Floating naked in a pitch dark completely silent tank full of salt water for two hours sounds completely bonkers, I'm aware of that. Might I mention that I'm also terribly afraid of the dark and bodies of water. So you would assume that this would be a horrendous activity to try out. But after having an especially stressful couple of weeks at work, I was in desperate need of a way to unwind. After scanning the tank with my phone's flashlight to confirm that there were no monsters lurking in the dark, I hesitantly climbed in. It took me a while to convince myself that there was absolutely no way I was going to drown and I attempted to begin to relax. The tank is filled with 10 inches of body temperature water and about 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt. The result is your own mini Dead Sea where you float effortlessly. It took about 30 minutes to actually quiet my mind enough to fully relax. So if you're a newbie, I would definitely opt for the two hour float session. Once I relaxed, the remaining time flew by. Before I knew it, the LED lights at the top of the tank lit up signaling that my two hours were over. I left feeling more relaxed and at peace than I have felt in years. Seriously. The pain and knots in my neck and back had completely melted away, a feeling that lasted for a few days after floating. Without getting too new age-y, I also felt like I had hit the reset button on how I perceived everything and I found myself feeling noticeably more creative in the days to come. I would definitely recommend this if you're a stressed out, anxious ball of nerves like I am. Salt7even is a serious hidden gem that deserves more recognition. Everything about this place is awesome - from their professional staff to the cleanliness. Ps. Your skin does not wrinkle or prune up in the water. It's the strangest thing! read more

Absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere with great energy. The gentleman behind the desk was very informative and helpful, help to put my mind at ease. The tanks were clean all around great experience would definitely recommend and I know me and my wife plan on going back really soon! read more

Really great experience! Friendly staff who explained the float beforehand (I had only floated once before a long time ago) and it was incredibly relaxing and put me in a meditative state. My upper back and neck feel a lot better/less tense since my appointment earlier today. read more

I was so excited to try this place out and it completely exceeded all my expectations. After my float I felt more relaxed than I have in years, and I only did a 30 minute float! I would strongly recommend that everyone try it at least once, but if you're anything like me you'll be wanting to come back as soon as you walk out the door! read more

Great service. I'm 7.5 months pregnant and I feel way better after my float. Clearer mind, way lower anxiety, and higher energy. Definitely will be floating again. read more

My wife, daughter and myself decided to try something new and came across Salt7even. It has been a very stressful year for us and we were looking for a way to completely relax and get away from our lives for a moment. Shaun makes you feel at ease while explaining everything. Once inside the spacious chamber I was concerned about floating but there really is no other option as the floating was effortless. As the soothing music faded and the lights dimmed I quickly found myself 100% relaxed. The warm water and size of the chamber never made me feel cramped as I am an average 6'0. The hour passed quickly as I believe I fell asleep while floating. I felt great upon exiting and was relaxed beyond anything else I have experienced. The space is clean and has a hip type vibe. I strongly recommend giving Salt7even a try some day instead of heading for a massage. They are located just around the corner from the fox theatre. read more

My first time here. Sean guided me thru the steps, first the shower and then into the tank. I was able to turn off the brain pretty quickly and had a much needed, very enjoyable float. An hour goes by very quickly, and i feel great. i will be back.... thanks Sean.... read more

It's impossible to accurately describe the experience I had here. It's a must-go. I came away from floating so relaxed, rejuvenated, and happy. Those feelings lasted for days. I suffer from a rheumatoid arthritis, which makes every day things like cooking, holding things, driving, walking etc, painful. I'm on medication for it, but the meds don't always work as they're supposed to. Floating with salt7even relaxed not only my body but my mind, and I felt better inside and out. I'm not trying to claim that this is a cure all for whatever ails you, but for me, I saw an improvement that lasted a while. I will be going again and again. read more

Had a 2 hour float yesterday. I've floated in a few places in San Diego an I gotta say this place is up there with them. Alittle bit of an eye sore inside but I had no problems floating inside of the tank. It was hot as hell inside so I had to open the door a few times. Only reason I gave it 5 stars is because this is the only float location in Bakersfield and I support new local businesses. read more

