Food was good but the service was even better if you come here ask for david best service I've ever had!!!!

I had a great experience at saltgrass. The service from our waiter Knox was amazing and the food is always good at this location. I had the blackened red snapper and my wife had the Porterhouse and the Porterhouse is the best steak they have we have it regular. But enough about the food. Our waiter had a table of 12 people and was also taking care of 3 other tables and never missed a beat every time that table asked for something he would swing by his other tables and asked if they needed anything. He would come back and give us what we asked for along with what that big table needed. He did a great job. He worked his tail off and I really want to tip my hat to Knox for a great job and a good experience.

We had our traditional 6:15 reservations for Valentine's Day and were seated just shortly after that. As you can imagine, the place was packed. In all the years we've been going to the same place, they've only seemed to perfect their system. The staff may (mostly) be young but they are sharp and very customer oriented. Even as crowded as it was, we could still hear each other to have a conversation. We started our meal with a loaf of their bread (YUM!) and fried mushrooms. It seems to me the batter on the mushrooms has changed, but either way they were fresh, hot, and delish! Our server had everything timed just perfectly so we didn't have a lull between appetizer and salad. The salad was fresh, as always, and the portion was just right...can't be taking away too much room from the steak! We did notice while ordering that the prime rib is back! Although we didn't order it this time, that is great news. Personally, I ordered a 6oz filet medium well. I did that because they do always tend to get my steak just slightly less done than what I ask for so if I ask for medium well, it typically comes out medium, which is my actual preference. It was exactly how I truly wanted it and was flavorful and tender. The sweet potato was done well but they got it a little too sweet with brown sugar and a little too much butter. Ordinarily I would have a glass of Cabernet with my dinner here but I noticed they didn't have any that I like available by the glass. They didn't have any white wines by the glass that I care for, either, and I am definitely not a wine snob. Not the end of the world. We finished up dinner with a slice of the chocolate cake to share, because even a chocoholic like myself can't eat a slice of that decadent cake by themselves. We didn't even finish it together. As my bf later commented, it was two feet high! (But well complemented by the scoop of vanilla ice cream). A great choice for your Valentine's celebration but don't forget to make a reservation about 2 weeks in advance or you'll be waiting 60-90 minutes for a table!

We chose this location for our friend's birthday. They let us decorate and our waiter was very helpful. We greatly appreciated the service! The ambiance was quiet and cozy. The food was great as usual. And we enjoyed our steaks! We tried the filet mignon and our friends tried the T-bone. He said steak is second only to Texas bbq. We will come again!

If you want a taste of Texas, Saltgrass is a great place to go. In my most recent visit I ordered the Chopped Steak with sweet potato. The sear on the steak was perfect. I don't want to leave out what I consider the best part of this meal, and that's the mushroom gravy. Delicious.

I've been a big fan of Saltgrass Steak House for years and frequently dine at the Austin-area locations as a Landry's Select Club member. Normally, the experience is excellent--great steaks, fresh sides, and reliable service that keeps us coming back regularly. Tonight, however, we opted for something lighter and ordered the soup and salad combo. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The lettuce in the salad was on the edge--wilted and brownish in spots--which made it unappetizing and not up to the fresh standards I've come to expect from Saltgrass. The soup was okay, but the overall meal didn't hit the mark. I hope this was just an off night, as we've had many outstanding visits before. Saltgrass is still one of our go-tos in Austin, and I'll give it another try soon

Sunday afternoon with Family, let's go to SaltGrass. Mmm, are you sure ? Ok. As we walked in, Robert meet us with a smile and follow me please. SaltGrass has that sort of down home, country elegant vibe. Yet clean & tidy as well. Staff looked great and Robert was very attentive throughout our entire visit. Great stories but he could ease up a bit on the sales pitch for the rewards card. For a moment I felt like I was buying a time share!! . You're awesome Robert. Our last visit the food was sub par at best, this time, thank you! Fresh hot and dang near perfect. My streak was just right, my lady's chop steak and potato was done very nicely. The tenders and roasted Brussels sprouts on point. Let's not forget the spinach dip and hot fresh bread. Ok it what just what is expected when one arrives for a meal at a steak house. Thank you for making it a better experience. I'll admit I was hesitant to return. Grab your significant other or grab the family. Stop in and enjoy a very good meal. Stay safe

