I was looking for a new place to get a haircut, and I'm so glad I found Joanna! First I was a bit skeptical because there's no reviews here, but this location was so convenient, I trusted my instincts and went there. And it was great, she was very nice since the beginning. I decided after work I wanted a haircut, I message Joanna through Yelp and she answered me quickly and scheduled an appointment next day at 9:30am. ( she also have a website where you can schedule ALL appointments there) I decided to message her just because it was something next day in the morning and I wanted to be sure it was available. When I arrived she took her time to see what type of haircut I wanted and then she worked with my hair and gave me various tips of what would work or not and how my hair would feel afterwards. Keep in mind when booking your first visit to have time to be there, specially if you have long and thick hair like me, I arrived at 9:30am and left running at 10:45am because I had to go to work. But the final result was amazing and I really liked it. Also, there are some Groupons available for different services, go check it out! Thank you Joanna, I'll be coming back! read more

Booked online as instructed. Stylist never showed up and didn't respond to my texts. Waste of time and transportation money! Waited about half an hour. read more

Overall, a very odd experience. I came in for a simple cut and blow dry. Stylist let's me know she's running about 10 minutes behind so I take a seat outside. About 30 minutes later, I pop my head in and see the client in her chair still has wet hair. I wait another 15 minutes and finally stylist appears ready. I explain to her what I want and she sells me on an upgrade. She proceeds to wash my hair and then in comes her next client. Stylist deadass tells me I should wait an additional few minutes so she can wash this other clients hair..who had an appointment 1 hour later than me! I remain patient and the stylist then has me sit back in the chair. Instead of sending that client to the waiting room like shed done to me, she lets the client wait in this very cramped room. As a reminder, this is a small private suite that is intended to serve 1 client at a time. This was not a relaxing experience at all and I felt she rushed through my visit. Stylist starts to make conversation with me, but makes some eccentric statements. She repeatedly states she'd have to kill me if she told me her secrets...so I'm thinking ok I didn't ask to know your secrets, please don't shave my head. It may have been her attempt at being funny but she mentioned killing about 3-4x so I was feeling uneasy. Obviously she was harmless, but it was just weird. Fast forward to the end of this appointment AFTER I pay, she nonchalantly mentions the color she put in my hair will actually only last about a week. When I asked her initially about the toner, she said a month but it depends on how often you wash..which made sense. I was over it and just left. Still giving a star because the blowout was nice, but holy smokes, this was one of the weirdest hair experiences. read more

I bought a voucher and called to leave a message to schedule an appointment. I didn't hear back to my voicemail and text that I sent so I went to the website and tried to schedule a cut. The link to make an appointment doesn't work. I called again and again and was pushed to voicemail. With the difficulty of the pandemic, I was hoping to find a good hair dresser close to home that I can stick with. Not sure if this salon is out of business or if she's just taking the funds through Groupons sold and not providing the service but I recommend you NOT purchase a voucher or bother to make an appointment. It'll be a waste of time. read more

Hi don't go to this salon Groupon is kind of a scam! They get you in for 25 dollars coupon but next time you go her prices are outrageous!!! She charged me 240 dollars for " partial" highlights and roots touch up! when I asked her why so much she answered She charged the toner as well the blow dry partial lights and haircuts It was a miracle that she didn't charge me for the seat and for breathing!!! She was taking several people while it was my time for this appointment As a result ,my color was overly processed because my toner was there too long and my hair looks greenish now!!! she is a charmer and she gets you this way. Don't give in. Big disappointment! read more

Waited for 30 min for appointment that was scheduled and stylist never showed up or notified about any changes.

I loved my experience at Salon Vixen! Joanna was friendly and most importantly invested in understanding the look I was going for! I appreciated that she was sensitive to my desire to maintain a long length. Great cut and great service! read more

This salon literally does not exist, and I could not get a hold of the stylist. I booked my appointment online, confirmed it day of, and showed up on time and was informed she no longer works at this location. She's gone without a trace so don't waste your time or money here. read more

Joanna is seriously amazing! In November I had another stylist in the suburbs absolutely fry my hair and I walked into Joanna's with my hair breaking off everywhere. She did a rebonding treatment and cut as much of the broken part off as necessary while leaving me with as much length as possible. She then recommended an amazing shampoo and conditioner for me to use over the next few months while I let my hair repair. I just went back last night to have her highlight my hair and bring back my blonde. I am blown away by her talent. My hair looks amazing! She had the knowledge to take the color I wanted to achieve and adapt it to fit my natural hair perfectly. After she was finished with the highlighting and balayage, knowing I want to preserve my length, she truly just trimmed my hair and shaped it giving it the perfect amount of bounce. I had absolutely 0 damage to my hair in Joanna's hands! I am so happy and won't ever go anywhere else! read more

I loved my experience with Joanna! She is so friendly and made me feel right at home. I told her what I wanted and she knew exactly what I meant and gave me an amazing haircut. Even better, she is so friendly and warm and we had great conversation while she was cutting my hair. She even made me green tea! The cut was perfect and so was the blowout, I feel great! I will definitely be back for color and another cut. read more

JoAnna is the BEST !!! Like literally did my hair the exact way I asked her to ....I LOVE HER !!!!!! And she's soooooo cool

Joanna came personally recommended and appears to be highly rated otherwise, so I'm sorry to comment my disappointment. She couldn't see me at my appointment time, so I came back an hour later as requested. She then offered to wash/cut between her next appointment's color, but I declined both that and her offer to reschedule. read more

I am so happy that I found Joanna. She is the first hair colorist to give me the exact color I was looking for to capture the color I had before my hair started to go gray. Getting the right shade of red on a true redhead is not that easy, as I have been told by others. Joanna is also an expert at doing keratin treatment, cutting hair, and blowing it out perfectly. There are probably 3 times in my life that I have found a hair stylist that makes me happy from the first time, and the others are in NYC and Paris. I feel like she really listened when I described what I was looking for, and she is also a nice conversationalist. I highly recommend her salon! read more

Joanna did a wonderful job making me feel welcome and taking care of my primary concerns for my hair today. I appreciate my color, cut and style. Best style I've received in awhile, and I plan to go back for styling needs. She was efficient, caring and professional throughout. read more

I hate to give Joanna a bad review since she's so friendly, but I have never gotten such a bad haircut in my life. I was hoping to try out a new salon and stumbled across Salon Vixen. I have pretty manageable straight hair and asked for a simple cut - layers with face framing. However, what I got was a very uneven blunt cut with no framing. I went and scheduled an appointment with my regular stylist. read more

I am a long time client of Joanna and has always received great service. I have followed her to Salon Vixen even though the location is out of my way. She is professional, creative and very precise with the haircuts and color and the most importantly: she has talent and an excellent eye on what will look great on you. She is a great caring person that easy to talk to and have a cup of coffee or tea in her salon. I always leave in a good mood and with confidence after my color and/or haircut read more

I highly recommend Joanna and Salon Vixen. Not only did she squeeze me in last minute, she actually listened to what haircut I said I wanted and gave me exactly that. So many other times stylists have cut off more than I asked for or gave me a haircut I didn't want. Joanna being able to execute exactly what a client asks for sets her apart from any other stylists I've seen in the past. Highly recommend! (Bonus - her space is super trendy at a shared space at Salon Lofts in the West Loop!) read more
