Usually go to a different Salt Grass, but decided to give this one a shot..glad we did! From the very nice host who seated us, to the very friendly manager Eric who greeted us, to our server Stephanie who was just a sweetheart...all was great! My Filet was perfectly cooked and I liked that the fried shrimp was served on a separate plate. The Caesar Salad was delicious and SO cold! My partner said his Chicken Fried Steak was delicious. The pasta dish my wife ordered was super salty, good that the manager took it off the bill. My porterhouse steak is pretty good . The salad comes with the meal is great, the freshly bake bread is great, the side dish may be little over cook. The pork chop is pretty good it comes with soup and sides. Other than the salty pasta it was pretty good experience for us. Atmosphere was good and the waiter was good. I shall be back next time I go to Dallas. read more

I had a great experience at saltgrass. The service from our waiter Knox was amazing and the food is always good at this location. I had the blackened red snapper and my wife had the Porterhouse and the Porterhouse is the best steak they have we have it regular. But enough about the food. Our waiter had a table of 12 people and was also taking care of 3 other tables and never missed a beat every time that table asked for something he would swing by his other tables and asked if they needed anything. He would come back and give us what we asked for along with what that big table needed. He did a great job. He worked his tail off and I really want to tip my hat to Knox for a great job and a good experience. read more

We had our traditional 6:15 reservations for Valentine's Day and were seated just shortly after that. As you can imagine, the place was packed. In all the years we've been going to the same place, they've only seemed to perfect their system. The staff may (mostly) be young but they are sharp and very customer oriented. Even as crowded as it was, we could still hear each other to have a conversation. We started our meal with a loaf of their bread (YUM!) and fried mushrooms. It seems to me the batter on the mushrooms has changed, but either way they were fresh, hot, and delish! Our server had everything timed just perfectly so we didn't have a lull between appetizer and salad. The salad was fresh, as always, and the portion was just right...can't be taking away too much room from the steak! We did notice while ordering that the prime rib is back! Although we didn't order it this time, that is great news. Personally, I ordered a 6oz filet medium well. I did that because they do always tend to get my steak just slightly less done than what I ask for so if I ask for medium well, it typically comes out medium, which is my actual preference. It was exactly how I truly wanted it and was flavorful and tender. The sweet potato was done well but they got it a little too sweet with brown sugar and a little too much butter. Ordinarily I would have a glass of Cabernet with my dinner here but I noticed they didn't have any that I like available by the glass. They didn't have any white wines by the glass that I care for, either, and I am definitely not a wine snob. Not the end of the world. We finished up dinner with a slice of the chocolate cake to share, because even a chocoholic like myself can't eat a slice of that decadent cake by themselves. We didn't even finish it together. As my bf later commented, it was two feet high! (But well complemented by the scoop of vanilla ice cream). A great choice for your Valentine's celebration but don't forget to make a reservation about 2 weeks in advance or you'll be waiting 60-90 minutes for a table! read more

We chose this location for our friend's birthday. They let us decorate and our waiter was very helpful. We greatly appreciated the service! The ambiance was quiet and cozy. I've been a big fan of Saltgrass Steak House for years and frequently dine at the Austin-area locations as a Landry's Select Club member. Normally, the experience is excellent--great steaks, fresh sides, and reliable service that keeps us coming back regularly. Tonight, however, we opted for something lighter and ordered the soup and salad combo. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The lettuce in the salad was on the edge--wilted and brownish in spots--which made it unappetizing and not up to the fresh standards I've come to expect from Saltgrass. The soup was okay, but the overall meal didn't hit the mark. I hope this was just an off night, as we've had many outstanding visits before. Saltgrass is still one of our go-tos in Austin, and I'll give it another try soon read more

