This was the first time I had ever been to this salon but WOW! I hadn't had my hair trimmed or styled in over a year and a half. Courtney did an amazing job! I have never had anyone care so much about the finish product. She took her time to make sure there wasn't a single strand of hair out of place and did a fantastic job. She was extremely nice, personable and helpful. I will absolutely be coming back in 8 weeks to get a shape up/trim as she suggested so I can get to the look I want! Side note: I wanted to have a really drastic a-line bob. I have very fine hair, thick bangs. Courtney explained that because of my hair being so thin especially in the front where the length should be it would take a while to get the look I ultimately wanted. I haven't been this happy with my hair in many years! read more

This was my 10 year old daughter's first visit to Rain salon, and she loved it! Courtney was so kind and gentle with my daughter's hair. She took her time, and listened to my daughter. My daughter kept raving about Courtney after the appointment and comparing her to the other stylist she had been going to. We will definitely be returning to Rain salon to see Courtney! read more

Alba at Rain is AMAZING!!!!! Before I went there, I had gone to a different salon that did not understand what a balayage is.they RUINED me and left me with clown orange hair. I went to Alba, described what I wanted and she got it immediately. Told me not to worry and did her magic. I LOVED IT. I almost cried because it was EXACTLY what I wanted. Not a bad price either. Love the look of the salon and the honesty of the stylists not trying to push products on you. Already have my follow up scheduled with her. read more

Courtney is the best!!! She is very knowledgeable and offers suggestions about my cut. I trust her completely. She is also a lot of fun!! Thank you Courtney!!! Great Salon... everyone is delightful. read more

So I couldn't be more excited to write a good review for Rain Salon. I was super unhappy with my hair that I impulsively wanted to chop it off and change it, and me, being impatient, needed to do it today. Luckily Rain Salon was able to take me in. I mean, the place is super aesthetic and their natural products made me feel like a new woman. I had an amazing stylist who captured what I wanted and was super patient with me. Thank you Alba for transforming my unhealthy hair to something fresh and new. read more

I've had some traumatic experiences with new stylists/salons but after seeing my friend's incredible mermaid hair done by Bree at Rain Salon, I knew I had to give them a shot! I made an appointment with Bree for the next week and now several months in I can't imagine letting someone else touch my hair. First off, she's an absolute doll of a human being so it feels more like friend time than stylist/client time. Secondly, she's a total wizard with hair. I always leave the salon feeling like a beauty queen even if she just snipped off an inch and curled it. She's also super knowledgeable so anytime I have a question she's ready with recommendations! Bree will actually recommend different brands/products to me, so you know it's not just a salon-specific item (which I always appreciate). The staff is always nice and friendly when I come in and leave, so it's a well-rounded experience! read more

Before Bree I had had the absolute worst experiences with stylists and hadn't used the same person twice in a really long time. I told Bree that and my guess is her "Challenge accepted" meant something else in her head. When I sat down in her chair I was prepared for the worst. When I left, I had trusted her enough to color and cut it... for the last 16 years! You want someone who listens, understands, is sweet and funny, and an amazing colorist/stylist (even with crazy, curly and very moody hair)... BREE & RAIN! read more

So I have been wanting to go blonde for a while now and today was the day I made it happen. I had my appointment with Lori, and I DONT REGRET IT!! I am so happy with how it turned out. I had some Red in my hair and we were unsure about how it would turn out in the end. But after 3 hours (yes 3 hours) my hair was blonde and I am so happy! Thanks Lori for doing such an amazing job. I can't wait to go even blonder! The salon is very nice and clean and everyone is so friendly! You will not regret having your hair done here. I feel like a new person now, mainly cause I was a brunette before. read more

Rain Salon feels like spending time with a group of great friends who all want me to look and feel like my best self - strong, confident, and beautiful. I often book appointment times for after work, and it makes my week looking forward to my Rain Salon experience. Everyone is knowledgeable, friendly and professional. Lori has changed my relationship with my thick, wavy, coarse hair - I used to fight it! With her amazingly talented cut and color, every day is a good hair day read more

