I bought a Amazon deals thingy here for a cut with Nikki. She did an amazing job cutting my hair. I got several inches chopped, and it looked just like the picture when I was done. There are a couple things that I really liked about my experience. First, this place did not feel pretentious at all. The vibe was laid back and accepting. Secondly was Nikki's personality. Some stylists that I've gone to can "over-share." That's the best way I know how to put it. Nikki is educated and she asks YOU a lot of good questions. She volunteered information when she was asked. You know what I like most about Salon Sirrah? You go there to get exactly what you want - your hair did to specs, in the most comfortable, relaxing and quaint setting. It's so not your typical salon. It's small, which only adds to its charm (3 chairs total - although I hear they are expanding). Charming it is - right down to the decor, beverages and sexy ambient music that are just the right amount of flavor to keep your senses flowing. There is nothing uptight, pretentious or cookie cutter about this place. It's its own trend and other salons would do themselves a favor to take notes. I followed my stylist, Elaina, here. Her talent rewards me with compliments about my cut and color, and of course the ability to roll out of bed in the morning and look like I am from this planet. She is such a lovely person and I am lucky to have her as my stylist. UPDATE: They have expanded and the good news is that makes for MUCH better parking. However, even though the remodel is beautiful, it does take away from some of the charm (it has a busier, louder, more typical salon-ish feel than before but still light years ahead of most salons in this area). Got a haircut from this place today and it finally turned out just like I wanted it. I must add that the folks here are very friendly and they were expecting me as I walked in (I had an appointment, but never had this kind of a welcome greeting at any of the other salons). My hair's wavy and ends up very messy and unmanageable once it grows to a particular length. Most stylists end up cutting it too short (military cut) or very uneven. It's normally hard for me to find a hair salon/stylist that cuts my hair exactly the way I want it and they are never consistent. My stylist was Shelley and I think she's done a good job. Nothing fancy in terms of hair style, but she got it right. Will be going back in 4 weeks and will report back on the consistency of the haircut. read more

I live a few blocks from Sirrah and was driving by when I saw a sign out front offering 15% off for newbies. The price range is $50-85 and the stylist available for a walk-in was at the low end. Receptionist offered me something to drink. I asked for a water and she quickly forgot (never brought it). Gee, thanks. So, the stylist also offered me something to drink and I ended up with a glass of wine. The ambience of the salon is not that impressive, it's not bad, just big bulky wood furniture pieces and more of an earthy vibe. I was in bad need of a cut, but I only wanted 1.5" taken off my hair. It ended up being 3" and I'm saddened by how short my hair is. Yes, it did need it, but its not what I asked for. He shirred some edges and that usually needs to be cleaned up after a few weeks so I wasn't too enthusiastic about that. The cut looks clean and even and the man in my life loves it, so there is some positive to the experience. I'm on the fence about being a repeat customer. read more

I walked in looking to get my bangs cut - and was told that it would cost $10. Um, what? $10? She said that if I were a regular customer that I could get it done for free (insult to injury). While I just moved here 2 weeks ago, I'm not a regular anywhere... but most likely will not become a regular here. Hmmm... doesn't seem like good customer service to me. :( read more

Eddy Harris has been my hairdresser and a family friend for over 20 years, long before Salon Sirrah was even a thought in his head. He is great at what he does and will tell you straight if a style won't work with your face shape or hair type. He takes pride in his salon and it shows. I also used David to style my hair for my wedding. He was fantastic as well. The receptionist is bubbly, friendly, and welcoming. The prices are high, but well worth it. Reservations are pretty much required if you want a specific hairdresser. read more

I came to this salon when Kendall moved here. She has now styled and colored my hair 3 times, and she has a way with hair! I leave feeling like I got what I want and more. I tell her the things I want to change about my current style, any styling troubles I'm having, things I don't like, things I like--and she makes it great. She helps my hair reach its full potential! I am one of those people that wants something a little different each time--short, growing out for awhile, layered, etc-- and she gets it! Never too short, always has great ideas to help my hair look its fullest. Kendall always tells me to let her know if anything needs tweaking, but I've never had to take her up on that offer. She does a terrific job! Salon Sirrah is easy to get to, pleasant and relaxing. All of the folks there are very friendly. I always enjoy the whole experience. read more

I followed my stylist Paula here from Kenneth's. The receptionist is very nice and Paula always does a fantastic job. She colored my hair recently and I've gotten many compliments. I'm so impressed with Paula because I normally look like Cousin Itt and she can make me look presentable. read more

Yay! I found Gregory from Mint again! He saved my hair! I lost him and had Two horrible hair cuts, that took 2 years to grow out but it still looked rough! Now my hair is bouncy and happy again! I love to go in and have him style it before a night out- That man can make ya beautiful! Plus I love the atmosphere and furniture. Now I can start having fun with my hair again because I am in damn good hands! read more

