Best pizza in the Lehigh Valley. Be warned though, ordering a sicilian slice of pizza will cause you to forever day dream of visting Sal's and you will never be happy with the taste of any other pizza. All the friends I have brought to Sal's have enjoyed it too. I think one stated it best when they said Sal's pizza had reminded them of how good pizza should really taste. Besides the awesome pizza, the service is friendly and always responsive for soda refills, etc. I do admit, the ambience is lacking abit for such quality food. One would expect a high end eatery based on what comes out of the kitchen. But if your in the area, or a true lover of Pizza, drop in for a bite. We ordered a cheese steak sandwich and a cheese pizza this past Tuesday. The cheese steak was OUTSTANDING as usual. We were very disappointed in the pizza. To us it looked like it was pre baked and warmed up as ordered. The cheese was not evenly distributed on the pie and neither were the seasonings. The pie was sliced into 7 slices, 3 super large and 4 small, yes, 7 slices . The crust was very thick around the edges which is not the way we normally get it.This pie appeared to have been made by a rookie pizza man or a 10 yr old. I ordered a large pie and a sub sandwich. The pizza was good and the sub was also good. However, when the delivery guy told me the total of the bill was $30!! $30 for a plain pizza and a sandwich!! Are you kidding me? I had it delivered so I thought there was an error. When I called to inquire about the price, the girl on the phone said "nope that's right" and hung up the phone. Sal's is an amazing find. At first you think it's a strip mall pizza place until you find the back dining room. The room is spacious and well decorated. Then you get the food. I've now eaten here a few times, I can honestly say it's my favorite pizza place ever. I don't say that lightly. We came here for a family's function. I then had a a chicken parmesan sandwich, it came in a fresh baked clamshell roll. It was amazing, what was even better, my wife had a cheesesteak. It's done as a typical Lehigh valley style. Cheese, onions, sauce on that same fresh baked roll. For me the best I ever had. Next time we came back we ordered a small cheese pizza. I can honestly say it's my favorite pizza. Crust is thin style but a little thicker then typical, the sauce is simple but just has a full tomato flavor, the cheese is salty and gooey. It all works together. It almost has a grill smell to it. It's simply the best IMO. We now had the pizza and cheese steaks a few time, and it's always consistent. It's addicting. We live at least 40 minutes away and we will travel to just for the food. Tonight we tried the Caprese salad. It was as good as we imagined. And my wife's not a tomato fan. She loved it.. if you in wind gap and in the mood for some good Italian food. Food's good, but order takeout. Service is super slow, especially at lunch time. Seems to be only one scatterbrained waitress. Today, however, the pizza was a greasy, vile mess that we paid $21 for and ended up throwing in the trash. This place is the best kept secret in the Lehigh Valley. Located in the strip mall where Country Junction and Ashley Furniture is, the place is the BEST!!! This place is top of my list for good fettuccine alfredo in the area, it's amazing with chicken and broccoli, best in the immediate area hands down, portion is large too. They also have a nice selection of desserts. Once in a while the bread for subs is slightly hard but other than that I have nothing bad to say. Too bad they are not closer to Pen Argyl, they will deliver to Pen Argyl however but of course you'll wait slightly longer for delivery than you would for a closer place, but it's worth it. They also ave chicken salad subs which is always hard to find in a pizza place. No bad reviews here other than the hard bread which is why I gave it one less star. Not sure what happened. Sal's pizza was always the best you could find and there hoagies were the bomb.The pastew months going there, there pizza's weren't that good and there hoagies weren't much better. I think they might have changed the ingredient's in the dough but it sure doesn't taste the same. I'v been going to Sal's ever since he opened back in the 70's. Best place to get food/pizza in this town and every town beside it! The calzones are HUGE. The cheese and sauce used is excellent quality and the people who work there are nice. Price is slightly above avg than the other local pizza places- as it should be- and I am willing to pay for better food. I can choose from a few other pizza joints that are much closer to me but they are gross! Sal's is where the good pizza comes from!
