July 24, 2024, I took my 7# Yorkie to the Dog Stop for grooming. The groomer had 2 1/2 years of experience, which concerned me, so I asked him if he thought he was good with some hesitation he replied yes. When I picked her up, they told me the groomer couldn't finish the job because she kept biting the groomer. I replied that she has never bitten or nipped a groomer & I was certain the reason for the behavior had to be because of the groomer. The manager and I argued back-and-forth. He held his ground and insisted it was my dog, and I insisted it was his groomer. After getting home, I noticed that my Yorkie kept licking herself. I looked more closely and saw the reason why she was nipping the groomer. He had injured her with a large clipper burn near her belly. I took a photo & went back to the Dog Stop to show the photo to the manager, Caleb, who offered such a lame apology that I felt it necessary to tell him that it was no apology at all - a further disappointment, and I told him so. I asked for a refund, which he did give me and then I went directly to the Vet for ointment. read more

Our dog has been groomed at the Dog Stop twice. Both times the work has been excellent. The first time the entire experience was excellent. The second time we were charged 30+$ more than the first. The prices bace gone up- 5$. But we were also told our dog had some matted areas ( she always does. She is a curly goldendoodle who hates to be brushed) and that she was not 'cooperative'. And then when we picked her up we were asked if we wanted to add a tip to the $130 grooming. The up charges were a disappointment. But I can vouch for the grooming, which was really good. read more

What a great place! The staff was helpful and kind on the phone and in person. We enjoyed our tour of the facility - so clean and well-ordered. They clearly know dogs and how to care for them. Because of the staff members' calm, kind demeanors, our dog was relaxed and comfortable when we dropped him off for an eight day boarding stay. We returned to a healthy, happy dog! Pretty bad. Dropped my dog off for the day bc I had a ton of errands to run and she hadn't been bathed in months. Difficult for me to do. I called and asked if she was ready for pick up. They tell me she's not there. What? They double down, triple down. Finally realize: oops, she's here. But she's had her bath, they say! I get there and they tell me she's just now getting the bath. She's hoooolwing now bc they are using a dryer bc they screwed up. They finally bring her out and I realize they've over charged me. They tell me the price advertised on their HUGE flashing screen is wrong and act exasperated that I bring it up. DONT give me the difference and tell me someone will call me tomorrow. I brought my dog here over the Thanksgiving holiday. I left him on Tuesday to pick him up Saturday. When I dropped him off, they were very on the ball about making sure his shots were up to date. One of the girls behind the counter came around and slowly introduced herself to the dog. We were told that, because he is unaltered, he wouldn't be allowed in daycare with all of the other dogs, which we were fine with. They told us he would get extra one on one play time with staff to make up for the lack of daycare. We came to check up on him the next day. Our dog does have an anxiety streak in him, so we wanted to make sure everything was fine. One of the trainers brought him out and he seemed so happy and calm. The staff was excellent; I have never boarded an animal before so I was worried about how he would do, but from the looks of him and from what the staff said, he did great! It's been 72 hours since he left and he is not showing any signs of illness. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is because about an hour into our car ride home, the dog started to yelp and paw frantically at his face. Once I got out of the car and checked on him, I discovered a tick on his face. I checked him over and found three more dead ticks around his body and a spot where it looked like one had been removed recently. I know that a lot of Flea/Tick meds don't kill Ticks immediately, so they can still latch on, but I feel for him to have that many ticks, another dog had to bring them in. I wish they would ask for proof of Flea/Tick meds along with the shot records. Other than that, it was a great place and I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to board their animal. read more

