This place is a lovely spot and a great date night restaurant in Geist. I went for a late lunch with two other friends. The interior is clean and very crisp. It has a nautical theme, but it's not overbearing. The menu is seafood focused, but there are meat and vegetarian options for those who do not eat fish. They also have a great selection of wine and a nice cocktail menu. We ordered an appetizer for the table and we each had an entrée. It was the perfect amount of food. I really enjoyed my sushi and cocktail. My friends also enjoyed their entrées. I will definitely be back and can't wait to try some of their other fish entrées. Salt has three locations around Indy, and each one has a different menu. This one in particular serves sushi, while the one downtown does not.

The food was amazing! Split a roll and crab cakes for appetizers. Scallops for entree was 10/10. Service was great. Ambiance was mid but not bad!

Wow just wow! Was looking forward to brunch for over a week for our Anniversary, after I made reservations on open table. We love Salt on Mass. We arrived and were seated and handed a small one sided half page menu. Not at all the menu I was expecting. I posted a picture. Seems they have changed the menu but didn't change the web page or make any effort to inform people it was a limited menu. I apologized to the server he also apologized and said communication was extremely lacking , and we left. Very very rare we ever leave a restaurant. Very disappointing start to our day. First and last attempt to eat here. It was nice inside. We ended up at Lincoln Square. Where they know how to do brunch.

Came across Salt while looking for restaurants in town and I'm so glad we stopped in! The lemon butter sauce really enhanced the flavor of the fish and the risotto was cooked very well, I honestly cleaned the plate. We happened to be there for happy hour and got an order of calamari for $8. The artichoke crab pot was delicious, but a bit pricey for the little crab that was in it. Forgot to take pictures but the interior has great photos of boats that really drills in the sea theme and reminds you of fresh fish. The kitchen is also kind of open so you can see inside and the bar has beautiful green tiles behind it for elevated style. I'd come back to try the miso cod and happy hour grouper sandwich. I really like that anything from the Ocean or Farm sections come with a side of choice and Ocean items include a signature sauce so you can try different combinations!

First time here it was pretty good!!! Service was a little inattentive but other than that the food and drinks were good! We ordered quite a lot (5 plates) and drinks all for $175 total. In short, I'll be back!

Whoops, completely forgot to take photos of my food! This place feels like an upscale coastal restaurant. Love that all the seafood is sustainably sourced and wild-caught. Ordered the crab cakes and my daughter ordered a California roll off-menu; we shared a dairy-free berries and whipped cream. All delicious. No notes. Our server, Paige, was so kind and helped ensure my daughter, who is dairy-free and a pescatarian, had plenty of options. Everything was fast and beautifully presented. Will return, maybe for a date night or ladies night next time!

Chef Joseph here. The wife and I had my Birthday dinner here and let me tell you it was awesome. I had the Chilean sea bass and the wife had sushi. For appetizer had oysters and it was wonderful. The staff and service was excellent you couldn't ask for better. I recommend this place to eat.

This was really a disappointing visit. The drinks and appetizer was solid. My lamb shank was hard to eat. It was tough to cut and very hard to chew. I know I ordered lamb at a seafood restaurant....but if it's on the menu at least passably prepare it. The wive's scallops were also delicious. Overall there are more options at this price point with higher quality food.

My second time at Salt. We opted to go here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Shane was our server/bartender. He's awesome. He and the staff made the evening magical for us. The resturant was moderately busy, but quiet enough it was easy to carry a conversation. I had the same dish as the first time, fire pasta, it was that good. And it was just as good this time. It has a creamy sauce with some spice, white shrimp, clams and mussels. I love this dish. My wife had the special, pan fried barramundi on lobster risotto with 2 scallops. I tried her dish and it was delicious. They nailed the risotto, which some restaurants miss. The scallops were perfect, again not all restaurants get this. Eventually we will try their sushi. Because it was our anniversary, they gave us a dessert that was not on the menu, I think he called it butter cake. It was sweet, but not overly sweet. My wife was very impressed with the taste and its presentation. This is my favorite place for seafood.

