I first chose this salon because I heard they had great COVID policies. When I arrived, I called from the car so they could screen me before entering. Everyone wore masks and only about 6 people were in the building. Lots of shields and safety measures so I felt comfortable. The haircut I got from Abby was the best haircut of my LIFE!!! It's so hard to find stylists who know how to cut curly hair, and Abby's as a breath of fresh air. She gave me exactly the style I was looking for and tips on how to keep my hair curly. Yes - you will pay $60+ for a haircut, but (and let me reiterate this) it WILL be great. See Dena. She always does a wonderful job with cut AND color. I haven't had my hair colored in a while, but when she's done it in the past it's looked great. I've posted some pics (one of my most recent cut, one from a couple years back with cut and 2-layer color w/ highlights). I'm actually going back in the next month or two for a summer cut.. I will post more pics then. I can't speak to the skills of the other stylists, but, again, Dena has been consistently wonderful the past couple years. read more

I've been going to Hair Port for almost 5 years at the recommendation of my mom. Having curly hair, I have bounced around from person to person trying to find someone who knows how to cut it correctly. My mom and I see Ryan (her real name is Michelle and Ryan is her middle name). She is awesome! Always listens to us, makes sure we're completely satisfied. Does great color and highlights. I bring my 2 teens to see her as well and they love the cuts she gives them. I would not recommend this "salon" to anyone and if I could give lower than a one star I would. My sisters bridal party including I, went to have our hair done for her wedding and the manager Karen was absolutely abysmal. She was extremely rude to every single one of us brides maids. She made snide comments throughout the process. There was no waiting area so I was standing around for 30 min before even being taken care of. The hair stylist that did my hair was nice however my hair did not even last 40 min from the salon to the venue. The stylist was rushing to finish and while getting it done I had said multiple times that it felt like it was coming undone. It did after 40 min. I would never pay 75 dollars to have my hair done for it only to come out before the wedding and have to redo it myself. read more

I asked for highlights - my hair is very dark and I wanted bright red highlights. My whole head was bright red like woody wood pecker! I asked for a refund and the owner wouldn't even talk to me she had me meet multiple times with someone else. No refund and my hair looked horrible! read more

I discovered Sonia 2 years ago when my hair stylist in DC up & left. She totally reshaped my hairstyle & I loved it. When I told her I wanted to go pixie last year, she asked if I was sure. Comfortable, clean and calm atmosphere. Very well appointed - the shampoo chairs had a recline & massage function - it was great! Very friendly staff, a variety of beverage options including cappuccino's & lattes! Rates are very reasonable, too. My stylist was was exactly what I was looking for in a new stylist. She understood my hair right away, was very informative about what she had in mind and understood the subtleties of a short haircut with fine somewhat thin hair. No doubt I will go back; I think I have found the person and place for my hair! And it only took one try! I was referred to Hair Port by some colleagues - glad I took the recommendation! There website is currently just a landing page that says more info coming soon. I do think this should be a priority for them for visibility for new clients - especially for the rates. I had no idea how much I was going to pay for my visit but it was very reasonable. 4-stars because the website is not really informative but definitely a 5-star experience. read more

A terrific salon in a nondescript strip center near across Hwy 7 from Dulle Town Center mall. Great with hair, nails, massages, facials. Anna Michelle is the only hair stylist in the universe who has never ever disappointed my princess wife! Many salons are too noisy or too ritzy or too something. I've been visiting the Hair Port for over 13 years now. The staff are wonderful, caring and attentive from the reception areas to the shampoo stations. The owner is always around being friendly and professional. Now to the meat and potatoes...Michelle Jackson. Michelle has been doing my hair the entire time I've been going to the salon. (Except for like a hot second when she had to step out to deliver her baby boy and then came right back lol) She is a hair stylist extraordinaire hands down. She is my Edward Scissorhands of hair!! She just gets to work and mixes up potions and concoctions, cuts, dries and THEN that's when Edward Scissorhands comes out the dry cutting...snip, snip, snip.... VOILA PERFECTION EVERY TIME! Hairport Inquiry Does anyone know what happened to Hairport? I realize that they moved but considering they never answer their phone and their web site is devoid of any useful information, I have to assume that something went wrong with their new plans. My objective is to reach Kenza. She did a nice job with my son and my hair and it would be nice to learn where we can work with her in the future. If she is gainfully employed at hairport great but if they do not answer their phone, what can anyone do. I've never had such bad customer service without actually entering a salon! I called several days in a row to explain that their website wouldn't load for me on any of my computers / devices. The staff continued to say it was working just fine in the salon so it must be me. Then I requested simple bridal pricing and was told I'd have to speak to the owner who is away on vacation. They couldn't even give me a starting price or range. I don't know what is going on with this salon but I'll be moving on to an establishment that doesn't make me work so hard to become their customer. I'd leave a zero if I could. Adrea is the Best! However I had to stop going because of it being so costly. However if I wasn't on a budget, I would've continued going. Adrea would spend unconditional time with me in the beginning and really listen to my hair needs and concerns. She was very encouraging and made me feel comfortable at my first (most important) visit. Most of the staff were friendly, however, when my appointment was done on a few visits, I'd feel like I had to rush to give them my money. Sometimes too, you'd get someone who seems put out if they're asked to explain the details of the bill, something I'd like to know if I'm paying $280.00! I have been going to Hairport for over three years now. I would give it five stars if it weren't for the owner. She has NEVER once said a kind word to me, smiled, thanked me for my business or even bothered to greet me. The one time she did call me, it was in reference to an appointment I missed (yes, it was completely my fault) and she treated me as if I had killed her puppy. I immediately apologized and offered to pay for the missed appointment and she was nothing short of rude and aggressive. read more