Dining out rule from the 80's if there are more than 6 people eating I'll stay at home ! .. so to my surprise at my friend's birthday party we arrived to a table set up for about 20 ( wt? ) it was a Monday more of a slower time for a restaurant at 6:30 pm and I wasn't informed about the guest list? Hey it makes or break the entire dining experience/ so why not . The servers introduced themselves Ci-ci & Michelle (please forgive if that's incorrect) but there were a lot of moving parts around the table!! Drinks ( glass of Prosecco) were on point/ that Bread and butter oh my !! appetizers were flawless and she even suggested a couple of them / queso with brisket/ artichoke dip and the third never made to our side of the table (my Dining out rule ) I'm in love ! Then there was only one server taking care of the entire table after the birthday boy arrived / had some Uber issues plus who eats at 6:30 on a Monday (responsible people)! By 8:30 orders are in and the soup/salad course are arriving for 18 ++ waters & teas stayed full - and kudos to the young lady that pre-bus one end of the table that became the open / made into the gift area ( ok teamwork !) Halfway through my soup I'm am completely full not remembering that I still had a full entree to eat!! It actually there was more than enough room to accommodate this large party what a nice surprise! Entrees all on point !!! She didn't miss a beat !! Plus brought a to go container without even asking for one !! Yes yes and oh yes .. Plus there were separate checks / couple checks .. and she did it all with a smile and professional and timely manner. Ok guys the tip wasn't included so TIP and TIP AGAIN and TIP like your life depends on it.. because the evening was amazing and I may have changed my mind on my dining out rule !! So will I dine out with 18 plus people again ? Well if it's at a Saltgrass ( N Central Expy) and we can request that same server ... I will definitely be there again !! Omg the sweet potato reminded me of how my grandmother used to prepare!! Somebody in that kitchen knows what they are doing!!!

Even when we weren't sure about which appetizers we wanted she allowed us to split appetizers- a small portion where we got to try the apps. We tried the tenderloin crostini which was delicious. Along with coconut shrimp. The shrimp were ginormous. And the sauces were so good. Our fav was the mango marmalade. The best bread I have ever had in my life!!!! You know how sometimes they bring a roll to the table for the table to share? Not here boyeeeee Each person gets their own roll. I don't even know how to explain this heavenly bread. It truly is the best beard I have ever had before. I would come eat here again JUST FOR THE BREAD. The crab cake is out of this world. Huge jumbo clumps. Also comes with a variety of sauces. The wasabi one was our favorite. You must order the crab cake! My husband got the ribeye rare and said it was the best steak he has had, and he eats a ton of steak. I got their off menu item of carne asada tacos. The meat was sooooo tender. They don't use flank steak they use a tenderloin and it just melts. The mushrooms were Devine. Glad I ordered the carne asada. The adult Mac and cheese was good but just good. Brussels sprouts were good (not the best I have had) but I think I was also just so full by this point. The asparagus is huge!!! Oh the best finisher ever- the peanut butter pie!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!! I'm not even a dessert girl and I couldn't stop eating it. First time me and my husband were fighting over the last bite.

I loved seeing the steaks and oysters beautifully displayed, and the open kitchen was such a nice touch -- watching the chefs in action added to the whole experience. Our waiter was phenomenal -- super accommodating, attentive, and made us feel like VIPs all night. We shared the cowboy steak ($72) sliced for two and WOW... perfectly cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite was a moment. The sides to choose from ranged between $16-$18 We ordered the creamed spinach and it was rich and delicious. The wedge salad was fresh and satisfying. The corn brûlée? A crowd favorite -- everyone at the table was obsessed! The only miss for us was the mac and cheese -- good texture, but it didn't leave a lasting flavor impression. What truly made the night special was the energy -- the experience felt personal, warm, and inviting, making it the perfect place to celebrate my sister's 30th birthday. Wicked Butcher didn't just serve a meal... they created a memory. 10/10 would recommend for celebrations, date nights, or when you just want to feel fancy and fed.

The restaurant was practically empty, so we sat in the bar/lounge area. The host and other staff were friendly. Our waiter came off a little smug at first and barely cracked a smile. He honestly seemed a bit annoyed that he had to wait on us, which felt very unfriendly. My friend managed to get him to loosen up a bit as the night went on though, so maybe that's just his personality. To his credit, he was very informative when it came to the main course options. The lighting was dim and intimate. Ambiance was simple and modern. I ordered the sea bass and my friend ordered the beef Wellington. Honestly, after tasting my fish, he ended up enjoying my sea bass more than his own dish. The sea bass was like butter, just as the waiter described it. If fish could fall off the bone, this one would have. It came with rice, cashews, and a ginger miso sauce. The cashews added a really nice crunch and texture and the flavors worked really well together. I thoroughly enjoyed it as b the only downside was the portion size. Like a lot of nicer restaurants, you get one small piece of fish... about the size of my pinky finger. My friend's beef Wellington, on the other hand, was just okay. He didn't say it was bad, but it definitely didn't stand out, especially compared to the sea bass. We also ordered potatoes as a side and the white truffle Caesar salad. The salad was good and the truffle flavor wasn't overpowering, which I appreciated. The potatoes were solid too and paired well with the meal. Dessert, unfortunately, was not it! We ordered the Wicked Sundae. Our waiter had actually recommended the banana pudding or the chocolate tart, but we decided to try something else. We probably should've taken his advice. The sundae tasted mostly like ice cream and was missing the main part of the dish -- the brownie. Nothing to run home about, and it also happened to be the most expensive dessert on the menu. Definitely not worth it.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

