Wow! We have a townhouse complex with very high roofs and hard to access facia. Yet, Sam is amazing at getting them. He replaced bad wood, sanded, primed, and it looks great! Sam was beyond nice. He even started later in the morning, so folks could not wake up to worker noises, like paint pumps. Then, he pointed out some accent tips that made a huge difference. We even added some work to the job, when we realized his work was so much better than the last painter we used. Sam and his crew did a good job. But Sam! Excellent. We saved any comments until he was done painting and when he finished, there was not much to ask of him. He went above and beyond what we hoped for. Lastly, Sam came back and painted our water and gas pipes. Like, wow! That has never been done here. The place looks so cleaned up and fresh. Sam's bid was fantastic and his work style and quality is amazing. A serious 5-Star. Btw, there is another Sam's Painting, apparently. So make sure you have THE Sam. He's great. read more

Very nice guy, but I have to warn you about him. He painted and repaired the stairs, that lead to our small apt. He also painted the doors to the garage about a two years ago. It looked OK. Though I did come across a paint bucket with very watered down paint, I tried not to think too much of it. 6 months later I had to buy more paint myself and repaint the stairs in many places because the paint had come off. Today, it hardly looks like it's been painted at all, there are so many bare spots. All the while he worked, he asked me for money for materials. He kept increasing the quote, but he did do a few extra little things, which I thought OK, I guess so. When it came time to pay, he increased it again for no reason. He seems like a very nice guy--promises you the world but does very shady work. I'm very disappointed that I trusted him. read more

We hired Sam about a year and a half ago to paint the exterior of a house we were readying for sale(850 sq.ft, tiny!) and I've finally decided to publish a review that I've had in draft mode since that time. The agreed upon price was on the high end and we decided on using him for the job based on the positive reviews from Yelp.(I hadn't realized most of these reviews are from a few years ago and not really recent). That was a mistake. We paid $500 upfront for materials. The prep work of patching and prepping the Stucco was the timeliest part of the whole process and took about a full week to complete, it was one guy(not Sam) and he took his time. Sam then wanted additional money to pay him. Ok, understandable. Then, the disappearing act begins. No call, no show, for days... When i'd call he would say "tomorrow, tomorrow, don't worry!" He would then question my distrust in him and that it was unwarranted- Oh, and "I need another $500". Yet, another several days would go by. On another occasion, he was "sick with the flu", ok... I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but still, another several days go by... The work wasn't getting done, he persistently asked for more money and when questioned about the lack of progress to pay ratio, he would say things like "I need gas, how do you expect me to drive!" or "I have bills!" (As if his financial situation is my problem!). He then would show up to do a little scraping of the fascia boards, or patching of them. Ask for more money, get it and again, disappear for days. We consulted with a general contractor we know, and he helped us look into Sam's Contractors License number and determined ultimately that he was unlicensed. We were misled. When asked about it he stated that he owes some money to reactivate it and that he's operating under his father's license (though one would think he and his father might share a last name? Who knows.). Eventually, got paint on the walls over a month into this thing and some sloppy fascia board patching and painting. He painted a steel security door, with a roller, and you know those thousands of tiny holes that allow you to see out through the screen? Yeah - clogged with paint (we had to fix this ourselves). We were invested in this job already and needed to push him to uphold his end of the deal so that we weren't out the money spent with nothing to show for it. We ultimately fired him but ended up spending way too much money on a job that he couldn't finish in over 2 MONTHS!(not exaggerating!) We ended up having to pay another painter to clean up the work and finish the job. Important to note: He didn't have a crew for our job as described in these old reviews on Yelp. The work on our project was just him for primer/paint and he hired a guy just for stucco patching. This ordeal with Sam caused a lot of undue time, stress, and energy on my family's part and we encourage you to do your research into his license if you choose to do business with him though I haven't seen any recent reviews here so who knows if he's still painting. read more

We hired Sam again to paint our new house and his team did a good job. The project took a solid week and he and a few of his employees came on time every day to work 8 hour shifts. They all spoke English well and were very nice and respectful. A little bit about the project... The house is about 3200 square feet and Sam went above and beyond in completing the job by doing the following: - We had the entire house painted white and I also wanted a few walls done in a light gray accent. Instead of sending me to the paint store, Sam went himself and brought me back some samples. Super nice of him! - I wanted a huge gold heart painted in the nursery and Sam brought me gold paint samples and then sketched the heart on paper and drew it onto the wall. He was very precise in painting the actual heart and I couldn't be more happy with the end result!! - A lot of the recessed lighting cans were yellow from the old owners and Sam took them down, washed them, and spray painted them white for us so they looked new. This saved us a bunch of $ bc we didn't have to invest in new cans! - One of the blinds on the windows was damaged during the paint job and Sam replaced the entire set of blinds with new ones instead of trying to do a bandage repair. All in all, Sam did a very good job. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that many of the areas weren't taped off properly. Most noticeably, the baseboards weren't taped properly so you can see partial strokes of the new paint over the old paint. Also, the stairs weren't finished properly and there were areas that were completely missed such as inside the window frame. I would highly recommend that if you hire Sam, make sure that you and another person do a detailed walk through to make sure it's all done properly. read more