I would highly recommend Dawn for facials and Reid for eyebrows! I have had nails and a hair cut here as well. The manicures do not last for more than a day (the pedicures do last for weeks though) or two and the hair cut seemed over priced for what I received...that said said the staff and stylists have all been very polite. read more

When I was in high school, I always went to get my hair done at Hairport for homecoming and prom. But when I've gone there since then, usually for cut and color, I've been completely disappointed. The last time I went (about a year ago), I asked for low lights. Specifically, I asked them to pull my natural brown out more. This stylist dyed my hair black-brown and gave me two skunky white blonde streaks. I was crying as I left, and all she did was hold the door open. It took two days of calling and meeting with the manager to get my hair fixed. And even then, my hair ended up burned to a crisp and red. I loved Hairport so much, but I will never go there again. read more

Specifically I've been seeing Angela Marie Cherry there and she is a very talented young woman, that will give you the color and cut you ask for - every time. It's the kind of cut and color where often I'm asked while in line somewhre shopping, where do I get my hair done. I'm having a bit of a 'hair emergency' as Angela Marie left while i was out on vacation. Disappointed today when I tried to book a mini foil. I only wanted a few low lights. I recently had a full haircut and mini foil at Hairport and was thrilled. I liked it so much I wanted a little more of the color. I was told that mini foil is an add on service and I must pay for a full service of some sort like shampoo cut and blow dry. Well, some of us can't afford full service. I'm a school teacher on a budget. The receptionist made me feel badly. By the way I have been a customer if Hairport on and off for 25 years. I take my college age daughters to Hairport. I will be taking my business elsewhere from now on. Hairport should recognize it is better to work with people than to make them feel badly when they only want something small done and to nickel and dime people is not the way to do business. read more

First off, they scheduled my appointment at the wrong time and with the wrong stylist. Ok I can live with that, but I asked the front desk how long the available stylist had been working here. I also inquired on her specialty and training. All seemed to be in order. So I went ahead with the appt. When I sat down at her station she had a Paris Hilton Extension certification award.....I was a bit concerned. She was nice but not qualified as advertised!!! She was terrible and expensive. I drive up from Richmond once every 4-6 weeks to see Sonia. I love it! She does an amazing job and gives me exactly what I ask for. I've read the other reviews and have this to say: 1. Bright red highlights are gonna be....BRIGHT. Most places will offer to fix your hair if you go back within 48 business hours, but no salon is going to give you your money back without having a chance to at least correct the miscommunication 2. $70 is nothing for a hairstyle (not just cut) and any stylist worth their fee will want to dry your hair to see how it's going to lay and if anything needs to be corrected (remember when you were 14 and cut your bangs wet, only to find out how SHORT they were when they were dry?? same concept). This is why you can't just get a cut w/o a blowdry. Sonia essentially cuts my hair twice -once wet and then when its dry she texturizes it so it lays perfectly. It is pricey, but I only get my hair done once every 6 weeks so its not too bad. read more

I love Elizabeth here, she always does a great job and seems to match my haircut and color with my personality...meaning, I never feel uncomfortable with how I look walking out of the salon. It can be pricey, so I spread cuts and highlights out as long as I my hair can stand. A friend of mine went here and saw another stylist who did some extra treatments on her hair before giving the price and getting a go-ahead. My friend was horrified when it came time to pay up. Her experience with the owner was similar to the one listed earlier. No help from the owner, no discussion. So, be warned as far as the ownership is concerned. I have found my new hairdresser in Adrea. She was detail oriented and knew what she was doing. She also taught me alot about my hair and how to style it and what to look for.