Decided to go darker for winter time, and instead of light brown (photo 1) the hair (that was highlighted) was colored spotty Auburn (photo 2). Went back to fix it, but it was toned dark brown and dull, flat color (photo 3). Got a partial refund for the messed up job. Now after couple weeks my hair starts looking Auburn again. Went to get second opinion and fix it, but it's going to cost $260+ and will need to be completely bleached. Not happy. As great as they were to create most beautiful highlights, the colorist completely messed up my hair when it came to getting it darker. So heartbreaking, both messed up hair color, and lost hairdresser. read more

All at Rain, from the Receptionists to the Stylists, are friendly and attentive. Amera and Lori are both great. I have never been disappointed with the end results. I highly recommend Rain. Early on a Monday morning, I needed my hair styled and walked into Rain without an appointment. Amera immediately agreed to do my hair. Great job too! Thank you! read more

I have been seeing Bree for 4 years now and just love, love, love her. I could not find anyone who could do my hair how I wanted when I moved here until finally I found Bree. Now my sister in law goes to her too. She gives great cuts and color. I will go to no one else. She is a must go to Alicia G. read more

I made an appointment for full highlights last Friday (01/15/21). I decided on this salon based on the Yelp reviews. My stylist was Alma. We discussed what I wanted and I asked for her honest opinion. She said what I wanted was feasible. I asked for suggestions as well. My hair did have some orange undertones that I didn't care for but besides that it was healthy. She explained she would get rid of that by doing highlights and low-lights to which I agreed. Anyhow, after she was done, my hair looked ok not bad but it was darker with green/grey undertones. She washed it one more time and applied some sort of product to make it a little better and said the color would light-up a little by the following week. Well, it has been more than a week and it hasn't happened. I doubt it will get any lighter. Again, the color is not bad but not what we discussed. I would also suggest for the salon to have some good music playing to improve the atmosphere and have some small bottles of water for the clients. The prices are ok, a little high compared to the West Coast but not terrible. read more

Lori was excellent. Did a fantastic job with hair color and cut and I enjoyed every moment with her! What a wonderful woman she is. She's found a customer for life now. Will recommend and send all my friends. Also will send my husband to her. Very well priced. Everyone there was nice. Just great experience. Highly recommend. read more

Wilma is absolutely amazing. She always does an awesome job on my hair. I have had my hair cut and colored and I have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, I moved to New Jersey and now have to find another hairdresser...which will be hard to find since Wilma is the best!! Just had a hair cut. The same is not bad and its aceptable. Does it look like the hair cut, I wanted and that I showed the stylist? No! Did she even make questions/suggestions to the client? No. she went straight to cut it. Made a comment about the layers and did her thing. At the moment of blow drying the hair she asked me if I wanted curl or just regular blow dry? Well the style has a wavy look. To me this is being careless about the look the client wants. So, I said curl so she said is extra cost which, I accepted. She took 5 minutes styling my hair. I knew from the moment she started that either she didn't want to do it or has cero intention to achieve the look. So, surprise! The curling iron was broken so she used the flat iron that later she mentioned it's not the ideal one for the look. Well final product whatever and not caring what the client wants. Comments! She said Next day will look better, well curls were gone 2 hours after. Here is my take. You are working as a stylist, do your best to be the best. Make sure your tools work, ask questions to the client. Make suggestions accordingly, tell the client if you can achieve the look or not, lets be honest, lets provide a good service, not mediocre one. Well, I won't be coming back, this is for sure. Neither my husband who has already stop going. read more

