lights were done, she gave me a beautiful new cut that flattered my face, so much better than what I had before. She is a fun lady with a bubbly personality and it felt like I was getting my hair done by my best friend. I want to give the girls at Rusty's Salon and Day Spa 10 stars, but can only do 5. They made my day perfect and the first thing my husband said when I got home was "WOW, you look fantastic!". It was because they made me feel fantastic!!! I'll be back!! read more

I have been searching for a salon since I moved to NOVA in 2008. I am happy to say that I have finally found "the one." Rusty's Hair Salon and Day Spa is clean, modern, and all-around amazing. I was offered water, wine or champagne almost immediately after sitting in my stylist's chair. And it wasn't cheap wine - it was very high quality and delicious! I highly recommend Terrie - she is a very talented stylist and colorist. I gave her a rough idea of what I was thinking in terms of cut and color and she knocked it out of the park! I have received so many compliments on my hair - even from strangers! I also have to give a shout out to the lady who shampooed my hair - it was the most amazing shampoo and head massage I have ever received. Between the wine, the shampoo, and the lovely conversation with Terrie, I left feeling relaxed and went ahead and booked my next appointment. If you are looking for a new stylist and salon, you can't go wrong with Terrie and Rusty's! read more

My make up sessions with Janeth are always amazing. I have had my make up done for years by other salons. She is the Best!

I am a 60 yr old male and workout and run daily. My wife has been coming to Rusty's salon for quite some time and one of the services she gets is a massage from Joy. Since Joy had been a nurse for over 20 years before becoming a massage therapist, we had her come in and speak to our employees about their health, especially as it related to sitting in front of a computer all day. I was so impressed that I decided to go in myself for a massage. If you need a therapeutic massage, you won't find a better person than Joy to give you one. Not only did she work on my knots and sore muscles, she explained the benefit of what she was doing for each area she worked on. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will go back again on a regular basis to keep things in shape. If you need someone to come in and talk about how to properly work at their job, give her call.....she even gives shoulder massages while she's there. read more

I've been going to Rusty's Salon for 2 or 3 years now and am extremely happy with the service I receive, Janeth (beautician), Joy (massage therapist), Kandy (hairdresser) and Val (hair washer - best scalp massages EVER) are fantastic! I have been to Rusty's twice now, the first time for a cut, and today I went back for color and cut. Sonia Houde is the best. I highly recommend Rusty's - ask for Sonia - you won't be disappointed!! read more

A friend and I found the salon on yelp when we were in Virginia for a wedding. We were looking to get our hair done for the evening. When we called we said one of us wanted a shampoo and blow out and the other wanted a shampoo and to have out hair curled. Though everyone was very nice the two stylist both seemed to think they didn't have time to do what we had actually asked for even though we had specified when we booked the appointment and no one told is that wouldn't be possible. My friend got a blow out and was happy with her results. I wanted my hair curled and since I was told there wasn't really time I was put under the dryer and then my hair was partially dried with a defuser. I left with my hair still wet. I have naturally wavy hair and could have done that myself back at the hotel. She also pulled my hair off to the side and it fell out before I got back to the hotel. Also while my friend was waiting for me she got her nails done. Just a polish change. Because all she got was a polish change they told her she was not allowed to use the dryer and had to leave the salon with wet nails. The staff was all very nice but I would not suggest making any last minuet appointments. I would hope that if things had been better scheduled we would have had better results. read more

I purchased a Groupon for a 60 min deep tissue massage. I have never had a more relaxing or rejuvenating massage experience. The massage therapist was polite and identified my trouble area right away and provided a tailored massage to alleviate my pain. Absolutely worth the purchase.