Sunday afternoon with Family, let's go to SaltGrass. Mmm, are you sure ? Ok. As we walked in, Robert meet us with a smile and follow me please. SaltGrass has that sort of down home, country elegant vibe. Yet clean & tidy as well. Staff looked great and Robert was very attentive throughout our entire visit. Great stories but he could ease up a bit on the sales pitch for the rewards card. For a moment I felt like I was buying a time share!! . You're awesome Robert. Our last visit the food was sub par at best, this time, thank you! Fresh hot and dang near perfect. My streak was just right, my lady's chop steak and potato was done very nicely. The tenders and roasted Brussels sprouts on point. Let's not forget the spinach dip and hot fresh bread. Ok it what just what is expected when one arrives for a meal at a steak house. Dining out rule from the 80's if there are more than 6 people eating I'll stay at home ! .. so to my surprise at my friend's birthday party we arrived to a table set up for about 20 ( wt? ) it was a Monday more of a slower time for a restaurant at 6:30 pm and I wasn't informed about the guest list? Hey it makes or break the entire dining experience/ so why not . The servers introduced themselves Ci-ci & Michelle (please forgive if that's incorrect) but there were a lot of moving parts around the table!! Drinks ( glass of Prosecco) were on point/ that Bread and butter oh my !! appetizers were flawless and she even suggested a couple of them / queso with brisket/ artichoke dip and the third never made to our side of the table (my Dining out rule ) I'm in love ! Then there was only one server taking care of the entire table after the birthday boy arrived / had some Uber issues plus who eats at 6:30 on a Monday (responsible people)! By 8:30 orders are in and the soup/salad course are arriving for 18 ++ waters & teas stayed full - and kudos to the young lady that pre-bus one end of the table that became the open / made into the gift area ( ok teamwork !) Halfway through my soup I'm am completely full not remembering that I still had a full entree to eat!! It actually there was more than enough room to accommodate this large party what a nice surprise! Entrees all on point !!! She didn't miss a beat !! Plus brought a to go container without even asking for one !! Yes yes and oh yes .. Plus there were separate checks / couple checks .. and she did it all with a smile and professional and timely manner. Ok guys the tip wasn't included so TIP and TIP AGAIN and TIP like your life depends on it.. because the evening was amazing and I may have changed my mind on my dining out rule !! The food was just ok. It took a long time between salad & arrival of our steak. Ordered medium rare - more red than pink. When it finally arrived it was medium - no red. They took the steak back but it was another long time to get the steak..I wasn't hungry. Called the waiter over to say I didn't want the steak. The manager came right behind the waiter with the steak cooked correctly. The manager corrected the bill by giving us 25% discount off the whole bill. That was very nice but don't think go here again. To be honest - Texas Roadhouse is much better - rolls, salad, steak, quicker service and lower prices. read more

So this was the second time we have visited this location in the last couple of months. We went Sunday afternoon after church with my gentleman's mother and my daughter. I will say this time the food was much better. I ordered the chopped steak well done with a baked potato all the way. We also ordered the artichoke dip for an appetizer. My gentleman ordered a steak and broccoli, his mother ordered chicken tenders with a side of roasted brussels sprouts and my daughter also ordered the chicken tenders with fries. This time my food was actually warm, but I do have to say if you're going to melt cheese on top of a chopped steak I would expect a chopped steak to actually be hot not just warm. They have changed the menu since the last time we were there so quite a few items that used to be on the menu are no longer there. The most unwelcoming part of our visit though had to be the waiter, Robert. I want a chatty waiter. It enhances the experience, but what we got was a slinky car salesman. I personally will never pay for a rewards card and he could not stop pushing it. I do understand that most likely the corporate office is forcing them to push this particular reward card, but it became downright aggravating trying to eat while someone is doing a sales pitch. And even after we said we weren't interested he continued on. Just ruined the experience. Overall, not a bad visit just wish we had had peace and quiet while we were eating. read more

I met two girlfriends last night at this location for dinner. We each got the 8 oz sirloin. Our server took our orders and asked if we wanted a starter. We ordered one. I got the Caesar salad and the dressing was so bad after one bite I couldn't eat it anymore. I ask for my meat to be cooked medium but it was so tough I couldn't even cut it with the knife they gave us. We asked for some steak sauce, and when he brought it he hastily put it on the table and said "I have other tables" like we were a hassle for him. We all looked at each other in disbelief. There were no customers at any of the tables around us! 2 of us got loaded baked potatoes which they only put the topping on the very very top. One of the girls asked for more toppings to finish the rest of her potato. So, even though I really wanted a good steak, I had a terrible steak couple of bites of a potato and a terrible salad. I didn't even try the bread but one of the girls said it was awful. The server never offered us refills on our drinks. Except one girl you brought her a second tea. The three of us got to talking and didn't realize what time they closed, but they were trying to get us out of there as quickly as they could. I didn't leave a very good tip because the server and the food was horrible. Steaks are not cheap, but when you decide to go out to get one you expect it to be good so you can enjoy it! This was the worst experience at a saltgrass steakhouse I've ever had. Both the food and the server or atrocious. And I will not be returning. read more

Sadly we did not enjoy our last visit to Salt Grass as well as our previous visits. The menu has changed and the steaks are prohibitively priced and not as good as they used to be. I ordered a 16 oz ribeye and my companion ordered a 12 oz ribeye. They came out virtually the same size and when I questioned the waitperson he assured me it was 16 oz. I did not want to argue. Service was slow. We will be changing to somewhere else for steak. So sad. read more

