Then, she said, you won't be able to drop them off together bc one of your appointments is for now and one is for an hour from now. I explained that in the past, I've always dropped them off together, and they hold one while they groom the other..Because I live twenty minutes away, it doesn 't make sense to go back and forth for each dog separately. She told me, she didn't think that would be possible because she wasn't sure if our groomer would have other dogs that she needed to have there... which doesn't make sense...I've seen them hold a bunch of different dogs while they're doing the grooming and waiting for owners to show up and pick them up. The other staff I've met are all great... hopefully they'll give her some customer service training!

However, during my most recent visit, I did not see my current cat's preferred types of foods on the shelves. I did see a decent selection of beds, collars, leashes, jackets, toys, dog foods, aquarium supplies, some cat trees, hygiene products, bowls, and some cat litters. The prices, though, were higher than what online retailers charge. This store had a few dogs and cats up for adoption through their Animal Shelter Adoption Program (ASAP). I felt happy that her preferred flavors were in stock and that the prices were typical. However, her dry food cost more here than from Chewy and Amazon. Furthermore, I did not see my cat's preferred toys and furniture, and I thought that the prices for litter were a bit high. I walked around the other sections of the store. My husband commented that a bird cage had many birds in it, but the birds looked healthy otherwise. The cashier immediately and accurately rang up my purchase and thanked me. At home, my cat enjoys eating her wet foods. This store also offers grooming, training, veterinary services, and an adoption center, but I did not use them.

Brett Reynolds is the trainer and I would recommend him to anyone that wants to modify their dog's behavior! We adopted a Min-Pin Terrier mix puppy at about 7 months old. He was social at the dog park and was very friendly with people whether at our house or elsewhere. Around 10 months, we began seeing some different behaviors in our little pup, especially when on leash around other dogs or when there was a fence between him and other dogs or people. It got to the point where we were no longer comfortable taking him out as regularly and stopped going to the dog park. We have since learned that our little baby suffers from something called "barrier aggression." I explained the situation to Brett through a phone conversation and a few follow-up emails. When we arrived for our session, we talked through specifically what we wanted to work on and then got started. I learned so much in an hour! It was not only helpful in modifying my dog's behavior, but also in giving us the confidence in training him properly. We purchased a Gentle-Leader collar which has worked great for us. We also learned certain commands to direct and distract him around other dogs, which avoids him escalating into a blind rage where it is very difficult to calm him down. At the end of the session, Brett brought another dog into the room and we were able to try out the new commands while we still had him there to give us feedback. We have continued everything we've learned in the two sessions during our time at home and have noticed a significant change in our dog's behavior. He's not perfect by any means, but seeing the progress he's made is motivation for us to remain consistent and follow-through with everything we learned from Brett. I look forward to more training sessions and possibly trying an agility class in the future!

When I went to pick up my dog, again I was met with an overwhelming smell of urine and when the staff handed me my dog he stunk like urine. I should have did more research before taking him there. OVERCROWDED AND UNDERSTAFFED!! I had another dog that went to Dog Stop in Upper St. Clair. It was so overcrowded that my dog would hid in the corner and a some point a larger do peed on her! I was unable to find any regulations as far as how many dogs per room, how many dogs per staff . . . etc.

I've had a few administrative issues with email/contact information so that could use a little work. Otherwise, I love coming here. I can't say the same for my dog, because every time she comes she has to step on a scary scale and/or get poked. But this is to be expected!

Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh (HARP) is a nonprofit that operates veterinary medical centers…read more(mostly for preventative care and NOT for emergencies), a shelter, and a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. This location in the East Side of Pittsburgh has a veterinary center and a shelter and also offers obedience training classes. In the past several years, I have visited this HARP many times. In 2015, I adopted two cats from the shelter (for details, please see my previous review below). These two cats still happily live with my family and me. Most recently, I donated several bags of pet supplies to this shelter. HARP collects new and gently used pet supplies for Ellie's Attic, which then gives the supplies to families who have pets and are financially struggling. I dropped off dog beds, cat beds, dog bowls, disposable diapers, a sweater, a training bell, etcetera. I placed the bags near the entrance inside the building. An employee at the front desk kindly thanked me for my donation and asked if I needed a donation receipt. Next, I asked the employee if I could visit the dogs who are available for adoption. Unfortunately, the dogs could not be visited on that day, but I was allowed to view a binder that contained printed descriptions of the dogs. I did visit the cats, and I felt pleased with the size and cleanliness of their cages.

The groomer had 2 1/2 years of…read moreexperience, which concerned me, so I asked him if he thought he was good with some hesitation he replied yes. When I picked her up, they told me the groomer couldn't finish the job because she kept biting the groomer. I replied that she has never bitten or nipped a groomer & I was certain the reason for the behavior had to be because of the groomer. The manager and I argued back-and-forth. He held his ground and insisted it was my dog, and I insisted it was his groomer. After getting home, I noticed that my Yorkie kept licking herself. I looked more closely and saw the reason why she was nipping the groomer. He had injured her with a large clipper burn near her belly. I took a photo & went back to the Dog Stop to show the photo to the manager, Caleb, who offered such a lame apology that I felt it necessary to tell him that it was no apology at all - a further disappointment, and I told him so. I asked for a refund, which he did give me and then I went directly to the Vet for ointment.
