So far my wife and I have been to Building Better Bodies Fitness about 5 times to do the spin…read moreclass. I have to tell you this is one of the best I've been to in a while. The little gym is real close to Downtown so it can make it really easy to pop over after work or if you're like us and live in the Northeast it's the closest place to hit. So Joe is an avid cyclist that has been in multiple Race Across America Cycling races, and has completed a few of the Bakersfield Marathon's. He has about 25 Spin Bikes arrange in the classroom so everyone can see and hear him give out the instructions during the class. The is also a video playing on a screen towards the front of the class of some of the Tour De France races. The class last an hour and if you are looking for a great cardio rush then you need to try Spin. I have on an average burned up to 900 calories per class with my heart rate on the high end of 170ish and low end of 140ish. Now I'm not in the best of shape so this might be higher than normal lol. The Spin bikes are in good condition and maintained by Joe. If you are a beginner and need some instruction he is there to help. Joe also offers a few other fitness things like Yoga, and Boot Camp. Check out his web page and give this a try you want be disappointed.

$5 a class for what is undoubtedly one of the best workouts in town--SPINNING!…read more Joe Peterson hosts, runs, and trains people for spin classes, bootcamps, and personal training. He owns a cute little studio downtown, where the sweating goes down! I haven't been to the other classes, but I can vouch for spinning. For five whole dollars you can rock out, sweat a ton, burn lots of calories, and have fun doing so. It's intense, but you get used to it. Check it out if you want to try something different and switch up or start your workout routine. For spinning, I do recommend you invest in some padded bike shorts. They make all the difference...TRUST me.

If any camp class has been cancelled or postponed, I've always been offered to go to the indoor gym or any other outdoor camps. They have many different class times and locations. If you want it bad enough, you'll make it work. Bakersfit Studio does a lot for the community and I am proud to be a part of their establishment. The workout is a core, full body work out. You put in what you put out, NO EXCUSES!

What I came back with knowing or not knowing about the company, how I was treated and most importantly denied pertinent information I was seeking in-person and made to feel inferior, ultimately prompted this review of them. I've included quotes as well from the conversation I had with the trainer at Union. It begins 4 weeks ago... I noticed in group pictures taken at a function what my mirror really wasn't telling me. I was really overweight! And I needed help! So I did a basic Google search of Boot Camps in Bakersfield. Bakersfit was one of the options. Because of it's convenient location to my work and home, it was the obvious choice. I checked out the website and their landing page was an overview with loud music that looped . I found it difficult to concentrate on reading because of the intensity of the music...finally I press mute. The overview page did confuse me. Were they selling a nutrition product with benefits of private gym workouts, or a private gym with benefits of nutritional education? Because I was seeking a Bootcamp experience I wasn't for purchasing nutritional products. I don't need them nor want them. But having this opinion, did it eliminate me as a fit? I hoped not. I really wanted the Bootcamp experience! The website isn't very clear by what they mean about the nutritional part of Their program. Not that I am against nutritional education! but I don't want to be sold supplements or shakes. To me pushing those kind of products are a "gimmick" I was left to wonder is their nutrition counseling based upon meal preparation at home or supplementing it with products they sell to their members. (I still don't know the answer to this question). After leaving them 3 messages on their business line during a four week timeframe and no one returning my call, passing their location on the way to work everyday, seeing the parking lot empty and lights off, I was excited finally at 6:30 pm last night to see cars in the parking lot and lights on. I just happened to be driving by. A guy who stated he was a trainer greeted me. I told him I had been trying to get ahold of someone for four weeks without success. He seemed irritated by my bringing that up and immediately said, "my name is... Your name?? ... Then "so what is it you are wanting? The trainer deliberately avoided acknowledging his or the companies failure to do a simple callback. If you don't intend to return my calls, why advertise it on your building? His next question he asked me if I had gone to their website because all of the information I needed to know was contained on the website AND people who enroll in their program purchase the program online and not in the studio. Yes, I had. It confused me that's why I am here standing in front of you. Hmmmmmm....Well sir, it's a true shame to discourage a potential client from the get-go by pointing out to them a need to get the "real information" on thewebsite. Afterall. I'm here at your studio, especially since your Facebook and your merchantCircle account encourage to do just that. After a 20 minute round and round getting nowhere conversation, about "gimmick gyms" my losing muscle in the past 5 years, and basically making me to feel under the scope...and his reference to my need to go online and check the information out, I was more confused and frustrated. Was this guy the owner...I hoped not. Because his grasp on the framework of selling his concept is thin, if so. And treating people like they are not important when they initially think that YOU are important to seek out is insulting! This trainer told me the following and I quote, "We don't have to help you." I took his words and demeanor as the following: In other words if going to the website is too hard...if clicking and making a purchase is impossible ma'am, maybe we aren't the gym for you. Do it our way or you don't get to be in our circle. It's that simple! I'm NOT going to collect payment or welcome you aboard here. Go online "We are not customer service oriented" said the trainer, in other words he said they didn't waste money to employ someone to greet people at their studio and talk about their program. The way they sell their program is online. You either get it or you don't. And they aren't wasting any time. Yes, As the trainer said EVERYONE PURCHASES OUR PROGRAMS ONLINE. " We are not like 24 Hour Fitness." You're right! 24 Hour Fitness would have in the very least greeted me warmly and wouldn't have made me feel like I was an idiot for stopping by and inquiring. There really is no crime in stopping by but that's what you made it to feel like. Bottom line: If you don't purchase the program online, you may meet up with. Mr. Resistance at the desk. Buyer beware.
