I have always had a positive experience at the Cranberry twp store. Lauren is extremely knowledgeable and helped me find exactly what i was searching for and couldn't find anywhere. Almost all pet food has synthetic vitamins in them. She placed a special order for me. She also recommend other products to help with my cats health condition. This is such a cute local pet supply shop in the area. The staff are very friendly and eager to help. You can also tell that all products are high quality, but everything is still reasonably priced. They have an adorable selection of dog toys and leashes which made me wish I had a dog so I could buy some of those. The store seems to mainly cater to dogs, since majority of the areas are dog food/toys/supplies. There's a smaller cat section in the back, but still many options for toys and food nonetheless. The food that my kittens were raised on, that the breeder recommended, was not available anywhere else in Pittsburgh, that I could see. I was hoping against hope that the prices at the store would not be extreme, given that it was my only brick and mortar source. The best local pet store! Every staff member is so helpful, kind, and accommodating to all human and pup visitors. So many good quality treats to choose from and the toughest cutest toys for our giant pup. We stopped in today for a new harness with our energetic dog and the staff was helpful and jumped in to put it on him and made sure the size and fit was perfect. This is an amazing little pet shop. I took my little man for a walk through Shadyside and had heard about this place and decided to stop in. Very nice that if you are walking and do actually want to stop in, it is a 'pet friendly' establishment so you don't have to worry about what to do with your dog while you go browse. I didn't get a chance to check out the back of the store much because having a 3 month old puppy wrapping himself around your leg fifty times doesn't make for walking through the store a fun task. We (yes we, Eli, little man) browsed through the toys and treats up front. While we were browsing the staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and on top of their game. They have a lot of environmentally friendly toys for your pets located there. Picked up a chew toy made from wool for Eli and he has not let that thing alone since we came home. Upon check out be sure to sign up for their card. It's kind of like the Petco/PetSmart card. You get an amount off after you spend a certain amount there. They also have classes/demostrations you can attend. If you don't mind, join their email club and receive updates about specials and classes that are going to be offered. I adore his store! It is very much a dog oriented store, but they also have a small but excellent cat section. This is a good thing because I don't actually own a dog.. There is a wall of canned cat food. All very wonderful brands with good ingredients. They have deals where you can get a percentage off if you buy many cans at one time. Basically fill a cardboard tray and you're set! I personally buy Weruva, and Petagogy has every flavor imaginable. They also have two sizes. It's very much a whole foods for pets in a way due to the natural ingredients in the brands they stock. There are also cat toys, trees, treats, tunnels, beds, catnip and plants, litter pans and leashes/collars. It can be a little on the more expensive side, but for good reason. The products are excellent and worth it! The customer service is also great. They have a customer card that can give you deals as well if you frequent. read more

The owners couldn't be nicer and more helpful! While I was hesitant to visit, because I had a preconceived notion they mainly cater to dogs, I was wrong. Let me be clear. Most of the shop is dog stuff, but they're expanding their cat section currently, which makes me very happy! The owner helped me pick out this special cat litter, Cat Attract, because we're having some bad kitty bathroom behavior... And it's working! I also picked up a banana filled with catnip that is a VERY popular toy in the Carlson household (the cats use it, not us:). They also sell items from local vendors, like handmade collars and dish holders from Reclaimed Things. They also deliver now to the immediate area. There is nothing I can really say about this place that hasn't been said. The owners remember our dog by name, and remember that it's actually my girlfriend who is the name on our loyalty purchase thingy. Going in, we're so often treated to bags of samples - so much so that we once went in to buy food and left with nothing but samples, and didn't need to return for a week to actually purchase any. The staff is extremely helpful, and willing to answer any questions you might have about any of their products, or make recommendations based on your pet's lifestyle. They also have no problem cleaning up a bit of doggy accident, if someone can't hold it until you leave. The place is primarily a dog store, with about 70-80% of the merchandise dedicated to canine companions, but they do also have a small mammals section for cats and such. This is an adorable little specialty pet store on Ellsworth, right across from the East End Vet Clinic. They carry lots of high quality foods and treats for those who wish to give their pets the very best! There are also carefully selected high-end products, including toys, leashes, bowls, etc. This isn't the kind of place to come to stock up on all your basic pet needs (with the exception of food), unless you have an unlimited budget, but it's a great place to find special items when you feel like treating your pet. The thing that really stands out about this place is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I cannot even express just how nice they have been to me. They are super sweet to my pup and don't mind that she runs around sniffing everything and checking things out. They always offer her treats, and they are very generous with giving us samples of everything! They are MAJOR dog lovers and very knowledgeable....one of the girls who works here has given me incredibly helpful advice every time I've come, from helping me out with my pup's specific issues (separation anxiety) to vet recommendations to helping me pick out the right treats to get. Great indepependent store with a huge variety