So, this place is convenient and I had to board my dog about 4 days after moving to Pittsburgh from Texas. At the time, it had all excellent reviews. I travel a lot and have boarded my 5 year old large schnauzer there. I don't take him for day care, but he goes to it half the time while being boarded. He seems to love it there. I even got him groomed there after being told TWICE to pick up my dog because he was too aggressive. Actually, The Dog Stop made me pick him up once too, then I took him back on Benadryl. I was just glad that someone finally groomed him (he has been groomed in TX for 5 years...) Recently, after a 10 day boarding, I picked up my dog with a terrible, very terrible case of bloody diarrhea. It was 100% blood and the day after I got him. I had to go to the emergency vet to the tune of $160. The following weekend I had a flight and had to board him again when he was still having issues. I picked him up 2 days later and the symptoms were still there. A return to the vet, and another $200 he was better. We believe it was stress colitis, but in 5 years he has never had bloody diarrhea. At this point, I'm afraid to return but I don't know where else to go. I'm not going to say that there is anything necessarily wrong with The Dog Stop. The people are very nice and it's a cute place. But, I am scared to go back because of the last sickness. I never did figure out what caused it, and the Dog Stop assured me that everything is sanitized, but you never know when that many dogs are mingling. read more

I travel A LOT for work, and when I can my Swissies come with me and because of that they are conniseurs of Doggie Daycares and Boarding nationwide. And the Dog Stop is by far theirs and my favorite. With out the knowledge of how well my dogs are cared for, I would not be able to travel as much as I do. I have been taking my dogs here for over 3 years and will continue to do so. Both the facilities and the care are great, but the people make the absolute difference. If you are looking for Doggie Day Care or Boarding in Western PA, the Dog Stop is your best choice. read more

If my dog gets sick, you can bet I'll be revising this review. I agree with everyone else - my dog LOVES it. I get her groomed here, and leave her the whole day for a free day of daycare (it's nice they don't charge extra on the days you have them groomed too) so she can socialize with the other pups. My dog Boomer stayed at The Dog Stop while we were traveling trough the Pittsburg area. The place was clean, the staff friendly and Boomer seemed to enjoy both daycare and boarding at the facility. He had no hesitation about walking through the door a second time. We travel frequently and finding good places for our dog to go can be tough. If I am back in the Pittsburg area in the future and need a place for Boomer to stay....I know where I will take him! read more

I've been taking my 10 month old pup here for about a month, and it's been a positive experience -- for both of us! No problems yet, other than her coming home smelling like a kennel. We WERE customer for over 8+ years until we had a rather unpleasant experience with the general manager, Hannah. We dropped our dog off for an overnight stay and were informed, rather rudely and incorrectly, that our dog was aggressive and needed separated from the other dogs. I asked why this was the first time I was hearing this and said that I think she had the wrong dog. Hannah continued to argue. When I asked to speak to Chris, one of the owners (both are named Chris), she very assertively identified herself as the general manager and an issues could be handled through her. Since we were going out of town, I left my dog there, against my better judgement. I also left his updated shot papers, as he was as the vet shortly before. When my husband went to pick our dog up the next day, Hannah said "tell your wife Im sorry, it was another dog named Jake." I decided to give the Dog Stop another chance, since we have been long time customers and took him back for a day of daycare last week, only to be informed that they couldnt accept him because his shot records werent updated. Isnt it ironic that they were given to Hannah during the first debacle? I think they were "misfiled" (aka...thrown in the trash). I requested another call from an owner, having to take my dog home, and once again, upset, and not wanting to talk to Hannah. I did get a return call from who else? You guessed it. I LOVE The Dog Stop. I bring my dog Razor there whenever I need to put him somewhere over night and never leave feeling guilty about it...well a little guilty I guess there is no avoiding that! Razor can be a pain as he is super high energy and has food allergies meaning he can only have special food and treats. They are always great about not letting him get his paws on any other food or treats and even help administer the medicine he needs sometimes when I bring him in during a time he is on meds. I tell everyone to come here. read more

I left my dog Kramer with them for a weekend. They reported that he had a great time and played really well with the other dogs and his grooming was great. But he has to take pills twice a day and when I was refilling his pill box I noticed the evening pills were still there. He was given his morning pills but not his evening pills. He seemed to be ok when I picked him up so I think the day staff is great and I'm hoping it was just a miscommunication with the night staff that kept him from getting his pills. I'm sure they are great for dogs without medical conditions. But until I know for sure they can take care of my dog's unique needs, I don't think I can leave him there again for more than a day. read more