I've been with Cory for years, as I have naturally curly hair and am prone to 'big hair' on humid days, along with unfortunate early graying. Cory is most professional; runs on time, and has advised me (truthfully) on what looks best and natural. He takes the time to ask what I would like, mixes a lovely cayenne color for me, and dries and straightens my thick head-o-hair for as long as it needs. Salon Sirrah went thru a simpler transformation a couple of years back, but still runs nicely with the three stylists manning their business and front - though I kind of miss the energy of having more people around. I'll follow Cory again if I ever have to, for I'll always have his attention, and know that I'll leave with my hair looking fabulous! read more

My regular hairdresser Elaina started working here and I loved the shop. I always feel welcome and the prices are not costly. Well Elaina moved on me so I spoke to the owner Eddie and he offered to take me on as a client. I felt I was in great hands and appreciated that I didn't have to go crazy to find another hairdresser. We all know that once we find a great hairdresser that it's hard on us when they are no longer available but Eddie made it easy for me. I love how he has cut my hair but he also gives great advice about my curly hair that becomes frizzy easily, he suggested the best product I have ever used for curly hair. My hair is now soft, no product crunchiness, growing longer and great color that has held. read more

If you like to be insulted then this is the place for you!! Was a regular customer of the owner for six months. Came in one day when he was in a bad mood - asked him to please wipe off the dye that he had accidentally splashed on my face as it was burning and I didn't want it to leave a mark. His response? "In a minute. Besides, if it leaves a mark, it will just match the other spots on your face." To add injury to insult he had raised his prices and didn't have the decency to tell me. Elaina Wilcox found me after my appearance on What Not to Wear. I have very curly hair and haven't been able to find anyone to cut it properly. She was able to give me a fresh cut that still looks great several weeks later! She even gave me tips on how to get out of the short-hair rut, with accessories and different ways to style short hair. I have to say, James never lets me or my boyfriend down. James has been doing my hair for at least four years. In the meantime, he's worked three New York Fashion weeks so I definitely still turn to him when my hair is in need. But unlike the beauties of NY Fashion Week, the boyfriend and I are pretty plain when it comes to hair: we prefer simple and effortless. That doesn't bother James, he still always manages stay true to his glamorous yet classy aesthetic when working with our hair. His creativity shines through my usually picky requests, "Please don't cut it too short! No bangs please!" The result of my last cut, long layers with a middle part. My hair felt lighter and healthier than before, yet somehow looked longer. James is patient and works like an artist. He has great attention to detail and will work with your best features. So what about my boyfriend's hair? Well, James is undeniably stylish...so the boyfriend says to James, "Give me what you got." The result? Hot boyfriend! So, I moved to Austin about 7 months ago and after being here for about 2 months I decided that I wanted to finally cut all my hair off! I had been wanting to for awhile and got the courage to! I went to Salon Sirrah after seeing my friend Ali's beautiful haircut and how precise it was. I went to see David and let me tell you, this guy is great. He was so excited about cutting my hair because it was a huge change. I showed him what I wanted and he went right to it. We had so much fun and you can tell that he really loves what he does. And boy can he do it. I was in awe at how perfectly he cut my hair! Ever since then I have been going back to him and we do something new every time, basically I let him decide and go wild because it always comes out exactly how I want it to. He has a ton of experience and is definitely someone to trust when you are nervous about getting a new do'. Plus there is never a dull moment with him. read more

Such a shame. I love my stylist who recently moved to this salon, but because of flighty, incompetent, non-existent customer service from the front person, don't think I'll be going back. I went to pay for my services and she quoted me one price, but printed the receipt for me to sign in a different amount. I called her on it, so she "voided" it. Not sure what happened beyond that but she needed my bankcard AGAIN. I should have known better than to give my card so many times (3 times total). She acted like, no big deal...these will void out and not even go through. Wish she was right about that! I ended up charged over $400 in services which put my account into overdraft. ON A FRIDAY!!!! I called right away and despite what I was saying, she acted like no big deal...and I needed to go to the bank, I needed to take my receipts to them, I needed to wait until Monday to see if they actually posted. What are YOU going to do??? My bank has no record of reversed charges. Finally called the owner as I was disgusted by her non chalant attitude. He was a bit more sympathetic, but asked me how customer service was bad.....EXCUSE ME???? REALLY? Wish I could be done with the whole thing, but I will hold them responsible for overdraft fees. Too bad they couldn't appreciate my frustration with having NO MONEY on the weekend and a big black eye on my credit due to overdraft! I feel bad about my stylist, but not sure I can return. I've never had a problem like this ANYWHERE. read more
