Went in on a Tuesday night. Our waiter said happy hour lasts all day. The margaritas ARE good at $3. We liked the semi-dark atmosphere. The place was about 80% full. We got the Verde enchiladas and Sour Cream Chicken enchiladas so we could compare with our usual local place. Both dishes were very good! Service was attentive and friendly. I think I have a new fav! read more

More like 3.5 stars. Okay okay, so maybe it was my fault that I wasn't in the mood for Tex-mex food when my family stumbled upon this restaurant because it was one of the few places still open at 10 PM for dinner. I ordered the Grilled Salmon Salad, which I know is weird, but I do appreciate that they had healthy alternatives instead of the heavier entree options. The salad was definitely healthy, the dressing was very light, but reminded me of a watery salsa. I wish there were more toppings on the salad, but instead I got two slices of cucumber and tomato. And not enough queso fresco. However, the salmon was nicely grilled and I thought there was a decent amount of that at least. I just wish it was a little tastier, but it was a solid healthy option. Service was a little slow, considering that it wasn't very packed. We almost thought they forget to bring us an extra plate because it took them almost 10 minutes to bring us one. The bean dip was very yummy and very filling! (Which is another reason why I opted for a lighter entree.) Their tex mex entrees are generous and priced reasonably. I am interested in trying their brisket tacos, so I will probably come back when I'm in the mood and skip the salad (Sorry for trying to be healthy...) read more

My first time here, my mother loves this place. We go to our table and it's extremely crowded inside and the hostess/owner maybe Theresa is walking us back to a table near the restroom booth that will be difficult for my mother to get in & out due to non visible mobility issues, due to the large party of like 12-15 people next to the booth. My mom asks for another table and Teresa slams our menus down and slams each set of flatware down in protest. I watched her seat the next party with a smile, no scowl, and she gently placed the flatware down... message received Theresa! We just parked in the handicapped spot outside your establishment and you copped a tude at her request for a table with better acces. read more

The bean dip is a surprise and nice treat with the chips and salsa. I have not found a meal that I am crazy about yet but I am going back to find one. The steak is tender and the green salsa they serve on food is FIRE! :) Will be back. read more

Sweetie and I hosted a friend's birthday party here for 15. I was a little worried about how such a small place would handle a big group on a busy Friday night, but it couldn't have been better. We were seated about 20 minutes after we arrived, I did stop in a week before to tell them to expect us. Everything was great, drinks, food and the service was outstanding. Our friends all lived Salsa Mex. We have done large group things at big, well known restaurants and had disastrous results. So glad I gave the small, local owned place a chance! Thanks so much, Salsa Mex! read more

The food is very fresh and very delicious! I had the ground beef tacos and they were seasoned perfectly. My lunch buddy had enchiladas that were perfectly done. The tres leches cake is the best I have had at any restaurant. It's a 20 min drive for me to get there but I can see myself there twice a week or more! read more

Great hole in the wall Tex-Mex place. Brisket Taco's were very good. Margarita's were great but very small. Bean dip was very good. Wife complained about it being loud but hey, it's a hole in the wall place.. read more

Me and my friends are coming here for a while now and i thought it will be nice to share how much we love this place. The first feeling you get is the family business touch. The food is fresh, cooked well and tasty. The portions are big and you can see that the waiters work there for a while, they care and they know everything inside and out. They are very flexible with the menu and never charged us extra for the changes or small ad on (like tortillas...). We will definitely continue coming here read more

The best service with really great food and drinks! Fajitas for two, you will have leftovers! Pork fajitas are the best! Homemade tortillas top it off! Great prices and attentive ownership! read more

Today I visit Salsa Tex Mex for lunch cravings for fajitas. I had choices of several other restaurants including one with a special. Salsa was a little further distance wise but the reviews all looked good. Service was excellent. I was greeted quickly at the door and sat immediately. And, drink order taken. Chips, salsa and bean dip were provided. I enjoyed the salsa which was a little spicy/hot. I choose the lunch combo steak and pork fajitas. Im not a guac fan so they sub cheese. I also asked for fresh sliced jalepenos. The fajitas were good/tasty. The meat was tender, not dry. The veggies: onion and bell pepper were grilled but still crisp. Refried beans good. Side of pico, sour cream and cheese all fresh. My ice tea was topped off several times. And Waiter stayed in tune. Service was very excellent. read more

