a birthday cake on a table
    Sylvia P.

I have been a faithful customer of Freedom Bakery on E Market St for over 30years!! She has not yet let me down!! Her cakes are phenomenal!! I ordered a cake for my dad on Thursday for Friday late afternoon-I called to confirm and I was running late but she thought it was for Saturday I was frantic and said No I said Friday by 4p (its 4:30p at this point) she said don't worry I got you be ready by 5:15p I arrived and there was our cake just as I ordered and when we cut into into it was so moist and fluffy omg everyone was raving!! Freedom Bakery is the best it may be old looking but hey it's the yumminess that counts!! We love you!! Sylvia

two views of a birthday cake

I ordered 1/4 sheet marble cake with mocha filling to decorate , it was delicious! Everyone enjoyed the cake. Picture of the cake when I picked it up and after decorating.

Horrible !! Do not depend on them !!

If I could give no stars I would . My daughter turned 21 and they ruined the cake !! Ya they gave me a refund but they literally ruined the party the cake the theme !! How would you say you can do it but put horrible effort !!!

Hawaiian Delight cake- this a scrumptious tasting cake. I recommend it to everyone!

Lisa makes the best cakes and cupcakes in town. They are moist and delicious. The Hawaiian Delight is to die for. Her cupcakes are just as delicious. I really love her decorations.

They nailed my order! I asked for a picture of a blue cake on a green cake.

First off, this place is the one and only cake shop that specializes in desserts with pictures of other desserts on them. WOW. This place is awesome. I had a very specific need to get a cake with a picture of a cake on top. It sounds simple enough, but there was an additional layer (no pun intended!) of complexity... the cake in the picture on the cake needed to have on it a picture of another cake. We're talking a cake within a cake within a cake! Freedom Bakery nailed it! Leonardo diCaprio eat your heart out! If I ever have any needs for desserts with pictures of other desserts, I know where to go... and now you do, too!

Why would I want a cake with a picture of a cake? The picture is what I want the cake to look like, not added on the cake!

And I luv pastries and baked goods especially if they're authentically fresh made from local bakeries not franchises. So even though we were on a time schedule, I made time to check out this place. So glad I did. Delicious baked items at reasonable prices. Right when I walked in, I was greeted by a young woman that had the best smile and attitude. She was super helpful. I chatted her up a bit and found out they opened in 2021 and it's a family business. The recipes are family recipes. Luv that! Also I had to ask about the prices, there are no prices marked for the baked goods. The case had cookies, cream pies (whole and slices), croissants, muffins, scones, cream puffs, eclairs, mini fruit tarts, cheesecake (whole and slices), and danishes. They all were just so gorgeous. Sitting so pretty in the case. We bought a carrot cake muffin, slice of banana cream pie, a Grandpa David's peanut butter cookie, and a chocolate chip cookie. The cashier packaged everything carefully and provided napkins and forks. The muffins were big, fat and hefty sized. The carrot cake muffin was moist but not so much that it fell apart. So darn good. The frosting was heavenly, not too sweet and just the prefect consistency. I devoured that right away in the car. While I was inhaling the muffin, Hubs scarfed down the banana cream pie slice. The cookies were nice "biggish" size. These cookies were moist, which I prefer over crisp crunchy ones. Grandma Dave's PB was one of the best PB cookies I've ever had. They are also have breakfast menu and lunch menu (burgers, sandwiches, and salads). The place is very small with few two person tables. It's more of takeout place.

Starting with the tacos, the homemade corn tortillas are definitely a highlight. You can taste the freshness, and they add a lot to the overall experience. Both the fish and asada tacos were packed with flavor. The onion and cilantro toppings were the perfect additions, and I loved the purple cabbage on the fish taco for the extra crunch and freshness. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either option. The Chile verde burrito, though, was my favorite. The Chile verde was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It's also a bigger burrito, stuffed with rice and beans, making it a very satisfying meal. The tortilla isn't homemade, but it still held everything together nicely and tasted great. Overall, a great spot with strong flavors and quality ingredients. I'd definitely come back, and the Chile verde burrito is something I could see myself getting all the time!

First of the cafeteria has a wide range of lunch option that are all delicious! I normally get the burritos or tortas but my partner has also tried some of the salads they offer and everyone has been amazing. But the baked goods are really where this place shines. I'm always impressed with the large variety of options that the bakery has. And while I haven't tried them all, every single one that I have had has been absolutely amazing! I would have to say that my top pick however would be their Tres Leches cups. It is absolutely divine and is hands down the best Tres Leches I have ever had no contest. They also do wedding cakes. I had my wedding this year in Monterey and they were able to provide an absolutely beautiful two layered cake with a perfectly spiced carrot cake as the bottom layer and a wonderfully moist Tres Leches cake as the top layer. Absolutely everyone was raving about how good the cake was!

Starting with the Supercharger, this was easily the standout of the two. It's loaded with roast beef, bacon, turkey, ham, salami, pepperoncini, tomatoes, red onions, gouda cheese, and chipotle aioli on a ciabatta roll. They definitely don't skimp on the meat, which makes it super satisfying. The combination of the soft ciabatta and cheese worked really well together and balanced out the heaviness of the meats. My only complaint is that it could've used a bit more sauce, something like extra mustard or mayo would've taken it to the next level. Still, a strong 8.5/10. The Belair was decent but didn't quite hit the same level. It came with turkey breast, bacon, gouda cheese, spring mix, tomatoes, red onions, pepperoncini, and chipotle aioli on fresh sliced sourdough. Ours actually came with American cheese instead of gouda, which slightly changed the flavor profile. It was a good sandwich overall, but noticeably drier, especially with the sourdough, so it definitely needed more sauce to bring everything together. I'd give it a 7.2/10. Service was fast and efficient, which I appreciated. The ambiance stood out too, it has a cool retro gas station vibe that gives the place some personality and makes it feel unique. Staff was friendly, and the overall experience was smooth.
