The elegant,…read morewell-designed business website truly sets them apart from other salons--it reflects their professionalism, attention to detail, and the high-quality experience you can expect before you even walk through the door. Deron did an incredible job on my hair. He truly brought it back to life, restoring its health, shine, and style in a way that exceeded my expectations. His skill, care, and passion for what he does are very apparent, and I left feeling super refreshed. Michaela also did an outstanding job coloring my teenager's hair. Her attention to detail was exceptional, and she took the time to make sure everything was done perfectly. The color turned out beautiful, and she made my teen feel comfortable and listened to throughout the entire process. What really makes this salon stand out, though, is the atmosphere. Every single person who works there--whether you're their client or not--greets you with a smile and checks in on you. That level of genuine kindness and care is rare and makes the entire experience feel welcoming and special. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for exceptional service, talented professionals, and an environment where you truly feel valued from start to finish.

I used to see Ashley at the EL location, who I've always had a great experience with, but recently…read moredecided to try out the west Lansing location due to it being closer to where I now live. I scheduled an appointment with April due to Bliss Salon's website saying she's a "curl specialist". I have thick multicultural curls (a mix of 3b - 4a) and tried to make sure someone with experience handled my hair. At the beginning of my appointment, I told April I wanted a trim, to not shape the previous layers to continue growing my hair out, and to define the couple of face framing strands. She told me to accomplish all of that she would need to take off 1" to 1.5" at most, and I told her I was okay with that. April started off by dry brushing my curls. I should've gotten up and ran right then and there, but hindsight is 20/20. About 5 to 10 minutes in, she made her way around to the side/front of my hair. I was finally able to see how much she had cut off. The 1" to 1.5" was more like 3.5" to 4" of curls, so it was likely even more than that. I told her the amount she had cut made me nervous. She responded, "I've only taken off 1" to 1.5" to touch up the layers. But thanks for letting me know", and continued chopping away. This was minutes after we had discussed that I wanted to grow the layers out so my hair could grow out. We were at the point of no return, so I just tried to trust the process. After the cut, April applied the detox and shine treatment to my hair with gloves on. She reminded me to put my hands under the cape to prevent skin exposure to the chemicals. After applying the shine treatment to a strand of hair, April dropped the strand down and it made contact with my open eye, which instantly burned and watered. She handed me a paper towel (without removing her gloves that were covered in the shine treatment) so I could dab my eye. Thankfully, that helped and we were able to continue. Fast forward to the styling process post shampooing and conditioning. April asked me if I usually add volume to my hair. I told her I purposely don't style my hair to be voluminous because the feeling of it being in my face causes a bit of a sensory issue. So, April did the opposite of what I asked for. She proceeded to brush my hair in a way that created volume at the roots and diffused it make it even bigger. At the end of my appointment, my hair was layered and up to my shoulders. It reached the center of my back when I first arrived. Despite this, April truly did do a good job. The way she cut and styled my hair would've been perfect for someone who wants their hair to look like my end result. However, April will never touch my hair again. I should've just sucked it up and made the longer drive to see Ashley. If you have long multicultural curls and want to keep them that way, GO TO ASHLEY IN EL. Before (you can't see the ends of my hair, but you get the gist) and after pictures attached.

I enjoyed my visit today at Mastercuts, which was recommended to me by a friend. I entered at 9:30 AM and was told that they could cut my hair at 11:00. That gave me time to have breakfast and visit Horrocks. When I returned, I was greeted promptly by Kayla. She is friendly and very professional. An excellent listener who chatted with me about what I wanted for at least a good five minutes before she even washed my hair. Thorough wash, not too quick and shoddy like most other places. She worked quickly and made sure I was comfortable, asking me several times I was satisfied with what and how she was doing. I loved the cut she did, it was exactly what I wanted. I don't like to spend a lot of money or time on my hair. I was very satisfied at Mastercuts. This place is at least three levels of Better above Borics and Fantastic Sam's.

Saw Seth at the Ulta Beauty Lansing store for highlights. I am so disappointed in the results,…read moreridiculous prices, and add-on treatments I didn't request. I spent over $500 in a month for partial highlights which is absurd for this area and at a store salon, no-less. This isn't some posh salon in a big city. He explained to me this would be a "hair journey" because I had colored my hair 6 mos prior. I understood, but with the understanding that after each appt I would be getting closer to my desired highlights. I was seen on 6/17 with excessively priced, poorly placed large, harsh, chunks of brassy bright yellow/orange highlights on my hairline and crown, nowhere else, other than a large random highlight on the back of my head. I wanted to cry and hid at home or under hats for several weeks. Next seen 7/31 with appt at 3. He text me to tell me he was running behind, to come 15-20 mins later. No problem. I walked into the store at exactly 3:15. He tells me he actually ended up being on time. Before we got started he says his next client is scheduled at 4 and may not have much time to do my hair, as if it were my fault. So unprofessional. I was expecting to see some progress at this appt, instead after putting in 8-10 foils, I'm told it was going to be even brighter and still brassy. the exact opposite of what I wanted. I share my concerns, he's obviously annoyed and tells me I'm pushing back against his plan. He is full of himself and thinks he is some brilliant colorist. I disagree. The foils were pulled off, rinsed out, and I left. A few days later I went to another salon and found a great stylist, who fixed it and for only $140, including a conditioning treatment and cut. The salon was anything but relaxing. The stylist next to him was constantly, loudly, and obnoxiously talking and laughing. Seth barely spoke to me and positioned my head in unnecessary and uncomfortable positions. It was odd. I wouldn't recommend Seth or the salon.