Foods OK. Phone customer service is horrible. Placed a to go order. Picked up order Got to corner store to buy drinks before I decided to check my order(my fault I know better) but I realized they did not have any salsa or my black bean dip included so I called to make mention of this. The girl that answered the phone was combative saying she knows that she packed salsa and been dip. My response was is it invisible then BC I don't see it in this sack or any of the containers. I just thought this was poor customer service for her to reply with such a statement as if I'm running a " black bean dip" scam to get more complimentary black bean dip... I will never go back here ... read more

Love it! Great food, great decor, distancing, masking--all the boxes! Try the Grilled Chili Relleno for a low carb, lower fat feast!

Party of 18 or so with reservation. Host was extremely helpful and accommodating. Server was not friendly and even a little aggravated as we sat down. We asked for recommendations and he told us that he doesn't eat there. Sodas were flat, the ribeye steak fajitas were chewy and served with undercooked onions, rest of the food was alright. As a family of restaurant workers we were just not happy with the way we were treated by the male server who smiled and laughed with all the tables but us. I still tipped the bill. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I have had the brisket tacos, fajita chimichanga, brisket enchiladas and they were all AMAZING. The salsa and black bean dip are very good. The service is great and to top it off they have HAPPY HOUR.. ALL DAY Mon.-Thurs.! The $3 house margaritas are awesome and they are very generous with their tequilla. The small patio is great for warm weather days. read more

This is my favorite Mexican place so far in Texas and that says a lot seeing as Mexican in Texas is like Pizza or hotdogs in New York. I can't recommend any particular item as everything I've had so far is good and what I've seen others order rocks too!!! read more

Nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. The food is fine, and so is the service. Not many options for vegetarians.

For a local small Tex-Mex, this place is the best!! We've been to Salsa several times now, I never would have heard of it probably had not our dear friend Fr. Bruce Bradley from St. Elizabeth not spoken so highly of it! I've heard he brings all his out of town guests here and that is an extremely powerful recommendation!! The last time we were there it was Sunday and there was happy hour so we tried the margaritas and they were excellent too!! Definitely recommend the food and the drinks!! read more

So far so good. This place is great. Top shelf margaritas made with Don Julio 1942 for $15 dollars is the bomb. Food is great.

Great service and good food. I often go here when I have a day off during the week to eat lunch.

I was pretty excited after seeing all the positive reviews. My experience was, as a 3 star yelp rating says, just A-OK. Nothing more, nothing less. I can't think of anything that really makes Salsa stand out from the many other Tex Mex restaurants in the area. I did really enjoy the complimentary black bean dip that they bring out with the chips and salsa. However, my chicken fajitas weren't very tender or all that memorable. For an early Wednesday evening I was amazed how crowded it was. I attributed it to the good happy hour drink prices. read more

This restaurant rocks! Been going for 4 years now! Never disappoints. Literally everything on the menu rocks, especially the Mario.

Wow! What great service! Our server was on the top of his game. So I go on a Wednesday night around 6:00 pm, and the place was buzzing, but there wasn't a wait. Our server was quick and wasn't all up in my business. That was the best part. Ok, the FOOD! It's was good. It was Tex-Mex. It was...cheap cheap steak. I wish I could find a non high-end Mexican food joint with great meat. I don't think it exists. So my kiddies burrito and hubby's Tex-Mexy cheesy artery clogging dinner was delicious, so stick with that and you'll be juuuuuuuuust fine. read more

What a nice hidden gem in Plano! Passed this place all the time since I get my eyebrows done right next door, but finally had a reason to go here when my friend recommended it for a cinco de mayo celebration. The fact that they have happy hour all day from Monday through Thursday makes me a happy camper. I got a mango margarita for about $5 and it was really good as well as strong. The complimentary bean dip and salsa that comes with the chips are also delicious. It's dangerous how fast I can go through those. My friend got some type of enchilada and it was really good. The rice, cheese, and enchilada itself were all good quality and tasted authentic. I didn't eat this time I went, but next time I know I have to try their brisket tacos! read more