I called Sam to ask about having our Gazebo painted. We setup an appointment for Sunday morning, so he could give me an estimate. I waited two hours that day, but he was a no-show. I called him later in the day and left a voicemail. He never returned my call. When I talked to him a few days later, he sounded exasperated because he was swamped with too much work. And he wouldn't be able to spare any men to do my work. I think we would have known this three days earlier when I setup the appointment. Instead he chose to keep me waiting for two hours on a Sunday morning. I think we all know the feeling of being stood-up by a contractor. So I can't speak to the quality of his work, but if you care about responsiveness and courtesy to the customer, I would be wary of Sam. read more

Sam did the outside of my home in 2010 and on 10/2016 he painted the entire interior and most of the exterior of a very old and neglected rental house in Long Beach. I am so glad to be able to hire Sam again. He also did an interior project for a friend/neighbor last year, so do not hesitate to call him even if you are not in Los Angeles. The rental house needed a lot of prep and several coats, plus there was active construction/remodeling in progress. Sam was a pleasure to work with and I relied on his expertise and experience heavily. I am delighted with the results and would not hesitate to call Sam for future projects. I recommend him highly. read more

We hired Sam to paint some of the exterior trim on our small multifamily property because the job was just too overwhelming for us to finish it ourselves. We got three bids and Sam's was the lowest. We just wanted to get the job done and weren't too picky about quality, and based on Yelp reviews, we figured Sam would do a good job. My first impressions of the three painters who came to give estimates was that all three seemed very nice, knowledgeable, and experienced, but Sam struck me as being the most down-to-earth and trustworthy, so I felt good about hiring him even though he made a mistake on our estimate. It was rather a large mistake and a little confusing to sort out, but even after adjusting it his bid was still the lowest by far. We had to schedule Sam more than a month in advance, and he had been so busy with estimates that when I called to schedule him, he couldn't remember what my property looked like, but he was very responsive via email regarding all my concerns. Because of all the confusion before the job started, I wasn't sure what to expect when the painting finally began, and in that I was pleasantly surprised. Sam showed up with four guys, and they went right to work sanding, prepping, and making repairs. I don't know how detailed the prep work was, but I don't really care. I figured Sam knows what he's doing. I did a visual inspection before the painting began, and everything appeared to be in order. I couldn't tell by looking, but Sam said his guys sanded the eaves, and I believe him. The next day, Sam's crew primed and painted everything. It looks AWESOME. There was a tiny bit of overspray in a few areas that had been sprayed instead of hand painted, and some drips on the back house that had been covered with paint matching the stucco that was *almost* the same color. I don't care. Most people would never even notice those things. Sam offered to fix the overspray, but I told him not to bother. It was barely noticeable and it's on our rental unit. There were no drips on the precolored stucco on the front house or the garage, so they must have taken extra care to keep it clean. Sam said it would take two days and I didn't believe him, but it was done in two days. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of the work, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, work ethic, and honesty of this company and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Sam obviously takes pride in his work, and it was a pleasure having him paint my house. Best experience I've ever had with a contractor. read more

I had a few rooms in my home painted by Sam and his guys. I really liked the quote that they gave me for the rooms so I decided to give them a try. They got the job done in 2 days which was really amazing because they worked their butts of to get it done. The end results were really amazing and I love the way that it came out. I am very impressed with their services. Thank you. read more

SAM Painting - Love it! - Painters Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Please look at my pictures. I think that Sam was good in the past but not anymore. I paid Sam almost 11,000 to paint the interior and exterior of my tiny house. The paint is literally bubbling and falling off of my house after less than a month and Sam will not return my calls or texts. He texted "I am done with your job" I met with Sam twice before I hired him to paint both the exterior and interior of my house. He went on and on about his crew which consisted of himself , his brother and guys that they have worked with for years and the pride they have in their work, and that he stands behind his work 100%. I spoke with Sam repeatedly in the days leading up to my job and he never mentioned that he injured his back and was unable to work and that his guys were unavailable, instead he showed up barely able to walk, without his brother and his regular guys. He should have rescheduled. The job was a mess and Sam was not around. He has not stood behind his work at all. The paint is bubbling and falling off, thin and spotty. Touch ups are mismatched. Things were broken. Items lost. My floors scratched. Paint splatter everywhere, I have spent hours and hours cleaning it. My windows had so much splatter that it was an Extra $200 to have it cleaned off. During the job everyday they left my patio full of their paint, supplies and trash spread everywhere, including their lunch wrappers in front of my door and my sinks full of paint. I really did not want to leave a negative review but Sam left me no choice. read more

based on an earlier experience with sam painting the exterior of my house, i called him again when my kitchen ceiling needed painting. i got another five star paint job! once again, the crew was prompt, started work immediately, and i was comfortable having them in my home. sam provided all materials (which were rolled into the job price) and included a smoke detector, a carbon monoxide detector, and strapping and a blanket for the water heater. saved me a trip to home depot and the stress of knowing what the h8ll to buy. thanks to my neighbors for writing reviews i can trust and thank sam and his crew for their excellent work. read more