I love the dog stop, I've used them countless times for day care and sometimes for boarding. I'm still giving them 5 stars even though 1 time when we left them for boarding for a week, the one of two dogs got sick (later found out it was a uti) and sometimes they'll come back with bites. But in all honestly, the same thing and worse can happen at a regular dog park. Our dogs have brushed past sticks that cut their sides. I've also had our dogs attacked at dog parks but that doesn't stop me from going there. They've been sick from times outside the dog stop, so I see no reason for all the negative reviews regarding this. It's not a health clinic for dogs, it's an indoor park, and with so many dogs in one area, it's easy to see how a dog can get sick or just carry a sickness. I do know that they require dogs to be up to date with vaccinations (which can't be said about dog parks) and our dogs get so excited when we just say dog stop. They love it there, we love it there and will continue going there. read more

Took her there again, they clipped her nails so short they bled for 2 days. Dummy me took her again, Last time she went there she was rushed to the doctors because she was attacked by another dog while in her kennel. Never again. My best doggie friend is one of the original East End Dog Stoppers. We started taking him there for daycare (and occasional boarding) when The Dog Stop first opened in 2009. His handsome mug even hangs in the picture gallery behind their reception desk which honors their "regulars." When they first opened, The Dog Stop was AWESOME. It was reasonably priced and the staff and the owners knew us and our puppers very well. It felt like he was staying with his second family when he would stay with them. However, over the years, our experience with the Dog Stop has gradually declined. It seems like their main goal has been expansion, having opened 4 (soon to be 5) locations over 5 years. With such rapid expansion of any business usually comes a decline in quality, and The Dog Stop is no exception.They've significantly raised their prices over the years, which is annoying, but I guess to be expected because now they're equivalently-priced to the other doggie daycares in the area. But it certainly no longer makes them a bargain. Also, they seem to have high staff turnover these days...or maybe just a much larger staff. Now when I take my dog in, most of the staff doesn't know him or us (nor do we recognize them). It used to feel like he was a part of The Dog Stop family, but now it feels like he's just a number (a very handsome number, though). As such, the "small business" charm of this place has totally gone away. Also, although my dog has never come home sick like some dogs mentioned in the other reviews here, he now comes home from daycare or boarding with a "kennel smell." This never used to happen a few years ago. This smell must be pretty common for other dogs, because now when you make boarding reservations, they recommend that you buy a "going home bath" if your dog has stayed for a few days (presumably to try to get rid of the kennel smell). A "going home bath" never used to be needed for my pupperoni, even when he'd stay with them for a week or more. Again, to me this indicates that The Dog Stop experience has declined in quality, and I wish the owners would have focused more on maintaining a good doggie experience instead of seeing how many locations they can open in rapid-fire succession. Another small, more annoying issue that I've encountered as of late -- they are super slow to answer the phone, and will put you on hold and forget that you are there. I've waited upwards of 15 minutes on hold on more than one occasion (the fact that I was willing to hold for that long probably doesn't attest well to how much of a life I have ;) So, in sum, these days I'd say that The Dog Stop is ok, but not great. And when I'm away, I want my pupper boy to stay and play somewhere great. We've been slowing using The Dog Stop less and less, and I imagine someday soon we'll probably start experimenting with other daycares to see if we can find one with that "second family" vibe that The Dog Stop used to have. read more

I took my dog to the Washington Blvd location for about 3 years, but we will not be back after our last experience. She was caked in urine when we picked her up the last time, her face was bright red (apparently from scratching at it), her eye was swollen shut, she had diarrhea and vomiting, and she seemed very timid. We had to take her to get groomed immediately because she was so filthy. No one called us to tell us she was sick or that she was injuring herself. It was a very traumatic experience for both of us. We were loyal customers for years, so it's unfortunate that the place seems to have gone downhill. read more