Going into my float session, I was initially nervous and anxious. The thought of doing something so different and out of my comfort zone really made me uneasy. After my float, I can easily and confidently say that I will be floating at LEAST twice / three times a month now! From start to finish, Shaun made me feel super at ease and comfortable in the environment. He let me know that I could take my time and there was no rush or "right" way to float. He was very thorough in his explanation of how to take the float step by step, so when I entered my private room, I knew exactly what to do. As far as the float itself goes, it was a beautiful was to get in-touch with my body and mind, and just disconnect from the world for a little bit. You start off by showering in a private shower which helps to eliminate any fears of dirty water or things like that. Then when you get inside your "tank," it's 6 feet wide by 10 feet long, so there's no fear of claustrophobia! The tank is filled with 10 inches of water that's filled with epsom salt which makes anyone float naturally! There is an LED strip that fades beautiful colors and music that plays to help ease you into the float. After 10 minutes or so, it all slowly fades and you're left in pitch black. In the darkness you're really forced to focus on your breathing and just relax! If you think too hard, it's gonna feel like an eternity in there. Best advice is to just let go and enjoy the beauty of being completely removed from everyone and everything! The goal is to fall asleep, which I did! Lol. 1 hour of float sleep is equivalent to 4 hours of REM sleep, so when you wake up, you feel absolutely refreshed! Also, don't be afraid to fall asleep! When it's time for you to wake up, the lights and music will slowly fade on to wake up you up as natural as waking up to sunrise! When you're done, you slowly get up and gain your grip on gravity since you've been floating weightless for an hour or so lol. It's important to not rush this! You've just spent this time relaxing, no need to rush and ruin it! :) Then you shower again to remove all the salt water. You get dressed and leave your private room! Waiting outside, you can enjoy to beautiful colors of the LED lights around the building while you sip on some complimentary hot tea! All in all, I would highly recommend this for anyone seeking to try a new way to relax and rejuvenate their body! read more

My friend and I tried this place out for the first time. We accidentally missed the appointment and did not realize it until we got there. We were attended by Sean who pointed out that we had missed our appointment. Despite that he was still willing to honor our session even though it was almost closing time. We greatly appreciated his accommodation and willingness to work with us even though it does say on their website that there are no refunds for missed appointments. It was a great experience overall, will surely come back! (And for a longer period of time!) read more

Floating is amazing; Salt7even is not. So if you float, there's no selling you on floating. You know what a good float is and you hope that when you go to a new place, the experience will mimic the last one you had somewhere else. It's that last sentiment where Salt7even falls flat. Let's hop on the major points real quick: * Not a pod. This very much feels like a homemade float tank is your buddies basement. With PVC pipes visible on what looks like, but hopefully isn't, a black trash bag lined box with a door. But it is wrapped in a vinyl sticker like a pink Mary Kay car. * Not 1000 lbs of Epson salt. I've been in 1000 lbs float built for athletes before and that was the best float ever. Shoot, even 850-900 may keep you comfortable. But Salt7even's almost feel like they're either using less over time, or, and this is purely my guess here... * Not properly filtering water. The feel just isn't that of other fine float pods. Yes, you're going to have some salt skim on you, but you shouldn't need to scrub like you just got out of a Motel 6 bed like I've done before here. * Lack of ventilation. I get we're in a tank, but this was ultra damp air. Almost like the kind that mold loves to live in. The rest of these can be chalked up to either being nit-picky or stuck up, but other lacking elements are: * Pod lighting for those are claustrophobic. * Unexposed pumping and water equipment. * Free earplugs. Yup, these guys charge on their website. Speaking of... * A working website. Yeah. I was given a gift of several free floats from a friend and the code isn't valid on their website. When I called to book and appointment, I was referred back to said broken website. * A ceiling. Again, call me nit-picky. So, this is the part I give the guys credit for doing something like floating in an area like Bakersfield. This is where I say if things improve, I'd love to go back and not feel like leaving before my time was even up. This is the part where I can't say I saw any bugs, which makes it better than the one in Simi Valley. But I can say I still have a free gift certificate for one free float that is expiring soon that I have no plans on using. If you want to give this place a shot, I'll gladly give it to you. read more

Very helpful and relaxing. The lady who checked me took the time to tell me what I may experience and techniques for calming myself down. She was right I had a minor panic initially but I followed her instructions and it worked. Go for an hour the first time since it takes time to learn how to relax. My skin felt great after and i was very relaxed. Next time I'm going for a massage first then I'll float. read more

This didn't work for my back pain. I felt the same after one hour in the tank. Although, you are required to shower prior to getting in the tank, I still felt the tank water was gross since there isn't that much water like a swimming pool and I could feel the water wasn't that clean. It wasn't for me. read more

