Mexican food is supposed to be a pretty good call in the area. Three of us went out to dinner and all of us felt the same way, good, but not necessarily a place to return to. After waiting quite a while for a server to finally show up, we ordered some margaritas to kick the dinner off. Chips, salsa, and cheese dip quickly made their way to the table. The cheese dip did not come free, we ordered that. The chips were warm and fresh. The salsa was good and tangy. The cheese sauce was...meh. I chose the 30.a meal which was a fajita with beef, chicken, and shrimp. It included Mexican rice and beans. Before the meal arrived, warm wheat tacos made their way to the dinner. Thought it was another couple minutes before the dinner made it, the tortillas were nice and fresh. The beans were good, the rice was good, the side of guacamole and lettuce left much to be desired. Salsa's Grill in Pearl, Ms. was the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever experienced. I went in to order a large queso cheese dip and chips to go for a group of 4 of us to eat. they were already charging $5 more for the to go order than the price if you ate in the restaurant. I am not really sure what the extra $5 is for since they put the cheese dip in a 5 cents Styrofoam cup and the chips in a 5 cents paper bag but the really insane part was when I asked the manager for an extra bag of chips since it was 4 of us that was going to be sharing the dip. He said no only 1 bag of chips. I proceeded to ask him if they charge the customer extra if they request an extra basket of chips and he said yes. If this is true Salsa's would be the only Mexican restaurant I have ever been too that would only give the table one basket of chips and then start charging if they want another basket. The manager of this restaurant should never be front of house dealing with customers because he doesn't speak English very good and does nothing to give the customer a good experience. #1 Salsa's Grill is way overpriced compared to other Mexican restaurants. It is in an old Shoney's building and the property is not being maintained. The city should go in to inspect this establishment. Here are some other Mexican restaurants in the area that have great customer service and has great value for their food. El Potrillio, Margaritas Mexican restaurant, Panchos Cantina & Grill. These restaurants will not charge you extra for a second basket of chips and will give you much better service. I felt like I was on candid camera and somebody was going to jump out and say fooled you. That's how bad the service was and how crazy it is that a manager in a Mexican restaurant would charge you for a second basket of chips. Avoid Salsa's Mexican rundown restaurant and save yourself the headache. read more

It was decent. We tried it in their new location. Inside is nice and much more space than their old location. They may think about some type of noise dampening materials. It was very loud. It's odd that if you order ala' cart, you are charged for chips and salsa. The chips were cold and tough. My husband had beef burritos. I had the pollo adobe. It's decent and we wouldn't deter anyone from going. IMO, it's just not as good as some other Mexican restaurants a few miles up the road. read more

I was in the Jackson, Mississippi area for business and I got here kind of late and was just undecided what to have after I found out that a restaurant that I usually go to, the Lost Cajun, was not open on this particular evening I ended up heading over do this particular restaurants and in hindsight, I have to say that I am glad that I did. For starters, the service was very good. They brought me the chips and salsa and I have to say that while a lot of places will let me down, I enjoyed the chips and salsa here. The menu is huge so it was a bit tough to decide what I wanted to eat. With the recommendation of my server, I went with the California Burrito. Whenever I see the words California Burrito, my first thought is that it will include french fries. This one did not, however it had all the proteins and several vegetables all wrapped up in a burrito and topped with cheese sauce. This description alone should Intrigue you and I have to say that it was an absolute joy to eat. And the prices here are very good. The California burrito was approximately ten dollars. Despite the fact that it was kind of late, the restaurant was packed and with the quality of food and service combined with the price point, i can see why. Stopped at Salsa Grill while stopping in Jackson overnight while on a road trip. This was the third time in the past five years we have stopped here. The service is fast and waiter was friendly. The food was amazing. Some of the best guacamole I've ever eaten. The server that was supposed to be ours I think was a manager or something so was doing 75 things so he was terrible. Look at other reviews! The hostess (about 4'11 and maybe 20 something) is ruining this restaurant's reputation! If you have been treated rudely by one of their employees PLEASE submit a review!!! All we did was walk in and immediately were treated rudely!!! I have NEVER had a hostess be soooo rude!! She made it very obvious we weren't welcome there! She was maybe 5ft and around 20 something incase you encounter her. We asked for two high chairs, she repeated what we asked, rolled her eyes and started walking towards a table and she didn't tell us to follow her. Threw the menus on the table and walked off!!! Never said a word to us or brought our high chairs!!! The workers were on their phones and guy server was laughing while looking at us as we left!!!! The food was ok, just not enough flavor. Very bland. Mexican food should be at least a little spicy, but none of their food here was spicy. There were no jalapeños in any of the food. The salsa only tasted like tomatoes, no jalapeños or chili powder. The chili relleno wasn't spicy at all, it only tasted like cheese. The shredded chicken tacos had no flavor whatsoever. The food was ok. But the service was the worst I've had in 28 years. They had a BOGO special. We ordered one, got the other one. Our ticket was double charged. When I asked why, he said it's because it's a BOGO per customer. So we asked why we didn't get our second serving if we were being charged for it. He said it's because "we didn't ask". Very flavorful Tex-Mex food. I'd definitely go back if I pass through this area again. My husband had the chile rellenos dinner and I had 2 vegan tostadas. Everything was delicious! My wife and I went to Salsa's in Pearl, MS this evening. The food was quite good, cleanliness was fine. However ... they have happy hour from 4-9 PM. Two-for-one price margaritas. So I said, "I'll have the two-for-one happy hour deal." And the waiter says, "I'll bring you the second one in a little while." So I said, "No, I want them both now. One for me and one for my wife." And the waiter says, "No, only one can drink the two margaritas in the happy hour deal!" Are you kidding me!?!?!?!? What danged difference does it make to Salsa's?!?!? Why should they care if one person drinks two or if two people drink two? They sell the same amount and make the same amount of money! Who are they to make such a crazy policy?!?! This is insane.