This place has gone downhill with a new general manager. I used to really like the place when Carolyn was the general manager. I have an older dog who has arthritis in her back legs. At home she can still climb stairs multiple times per day, and can climb additional steps to get on my bed. During a visit, one of the worker noticed that my dog was having trouble getting up, she over-reacted and I was told that I couldn't leave her there for boarding anymore, but I could bring her for daycare??? If she lays on her back legs too long, she can stumble getting up initially, but is otherwise fine. Interestingly, this vet wannabe was pushing their at home service for when I travel. I told them that I don't want strangers in my house when I'm away and they didn't like that answer. Additionally, the at home services are double the cost. If her legs were that week, why would they offer for her to come back for day care only? I even offered to sign a waiver so they wouldn't be responsible if there were any issues. I see feeble dogs in their often and they turned away a customer who travels frequently and spends thousands of dollars there annually. Based upon my frequent travel, I had to be one of their better customers! Where is their business acumen? If you like them now, don't count on them being a reliable partner for you when your dog starts to age. They will toss you to the curb or try to push you into a more expensive option which includes sending strangers to your home! Interestingly, I checked with several of their competitors, who after having my dog stay there, were amused by this story and told me that my dog is more than welcome to stay at their facility as she ages and they will take good care of her! read more

I haven't boarded, trained, or groomed my dog here, so this review is for the retail store only and is based on my interactions with the staff. I go here to buy dog food and the staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and take the time to give great customer service. They are also generous, offering samples of food, great for when my dog and I are on the go. My dog started having some accidents in the house and I suspected it was because I changed the flavor of his food. According to the brand (Fromm), you should be able to change out flavors with no problems, but I worried that perhaps that wasn't the case for my pooch. I called my vet (who never returned my phone call), AVETS (who are usually pretty helpful with advice), and then Dog Stop. Breck, the manager, took the time to call me back (I didn't expect this) and talked to me at length about why it might be my dog is having accidents. She welcomed me to bring the dog food back and I exchanged it for my dog's usual food flavor (and have had no problems since, thankfully). Breck and her staff are obvious animal lovers and great resources for questions about food and training. I was blown away by Breck's knowledge. She gave me helpful advice that AVETS never mentioned, such as giving my dog pumpkin to help his upset tummy. She even gave me a complimentary can of pumpkin when I came in to get his new food. If you have questions about your dog's diet or behavior, and your vet is too busy to answer, Dog Stop is an incredible resource and they will take the time to make sure you are a satisfied customer. It is a helpless and desperate feeling when your pet gets ill and can't explain to you how they are feeling. Having advocates like staff at Dog Stop offer not only helpful, tangible advice, but also peace of mind. Which is priceless! read more

I have had a hard timing finding a groomer that my dogs enjoying going too. We pull up in front of the shop (The Dog Stop) and my dogs are ready to jump out of the car. The groomers are wonderful and provide suggestions when needed, but I know when I drop my dogs off each one of them are in great hands. The pricing is perfect and the grooming service is amazing each time- never an issue or an unhappy cut! You will be happy! read more

I was told about The Dog Stop by one of my new neighbors I checked out the website and it sounded really great so decided to stop in to have a look around. The entrance of the place is like a store and they have a lot of healthy,hard to find food dog food and treats, which is pretty convenient. I asked the girl at the front desk if she could give me a tour of the rest of the Kennel at that time and I was told that they had "too many dogs" and I would have to make a appointment to see the rest of the place. I made my "tour" appointment for this week. I am sorry to say the tour did not go as well as I was hoping. The smell when I walked into the back was sickening. A combination of dried urine, and scented candle. I understand they are dogs and it was raining outside but still I don't think it should have smelled this bad. They have two smaller play areas and there were only about 5 dogs in one and the other had approximately 25-30 little to medium size dogs. The murals on the wall were cute but my dog does not really care about murals. There was a mop bucket and a running fan in the area with the dogs. I was told that the dogs were monitored but I did not witness a person in that play area at that time. The outside access was closed off because it was raining. There is another large area in the back and there were a very large number of dogs in with one person looking after them. It also had a mop bucket, some weathered looking pieces of climbing bridges, a big fan and an empty baby pool. There were also a few play toys thrown around . Again the outside area was closed off. There was a long conveyor belt with fencing on the sides for the dogs to get up to the boarding area. I was not able to see that area because they were cleaning? That baffles me because made an appointment for a tour and I thought that meant the whole place. The information on the website for this place is misleading. I was expecting a more pulled together professional atmosphere but that is not what I saw on the "tour" and is the primary reason I decided to write a review. After my tour I decided that I was not interested taking my dogs to this Kennel. It might be fine for some but my standards are higher than what they had to offer. read more