My first time floating was at Salt7even. I've now floated twice, first for an hour, and then for two hours. I deeply enjoyed both floats, and I will continue. I am claustrophobic, so I was unsure if I could do this, but the size of the tank put me at ease. I have a stress filled life (don't we all?) and mild back pain, so I was motivated to try this. The first time, I think I fell asleep for a brief time. It took a while to quiet my mind, but when it did, it was just floating and warmth and peace. The effect when I finished was extreme relaxation and the pain in my back was gone. During the second float, I lost track of time. When the lights came on, I was sure that I had about a half hour left, but time was up. This time, I felt relaxed and slightly euphoric. I was very calm and the outside world looked very bright and fresh, back pain was gone. The facility is very spa-like, very clean and fresh. The owners are friendly and kind. The price is similar to the price of a massage - $40 for an hour, $60 for two hours. read more

This was my first experienced in a floatation tank, and I am so happy this business has been brought to Bakersfield. My husband has been talking about wanting to try this for years, but we never made a trip out of town just for it. When we heard there was a new place in Bakersfield he scheduled a session right away. He has gone twice now, and I had to try it too. I must say it is the coolest thing I have yet experienced in the name of relaxation. If you haven't done anything like this before, it might seem really weird, but it is actually quite a basic concept. The salt water enables your body to float and the feeling of weightlessness combined with the sensory deprivation of sight and sound, helps you relax. My favorite thing about it is that it is a total mind and body experience. I really did feel relief from some sore muscles I was experiencing from a workout a few days prior. However, the meditative experience was my favorite part. I floated for an hour. It took me a little adjusting to figure out how I was most comfortable, but once I did, the time seems to pass quickly. I could have easily done two hours. When I arrived I was greeted and given a helpful rundown of the process. Not only are they very helpful about walking you through it when it's your first time, but their website also has a lot of great info. I read up on it beforehand so I knew what to expect. The FAQ page covered just about everything I was wondering, and got me excited to try it. They also have a broad range of hours. I was happy I could schedule a session without interfering with my work schedule. I chose an early morning session and it was a great way to start my day! I will definitely be back, and I am stoked to have this new tool to help me with my wellness routine. **After posting this I was asked if I felt claustrophobic in the tank. So I wanted to add that it is actually very spacious inside. I think people tend to picture it as a coffin type of chamber, but it's more like a little room with water on the floor. (6′ Wide 10′ Long x 7′ High) When inside, the ceiling is high enough to stand fully upright, and there is only 10 inches of water. Which you will find, is totally enough to float! It's also easy to get out whenever you want. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable I felt floating for the first time. I did not feel claustrophobic at all and would definitely recommend Salt7even to friends and family. The owner (I assume) was AWESOME! He explained how to allow your body (and mind) to fully experience your float. For busy mamas this can be a difficult thing to do. The place was extremely clean, too. I can't wait to go back! Thank you, Salt7even! read more

I was exposed to floating while on vacation and thought I'd have to go to LA to float again so I was happily surprised to find one here in town. The physical location is tucked in the middle of a building and you would pass it a million times without ever knowing it was there. Very clean inside with showers in each room to wash before and after float. Large float space and very relaxing. Great for after a stressful day or big workout. I've floated here several times now and would go again. Good for relaxation although for me a deep tissue massage is much better. read more

Float Tanks, look this place was high on my todo list. I just came across 1 gift card, and it reminded me of how f***** discusting this place was. Me and my partner were going to drive outa town to try this type of deprivation experience, but came to salt7. There was hair in my tank. The experience was nice for about 10 minutes, then the air didn't match to water temp; what is the fucking point paying all this money to go to such a careless establishment Considering i gave it a try, i cut it short and got out due to a hole at the top of the tank i could see. My partner had the same experience, and the workers said they filtered the water. Bullshit, but for the amount i payed, they should have. I hated this experience, and most of all i hate that they doop people into trying this place out. Salt7haven does not know what they are doing. Keep my money for two people, and give a 30min gift card. Bakersfield people, they are crooks. Iv tried other places and salt 7 does not even compare to other places. read more