Love their lunch specials and their salsa and bean dip! We go after yoga and sit on their huge patio and visit. I usually get so full on their chips and dips that I order a side salad with chimichurri sauce...it's delicious and $4.69. Brisket tacos and fajita nachos are really good too! If you like really spicy salsa, ask them for the kitchen salsa ...off the menu, it's what the staff eats! It's so good!! read more

Pretty average Tex-Mex. Nothing bad, just nothing that really stood out to make me want to hurry back. We had three entrees: - Chicken fajita chimichanga: good, best thing we ordered - Brisket tacos: brisket was pretty good, but extremely greasy. The tacos dripped grease. - Beef quesadillas: standard fare. Nothing special. All in all not terrible. Another place to cross off the "to-try" list. I would go back if someone suggested it. read more

Take out order was for the Spinach & Chicken Quesadillas. I live about 20 minutes away from this establishment and by the time I got my food...my quesadillas were soggy. The spinach proportions were a little on the heavy side as well. Sorry Salsa Tex Mex...I won't be ordering out with you going forward. read more

My fiance and I moved from San Antonio and we've tried a few Mexican restaurants in the area with not much success. This place is the best and we have been back a few times. The service is always great, and everyone is really friendly. So far we've tried the chile relleno, carne asada, taco salad, enchiladas, nachos, queso con chorizo, and sopapilla's. Everything was tasty! Large portion sizes, especially the appetizers and entrées! This place is usually very busy but we have never had to wait very long, 10 minutes at most. read more

I have gone to Salsa Tex Mex many times and it was good, but last night was different. It was horrible. My waiter was a total prick. He wasn't very friendly and made my friend and I rather uncomfortable. I went and asked the manager if we had done anything to offend him and she went straight to him, but instead of returning herself, she had the waiter return. Of course, now he was trying to be nice. The manager never came back to follow up to see how everything went. Once we got our meal, mine tasted old. My friends was good but mine legit tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. I am so sad about this experience. This was previously my favorite Mexican restaurant but after last night, it will be hard for me to go back. read more

A friend recommended this restaurant and it was not bad. Had a family outing with dad, mom and both of our daughters. The atmosphere was pleasant the sevice was good. We were served right away with salsa, bean dip and chips, waitress was on point. Husband order carne asada, I order the beef plate, one of our daughters order the fajita quesadillas and our youngest order the chicken strip plate. All plates were hot upon receiving at the table. I also had a margarita it was really good, not to strong/weak. I would recommend if you like Texmex food. We, as a family enjoyed it. read more

Usually I/we love this place; not today! :-/ For starters, I'm writing this because we have seen over the years how hard the owner works and I'm thinking he might want to know about today. The waitress took our orders...last time we saw her until it was time to pay. It to what seemed like forever for our food to come out and when it did, my order came out wrong. Another man who served the meals took mine back and it took a loooong time to bring out my two enchiladas a la carte...my husband was almost finished with his platter by the time I got my two enchiladas. No one ever came by to check on us. The original waitress was in a very long conversation with the cashier...looked our way every now and then yet kept on talking...and I do mean a looooong time. Finally she comes over, I ask for a to go box. She never comes back. The man who served our meals asks if we need a box. Then he asks if we want separate checks. I'm ten years older than my husband of 26+ years and look it. It felt like an insult or totally insensitive at most. The food tasted good. The rest was lousy thus the one star. read more

I am new to the neighborhood and tried to love this place, I really did, but every time I come here it takes the waiters 10+ minutes to even acknowledge me. When ordering take out, an item is ALWAYS missing and they cut off their phones at 9:30 exactly so I cannot call back when I get home to ask what happened with my order. Thankfully, I live across the street and can come in less than a few minutes to inquire. Had I lived further, would my money have gone to waste? Get better staff, the only saving grace is the bartender who is always very polite. read more