I'm now going to the East End location as I moved. I was really worried that the East End would not be able to live up to wonderful experiences I had at the Banksville location, but they are just as good! The front desk staff are so pleasant and sweet! Whether they are truly happy to see me and my dog or not, they greet us like we made their day just by walking in! I love watching my dog on the live camera! I watch the staff walk around the room petting each dog, picking up dogs for a quick cuddle, and playing with them. It's such a good feeling to know your dog is in good hands!!! read more

This review is only for the grooming and not their daycare or retail. We suddenly lost our normal groomer when they decided to close their business. Our experience here has made us appreciate our old groomers even more than we already did. I chose the dog stop because of convenience and because of what I could see through the windows on my commute--the brands of food seemed high quality which made me trust in their care of pets. I was initially concerned when leaving our pup off when I was told they were short staffed that day and that the groomer wouldn't know what a "normal labradoodle cut" is. When we picked him up, it didn't seem like they did a bad job, and I still wouldn't classify the cut as bad, but now that his fur is going back to normal from his cute puppy blow out, the errors in their groom are more apparent. We had one specific request apart from just a standard cut, to make sure his legs were both even, and they did not do that at all! So we are stuck waiting for his next groom to ensure that it is corrected again. We actually planned on taking him back yesterday to correct it, but did not have the time unfortunately. I'm also finding parts that are uneven--there are bits of hair that are clearly longer than the fur around it. They basically did most of their work on his face, which for him is most crucial when his hair gets so long, but they also trimmed his eye lashes. Are you supposed to trim a dogs eye lashes?! In the end, it was an ok cut but was twenty bucks more than what we used to pay and it's a good two stars below in quality. Also--they advertise that our pup should come home in a bandana. Maybe that would have made him cute enough for me not to care about the lower quality cut. Just kidding. We may give them another chance because the location is convenient, but I think we'd rather speak to the groomer directly than have the front desk girl pass on information. read more

Love the Dog Stop. I have a 4 year old lab/shepherd mix, and I've taken in him to The Dog Stop (Washington Blvd location) for boarding about 5-6 times over the last three years, usually for a stay of about 10 days. Firstly, the staff are super friendly and care about the animals. My dog loves other dogs, but is leash reactive and sometimes anxious, and they were totally understanding. They were familiar with his kind of issues and put my mind at ease about leaving him there. Secondly, I love the pup cams (new this year). I'm able to check on him whenever I want and know that he is doing well. And because I'm a little bit obsessed with my dog, when I recently when on vacation, I spent A LOT of time watching the pup cam. It was clear that the staff are constantly monitoring the dogs and clean up messes promptly. Obviously, I am limited to what I can see on camera, but my dog was on camera pretty much all day everyday. Thirdly, he has always returned home happy and healthy. I've never had any issues with injuries of illness, unless being super tired counts. read more

I love this place. My dog has always been treated kindly here. They know us as a family, they know my dog, his preferences, his behavior. I have used their kennel services and my dog is a regular at doggie day care. Actually, their doggie day care has saved my life. My golden is very energentic and rambuncious. A few afternoons a week at Dog Stop, and he is tired out and happy. He has been a few "doggie scuffles" and the staff has always been good about advising me about his minor injuries. I feel like they provide the human attention and interaction my dog requests constantly, too. I also have never had an issue with my dog getting sick. And we have been regular customers for well over a year. I could not be a happier customer read more