Update: I was contacted by Salt 7 and offered a free float to make up for my previous experience. I was very nervous about going again, but finally worked up the courage. The appointment began very similarly to my first in that loud music was playing in the lobby when I arrived. Though, when I checked in I made sure to ask if the music would be turned off once the hour began (as I was a little early). I was assured that the music would be off. I took my pre-float shower and got out 2 minutes before my hour. At this point the twinkly elevator music was playing (it is more meditation/zen music than elevator music). I started getting anxious wondering if it would turn off. However, promptly at the start of my hour the music turned off and stayed off. I was able to relax and have the amazing, rejuvenating, peaceful experience that I missed at my last visit. This visit was wonderful and I am very glad that I gave it another shot. Again, if you ever have any issues, just speak up. Don't be like me at my last visit! 5 stars to a wonderful business that truly seems to value their customers and customer experience. Thank you Salt7even for the free float, I was feeling very discouraged from returning, but now feel that I will definitely be back! I just had my second visit to Salt7even. My first was wonderful, relaxing, blissful. Sensory deprivation to the maximum degree. Exactly what a misophoniac like me needs in life. My first visit was a 5 star visit. Fast forward to this visit. I am about 4 months pregnant and was really looking forward to this float. I have been overstimulated and achy and needed deprivation in my life. That wasn't what I got. The entire first 20 minutes of my float was permeated by elevator music playing in the lobby. This completely ruined my experience as that low, muffled music sound (which was audible in the tank) is an anxiety trigger for me. Even with my own high performance ear plugs in tow, I could hear the dull and constant drumming and tinkling of the music. I ended up getting out of my chamber and crying for a while because I hate making a fuss. I considered leaving, but knew that would cause a fuss as well. Eventually the music was turned off (as previously stated 20 minutes into my hour float time). I got back in but spent the next 15 minutes anxiously listening and waiting for the music to start back up. I was finally able to calm down about 35 minutes into my float, however, after about 15 minutes I began getting anxious again knowing the time was nearly over and that the music would be coming on again soon. So, I paid for an hour float and got about 15 minutes of true relaxation. It was so disappointing because I wanted and expected my first experience and was devastated when it did not live up to my hopes. As stated before, I am pregnant and was really looking forward to floating several more times throughout, but now I feel so anxious and worried about returning to have the same negative experience that I wonder if I will ever work up the nerve to go again. If you are not as concerned about the audio as me, then this experience is wonderful. The darkness, temperature and buoyancy of the water are wonderful and relaxing. If you, like me, are looking for silence...maybe speak to someone before the float to ensure this doesn't happen to you. read more

The place was nice and the whole scene was relaxing. I loved the girl at the front. The only negative was it was a little pricy for me at 65.00. I feel it was a 35.00 to 40.00 dollar experience. read more

Had done a little research on floating and decided today is my day. Loved the easy online appointment process. The young lady working was genuinely nice and very welcoming. She explained everything and off I went. The first 20-30 minutes were difficult for me and I almost got out (take out your contacts lol), I've always had a tough time relaxing and not over thinking things. After I relaxed the next hour and a half went by in 5 minutes, I was in and out of a sleeping state. My back hasn't felt this good in 10 years and I feel so relaxed and mentally calm. Love this place and will definitely be back. read more

So I got my mom an appointment today and I wasn't sure if she would like it, but it was exactly like the comments said. Weird at first but after half an hourish, it gets better. My mom said it went by quick and the 2 hours felt like 45 minutes. I was glad she liked it, and this won't be the last time I schedule an appointment for her. She said she recommends it for anyone kind of stressed out and just need some relaxing. The only part she said she had a problem with is that she didn't like it was pitch black but that's part or the relaxation so I don't think there's much you can do about that. read more

Such a great experience. I loved the atmosphere, and the owner was very friendly. I'm currently 7 months pregnant and tried this out and it was the best idea ever. I went in for an hour, in the morning, which is definitely a great way to start the day. Right before I was about to get in I looked inside and scared myself because it looked so dark, but I got in and left the door cracked so I could get a little more comfortable. I feel like I didn't completely relax my first time because it is so new to me but the next time I come I would love to try two hours. I have been having lower back pain and it definitely helped out with that. I have been feeling so heavy since I've been pregnant and it felt so good to float since you feel so much lighter in the tank. If you are pregnant and have a lot of back pain, come here!! After you get out you feel so refreshed, relaxed and happy. Like I said, great way to start the day!! Can't wait till the next time I come. read more

This place saved my life. Ok, maybe not litterally but it deffinately felt like they did. I was a little skeptical about the whole experience. After reading all the reviews and learning as much as I could, I decided to give it a shot. Here I am after 3 long weeks of working my but off. My body was a mess and my back and neck were extremely tense. I had these tension headaches I couldn't get rid of. So I got online and set an appointment. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a friendly face and then I was shone to the room where I would have my floating session. The entire process was explained, they left and then it began. I rinsed off first with amazing smelling organic soaps. then i stepped into the chamber where I started my float. It was a little hard to quiet my mind at first. And once I was able to relax and quiet my mind. Oh My Goodness! Utter and complete bliss. I have never been so relaxed in my life. After my session was over I was so relaxed and felt so euphoric. I recommend the 2hrs for first timers. This is a great place. May it stay in business forever. read more