After getting a handful of quotes for the exterior of our 100 year old Craftsman home in Eagle Rock, we decided to go with Sam Painting. Sam gave us the best quote and a start date that worked for us. Our home required more prep work than most and Sam's Painting took care of it well. Sam and his crew were very professional and friendly, saying "Good morning" each day they were here and always on time. Sam also suggested a couple of areas that we had not talked about to be painted (concrete stairs/porch) and took care of it at no extra charge. They took 3 days to complete and did a great job. Very, very happy with the work done and recommend to anyone. read more

I used Sam Painting for the exterior of my house they were OK . I did not think they were very detailed.

Nothing but great things to say. Called for a quote, and Sam the owner came over the same day. Gave me a price on the spot, which was better than all the other painter's quotes. He said it would take 4 days, and they were done in 4 days. Quality work. Quiet workers. Polite. Clean. And the owner, Sam, was here each day, making sure the project was on time and done the right way. A real pleasure. These guys are great. Btw, this job was for an exterior stucco house in Echo Park, which now looks great. I've hired many contractors/vendors over the last couple years, so believe me when i say these guys are the real deal. He doesn't want payment until the job is done p can't beat that. read more

All i can say is that all the positive reviews Sam has received are true. He just finished painting our house. He and his crew were professional and clean. He was so busy this summer that we scheduled the job over a month before. He followed up with me the week before we were scheduled to start. He also has a good eye for colors and made selecting our new home colors very easy. read more

I found Sam on Yelp and was glad I did. Painting is never cheap -- at least if you want things done right -- but I'll say this... I'd originally only planned on painting a few walls in my rental apartment, but Sam's quote was so fair that I included the ceilings and cabinets too. His team came in the next day and finished one day ahead of schedule. What a difference! Whether I stay in the apartment for a year or ten, it'll be a lot more pleasant thanks to Sam and his crew. read more

We manage a small apartment complex and needed a new licensed contractor who could paint and do handyman work. We took a chance on Sam and his crew because of his positive Yelp review. Sam is a professional painter with professional equipment and crew. They are on time, they work efficiently, they clean-up after the job. He has done multiple jobs for us with consistent results. An added bonus is that he and his crew are a pleasure to work with. read more

Sam and his crew of merry men were AMAZING! The bid he gave us was comparible to 3 other offers we recieved. When my wife asked if he would give us a military discount because of me being in the Navy, Sam didn't know what it was but honored it and gave us 10% off our total cost. With me getting ready to head back out, I explained to Sam we would like to get started and done before I have to leave on the 9th of September, Sam had his crew here on the 27th and reassured me they would be done in 10 days. 8 days later, Sam let us know he would be done that day. My wife and I kept tasking Sam with extra stuff and he was always positive and made it happen. Our only regret is that we will not be able to have him back to paint the inside of our home til next year. THANKS SAM. read more

After gathering bids, I decided to hire Sam. I selected Sam because he was down-to-earth, he lived in the area (Silver Lake) and he had reasonable prices. He and his team did an outstanding job painting our home's exterior, garage and fences. They removed the bars from our windows and patched the holes. Inside our house, Sam's team removed acoustic ceilings in two rooms and painted three rooms. Each day Sam's team arrived on time and diligently completed the work. The team was flexible with scheduling the inside painting work, minimizing the number of days I took off from work. Whenever you take on a house project, there are always unexpected twists. One of the things I liked best about working with Sam was his flexibility. A couple pieces of wood turned out to have termite damage and other pieces had dry rot. Sam and his team replaced the wood. He has a great, relaxed, can-do demeanor. Our house has been transformed. I've kept his card and plan to work with him in the future. read more

Sam painted the entire exterior of our house 3 years ago and it still looks fantastic. I should have written this review sooner. Amazing job! Amazing price. I'd hire Sam Painting again in an instant. I wish I could upload a photo of the exterior of our Silverlake bungalow - still looks fantastic! read more

If you have any doubt that house painting is a highly skilled profession, Sam Painting puts it to rest. The quality of their work is simply exceptional, and it is delivered on time and on budget. From my initial meeting with Sam through the completion of the job, Sam and his crew were prompt, polite, careful, and clean. The one issue that arose - a misunderstanding regarding the color to be used on one wall - was resolved immediately and at no additional charge. I could not be happier with the end results; the neighbors stop me in the street to tell me how great the house looks. I will never use any other painting company, period. read more

Sam worked on our bathroom on short notice. Our bathroom was a horrible blue and he painted it with a nice light color. You would never guess there was colbalt blue under my light gray paint. He sanded and painted the original windows on our 1912 bungalow. He was very courteous and cleaned up after himself, better than any handymen who've come through the house. We're definitely going to hire him again to finish the rest of the interior of the house. He's also license, bonded and EPA certified which is great for older homes which most likely have lead paint. read more