I've used the Dog Stop about 15 times for half day doggie care. The staff is SUPER nice, and love my dog (always remember his name, tell him what a good dog he is when he comes in, etc). The price is also really reasonable, especially since I don't feel he needs anything extra afterwards. HOWEVER, my dog keeps getting sick every couple of times I take him there. So far, he's had kennel cough twice, and indeterminate diarrhea twice after a visit. My vet stated she sees it a lot in dogs there, because they have such a large group of dogs. I love the staff and their attitude, but after spending $300+ on antibiotics, care, and vet appointments, I'm starting to rethink taking him back. I'll probably still take him when I have to have my dog-free time, but it's frustrating that I have to spend this much money on his health. UPDATE: 8/22/11 After giving the Dog Stop some more chances, I have discontinued going there completely. When I went to pick up my dog after a half day in June, his ear was bitten and there was dried blood all over it. They never even mentioned that he had been bitten to me. Thankfully, it didn't go through the ear - I know he can be a little rambunctious, but he's only 20lbs and has big, delicate ears (and he's my lil babette!), so I REALLY didn't appreciate him getting bitten and ESPECIALLY didn't like not being alerted to it at all. I called and the owner later apologized. Then my husband took him back while I was out of town and he caught bacterial dermatitis, which was another $100 and antibiotics to cure (and is still inflamed and red around his neck). The vet said it's because of the pools they let the animals sit in to cool down. Lastly, I watched one of the webcam sessions, and noticed that the staff continuously allow pushy, dominant little dogs to bite and chase my dog. I'm officially DONE with this doggy daycare, which cost me $150 in paid sessions and $600+ in vet bills. read more

We took our dog to the Dog Stop in the South hills (on Banksville Road). At the time that we dropped him off, I was slightly nervous because they did not do the evaluation of his temperament that they had said was required. We checked the webcam and saw our pooch twice but they did not post daily and we had no phone calls to indicate that he was not well. When my husband picked him up the following Tuesday, he was wheezing when they brought him out from the back. When my husband asked after it, they told him that it had just started at that moment. But the time my husband had the dog in the car, he was coughing violently. He immediately scheduled an appointment with our vet and our pup was diagnosed with kennel cough. I realize this is something that is difficult to avoid with dogs in a small space, but he goes to day care 3 days a week and has been kenneled previously (elsewhere), all with no adverse affects until this time. We will not be taking our dog to stay there again. As others have mentioned, I do not know if they are a fault due to practices, but I just don't want to risk my dog's health again. read more

I have used the dog stop several times, excellent service excellent staff. This year, a price increase of $6.00 without any notice. I supply my dog's blanket and food and treats. I have a 5 year old puggle. My dog was boarded over the Memorial Day weekend, I picked up my dog early Tuesday morning, by mid morning around 10:00 am my dog was bleeding from the rectum while he was pooping. I called my vet, I was told that the dog must have eaten something that his digestive tract could not process. I was told to wait if it continues to make an appointment. The bleeding stopped, I called the dog stop to ask why if I am paying for food, why was my dog having this condition. The manager argued, that this could be nerves - 4 days, and the dog has frequented this facility. The argument - there is no proof that the rectal bleeding was caused from something my dog ate at his facility. Andrew accused me of not wanting to pay for the price increase. If I supply food, and I pay for food - should I not expect my dog to have intestinal issues an hour after leaving your facility??? I have been taking my dog to the Dog Stop in the Strip District for over a month now after purchasing a package for day care. I have to say, I have been extremely pleased with my experience. Gary, Chelsey, Kim, Amanda and the rest of the staff have taken such great care of my pup, they are always very pleasant and show so much love and care to my dog. I have a lab mix and wanted to try and socialize him more with other dogs so I figured we would try out the doggie daycare at The Dog Stop. At the time, I had also read excellent reviews about The Dog Stop which was a big reason why I chose them. When my dog went for the temperament test, they said he was aggressive towards other dogs, so doggie daycare was out, however he could still board in their kennel if we went away on vacation. We ended up boarding our dog there for about a week when we went away several months ago and we had no issues. Last week, I dropped our dog off at the kennel because we were going away for a long weekend and two hours after he was dropped off I got a phone call to tell me that they were on their way to the vet with my dog because he was bit by another dog. When asked how this could happen, I was told that there was a "miscommunication" between the workers there and basically my dog was leaving one of the enclosures at the same time another dog was entering and they were apparently on top of each other before anyone could react. I am especially upset that they could let this happen because they were very aware that my dog did not get along with the other dogs and in fact, when I dropped him off they assured me he would be fine and they understood that he does not like other dogs. Over several phone calls, I was assured that the bite was not bad and would just need a couple of stitches. When I was speaking to the employee over the phone, I just felt like I wasn't getting any details and they were trying to downplay everything. As soon as I found out which vet they went to, I called and spoke to the doctor directly and was informed that it was in fact a very bad bite and that my dog would have to undergo surgery and stay overnight to be monitored! My poor dog has been in so much pain the last couple of days and I feel terrible. How could this happen?! The Dog Stop has paid for the vet bills, so far totaling $1500, but it does not even come close to making up for what we have had to go through. I will NEVER bring my dog to The Dog Stop again and I would recommend against anyone else bringing their dog there. The staff is friendly, their prices are good, and the place is clean, but it's just not worth the worry. read more

