I was in Ashburn to attend a wedding. The weather was bad. It was drizzling and naturally my hair needed care (with 24 hours left for the event). I yelped several places and I came up upon this haircare studio. At first, I was told there was no appointment; when I explained my situation Laura/Lauren (the lady who answered the phone) was extremely understanding, very kind, very prompt with her communication and she set up a quick appointment for me!!!! This not truly speaks to their commitment, communication and thoughtfulness. But it also speaks to the level of service on some level. Once the appointment was set up, I drove in (of course, finding the space for a newbie in that area was a little difficult - to locate them ) ....that incident too shows their support!!!! they were so kind. They walked right up to the carwash area, spotted my car and guided me back to their door. confetti and brownie points yet again. I was brought to the second floor. A young lady helped with washing my hair, and then I got moved to Umber's booth. Umber is super nice, efficient. She understood exactly what I wanted and delivered. I wanted my hair with a tiny curl inward and she did it. She also applied some products so that I could keep my hair perfectly styled just in case it started to drizzle! I walked out feeling amazing. My hair was done just right and I was ready for the wedding.... They have a good collection of hair products. I also found some really nice refrigerator magnets. I'm gonna start by saying I got this haircut from glow studios in 2024 so almost 2 years ago I wish I was able to post pictures to show how bad the haircut was they're sitting in my camera roll but won't let me post, maybe their staff has improved but honestly I received the worst haircut I've gotten in my life from this studio and unfortunately I'm still not over it like I thought I would be by now, I waited so long to leave this review because I didn't want to give it because I only went because my friend worked there at the time and I was just trying to support her work , so the first time I went I asked for a tone and cut, the color was fine for my hair but the lady cut my hair uneven it was slightly noticeably uneven I would say about 2 inches off when my hair was infront of my face, even tho that should've been enough for me not to go back for some reason I still decided to go back for another tone and cut but this time another lady, the lady I went to was super nice we talked the whole time I really did like her but as she was cutting my hair she told me to feel my hair and let her know how it felt at this moment I was pretty sure she barely cut the other side of my head of hair so then I told her it felt super uneven then she proceeded to gaslight me and her and another coworker tried to tell me half my head of hair grows thicker than the other and half my head grows more hair than the other THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THIS FOR BOTH HAIRCUTS!!! as if I don't know my head of hair for the past 20 years, she didn't fix my hair and since I was sitting down with the cape on still I couldn't see how terrible she has cut my hair until I got home, she had cut half my hair of terrible layers and forgot to cut the other half the same with layers, she had cut the layers terribly my hair became so thin, and then I had to go get my hair cut again at a different place to even it out and my hair is half as thin as it was, my hair was one of my favorite features it took my years to grow it out to my lower back and I care about it so much and I still miss it to this day, I held off of writing this review for 2 years because I really did like the staff they were nice and I told myself my hair would grow back and it'll be fine but it is still 2 years later and my hair is NOTHING of what it used to be and is still growing out from this terrible haircut I received I cried so much over my hair and I did tell my friend to tell the salon but they told me to call back but I never did because honestly no amount of apology's or store credits couldn't save my hair at that point so I left it, I still think the salon has a lot of potential the staff was very nice just unfortunately my experience shows me they are bad at cutting hair and this experience was with 2 different ladies, hopefully the salon has improved for their customers sake but unfortunately my hair had an awful experience here and it was genuinely the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my life and the worst haircut I've ever seen someone give in real life ALSO I would love to add that I gave both stylist very detailed instructions on how to curl my hair since my hair doesn't hold curl easy I knew they would just fall out if they tried to curl my hair like another other white person hair (I have Asian and white mixed hair) I was super specific with both stylists to tell them my hair needs a lot of moose and hair spray and my hair needs to be pinned after each curl I EVEN OFFERED TO BRING MY OWN SUPPLIES AND DYSON but they told em they can do it so I didn't they listened to everything I had to say then proceeded not to do it but to give me beach waves that I didn't ask for it looks like they only know how to do one type of hair and they're not diverse with styles they seem to only know how to do white people hair and they're don't listen to instructions I was