Salty Paws is chain of ice-cream shops for dogs. It was founded in 2018 in Delaware and began franchising in 2019. This location in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh is a franchise that more recently opened. Salty Paws Pittsburgh says that it is the first ice-cream shop for dogs in Pennsylvania. The ice cream is lactose-free. During my visit, I saw ice-cream flavors such as bacon, banana, birthday cake, blueberry, carob, cheddar cheese, maple bacon, peanut butter, pumpkin, and vanilla. I saw toppings such as rabbit, banana chips, neopawlitan drops, nilla drops, cookie crumble, banana and bacon, peanut butter, steak and sweet potato, cheese and bacon, and beef. This ice cream was available in scoops (1 scoop for $4.99, 2 scoops for $5.99, and 3 scoops for $6.99), cones (1 scoop for $5.99), and waffle bowls (2 scoops for $6.99). In the front and middle of the business were many shelves of packaged and a la carte dog treats such as biscuits, cookies, donuts, hides, and pizzles. I also saw packages of powdered ice cream to make at home. I bought three scoops of ice cream--bacon, carob, and peanut butter--and one topping of rabbit. I also bought one donut and one "happy meal" of treats that had been baked by a different business. I got the treats as takeout. Because the weather was hot, I put the ice cream in an insulated tote with ice. The tote and ice kept my dog's ice cream frozen until I got home. At home, I fed this ice cream, donut, and happy meal to my dog. She had not previously eaten ice cream. She excitedly devoured the bacon-flavored ice cream with the rabbit topping. She had no interest in the other two flavors, which surprised me because she enjoys other businesses' carob and peanut butter treats. I broke the donut into several pieces, and my dog happily ate them. The happy-meal treats were too hard for my dog to bite, so I used a knife to cut them into pieces. My dog was interested in eating only about 1/4 of the happy meal. I think that this business might interest other dogs who enjoy different flavors of treats and who have sharper teeth.

This place is fantastic if you have a dog! or if you someone you know has a dog its a lovely shop filled with baked goods for your furry friends the cookies are adorable with a capital A in back is actual ice cream for dogs they scoop it out fresh they also have assorted gear such as leashes and collars Lawrenceville can be hassle finding metered street parking but this shop will make your dog happy give it a try My pup recommends this place 100%

We got our pup peanut butter ice cream and a beef stuffed hoof!

This place is so cute!! You open the front door into a dog heaven. There's gear, cookies, muffins, cakes, doughnuts, ice cream, bones, and even doggy alcohol! Our hound couldn't get enough of all the smells. He was so overwhelmed he could barely pick which treat he wanted. Our service was also amazing. She was very friendly, accommodating to our shy pup, and let him try ice cream flavors before committing. This place is an hour walk away and we will be regularly visiting; it is so worth adding to our dog date days. Oh, and don't worry, there's human ice cream right across the street:)

Our Siggi boy loves Salty paws!! Every time we walk by he's always dragging us to go in. The owner is super kind and the ice cream is apparently very delicious (says Siggi). I love that they have so many fun and pretty homemade treats here too! Siggi 10/10 woof recommend.

Salty Paws is so fun! We took our pup to check it out & he was a BIG fan! We were first greeted by an employee (didn't catch her name) & the owner! They were both so friendly, helpful, and very excited to meet our pup. The store has a huge selection of treats, toys, collars, and more. More meaning the ice cream bar!!!! They so many flavors & toppings- all are safe for dogs. We got our pup Maple Bacon Ice Cream with Peanut Butter Bones on top. They serve it in a dog bowl which I was loving. Pup scarfed it down and was ready for more haha! This was such a fun outing with our pup and we will absolutely be back soon!

So unique!!!! Loved getting to pop into this shop on a random Tuesday with my pup after the farmers market! They have such cute biscuits with designs, various dog treats, and the best part is a dog ice cream bar! The dog ice cream is served in doggy bowls and has various toppings. My pup didn't finish his peanut butter and beef sprinkles, so they put it in a to go cup for us to take with! I will 100% be getting a puppy cake here for his birthday! Someone was celebrating a birthday and they had Alexa play happy birthday for the pup!

The one rabbit didn't even really have any food. Rabbits are prone to digestion issues and need to be able to be constantly eating. There weren't any hideaways provided for them, or any toys for enrichment or to chew on and keep their teeth down. I didn't get pictures of the guinea pigs. Their cage was literally just stacked on top of the rabbits'. But they also didn't have any toys and no hideaways. Because of this, they were visibly super stressed out because they were kept front and center of the store and didn't have any place to hide and get away from the stressors. The top of their cage was also just open and I saw little kids reaching their hands in without any employees around to facilitate customers interacting with the animals like that. Honestly terrible for everyone involved because A.) The kids could get bit B.) It stresses out the animals C.) The animals are learning to be afraid of people are going to be difficult to socialize with anyone that takes them home and D.) Any germs on the kids' hands could easily be transmitted to the animals and make them sick. This store should just stick with fish honestly. I'm not as knowledgeable about the other kinds of animals they have as I am about guinea pigs and rabbits, but the owners definitely either don't care about the animals or are just really uneducated about the animals they're selling.

We recently had an appointment to meet a puppy and the staff was very polite and attentive. They showed us the breading and medical history and also offered a 3 year warranty on the animal if it malfunctions and dies. On the downside, we would have liked the prices for the animals to have been posted ahead of time because they were extremely high. But I suppose not knowing the cost really got us into the store to at least play with the pupper for a good 20 min. Alas... the pricey pup prevented us from purchasing and hopefully some rich family or desperate consumer will go into debt for the doggy because they do offer in-store financing. I suppose when I get my promotion at work, I'll try this process again and I can attain my designer dog. It's too bad that my family is against retail pets but I say to hell with that. I usually purchase pet products from national retailers such as Chewy, Petsmart, Amazon, and Target, but I felt interested in investigating the Healthy Pet Products store in the North Hills. When I entered the store, an employee immediately greeted me and asked if I needed any assistance. I looked around the store for many minutes. I found lots of unique products that I had not seen at other retailers. I saw many brands and types of foods and treats (e.g., bagged, canned, frozen, freeze-dried, raw, and grain-free) in many flavors (e.g., chicken, beef, duck, lamb, rabbit, turkey, and venison). I also saw many types of toys, health supplements, hygiene products, grooming supplies, leashes and collars, etcetera. I decided to buy three treats for my dog--turkey, beef and lamb, and bacon ice cream. A second employee immediately noticed me at the cash register, greeted me, accurately scanned my products and processed my payment, and thanked me. So far, I have given two of the treats to my dog, and she happily wagged her tail as she ate all of the treats. Tip: Check out the Healthy Pet Products website for sales and coupons.
