My wife and I have driven past Sal's so many times, that we decided to try it for the first time today. We are actually regretting having come here. We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza with two sides of ranch, an order of fries, and order of mozzarella sticks, and two large fountain drinks. That came out to around $33 for us. Not unreasonable for a meal for two. The fries and mozzarella sticks came to the table first. The fries had no salt on them, and they had a salt shaker on the table so I could add as little or as much as I wanted. They were not bad. The mozzarella sticks came out seemingly undercooked, or they'd cooled down before coming to the table. They were not good at all, but they went better with the ketchup bottle they brought us than with their marinara sauce. Speaking of sauces, remember how I said we ordered two sides of ranch? Yeah, we were served just one, a packet of Ken's ranch, which is nasty on its own. Unfortunately it just did not work with their pizza, which also was not very good either. Did we catch them on a bad night? I mean, at prime dinner time, we were just one of two sets of people dining in, and during the hour we were in there, their phone rang only four or five times for other orders. Oddly enough, our fountain drinks were actually really good. The interior of the place is also in desperate need of a renovation, with old press board tables throughout with chunks missing off of corners, booths with duct tape holding the cushions together, and what appeared to be old advertisements hanging that were promoting some kind of cheese they use (though it didn't taste like anything special to me). This is one place I'll knock off my list for trying again for at least another year, and hope they can improve. read more

Let me start by saying we come here at least every two weeks and get the same thing. Hamburg sub with only mustard and fries. The last time I was there I got 3 burger patties on my sub this visit today only two! How do we change things and not let anyone know you are paying the same price and not getting the same amount of food that you gotten last time. We go to Sal's every weekend--pizza is awesome, burgers are great, price is even better. I lived in Europe as a kid and the pizza is as close to home as I've ever had! My grandsons and I ordered from Sal's on a weekly basis. We get a large cheese pizza, fries, spaghetti and a large anti-pasta salad! I love the salad! It is lightly seasoned with Italian seasoning, which enhances its flavor. I order it with the vinegar and oil dressing on the side and have them add sliced onions. The salad is large enough for two meals. It comes with plenty of deli, meat and cheese, and my grandsons, who are two and three, actually love it. As good as the food is here, the service is better! The drivers are wonderful and when they take your order, they always make sure they have it correct. My grandson's like the bread and they always remember that. We will continue to eat here when I'm in Hanover PA visiting. read more

We are very picky about pizza in our house. We insist on FRESH-tasting sauce that tastes like tomatoes, NOT SWEETENED. Sal's sauce is very good in this regard. Their thinner crust is pretty darn good as well - not as thin as the best NY slices that we prefer, but some of the best of this style pizza in this region. read more

Usually pretty good, not this time. Fries and onion rings tough. Pizza was overcooked, tough. The pizza was very salty. I thought maybe it was the bacon but my wife's was very salty too. Ordered (2) cheese steak subs, fries and (2) drinks last evening. Was very disappointed with the subs! Mostly roll and hardly any meat, plus the onions were not cooked very well. Menu was a little deceiving when it came to the toppings for the sub. Usually we had a good sub when we used to go inside, but this was the first we ordered in awhile. NOT SAFE! No masks are required. No one preparing your food wears a mask. No one who hands you your food is wearing a mask. No one in the entire restaurant is wearing a mask. It's a small kitchen with multiple employees where social distancing is impossible and not one person is wearing a mask. No high-touch surfaces are cleaned either. This is not a safe establishment. It's not safe for the employees and it's not safe for the customers. Before the pandemic, I would have given this place a 5/5 but their behavior is abhorrent and they should be ashamed of themselves for putting their employees and customers in danger by not following CDC guidelines and, at the bare minimum, requiring their employees to wear masks. It saddens me because I really liked their pizza, but I will not be returning to this place, even after the pandemic is over. You can't just risk your employees lives and everyone they come into contact with like this. It's not right. read more

Told driver will be there soon. 6:51 no food & told driver will be there. 7:03 called Sals again.Driver had returned to Sals with our food. Sals never let us know. When I called them the last time, they said they never took our phone number down when I ordered. 3 calls to find our food & they never apologized, not one time. And they delivered here before. This is our first time here. We went there after getting our Christmas tree. Took a leap of faith from Yelp reviews. Sal's did not disappoint. We ordered the Cheese pizza. It totally took me back to when I was in high school and our local hangout for pizza. It was a NY style pizza joint back in the day. This is what their pizza reminded me of. Our last visit, they accidentally made our pizza with pepperoni instead of meatball. It happens, but what usually does not happen... they sent the mistake home with us as a courtesy. Our corrected pie came out about ten minutes later, and everyone was happy. I've always had great experiences at Sal's. I make it a point to visit whenever I'm in town. The pizza is delicious, and their Italian cold cuts are pretty on point as well. Always go for the cherry Coke... they use the cherry syrup and mix it themselves. My favorite pizza place. I just recently discovered them, and I don't think I can go anywhere else after having Sal's. The cheese is great, sauce is flavorful, and it's just overall the best. I ate there so much last weekend, that the guy answering the phones knew what name to put on the order. The staff was pleasant, the shop is clean and nice, with some movies on a TV that are good for occupying children waiting for their food. Always GREAT Pizza!! Tried their chicken Wings last night and they weren't bad. Only two flavors, original and spicy. The spicy weren't wet (saucy), instead the spice was in the breading. Not fresh (frozen), but they weren't dried out and over-cooked. Good flavor. read more

I've lived in this area since I was a little girl, on & off since 1980 so I'm very familiar with this place. It had been a few years since I'd had it so a friend & I indulged the other day. I've lived all over and honestly this is one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The pieces are huge. The dough is crispy but flops when you pick it up like it should. Under the cheese the dough is perfectly done and chewy. The sauce & cheese come almost to the edge, no scrimping here. The cheese isn't that bubble gum type mozzarella the chain joints use. It's real, I'd assume whole milk mozzarella. Anyway, honestly it is the best pizza around this area. I just cook at home a lot because of disappointment with so many places but it was so good my friend and I barely talked while eating, everything a good pizza should be. read more

My son and I decided to eat lunch here and what a mistake that was. I ordered Lasagna and my son ordered a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. My lasagna was just taken from the freezer and microwaved. Then just served to me in the same plastic container swimming in soupy water. My sons Chicken sandwich tasted old and was obviously also cooked by Chef Mike (microwave). Our fried mushrooms were served to us almost black! Not sure when the grease was last changed? Worst meal I have had in 53 years hands down! The front desk person at the motel we stayed in Hanover suggested this place. I was absolutely amazed at the slice I had and then had to eat one more. They have the perfect, slightly burnt and crispy- the way it is supposed to be- crust and perfect combination of tangy sauce. I am kinda peculiar about the mushroom and they were excellent. I had just visited NYC and had pizza couple of times over there which was disappointing and overpriced. On the contrary, this place exceeded all expectations!
