I got there right as the owner was locking up for the Thanksgiving holiday. Without batting an eye, she opened the store again, made sure the music was playing, and insisted that I not rush. I immediately found a gorgeous scarf and a necklace for my friend, and I couldn't resist getting a great black sweater for myself. I thanked her profusely, and walked home to show off my purchases to my bf. Duly impressed, he reminded me that it was time for me to go back to work. Oh no. I couldn't find my keys anywhere. We tore up the house for a while, and found spare keys dating back to 2011. Just not MY keys. They have to be at the store. Finally, I had the presence of mind to look for a phone number (only after I'd already run back down the street to see if she was still there -- all locked up.). She answered, and said she hadn't noticed them. Upon hearing the panic in my voice, she offered to come back downtown and look. She had already driven away! It's her thanksgiving break! I felt terrible, but I needed those keys. Fear not, my keys and I were reunited. She was unbelievably gracious about my mistake, even apologizing for not having looked around before closing. A review for a boutique should emphasize the product. Ohmygoodness these clothes are perfect. And the jewelry. And the hats. Clearly, I HAD to make a special trip just to buy a present here. Also, though, let's all support the heck out of a just plain good person who happens to have a VERY fashionable boutique in the affordable clothes- hungry world of downtown Dallas.

I was never impressed with the quality of their clothing, but it was a good convenient place to stop by when I was in a bind for something cute and trendy to wear, and their accessory assortment is decent. My last visit was terrible disappointment. I was in a hurry to find a dress to wear that evening for dinner and drinks at the Ritz. I was in a hurry and quickly bought a dress with sequence. When I got home and truly inspected the dress, I noticed that it was missing some sequence pieces, and it just looked plain cheap and tacky. There is no way I was going to wear that to the ritz. What an embarrassment!! I refuse to wear the dress. It was a final sale, so they would not exchange it or work with me store credit. I left this unwearable dress and they kept my $50. Poor, very poor customer service for someone who wants to shop and support local business. It is a shame that they were unwilling to work with me in spite of their poor quality product. As a resident, I always suggest their place as a go to for clothing. I will no longer. They were not willing to work with a loyal customer, so I will take my business and recommendations elsewhere.

This is a great place to shop for gifts. They also have beautiful candles placed in different vessels that remind me of my childhood as my mom had some of these dishes. They are located not too far from Eno's and DIRT Design Studio on Bishop.

But you have to remember everything is imported and you are paying a premium for these goods. I thought some of the food products were on the more reasonable price range. It was definitely a store filled with eye candy. Service was great and they were so helpful and attentive to your needs. My son bought a few items and he was very happy with them. I would definitely come back and take a look around. They have beautiful products. Aurevoir!

Tyler Kingstone Mercantile is located in the corner just across from Starbucks which is pretty easy to find. Their whole store vibe is a mix of Texas meets modern vibes. They have a wide variety of clothing for men, women and even some super cute stuff for kids. I like that a lot (if not all) of their products are US and Texas made which I thought was very unique. I think this shop is perfect for out of towners looking for a very Texan souvenier or anyone looking for a very unique gift. The neighborhood was nicknamed "The Devil's Back Porch" back in the 1920s. I hope that was not a reference to his butt. 2. This was one of the busiest streetcar stops in all of Dallas in the 1930s, which is the reason the shops are close together. 3. The restaurant Paradiso is L shaped because it was built around century-old trees. 4. Bonnie (of Bonnie and Clyde) worked as a waitress in this area before her crime spree began. Rumor has it she needed money to afford the $8 slices of pie at Emporium Pies. Only three things sucked: 1) Parking is difficult on weekends. 2) Cops are everywhere, so don't jaywalk. 3) The people with clipboards asking you to donate to blue whale abortions or whatever are aggressive.