Knowledgeable about the menu & great recommendations. Kev was a joy to have as our server. The food is amazing & love the ambiance of the restaurant. My only complaint...we came in early Saturday prior to Stars game. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked if we had a reservation. We did not, the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We were asked to wait. Waited maybe 5-10mins. No biggie, A lot of open tables were available for immediate sit down. Again that wasn't a big deal. I had asked for a booth & wanted to sit in front room. The hostess said no a problem. She handed us off to a younger hostess and she took us to a table. I told her I had requested a booth. In the front room only 3 tables were occupied. I pointed out the booth and she said that's for party of 6. However, we could have the 1/2 table/booth. Made absolutely no sense because that was for a party of 6 as well. I made this comment & she just stared at me without saying a word. I didn't want to seem difficult and took the table as she just walked away. Kev was confused as we were. No good communication skills. It was an awkward encounter. The restaurant wasn't busy at all & never was whole time there. Kev wasn't sure why she didn't move us a requested & was puzzled himself. However i apologized to him & explained I wasn't trying to be difficult, but prefer booth sitting and most times we will wait for one. We left at 1:45p and restaurant was no busier than when we arrived. Reservation/Booth or not! I guess saying all of this, your front staff need to have more people skills when dealing with your customers. They are the face and first point of contact. Again Kev was amazing & food was outstanding!

I started with the poblano meatballs and wow, so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, almost had that grilled taste . For drinks, I had a lemon drop martini and it did not disappoint. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fried chicken and baby... BEST I've ever had. The crust was seasoned perfectly, not too hard, and the chicken was juicy. I also tried the smothered chicken, just as good. And dessert?! Peach cobbler with a snickerdoodle cookie crust... hands down the best I've ever had. No notes. Shoutout to our waitress Heather, she was so sweet, attentive, and gave great recommendations. The manager Chris also came by a few times to check on us, which I really appreciated. 10/10 experience. I will definitely be back and telling everyone about this place!

It says a lot about how a business is ran in how they respond to a mistake. Drake's did phenomenal…read morein this regard. Went for a special night, reservations and everything, even arrived 10minutes earlier. We were not greeted by a server for 20-30 minutes PAST our reservation time, and to add on to that no water. We are typically pretty patient individuals, but eventually we flagged a waiter down, and from there the night flipped. I believe the server's name was Michael, great fellow and attentive. The FOH manager, Chris was phenomenal. Mistakes are inevitable in the restaurant industry so we understand. It is what is done after the fact that is a tell. They were great. Food was great and came out faster (On the fly). Now to the food and drink The cocktail martinis are great, cant go wrong with any. (We had the French 76 and Bleu&Gold) The Vin Scully Fries are great for the table Ribeye was great, cooked at correct temp. The Spicy Rigatoni (Zaza) was the favorite. The added sides were great complements but nothing stood out for us. Great FLUFFY cheesecake, I am not a fan of thick cheesecake, and this one was just right for the texture. We'll be back Valet parking Complimentary Limited street parking on a busy road Great interior, comfy seating

Pricey poisoning nightmare!…read more What was supposed to be a fancy celebratory night out ($725 with tip) at Drake's for my MIL's birthday ended with one of our family members in the ER and another 2 attached to the toilet (including my 72 MIL). This was roughly 6 hours after consuming seafood from this establishment. The frustrating part is we actually sent one of the 2 dishes back reporting to staff it had a strange odor/taste and was told we weren't familiar with lobster taste (being from NY this is untrue). My MIL was too embarrassed to send hers back so she ate her entire plate and my husband had about 1/4 of his before exchanging it for an alternate dish. As an emergency service provider I fully understand medical incidents like this can happen anywhere, but what prompted this review was way the situation was handled following my reporting. After reporting the incident to management we were met with what felt like an aggressive line of questioning about the members of our medical team and related details. I was told the incident would be escalated to upper management and the team would reach back out, but this never happened, even after a follow-up email. So, it's safe to say after spending a significant amount of money on what was supposed to be a special evening, the entire experience left a very bad taste in our mouths. At the very least, I would have expected some sort of gesture of goodwill or attempt to make the situation right -- even something as simple as a gift card or invitation to return for a better experience. Unfortunately, that never happened. Based on this experience, I would not choose to return and cannot recommend Drake's to others.