I am in town on business and was in need of a haircut. I searched for salons in the Ashburn area and it looked like Rain was well liked and that a men's haircut was $28 - what a great deal! My haircut was actually very good (4 stars!) I wish I could remember my stylist's name because talent-wise, was great. She was friendly, obviously experienced with men's cuts and took time offering consultation. She was aware I was not local from the beginning but treated me as if I were - in other words, she invested some time in figuring out what would make me happy. And I was happy. I try, when possible, to support small businesses and was happy to support an establishment like this. I also agree that skilled crafts people should be compensated for their skills. However, 150% of the posted on-line price is a little much even if it says prices are 'starting at'. I wouldn't expect such a disparity. But, my issue isn't so much with that, but with the very unfriendly, curt and condescending receptionist (0 stars!). When I walked in the door I was greeted with a 'what do you want'? Not a cute, playful one, but a stern scowling one. After my very pleasant hair cutting experience I went to pay and leave. I appreciated the receptionist telling a woman also waiting to pay her bill that I was next in line, but she was so unfriendly about it, some people have people skills and some do not. I don't think receptionist is the job for this lady. After paying my unexpectedly high bill I went back to my car to review the website and make sure I did in fact see a $28 quote (I did). So, I went back in to question the charge. I was told, again in her very condescending, what-do-you-want-now tone, that "the website says 'and up', and the stylist I sat with charges $42. Sorry, but that's how salon's work." Maybe so, but that is not the way to handle a customer's question. Clearly I was not satisfied, clearly she didn't care. If I were the stylist that cut my hair I would not be comfortable knowing that my customers would have to deal with this woman. If I'm going to pay a little extra for a haircut my experience had better be good from beginning to end and the receptionist really misses the mark. read more

Rain is great- they are always friendly and accomodating. Tracy is a rockstar. She is an amazing colorist (I always get compliments after she does it) and is up to date with current syles. She makes great recommendations for hair length and styles. read more

WORST HAIRCUT EVER! I asked for recommendations for a great stylist in Ashburn for short hair, I listened and when to RAIN Salon in Ashburn. Bree not working so saw "most experienced" stylist on today. So, for a discounted $50 bucks plus nice tip (God knows why) I look like a 90 year old with a round bowl on my head with the &"@"&$ looking sides that could ever be! So much for asking for advice! So much for Yelp ratings! I could scream, cry, and need to put a paper bag over my head!!! read more

I have been going to Tracy for about six months for color and cut. She does a wonderful job with both. My hair was a bit of a mess when I started there because I had been "attempting" to color at home, so it was not very even and was dry from the product I used. She has me back to solid color and my hair feels great, no more straw like feeling when I run my fingers through it. Love Tracy!!! read more

Rain Salon of Ashburn - Hair Salons Near Me - Ashburn, Virginia

I went to Rain based on the reviews and was very dissapointed! I asked long bob with side bangs, and ended paying $65 for a $5 look! It was blunt and uneven, and I ended up going back a week later to have it fixed. When I complained about the blunt and unflattering look, the stylist Lori told me, "Well you do have a lot of hair." After the second round, my side bangs were too short and cut straight across, and had an uneven chunk right in the middle of my face. She had cut them so short I couldn't get them redone for a couple of months. I got my hair recut by a different salon last week and the stylist told me that the back was uneven! Good grief. read more

Really terrific salon. Just got back from my first visit. Took my handicap mom with me. We've both been looking for the right salon in Northern Virginia going on over 3yrs now. This place really has some talent. They listen and they deliver. Pros: Great staff. Very solicitous. They do fiberglass nails! No drilling!!! They know color, even bleaching to platinum. The understand the difference between a haircut and a trim. Good prices. Cons: It's in a strip mall in Ashburn (but what isn't). Decor is a little dated. Not enough places to hang coats for the number of clients. Not a large selection of product for purchase; for hair or nails. Highly recommend. My mom was treated really well. The service was exceptional. We love, love, love our hair. Showed them pics of what we wanted and got even better. Fabulous! read more

