We decided to split everything so we could focus on chatting, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We started with the fried pickles (a must-have!), and for our main, we split the Salmon Oscar. Without us even asking, the kitchen thoughtfully divided the meal and brought it out on two separate plates. The dish came with fried asparagus that was absolutely top-notch--honestly so good that I'm going to have to try replicating it at home--and those incredibly creamy mashed potatoes. It was such a small, attentive gesture by the staff to split the plates, but it made our dining experience so seamless and enjoyable. This was my second time at a Saltgrass steakhouse and I need to come more often. Loved the variety of the menu and our waitress Janiya was amazing! The interior really gave steakhouse feel but not too uppity - but classic down home steakhouse. Okay let's get to it - THE FOOD!! Drinks 9/10: portion size and flavor of both drinks was just right. No complaints. Brisket queso 8/10: flavor was good but the brisket was a little stringy. Would get again though. Chicken sandwich 10/10: the chicken was seasoned just right. The bread was nice and soft and it was just an overall good sandwich. The response after the first bite: "clock it" Steak and shrimp 8/10: the cut of steak was odd but it was cooked how I requested. The shrimp was also good - think they're frozen but no biggie, I still enjoyed them. The only thing I didn't care for were the shoe string sweet potato fries. We went in today for lunch. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because the first point of contact, the hostess, had an attitude. Brush that to the side and move forward. Our server, Sterlling, was fantastic! From initial engagement all the way to the end! He was a terrific server. He was very friendly and very much genuine. I told him I was going to post this because this is hilarious. We went to order our drinks and we started with water for both and he asked us "sweet or unsweetened?" I start laughing and then within seconds we're all laughing. He was very attentive and had good recommendations from the menu. Our food came out and it was very good. Try the truffle fries! This was our second time here. Both times we've had a great experience. The first time we went our waiter was the really tall gentleman, not sure of his name but he's such a friendly guy. Second time around we had Kennedy. Very friendly, attentive, and helpful with our order. To begin we ordered the Ranger Rattlers which were huge. They come in orders of 4,6, and 8 I believe. We ordered 4 and that was good for two. They were delicious and stuffed generously with shrimp and cheese. For the main dish we had the 8oz sirloin which comes with 2 sides. We both had Caesar salads, my husband had the potatoes which were really tasty, and I had the Brussel sprouts. Those Brussels were really good! The restaurant seemed really kept and clean. It's been hella long and I finally got to go on accident for a family member's birthday party and I'm not gonna lie after looking at the yelp reviews and the photos I was kind of skeptical. But I said let me keep an open mind because from what I've heard the place was pretty good, but that's to be determined... This location had a lot of parking and they were packed upon arrival. The place was lively and bustling fasho. The server was nice and she made sure accommodated. I ended up getting a 9 ounce filet mignon with mac & cheese. I always do my red meat medium well cause I'm not about to have my red meat mooing. No lie our food took hella long to come out! When the entrées finally came out, my filet mignon was medium well but literally on the cusp of medium rare. The filet was pretty good... tender, juicy and seasoned decent My mac & cheese was decent... it got the job done. The sprite was a little flat but I ain't complaining. I really didn't have high expectations. I will be back only to another location I guess, but actually nah I take that back I won't. read more

I met up with a family friend for lunch. It wasn't terribly busy and we were seated immediately. I can't remember our server's name, but he was nice and attentive. I ordered the 6 oz. filet (medium) with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad with cracked black pepper. The filet was very tender and flavorful. I also had a small piece of bread with butter and it was good. It was a decent amount of food for a lunch portion. We both had peach sweet tea and it was so refreshing. The server brought out an entire carafe for the table and even gave us to go cups with fresh brewed peach tea which was so thoughtful! Saltgrass is becoming one of my favorite casual steakhouses. Went to Saltgrass Cedar Hill last evening for a birthday celebration and it was the worst experience I've had. The service from our waitress, Karen, was slow and not orderly at all. We received our dinner salad before the appetizer and the prices have increased while the ingredients have decreased. They no longer serve tomatoes in their salads and no jalapeños in their queso. I'll not be going back to THIS restaurant as I'm pretty sure all Saltgrass restaurants are not the same. I'm hopeful for a meal without excuses elsewhere. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The customer service was lacking from the moment we arrived. Staff seemed uninterested in helping us, and it often felt like our table was being overlooked while others received attention. What was most frustrating was that when we tried to address our concerns, to the manager. Instead of listening or attempting to resolve the issue, he said " poquito español" to my Spanish speaking father. Instead of getting a co worker and trying to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, the way we were treated left us feeling uncomfortable and, at times, discriminated against. Whether intentional or not, the difference in treatment compared to other guests was noticeable and disappointing. We go here often. My favorite is the steak salad with balsamic vinaigrette. The service has always been good and it is nice when they remember you and what we drink. The steaks have always been cooked perfectly and the staff has been friendly and helpful. Went and tried to have an early dinner at 4p. Was not expecting a wait but 10 minutes felt doable. At the 20 minute mark after noticing 5-6 of the staff gathered around one of the computers cutting up and greeting each other when a manager walked up to the host station, I asked if he was a manager and he said he was. I proceeded to give him the rundown of the wait time while pointing out the empty tables in every room and the full waiting room with my fellow patrons who had also been waiting nodding along with my complaint. His only response was, "We'll get to you shortly" to which I asked if that was his only response and he said, "Yes." Given the already poor customer experience, my party and I walked out. She sent a mgr over to help due to the inconvenience. Both Damien and Doug seemed reluctant to offer a solution. With Doug even showing me where the food had been removed from the ticket but the food was rang up twice originally, so it was never removed since I had one order to begin with. That ticked me off. I can do simple math and my party felt like that was a slap in the face. Overall Stephanie was the only reason I kept my composure. She was the shining light of the night, treating her customers how she would want to be treated which is the right thing to do. There was a long line but only took about 15 minutes to get a table. We were waited on within a few minutes after being seated. I had the Texas T Bone, baked potato and house salad. My Wife had the Center Cut Sirloin, baked potato and house salad. My T Bone was ok but a little tough. My Wife's Center Cut Sirloin was much better. The salads and baked potato's were good. The restaurant was clean and the ambiance was Texas. Overall I would give it 3.5 but not 4. It's a bit over priced and for the price Lone Star Steak House is the better of the two. I honestly prefer Logan's Road House for a steak for about half the price plus the flavor, salad and bread is better. I would recommend you give Saltgrass a try for yourself. read more

The Service: We came here the day after Christmas, and it seemed they were short staffed because our wait time was 50 minutes. We waited because we had a gift card, and my brother recommended the steak here. For them to be short staffed, I felt the crew worked together seamlessly and hustled with seeming to rush anyone.
