I can understand why the line is so long despite the freezing wind!!…read more My partner got a double banana caramel on a cone, and I got bees knees and coffee waffle. The ice cream was exceptionally smooth, buttery, flavorful and not too sweet. My parner loves his banana caramel so much that we came back the next day just to get him a pint of it. The line didn't stop even after we got our order and sit inside for another 30 minutes. I really recommend this spot if you have a trip to Monterey.

An older fellow had…read morewalked into our hotel lobby with a bowl of ice cream late the night before and I knew I had to track down that place for myself before we left. Enter: Revival Ice Cream. There was a line out the door as we searched for parking along the street (parking was fairly easy to find around 9:30pm and the line went quick since they unfortunately don't offer any samples - although I did overhear one of the workers say they would replace a flavor if you order it and end up not liking it?) Revival is most well-known for their Bee's Knees flavor with honey, beeswax, and their house-made honeycomb candy. My lactose-intolerant significant other opted to get the dairy-free version and I got the Apple Pie flavor for our 2nd scoop which had bits of pie crust with a couple small pieces of apple pie filling (decent but not anything life-changing). They also have gluten-free waffle cones and while I'm appreciative of the dairy-free and gluten-free options so that everyone can enjoy regardless of dietary restrictions, coconut-based ice creams almost always just taste like coconut and not much else so I would opt for the regular dairy version next time, and the waffle cone tasted strongly of artificial butter which was also off-putting for me. We got a little too excited coming in and missed the "single split" option on the menu so we ended up with an insane amount of ice cream from ordering a double... the worker recommended ordering a single split for sharing 2 flavors with 2 people after we had already ordered/paid, so now you can learn from our mistake.

Excellent little Paraguayan snack bar!!…read more I saw this spot while scrolling thru Yelp's nearby function and curiosity of their yerba mate and empanadas brought me in. I was still feeling kind of sick but wanted something hot to drink so I ordered a mate latte with oat milk. I also had one of their beef empanadas to take away so I could eat it later. Mate latte was great and definitely would get this drink again. They also have a smoked mate drink and I would definitely come back to try this too! You have to like yerba mate to fully appreciate this drink. The mate latte is kind of a light version of what mate is like. Maybe start with this first to prepare you for traditional mate. If you get traditional mate, be prepared to have your mouth jolted and doing jumping jacks, its definitely stimulating and I love it! Later when I reached my destination, I ate the beef empanada with chimichurri sauce provided and it was delicious! After I polished it off, I had wished I brought a few more to take with me. But, at $9.50 a piece, they aren't cheap, so keep that in mind. They also have other Paraguayan/South American offerings here and I was so tempted to get a mini alfajor as it was eyeing me in the display case that said EAT ME (like Alice in Wonderland), but I did not give into this, but I so wish I did!! I will definitely come back here again and again when visiting Monterey! A true gem and next time, I have to check out their secret back garden too!

No long wait times. Outdoor seating in the back patio. The empanadas are sooo good. Best ones that I've had. So crispy and filled with vegetables and soy. The owner has terrible manners and zero customer service skills. Don't waste your money here.

It had freshly cooked bacon to perfection, butter lettuce, the freshest tomatoes, an aioli sauce, on perfectly toasted sourdough bread. Would 100% get it again and I hope it's not seasonal because everyone should try this sandwich!! Flourless Brownie: 8/10 It definitely is a flourless brownie the texture of it is almost like fudge. It melts in your mouth instantly, there's not really much of a structure to the brownie. If you're a texture person this might not be for you as it's not a traditional brownie it's extra gooey. However, absolutely love the flavor of it. It's a rich chocolate flavor with powdered sugar on top. As a dark chocolate lover this was pretty good!! Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips: 6/10 It's nothing too special, it was more on the dry side but still strong banana flavor! Overall experience: 9/10 Customer service wasn't the greatest while waiting for our sandwich we didn't really know we had to wait, where to wait, and when I changed my mind on a pastry someone gave me a face. However, the ambience of the restaurant and food made up for it. I loved sitting outside, an amazing way to sit down and have a chat.

Firstly, it's such a convenient walking distance from the accommodations we have stayed at before. Next there's plenty of seating inside and out. You order up front and they'll bring it to your seat. Mine did not take long at all to arrive. There are so many options of hot dogs to choose from and also non-hot dog items. I was told by someone to try the Dick Verde (roasted brussel sprouts), which were roasted to a perfect smoky crisp that had a twist of balsamic. Then I got the Lovers Point dog (which incidentally was perfect as we visited Lovers Point earlier that day). It is topped with the Guac, tomatoes, green onion, and Lucy's sauce. (I had to omit the jalapeño). I tried the fog latte -- a tad bit too sweet for me but uses real honey. They have several flavors of ice cream too! Overall, I appreciate how convenient this spot is. So casual and fun. Lots of options. Worth trying !

You can even sub a veggie dog for their hot dog combos. My personal favorite is the Bone Yards, a bacon wrapped dog with peppers, onions, and their delicious house sauce! But the fun doesn't end there- they have delicious tater tots and Brussels sprouts that are the perfect pairing for any dog. The Brussels sprouts are seriously delicious- maybe my favorite sprouts in the area. Perfectly crispy and drizzled with a tangy balsamic glaze, it's impossible to only have one. While I haven't tried any of the coffees, it's hard for me to resist a scoop of Marianne's ice cream! The Chiquita Rip Curl is my go to. They even do milkshakes with any of the ice cream flavors. The atmosphere is beachy, cool and unpretentious. We typically elect to sit outside in their patio (weather permitting) which is cozy and cute. We love seeing all the dogs, too! They also have live music on occasion, which is a fun treat.