Came here to have a color correction consultation with Tracy after reading good reviews online for her. Unfortunately, last week my old salon gave me a bad case of chunky yellow highlights on my ash-brown hair that made me look like Lily Munster. Then when I went in to have them fix it, they turned part of my hair bright copper-red. As luck would have it, Tracy's next apt cancelled so she took me right then to fix my hair. My hair color looks a million times better, and she was fun to talk to and super nice; AND I was in an out of there in less than an hour! The botched highlight job last week took 4.5 hours and cost twice as much. The salon had a friendly, fun atmosphere. I liked it a lot! I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Skillfully wielding her razor, Tracy Robinson is truly a master of her craft at Rain! I have found very few over the years that are as skilled at cutting my fine, straight hair and giving it dimension. I particularly sought her out due to her reputation for razor cuts and I couldn't be more pleased. She's an amazing stylist and colorist and you'll love her fiery personality, too. Highly recommend! read more

I'm not picky about my hair (probably because I barely have any, ha) and have been satisfied just coloring it myself in the past. But I needed some depth to my long, thin, all-one-color blonde hair and decided to treat myself to an expert. Courtney really examined my hair (and the not so expert coloring job I had done) and took her time to discuss at length what she would do. I left my hair in her hands, literally, and ended up with the most gorgeous, carmel contrasts. Then she gave me a fabulous cut to make my hair look like it had more body. I have never been this happy with my hair. And the color has lasted forever. On top of being a great stylist, she's the sweetest - and a very empathetic - person. read more

BEST HAIR CUT IN 10 YEARS: My first time at Rain and the experience was OUTSTANDING from the minute I walked in the door. First I was greeted by the receptionist, Whitney. She smiled, greeted me with a hello, asked how she could help me, offered me something to drink, and said she would let my stylist know I was here. She was very warm and friendly and immediately made me feel welcomed. It does not get any better than that. To the person who gave Whitney a negative review, maybe it was because you were having a bad day due to your traveling. Just a thought.... When I called to make the appointment I spoke with the manager and expressed my concerns and disappointments about many prior haircuts. I asked her advice on which stylist she felt could meet my needs and she recommended Lori. When I was introduced to Lori I was very impressed with the fact that she told me the manager had already shared my concerns with her. I made the appointment for a color and cut. Much to my overwhelming surprise, Lori said she did not think I needed to color my hair! She said even though it had been almost a year since my last color, in her opinion, my own color was extremely attractive and I did not need to spend the money. By her telling me this she was loosing business, but most definitely gaining my confidence that I was dealing with an honest person. We proceeded with the cut and Lori gave me the BEST CUT I HAVE HAD IN 10 YEARS! I LOVE THIS STYLIST! And, I can not close without talking about the sweet girl who did my shampoo, Renae. They call her "The Hand Whisperer"! She definitely deserves the title. Gentle, massaging, put you to sleep shampoo experience! THE BEST SHAMPOO I HAVE HAD IN 10 YEARS! I've been looking for a new salon and hair dresser to go to since my regular one moved out of the area a while back. After trying a couple that weren't bad I really wanted to find a place where I loved. After seeing the reviews on here and other websites I decided to give them a call and book an appointment. They do book up very fast so definitely book at least a week in advanced! That's a good thing because you know they are getting business if it's busy! I was paired with Melanie and she was fantastic! She really made me feel relaxed and comfortable. I showed her a picture of the haircut and color that I wanted (two tone) and boy did she deliver! We talked the whole time and she did such a wonderful job with my hair! I'm super picky about who I go to with my hair too. I was seen promptly and was offered coffee and water during my appointment as well. I will definitely be back and it feels so good to finally find another salon/hair dresser I trust completely. read more

It took me three weeks to decide to post this. I went in for a haircut and the hair stylist refused to cut my hair. I have easy to cut short hair. I asked her if she would just shampoo and blow dry it and she wouldn't do that either vFinally she agreed to trim my bangs and left them so short that I look terrible. My appointment was at 5:45. They close at five. I don't know what was going on there, but I don't recommend this place. They appeared friendly but really were not helpful. read more

Just popped in today for an emergency 'knot cut out' (daughter knotted her hair to the point of no return and now has some mini bangs for the first time in her life) and the staff was so friendly from the lady up front to the stylist, Amera, who helped us right away and did a fabulous job - you can hardly even tell there are little bangs! Great product selection too - Bumble & Bumble, Moroccan Oil, etc. We'll be back and you should try it! read more