We wanted to go somewhere nice to celebrate a birthday and decided that Salt at Geist was the place to go. We were not disappointed. Excellent service, excellent food with great ambiance. We started our dinner with Pan Fried Bread and.Butter Bean Hummus with Asparagus (5 Stars). I ordered Shrimp and Grits. I've had this before at Salt, and the second time was just as good as the first (5 stars). The wife ordered Lamb Lollipops with Brussel Sprouts and loved it. (5 Stars). Our birthday guest order grilled Salmon and was equally impressed (5 Stars). "T" , our server, did an excellent job pacing our dinner experience. Drinks, Appetizers, Entrees, Desserts were served with excellent timing. We especially appreciated the manager, who stopped by our table, to see how we were enjoying our meal. Salt did an overall excellent job on this Tuesday evening, and totally exceeded our expectations. If you have not tried Salt yet, definitely give them a try. An excellent "high end" Geist restaurant experience.

Our Matters of Taste foodie group came to Salt at Geist for brunch this morning. Our reservation was for 10:30 am, but we were told the restaurant did not open until 11:00 am, but yet, they did seat our group out on the patio. I arrived late, but it did not matter, since the restaurant was still setting up for brunch and did not take our order. Eventually, our server, Angelena, did take our drink order. A few of us did order the pomengrade mimosa, and we were not impressed. Angelena told us it was made with a pomengrade liquor and not the actual pomengrade fruit or juice, which explained why it did not taste that good. We all sent it back and ordered the classic mimosa with orange juice, which was much better and tasted great. I ordered the shrimp and grits entree for brunch. It was excellent!! The presentation was wonderful and the flavors were combined just right. The shrimp were huge and cooked perfectly. The grits had a very nice texture and were creamy and smooth on the taste. It was pure perfection! Everyone else ordered the pancakes which were wonderful from what I had heard among the group. The ambiance is very nice on the patio with a nice combination of colors and decor on the walls. Angelena did an excellent job with our group service wise and was very professional. She did her best with our group and we can be very picky and difficult at times. I give Angelena an A for her efforts and service. She did a wonderful job. Salt at Geist is a wonderful brunch place and though it is pricey, you do get your money's worth. I would definitely come back here for brunch or even dinner if I wanted to splurge for an evening. The food and service are top notch and high quality! I just would not get the pomengrade mimosa again because it did not taste good and was very bland. Come check it out!!

Had a great experience last night at Salt! Went for a date night to celebrate our first dinner out since having a baby. Our server Paige was excellent and even brought us a glass of champagne to celebrate. She was super helpful with making suggestions from the menu for us. To start, we ordered the crab cakes and salt & sea roll. My wife said the crab cakes were top 3 and she's eaten a lotttt of crab cakes. The plate came with two good sized crab cakes. The salt and sea roll came with 8 pieces which we split. For our main courses, I ordered the red grouper with garlic broccolini in their chili sauce. My wife had the diver scallops with grilled asparagus in a lemon butter sauce. They were extremely tender and cooked perfectly. The ocean section of the menu is great because they have a selection of sauces that you can choose from which makes the plates pretty customizable and gives lots of options to change things up. We shared dessert and had the bananas foster bread pudding. It was very rich but the perfect size to split. The restaurant itself was a great vibe for date night with lower lighting and a good volume level. We'll definitely go back for special occasions in the future!

Family time! The food was delicous. I enjoyed the serves. Our server was very patient and knowledgeable. I would have changed a few things and updated a few more with in the restaurant and the menu. Other than that, the restroom and the atmosphere was very clean. I will definitely be back to visit to try more items from your menu.

It's not much to look at from the outside - in small strip mall off Fall Creek about 2 miles north of 96th, but the inside is both luxe and comfortably cozy. At just 12 tables, you get your table for the night, so there is no rush and your evening can be as long as you want to make it. They also have a gorgeous little side wine room that you can rent for parties of 6-8 for dinner. And there's a little bar area that seats maybe 4-6. We had reservations for 6pm, so there were only 2 or 3 other tables occupied when we got there, but they filled throughout the night (& we left close to 8pm). Our server Shaunda was delightful, and the owner Dan came around and checked on all the tables a few times as well. We were presented with a cous cous amuse bouche, a nice refreshing bite to start the evening. Hubs had an Italian Old Fashioned and I asked our server to pair wine for me, so it was a Decoy Sauv Blanc with our first course - the mussels. We asked for extra crostinis in order to soak up more of the delicious sauce they came in. Next was the beet arugula salad, so good! For entrees, hubs had the pappardelle bolognaise and got an iced T, and I had the short ribs with risotto, paired with a glass of cab franc. Dessert was coffee (americano) for each of us, and we split the tiramisu (see all my pics). We ate and enjoyed everything! Total with tax was right at 200 before gratuity. So this is more of a splurge place for us, (of course would be less without the beverages we did) but we will be back. It was a really pleasant evening and another big win for me picking birthday places! #yum #ReviewsByRL

