Well, not only was the cake not ready when they said it would be. They still had to decorate it after arriving an hour and a half after they said it would be ready. Now, they originally said they weren't open on Sunday but my mom did not have space for the cake in her fridge overnight and the event was on Sunday. They agreed to just have it ready for us to pick up on Sunday no later than 9am. Tell me why no one was available at that time, showed up hella late and then made us wait to decorate the cake incorrectly. We had no idea that it would be the best carrot cake we had ever tasted. We CANNOT wait until next Valentine's Day so that we can pull our top layer from the freezer and eat it!! But, that wasn't even the best part ... the cake was the most beautiful wedding cake I had ever seen. She brought all of the elements of the wedding, its colors, and even my wedding dress into the design. It was white, but with a fine lace background hand designed to match my all-lace dress, she worked the same dark red roses into the cake design, and it was just the perfect size ... not too large and boxy, and not too small so that we needed a back up cake. The buttercream is a bit too sweet and thick for my taste but the chocolate cake is so moist and delicious. Maxine was both pleasant over the phone and in person. She informed me right away that she is licensed and gets inspected which right away I was sold. I drove about 45 mins to an hour to Maxine's home but it was worth it. I am taking off one start because of business hours not being solid. The owner takes off from time to time without warning and they don't always answer the phone. One day I stopped in during the middle of a normal business day and no one was there. I went to order the cake in person because I couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. The postal carrier told me the owner just comes and goes sometimes as she pleases. Interesting, but you can't argue with the amazing Dream Cake.