super specific and if I'm paying for a service I would like to know if it can be done right instead of wasting my time doing it wrong and that's exactly what they did, they didn't listen to any of my instructions to curl my hair instead they did what they wanted or whatever was easier for them and gave me beach waves and didn't pin my curls when I wrote like so many paragraphs before I even got there asking if they can do it, they don't listen to instructions and they only give you the type of hair they know how to do, I don't think they're very talented and I genuinely have no idea how the girl that cut my hair got her hair license, I've never been so disappointed mad and hurt from a hair salon they did a terrible job on my hair and I definitely don't ever see myself returning, I wish this buisness the best and hope they can learn and grow from this mistake so it doesn't harm other clients read more

I went in looking for a new stylist as I'd moved to the area six months ago and had yet to find her/him. Until I stumbled upon this little gem of a salon. Spencer was my stylist for a simple cut and color with highlights. Her technique was superior IMO and she explained her process thoroughly as she went along. She was very pleasant to chat with and held conversation in a manner that benefited both of us. Spencer listened and performed as I asked her to pertaining to my hair. Meticulous in her work, she made sure the cut and color was to my liking. I walked out knowing I would be looking for her to be my next appt. *Edit* Changed from 5 stars to 3. Well apparently I spoke a little too soon on the color portion of my service. My husband is 6'1" and I'm 5'4" so he can see the top of my head. I had my hair done here three times. It always comes out looking great but the reason I'm updating this review is because after two months the situation still bothers me. The last time I went in, when I called for the appointment, the lady on the phone suggested that she block out the time for a dimensional color so that whatever I chose I would have enough time to get my hair done. I told her that I probably wanted balayage and she said that just in case she would block out even more time by putting a dimensional color to give me enough time. That total service did not take that long and it still looked great but when I checked out, Kara went up and told her to still charge me for dimensional color which is more expensive. I don't know why I didn't say anything then but it has nagged at me for the last couple of months. Just be honest people, I work hard for my money too. read more

What a hidden gem!!! Yes folks I went 45 mins to get my hair services. Let's talk salon. The place is trendy and clean. The entrance was fully stocked of hair, face, and body care items as well as candles! I had the pleasure of getting my hair balayage by Andrea. She does extensions too!!!!! The staff is pleasantly nice. I highly recommend Andrea, she walks you through the process and she can cut, color, balayage and extensions. She also can do curly hair. Her shampoo technique is relaxing. I am going to share some pictures that I took there so you can see what I am talking about. I hope you go there and get pampered like you should. I heard that they do facials there by an professional. That is my next to do! Every time i went to glow i had a pretty bad experience with the front desk/admin side. I've gone for numerous haircuts and colors (which i loved every time) and my eyebrows (which i also loved) but the front desk is atrocious and rude. And the vibe all around the salon is awkward and uncomfortable. None of the stylists aside from the one helping me seemed happy or friendly. One day i was getting my hair washed and the front desk girl came back and demanded she run my card before the service was completed because she had to leave. It was Saturday at like 2 pm! Super unprofessional. Other times I've waited for my appointment time and I've listened to some of the girls talk about their love/sex life aloud while I sat there not noticed. I've even had either the manager or owner help me check out once and she had no clue what she was doing. My stylist left and I'm following her. I've even been there and they didn't have any shampoo!!! They also offer med spa services which is extremely concerning seeing as it's not that clean and there's NO medical professional on site or even listed on their website. I'm originally from New York and been having a difficult time finding a deva stylist that's within reasonable distance. Alexa is very friendly and really cares for curly hair. I had an appointment with Emily recently for my first salon visit since before COVID and was really pleased. She's so pleasant and did an excellent job with my cut - I have thick, curly hair, and she was able to give me a great cut that looks good both curly and straight. I've tried a few other salons in the area and the stylists always thin my hair out without me asking, which I hate. There were no thinning shears in sight with Emily, and she was happy to work with my volume rather than seeing it as a problem to be solved. 