We have been going the the Banksville location since we got our dog. She is a Siberian husky and very loveable. At first everything was great! But it slowly declined. We boarded her while we went on vacation for a week and the pupcams were down and it was extremely hard to get one of the staff on the phone. When we returned we found a large scab on our Rosa's muzzle. As it turns out she got into a little scrap and we were not informed AT ALL! We contuined to take her to be groomed. If anyone knows how hard headed a husky can be its our family. So I understand when they requested us to give her benydryl before we took her in. We recently had her groomed and noticed she still had a ton of fur on her ( we request the furmanitor to be used on every visit because she has so much fur and she's tough to groom at home) and we were concerned with the heat and her body temperature. I took her to a neighborhood grooming place and it was revealed to us that there is no way they groomed her properly. We remover at least a pound of fur off her just 3 days after paying to have her properly groomed. We have always paid extra because she has so much fur PLUS tip very well and to find out that we're paying for services that aren't being done really hurts and ticks us off. We will never return and have found a respectable and friendly groomer closer to home. read more

We took our lab puppy to Dog Stop for 3 days of day care and on the 4th day we took all of our dogs for boarding. Unfortunately I never went into the back until I went to pick them up on July 2, 2011 I picked all of them up and asked to go into the back. I was shocked at how hot it was in the back. It was about 90 degrees outside and the heat inside where the play areas were was stiffling in addition to the kennel smell. I asked it there was air conditioning and I was told that there were large exhaust fans. I saw a conveyor belt as I was leaving and was told that that was how they got the dogs up to the boarding area. The upstairs also has exhaust fans. They advertise themselves as being "CLIMATE CONTROLLED". Two days after picking up my dogs, our lab puppy began to cough and became lethargic. We took her to the vet and xrays showed she had double pneumonia that was probably secondary infection due to the kennel cough. Afew days later our Cairn terrier developed same thing and needed to be taken to the emergency hospital. We asked to speak to the owner of the kennel but the manager told us he wasn't always at the kennel and that she is responsible for running the place. My husband left a voice mail on the owners phone but we never even got a return call from him. I was told by the manager that ours was the first case of kennel cough that they have had. However, when we talked with some of our neighbors we learned that there were two families that had dogs that got kennel cough in Feb and March. I also see that RJ's review says his dog got it several times from being there. We have now spent in excess of $700 for our 2 dogs for vet visits, xrays and medicines and our lab has had a relapse. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. We feel that it is rude and poor business practice to totally ignore customers when they ask to speak with the owner of that business. read more

Both of my dogs love the dog stop and the staff is great. The only problem is that my dogs come back really sick after an overnight stay and from daycare. One of the dogs got both giardiasis and tape worm and I'm pretty sure it came from there. Also, the younger dog always seems to come home covered in crap (literally) which somehow disturbs me. The dogs love it..but unfortunately that cannot go back anymore. read more