of only the best and healthy things for your pet at reasonable prices comparable to Amazon and Chewy, often less expensive or the same, and they offer coupons and have a membership club. The first time I went in, because it was in Shadyside near galleries, antique stores and interior design studios, I was thinking it was going to be a high-end pet store, bu I was pleasantly surprised. The people who work there know the brands and can make sound recommendations tailored to your needs. If they don't have it, they will order it. I try to go each week. It's a nice alternative to on-line shopping because you can see what you're getting and they have a nice selection of raw bones and food for your furry friends as well. I love this store! Being that I am a sucker for all things dog, this is the perfect place for me to go and get my Pooch some goodies and food. The one thing that I like about it most, is that they do carry some unique items that I never see elsewhere (probably because they are not showcased). One of these was the Thanksgiving dinner in a can for dogs. My little P-Nut loved hers. They are so nice and helpful there and truly do pride themselves on having the best of the best products. I love this little gem of a pet store! I buy all of my cat's food here, they have a great selection of different foods that will meet the needs of just about any pet. For example, I've got a senior cat who has allergies and an adult cat that is super fat and prone to hairballs. And they always end up eating the same food. I was about to find a food that suits both of them. My cats especially love the Fromm cat foods, but if you are not sure what foods your pet would like they are happy to give you some samples to try. They have just about everything your pet could need. I got a really cool leash for my friends dog that is made from recycled bike tires and has a beer opener on it. I was like, "Who needs a bottle opener on a dog leash?" You know what--I've used it several times! Their prices are very good, and the staff is super friendly. I recommend stopping here before going to PetSmart. Support a local business, and get quality stuff for your pets. Its a win win. They have a broad selection of very high quality food and treats, plus all the rest of the expected accoutrements of a pet food/supply store, all in a very bright, open, spacious, and spotlessly clean space, with fantastic, helpful staff and owners. I even forgive them for not stocking the particular food I prefer to give my dog, because a) they gave me a bunch of samples that let me select another one that he eats well (although I don't like the "output" as well), and b) most importantly, oh my gosh, THEY ACTUALLY DELIVER!! And at no extra charge! If you live near enough to them, yes, they really will deliver, and extremely cheerfully. All you have to do is call the day you need something, and it shows up by 9pm, earlier if they have enough staffing. This is allowing me to buy the larger bags of food, which I cannot carry myself, which is definitely saving me money - and wear and tear on the body. read more

I love taking my dogs here for a treat after they visit the vet across the street. I would never buy dog food or a large bag of treats here as it is very expensive, but they have a lot of treats that you can buy individually. This is THE place (if not the only) to go to for your dog's/cat's most well cared for meals, treats, etc. Although, i may say - i buy their grain-free dog foods and treats, etc - i would NOT recommend buying their leashes, bowls, or whatever. You can get them cheaper and the NEW petsmart that just opened down the street in East Lib. Everything else is a GO. If you need advice, people there are friendly and informative on what you should feed your pet. Still - do your own research and make sure it is the right choice for you. Wow. As a first time cat owner I had no idea where to start. I went into the Petagogy at the recommendation of a few friends. The first time I just browsed and checked out the toys they offered. I ended up buying a puzzle type toy. The second time I went in with the intention of asking about food. The woman who was working (I'm sorry I don't know her name but she was incredibly friendly and helpful) talked to me about the different foods they offer as well as explaining a little bit about why it matters quite a bit what you feed your pet. She said she has had cats and understands that they can be picky, so she gave me a sample of almost every food they offer for me to take home to let the cats try. The cats (to my surprise) made it very obvious which was their favorite. I took a third trip back and bought the food they preferred. And that day they were matching food pound for pound to donate to the Animal Rescue League. Bottom line: Great products for dogs and cats. An incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff. I've 2 times in this store and I couldn't fine what I was looking for: it was a puppy potty and XS cloth for my little puppy but they deserve 5 stars just because they provide great customer service. I was confusing about which food should I choose for my puppy. I wanted to provide her good quality, healthy, no grains, organic and free artificial flavor. They had a lot options and when I asked to staff what she would think would be tasty, she provide me a lot of samples for my little girl in order to know what my puppy would like the most. Update: This place is still consistently amazing. They really care about my dog Larry and give him very personal recommendations. They emailed me when they thought they made a mistake telling me an item was not in stock while it was, which was very nice because they had to look up my info through my dog's name, which they remembered even though he wasn't in the store that day. The staff are all full of personality and are not pushy at all. I know I've said this before but it still amazes me - I've been given many, many free samples here and told to come back when I choose the best food for Larry. This place is so unique and is just another example of why I decided to move to east side of the Burg...we had nothing like this in the South. They have ton of unique items that you would not see at your run of the mill Petco. My dog particularly liked the Doggles products. The store has a nice homey feel to it .