We were in town from Montreal, Canada - visiting the state fair, having mexican, bbq and all things we could fit into a short Dallas trip. Although there are lots of steak houses in the area, I wasn't looking for something high end or fancy as many places I looked up seemed to have a formal desscode so this wasn't something we had packed for. We settled on Saltgrass as we found a gift card deal at Costco where you could get a $100 gift card for Saltgrass and associated chains for $80. Saltgrass is similar to Texas Roadhouse which is something we experienced on the East Coast. I like this type of laid back casual vibe and affordable price point. Our group of 3 all got different types of steaks, shrimp, crawfish toppings, mac and cheese side and loaded mashed potatoes. My sirloin steak was initially too rare but the two other plates were perfect. The mac and cheese was velvety and very creamy, delicious. Although the portion too small for the plate it was served in. Seems like they only filled it half way. The loaded mashed potatoes were so rich, filled with butter and cheese to the point where everything was an oily mess. The flavors were good but over the top and all the extra melted cheese and sour cream made the potatoes too liquidy. I would not recommend this addition as it totally changes the texture of the potatoes. If I had to compare this chain to Texas Roadhouse, well Texas Roadhouse is a winner. Having been multiple times, I know the complimentary bread and butter is far tastier, the steak has better seasoning and the mashed potatoes served with gravy are superior. I liked that Saltgrass has a more southern flair, there are cajun options and crawfish for example which you may not find at other steakhouses closer to home. I know chains can be hit or miss - overall experience was good but I wouldn't come back since there are so many other places to eat steak. If you have a gift card or want to eat something casual as a group or with family, this is a great place. read more

I love Saltgrass, there are only few chain steakhouses I like and this is one of them because usually the food and service are consistent. Not here! I gave my Landry's club number to the server when he asked. My points weren't applied. The server was slow and got 2 of our 4 orders wrong. Drinks weren't refilled, we asked for sweetener and salt and never got it from our server so we had to flag down another server. The food was good but getting our appetizer at the same time as our entree really upset me. read more

First my bestie and I went for lunch today and it was amazing! Big shout out to our server Jedidiah!! My friend ordered the grilled shrimp with the wedge salad and fried green beans! There was nothing left on her plate - she loved it. I ordered a wedge salad and a bowl of tortilla soup. The wedge which had crisp lettuce, wonderfully ripe tomatoes and bacon pieces was dressed with house made ranch and a balsamic vinaigrette! It was so good especially on a muggy day in Dallas! The tortilla soup was amazing. Theirs has nice fresh chunks of avacado along with rice, chicken and tortilla strips. It wasn't spicy , which I loved, and it felt like good, healthy soup that would carry you through the day. It was pretty quiet but we arrived at 1pm so I'm sure we missed the lunch crowd. Restaurant was very well ran Manager less was very kind always checking making sure that we were doing good. Our waiter Tyson was above and beyond perfect in every aspect. My tea never ran out just awesome service. Restaurant wasn't immaculate shape very clean very comfortable. Enjoyed my experience all the way around will be back again. FYI, our waiter Ty could be a corporate trainer and train some of the people I've dealt with in the past in different locations. After several visits here lately that were just ok my visit last week was my last. Customer service beginning with the host all the way to manager is severely lacking. We received our salads and the entrees arrived about 3 minutes later. We told the waiter who delivered the food that we just got our salads. He looked at us and asked, "What do you want me to do with your food?" By the time we finished the salads the food had cooled quite a bit. The crab cakes were over cooked, tasteless and inedible. I informed the waiter who informed the manager. The manager came to the table to let me know he tasted the cakes in the back and they were good. I was so taken aback by this comment that I didn't even respond. My hard as a hockey puck cake was visible right in front of him. The ribeye was very thin. It was requested to be rare but was medium. After a long wait we were able to flag down a waiter other than our own to get some help. The replacement steak came out rare but was not seasoned. We requested some seasoning to add to the steak from our waiter. She then went around and cleared some tables and took an order for another table. I had to find the manager to get the seasoning and by this time the thin steak was cold. My 2nd glass of tea had something floating in it and the replacement tea (sweet) was barely sweetened so it tasted bitter. Any one of these things wouldn't be a big deal but when all this happens in one sitting it's beyond frustrating. We were offered one piece of dessert for free for our troubles. Total time for 3 people was 1 hour and 45 minutes. read more

Pretty disappointed in my delivery order. Ordered a baked potato and steak. I believe it is COMMON KNOWLEDGE that you don't put butter and other things ON. a potato when preparing it to go. I mean...when would you ever??? Even if I ordered it at restaurant, it would come with those items on the side or at least a server would ask what I wanted. Nope...not for delivery. It came with , I guess butter (tho you couldn't tell), small amount of green onion, cheese and bacon. I don't typically like bacon or cheese on my potato but I was given no other choice. Steak is fine...and I guess I'm lucky the salad dressing wasn't on my salad. Small victories. No bread delivered either. Just all around disappointed. read more

My husband and I went to the Saltgrass in Richardson tonight, and our waitress Michelle, was great, personable and attentive. The food was fast, hot and cooked perfect. When other restaurants are no longer in touch with their clientele, it's nice to have dinner in an establishment that still understands their client base. We did inform the GM of what a jewel he has in Michelle and how much we enjoyed her and our meal. read more