Once parked (plenty of parking right outside their door), walking in it is a very intimate, maybe no more than 12 tables or so. As soon as we sat down, our server came right over and explained how the menu is laid out and how the courses are brought out. I will say, this is not a place to go when you are rush. It is meant to be slow, so you can settle in and enjoy your food, enjoy the company and just be in the moment. We were probably there just over 2 hours for just the two of us. Chef Dan came out many times to chat with us and really made us feel welcome. Telling us different stories, walking us through what we were eating, and just made us feel like we were special. While everything was amazing, a few standout things I would like to mention: The Mussels were amazing, such good flavor so if you are fan, make sure you order them. The caesar salad comes disassembled, and the anchovies are sold separately, (I didn't realize it when I ordered it), we ordered a few desserts and they were all amazing. Can't go wrong there.

However, the pasta choices are only rigatoni or spaghetti. From the pictures yes they really do have a pizza oven, which is fantastic The calamari was great, especially because it contained tentacles. However, at this price point, the plate was pathetically filled with barely anything. So they're charging high prices, trying to present themselves as a great place to be, and yet are feeding you less than the competitors out there. Our server was very nice, however did not know what tentacles were. Our server was slightly attentive but slow. The two pasta dishes we ordered were very disappointing. The sauce tasted like they came out of a jar and they were definitely not homemade or made from scratch in any way shape or form. The cheese is as well tasted like they came out of a bag and were not shaved or cut fresh. Unfortunately, I can even do the simple pasta better at home. Further, the alla Norma I was playing a game of trying to find the eggplant. My partner got the Bolognese and you could not find any meat in it whatsoever. It was very disappointing. By the time we left the place was packed, so maybe they are doing something right but frankly from three dishes, this was a huge disappointment and frankly a waste of money There are lots of other Italian places in the fishers and Carmel areas please go there.

You can't stand and mingle w others that are sitting in the bar chairs bc you'll be in the way of a server or other patrons trying to get seated. I loved the red wine, filet mignon steak, Mac and cheese, asparagus and potatoes. My guy got the Wagyu steak, and to be honest- we were pretty disappointed. He ate it but he was wishing he was eating my steak. Ha! We also ordered the mushrooms-- I would not order again, they were sub-par. There was something in the sauce that just wasn't hitting the palette right. We usually love the shrooms the most when we go places, but not this night. But hey! You can't win em all! It was hopping on a Friday night. I had been wanting to come here for a long time.. Everyone I know says this place is really good. This is a 3.5 star review. The bruschetta was 4 pieces and soggy. It was also 15 dollars. They don't serve table bread for free so I ordered some for $4 and it was about 5 1/2 slices of the same bread they used for the bruschetta. It was served with a bowl of oil with balsamic vinegar. I also asked for my pasta to be saucy and the waitress looked at me and she said, do you mean you want extra sauce? So for $2 extra I feel I got a normal amount of sauce so I'm not sure what a regular amount looks like. Unfortunately the pasta was pre-denté. Everyone else's dishes were steaming hot and the pasta was visibly able to be twirled around a fork. Mine was warm and I had to cut it with a spoon and fork just to get it separated for many bites, which were very chewy, almost hard. The ragù was fine. The atmosphere was nice for dinner. I read some other reviews and they are definitely mixed. One of my friends who had been before warned me after I was excited to initially try the cheese wheel pasta, to be careful. She said hers was wet and vodka flavored, so I didn't get it. Similar reviews said the same. I will say the calamari was some of the best I've had lately. Not chewy at all and a lovely light batter, served with tomato sauce. I did find it odd that the sauce was cold. Everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals so this gets the 3.5 stars.