'It is human to err", in other words, people make mistakes; however, it is important how one responds to mistakes made. I will say I did not really want to write this review/compliant but felt compelled to do so considering that I have yet to hear back from anyone with the salon. So, what happened? The salon has an event one Sunday a month dedicated to individuals with sensory or special needs to get a haircut. After coming across this, I figure it would be good for my son who is 2 and it can be a struggle to get his hair cut. We get to the salon for his appointment and at first was thrown off by how loud and busy it was considering it was a day for individuals with sensory sensitivities. Nonetheless we were greeted by polite staff and taken to the back where it was quieter. Kristen introduced herself as the person who would be cutting my sons hair. She was seemingly pleasant and patient with my son as he does not warm up to new faces quickly and was a bit anxious being in a new place. We got him settled on my lap and she begun to cut his hair as he looked at my phone. He began to squirm a bit towards the end, she said he can get down as he was done except for a few pieces she could get while he is standing (I am thinking maybe on top of his head). Once he stood up, she goes to clip a piece near his ear, and he lets out loud yell. At first Kristen thought she just scared him, but instantly blood came pouring down...she had cut his ear. Now we are trying to consul him and stop the bleeding with paper towels. Not sure if the salon had a first aid kit because someone had to leave to get bandages. He was crying and looked terrified as my wife and I attempted to stop the bleeding with no luck. We decided to take him to urgent care as he bled all over his car seat and clothes. We eventually, after a long stay at the urgent care, got the bleeding to stop and have been monitoring his wound to ensure of no infection. Ultimately, he may not even recall the event; however, as a parent it will be hard to forget the terror and pain on his face as he tried to understand what happened. What started off as possible positive event ended terrible marred with stress because of a mistake. But to me, what is worse, is that it has been over 3 days since I had to take my son to urgent care due to this mistake and have yet to hear from anyone with the salon to check on him. read more

She was easy to converse with and had a wealth of knowledge that she's gained through her own curly hair journey. I have never been treated so rudely in my life by Gretchen the Manager. they raised the price of a haircut and highlight by $75 and didn't say a word to me till I was home and noticed that it was $100 more with a tip! thinking I was paying the old price as usual. I walked in with a sinus headache and walked out as if I'd been to paradise! Not only were my sinuses clear when I left, I had just experienced the best massage I have ever had. Made great conversation and didn't try to get me to add extra services that cost extra, which is something so many salons do these days. I had a big "ask" for my stylist, Maddy: chop my long hair so that I had enough to donate, yet keep it short enough for me to pull back into a ponytail... AND give me low-maintenance color that helps me look polished in my professional life. This was my first time making such a big change, and Maddy kept it fun and light the whole time!! The atmosphere of the studio cannot be beat; there was such positive energy everywhere. (I need their interior decorator's name!!) I found GLOW while battling cancer. Chemotherapy was stealing my hair, and Amy at GLOW made what could have been a demoralizing experience into a joyful, positive moment in my cancer journey. On a Friday morning, my toddler and I were playing together and she accidentally pulled out a clump of my hair. I knew it was time to let it go, and called GLOW based on a friend's recommendation. They were booked, as they should be since they're fantastic, but when I told the receptionist I needed someone to shave my head, she asked me to hold for a moment and spoke to Amy. Amy found a way to fit me in that afternoon. She shared her story and listened to mine. She made me feel beautiful, glamorous even, and strong! She got me excited about all the new styles I could try once I kicked cancer's butt (which I have!) Everyone at the salon lifted me up. The salon itself is gorgeous and meticulously clean, which made me feel safe, even during a pandemic with a compromised immune system. I am incredibly grateful to Amy and GLOW and will cherish the memory of my shortest haircut ever. I am super excited to return as soon as my hair starts growing back! I was greeted with professionalism and a friendly staff. Their decor was cozy and unique. From barn doors, to fur foot stools. Not modern and cold like so many other salons. When you are in Glow, you feel like you're in a secret place no one knows about, and feel privileged to be in the group that does:) It's a place you can stay all day! Kristen, the owner, has been doing my hair for 5 years. She is the only hairdresser I have encountered in Loudoun County who is comfortable with blonde hair color. Kristen has cut my hair short, added extensions, and even added copper to my hair. I've always left happy with the end result. She is a hairdresser who you feel so confident in, you can try new hairstyles and color. Since Glow opened, I also tried their facial, which happened to be one of the best facials I've had in that it was also relaxing. The skin care products have also been great at cleansing and moisturizing my skin.