The manager, owner, is really awesome. My son did a modeling show for her last year and had a blast. He recently got a call to go to NY for a gig with the BOSS agency there and I told him he better go to Indigo and get fitted for a descent pair of jeans for the trip. We only had a budget of $150.00 which he failed to tell them, but the jeans he came home wearing were fantastic and worth the $100.00 he went over budget. Don't think you can go in here with $50 and walk out with an outfit-they are pretty pricey. What you are actually paying for is the personal attention from the very accommodating staff. If it weren't for the punch to the pocket book I could easily give them 5 stars! read more

Indigo is a great place to find something no one else will be wearing. They have a lot of clothes from smaller designers and a number of items from local Dallas designers, which I especially seek out because it supports our local artists and local economy. The owners, Denise and Keith, are and really sweet, super helpful, and to top it off they often have adult beverages for customers on the weekend. :) read more

One of the best store in the area, aside from its uniqueness, the charming and beautiful owner is a proponent of local designers from around the country. Clothes design and color selection were carefully thought of and a far cry from the big box retailers. Thumbs up! read more

Few of the longtime employees remaining truly understand what has made Clothes Horse a Dallas institution. They greet customers, offer assistance, acknowledge people when they enter, and create the kind of upscale shopping experience that keeps customers returning to this gem of a store. Unfortunately, some of the newer employees don't seem to share that same customer-service mindset. The atmosphere feels different, and some of the attention to customers that once set the store apart appears to be fading. With that said, my loyalty to Clotheshorse runs deep, and I continue to have great respect for the manager and the few longtime sales associates. I'm hopeful that the store can recapture the level of service that made it so special for so many years. I'll keep giving it another chance because Clotheshorse has been one of my favorite Dallas shopping destinations for a very long time.

I was greeted politely and directed around the corner to the back, where the appraiser is located. That day, my interaction with that lady was uncomfortable. She had a condescending tone and a bad attitude. She even said one of my items was "jacked" and refused to take it. Overall, it felt like my presence was an inconvenience for her. Against my better judgment, I let her take the other items. Fast-forward about a week, and I decided to pay a small fee to retrieve my items from the store. Once again, I was promptly and warmly greeted by the store staff, who directed me to the appraiser again. It was the same appraiser that was present previously. Again, my presence is an inconvenience to her. I tell her why I'm there, and she tells me to go to the store portion. I tell her they directed me back here, so she calls the store staff via her phone and refers to me as a "little girl." I went back to the store portion and the same staff apologized for the miscommunication, and began helping me retrieve the items I had previously agreed to consign. The remainder of my interaction with her was very pleasant. It is quite disheartening writing a review like this, considering my only reason for doing so was the negative experiences I had with a single person.

I especially love L Bartlett in the Spring/Summer season because of the swimwear! They have gorgeous tunics, floppy hats, Wildfox sunglasses, Havaiana flip flops, and bikinis that compliment all body shapes. This place is definitely worth popping in if you're in West Village...I guarantee you'll be a frequent shopper after. :)

He has a vision of where fashion is going, and he's usually about 2-3 years ahead of the curve. His secret (he'll tell if you ask) is that he travels to Europe and sees what they're wearing over there. Then he shrewdly determines what to buy, and he brings it back here. You'll find a wide array of tops and jeans and well everything. If you see a top that fits, you better get it now because he only orders four of each top (Small, Medium, Large and XL). He does this so you don't bump into yourself on the street which can happen a lot in this town if you shop too much Banana Republic. If you snooze, you definitely lose, but luckily HD has a layaway plan that will buy you more time to think about your purchase. For you ladies, HD also has a women's clothing store that is equally hip and two doors down from the Men's store. The best time to visit HDs is right about NOW around Thanksgiving. He usually has a deal where each canned food item you bring in gets you 10% off an item up to 50%. And he starts doing a crazy sale around this time too where each day he gradually marks stuff down each day until he clears it out. One year, I bought this bad-ass jacket for like $40, and he threw in some sick pants for $10. The prices might seem high at first, but once you're a regular, you'll start getting some good deals.
