I visited this shop to buy jewelry to match a new dress for an event. I think it would be a good place to shop for a pep rally or theme party. Plenty of free parking right outside. Staff is friendly. They have a huge variety of merchandise including purses, umbrellas, hats, belts, kimonos and tons of accessories (hair bands, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc). 7 minutes ago I have been Sam Moon customer for almost four years and today I had my first bad experience there. I came to the store 20 minutes before 7 pm. 5 minutes before the store close, the security guard (asian) start yelling at me: STOP, NO MORE, CHECK OUT!. 7 o clock he started yelling again so RUDE. I'm pretty sure that him doesn't know nothing about customer service, he doesn't know the word POLITE and he doesn't like his job. The customer BUY and nothing is free for receive that poor customer service. My advice is: PLEASE don't arrive to this store before close if you don't want to be treated like TRASH! Clasp your purse tight because you will want to spend! It's a great place for cheap little accessories, purses, makeup, etc. It has a plethora of options and you will for sure end up purchasing something you most likely had no intention on buying. Me and Sam Moon have a love hate relationship. I love to go there. I hate being broke after. It's been this way since I was 16, when it was actually in the shady part of harry hines, you know what I'm talking about too, so don't pretend you don't....yeah. I'm pointing all ya'll out. Now that it's bigger, it seems like it's over rated. I have to really have a strong feeling to go here, and it has to be on a weekday because going on the weekend is pure insanity. But when I do go, I fall in love with the place all over again. I buy lots of purses from here because I have champagne dreams on a beer budget and their designer impersonations do me just fine! For me jewelery is a hit or miss, and sorting through all of it makes me claustrophobic sometimes so I stick to Forever21 for my accessory shopping. The shops around the main luggage store are pretty neat again, for my DIVAS OF THE THICKER PERSUASION they have a place to get some **ahem** unmentionables ...(hee hee hee) that won't break your bank, and SHOES...oh how could I forget. I live in Alaska and I shop Sam Moon's every time I am in Texas because the store has amazing gifts, clothes, luggage, Jewelry, shoes, and the prettiest handbags (great quality as well) that I have seen in any other store! They literally carry everything imaginable! Some of the reviews on this site are so old and don't truly reflect the ambience, or the quality of the store today. The people are super nice, helpful, and have great customer service. One bit of advice, Sam Moon has such beautiful quality of merchandise that you can't try to shop there in 15 or 20 minutes unless there is a specific item you are looking for, then you can get it and get out quickly. Otherwise, come at a reasonable time if you plan to do any real shopping! I get rave reviews about everything I buy from Sam Moons, and no one can tell if I bought it from Nordstrom's, Macy's, or any other high end store! If you dont like crowds then this is a claustrophobic's nightmare! This is definitely an interesting place to visit. The place is pretty big and has cheap purses and jewelry practically coming out of the walls. Its a great place to go if looking for a cheap purse for a night out. And, don't even think about going from the middle of November until after the first of the year. Rule Number Two. Only take the money you plan to leave there. $20 to $30 is a good number. In a like manner, Sammy's capitalist wonderland is an open wasteland of utterly random tchotskis collected from all four corners of the crapiverse. A simmering pile of unrelated and wholly unnecessary debris rummaged from the bottom of ancient - and untouched - "For Sale" bins of outlet malls and souvenir stands the world over. Sammy's is less of a retail store and more of a museum of the future, dedicated to the exploration of the early 21st Century's fascination with useless garbage. A bewildering array of commercial products people buy ... and will never use. Except maybe the luggage. There is a luggage ... pile... edifice ... whatever, stashed in one corner. The place is truly beyond definition or even categorization. IE, Tom Thumb is a supermarket; you go there for food. Volvo of Dallas is a car dealership; you go there for cars - usually Volvos. Home Depot is a home improvement store; why anyone still goes there, I don't know, but you hope to rummage out some nails or yard tools or other house fixing stuff. It makes sense. But Sam Moon's ... Moon's is a ?BLANK? and people go there for ... what? To piss away gas money on plastic domino sets? Or calculators? And ceramic cats? Or wine bottle stoppers? Ooo - the plastic jewelry and postcards! See? Wishing you were here! In Dallas! .... not ..... And yet, the allure of this "yet-to-find-the-dustbin" pile to the feminine mind is unmistakable. Gleefully, they dive into the ephemera, titillating to the thrill of the hunt for baubles and ... dress buttons? ... other forgettables that will soon languish, unremembered, in dark corners of their abode until, uncovered during a move or spring cleaning, they draw a look of puzzlement to the once-enamored beholder, who then dismissively tosses them into the trash. Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Trash to Trash - once again, the cycle is complete. Still, for guys looking to score points with a date, or recover from a "Forgot Your BLANK .." incident with the wife, this might just be the place to go. Unfortunately, to add insult to injury, Sam Moon's is located in THE STRIP MALL FROM NOWHERE. There are no real roads or major access points leading to this peculiar strip mall. It's right next to 635, and yet might as well be situated on the moon (the one in the sky that causes the tides and actually serves a useful purpose) for all that it matters. Access is terrible and involves navigating an assortment of oddball industrial streets that will soon have you questioning the veracity of your Google map. Complicating matters is the fact that the mall wraps around itself in a rough "U" shape. In effect, the retail storefronts are hidden from view, and only the industrial arse of the center's operations are displayed to the world at large. Basically, the mall moons the highway and all surrounding roads, looking like any other shipping depot / warehouse in the area. Very attractive, and sooo easy to spot! So ... good luck. On the far side, they even have a wall of wigs that's adjacent to a wall of luggage that's next to a wall of tiaras. Toldja it was random. I have no idea what it's like over the holidays or even on weekends, but I'm not gonna do a study on that. That is for darn sure. I bought silly junk basically but it was cheaper than going to other places I thought of and heard they had thousands of square feet of cheap junk. Oh how true. I'm from Chicago and there is nothing like Sam Moon in Chicago. It is like a huge warehouse of costume jewelry and accessories. There was every type of accessory I could think of there. I had a hard time choosing what to buy, I literally wanted to take half of the store home with me because everything is so reasonably priced. The jewelry I ended up buying would of on average been $5 more expensive if I would have bought at a store in Chicago or twice as much I bought at a chain clothing store. I went to this store around the 4th of July and the jewelry have really lasted through my rough treatment. I have taken two additional trips in which I took the costume jewelry on and I tend to take it off and leave it in strange places (e.g. my gym bag, in the car, on the kitchen counter, I fell asleep in it and removed it during the night I think 'cause it was in the bed with me when I woke). The store also sells bags and hats...ok they sold some other stuff too but those were the things that I was most interested in. If you need costume jewelry I would advise you go to Sam Moon because I'm pretty sure they will have something for your outfit. When I stepped into Sam Moon, I felt my heart beat hard. We had a store in Arizona called "Dazzle" which was like a mini-Sam Moon. When I saw this one, I almost cried. I was on a mission, I needed a turqoise earring necklace set, to replace the one I got from Dazzle, years ago. The earring was missing, otherwise it was still in good repair. I walked through all of the aisles where my eyes teared up at all of the selection of amazing purses for inexpensive prices. I got giddy about the wall of feathered jewelry, and almost passed out that I was still only a portion of the way through the store, and had many set choices already. Same as Dazzle, if you know what to pick (LOOK for the quality people, if you think it LOOKS like low quality it is, if it LOOKS sturdy, chances are, it is) I chose one set, and a wallet because I was in dire need. My knees were weak in love. I was so happy. I must tell you people, fashion comes in, it goes out. For this price, you can afford to buy the most fashionable items available once or twice a month and never break your bank.
