I have floated here twice and will be going back in March to take a guest. This is a very…read moreinteresting experience that I've come to realize is not offered a lot of places. You shower before and after your float. It is a form of sensory deprivation. You go into the tank and it starts with a blue light and music, which slowly fade until you are left in the dark box. The tanks are very large so don't worry about feeling claustrophobic. Due to the mass amount of salt in the water you float effortlessly. It takes all the weight off your body. So much so that my arthritic knee stopped hurting for a while following my float. The tanks are not emptied after each use (I've found hair in my tank both times), but apparently the high salt content kills any germs/bacteria. I highly recommend this place if you're into this type of wellness. I did buy the guided meditation for my second float and it wasn't any different than the regular float, so I don't recommend paying that extra premium.

It's a crazy world we live in, and sometimes you simply need to take care of yourself. This is the…read moretype of care that you need to schedule for yourself. That's the way I look at floating. It's a unique experience. When you are floating in salt water, in complete darkness and quiet, you feel a relaxation that is difficult to put into words. I use this time as a meditation. Signing up for a float is easy. I use the website and schedule a time. Sean is the owner and takes wonderful care to see you have a wonderful experience. Check out the pre-float instructions, there aren't many, to ensure you know what to expect. This was my second float. I thought about what I wanted to focus on for a few days before my soak. This isn't essential, but I found during my first float wondering, "Ok, I'm here. Now what do I do?" To begin, I focus on my breath and it doesn't take long for you to feel like you're floating in space. The rest of the world just falls away. It's very peaceful. Everyone does it for different reasons and that's the great part of doing it. So try it and see for yourself.

Vedanta is one of the most harmonious locations I have ever had the pleasure of investing time. The beautiful southern Sierra Nevada envelop you in a prismatic and magical environment, and the lodging provided whether staying in the main house or container homes is cozy, simplistic, and ideal for the practice of yoga. Deepak and Kristin are masterful and incredible teachers, with ample amounts of knowledge and wisdom to share for any level of personal or spiritual development. You are guided and nurtured in a way that is incredibly beautiful and transformative. It is also healing, including beautiful Ayurvedic meals and long walks on the ranch. At Vedanta, you feel you always have the resources available to be comfortable and safe as you do your retreat. There is always someone to talk to if needed. The practice of yoga and Breathwork I learned at Vedanta has made a permanent and transcendental impact on my life. When I arrived at VSHR, I felt like I'd finally arrived at home. I look forward to future return trips to develop on my yogic path! I would highly recommend VSHR to anyone with interests in health, spirituality, healing or to those looking for advanced yoga practice. A special thank you to Deepak and Kristin for the many gifts you have shared with all of us! Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Namaste

I attended my first Art of Breathwork retreat about 4 years ago and have kept up the practice. The retreats are such an important refresher, taking me deeper and deeper into this powerful practice. As usual, the food was delicious, the room so comfortable, and the environment peaceful. I especially enjoyed quiet walks along the new trails they have created around the property, picking ripe persimmons from the tree, and walking meditation around the labyrinth--made out of lavender bushes! I also appreciated Deepak's wisdom. I am so grateful to have found Vedanta.
