She added a partial microdermabrasion in places that I really needed it. She got out all of the clogged pores and used great products, "Matis". I have extremely sensitive skin and my skin didn't burn or hurt or breakout! I love it! After my service I had a champagne flute of water and a small shot glass of grape juice! I have now had three facials with Tila and two hair "treatments" with Badrie (the owner"") and I must say I am in Love with how well I was treated and taken care of each time. I came here because I wanted to get a Brazilian Blowout and didn't want to pay a lot but also wanted a good job. I called around to a few areas while searching on Yelp and learned this salon had a special going on. Instead of the normal price it was half off. Half off ladies! Sold! The location is off of Lawyers Road and located right on Church Street. There is side parking and I didn't have any problems finding a place to park. The salon when walking is cozy with great music playing. Everyone was super friendly to me when I walked in and I even had the pleasure of getting in early when I had arrived early. Mahnaz did my treatment and explained to me exactly what she was going to do in detail. After that I had the best conversation with this women. She has a great personality and I think could make anyone feel comfortable. I felt like we had been friends for years! It is hard and rare to find that type of connection with people around this area so I felt that it should be noted. Mahnaz is a very talented women from what I could tell. Granted it is hard to tell from just the Blowout treatment but well my hair looks beautiful, shiny and soft. I always look at my stylist hair to see what they look and it should be noted that her hair was soft and beautiful from the Brazilian Blowout that was done about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm a little undecided about this place. I came in on a quiet Saturday afternoon for a shellac mani/pedi that I purchased through Groupon. I arrived about 15 minutes early, so I just sat in the waiting area for a bit. No biggie. I think it is primarily a hair salon, and they also do waxing /threading as well as nails. The salon was clean and bright, and there was soft French music playing in the background and a platter of bite size pastries were sitting on the table. I felt relaxed. When they were ready, they offered me a beverage, and started the spa. The jets were kind of mediocre, and I kind of wished my chair was one of those massage chairs. I also wished my massage lasted a little bit longer. My nail technician was Kat, and she did such a meticulous job on my nails. She was very gentle in every way. With that said, I wouldn't say it was the best shellac experience I've had. There is still paint on my cuticles and it's a little uneven. I know it's always hard to apply dark shellac, but that's why we pay a professional to do it. In addition, a few of the ladies that had their hair done that day are perhaps friends with the stylists? Anyway, after they were done, a bunch of them just kind of congregated and hung out for a bit in the waiting area. I went back to Salon Etoiles the next day for them to fix my thumbs. Badrie, the owner, tried to do one better and re-do the entire manicure, but unfortunately I had another appointment to get to and didn't have time. The girl who was doing my nails (why didn't I get her name?) was incredibly meticulous and careful as she tried to fix it. It turned out fantastic. Everyone who worked in the salon was welcoming and kind. I felt entirely comfortable (which I expected, since that was part of the reason why I loved them the first time around when my manicure was a little messed up). Purchased the groupon for this salon which included a shampoo, haircut, and blow dry for $35 and made an appointment with Matin. She is very nice and really listened to what I wanted. The cut came out great, and she styled my hair very nicely. They were having a basic mani/pedi special for $30 that day, so I decided to try it out as well. My mani/pedi came out nicely but the nail tech took a little bit longer than I was used to (maybe over an hour) but she did a good job with shape and color (they used essie nail polish).. The regular prices for this salon are quite pricey at $70/haircut but it might be worth it. I'll really know if I like it when I come back to do color and another cut. By far, this has been one of the best experiences at a manicure place for me. I purchased a GroupOn and went with a friend. We arrived early and were taken early. The place is very clean and has a great atmosphere. Being treated well and heard as a customer is important, and that definitely occurred here. Perhaps people have had a pleasant experience but mine was average almost subpar even. Allow me to explain why. I bought a groupon for a manicure and called to make an appointment. Easy enough. I noticed the hours were not so convenient but whatever I went ahead and scheduled because I got the Groupon. Fast forward to appointment day. I travel from my job in chantilly to Vienna only to find out there is no one to do my manicure. The lady at the front calls the manager owner whatever and she apologizes. She also told me to go to diamond spa where they will give me my manicure and she will reimburse me. I honestly didn't believe her but I gave her the benefit of a doubt because I was leaving to the outer banks the next day. I schedule two weeks out and the manicure was okay. The color selection was limited and I was not 100% comfortable. But the manicure quality was acceptable. I told my manicurist what happened and I left my number with her so the owner could call me so she could KEEP HER WORD. Suffice to say she called but I had gotten into an accident so I didn't answer but I did call back with no returned call as I left a voicemail. Safe to say my instincts were right. She wouldn't reimburse me for a crappy $45 gel mani I didn't want from that stupid spa in the first place. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I called the salon to make an appt and they did not call me back. I had to call again a week later. This review is for the nail technician. I get gel shellac Manis every two weeks religiously and know what to expect. Their nail tech is clearly inexperienced. She wrapped my nails in acetone and was unable to remove my polish. This process took over an hour and I still have base coat on my nails. She scratched and scratched. Never soaked my cuticles, barely cut them, and after an hour of scratching I explained to her that I had never had this experience before. She said that my gel manicure, (CND) was particularly difficult to remove. After 1.5 hours, I asked her to stop. I simply didn't want to spend my Saturday with someone ruining my nails. She didn't object, and didn't apologize and quite frankly didn't care since her next appointment had arrived. Perhaps she's good at regular manicures, but she is not at all experienced with gel manicures. Unfortunately, I didn't complete the service but she did mark my Groupon voucher as used, even though the service was not rendered. I think that is dishonest. When I called Groupon, they told me the service had been rendered. This voucher was for 2 manicures. No wonder they don't return calls.... I think it's unfortunate and dishonest that they are using Groupon as a vehicle for which their technician can practice. It's simply not fair to the customer. Please note that I used a Groupon to get the Brazilian Blowout, and it was a seemingly good deal, until after I had it done... The salon itself is clean and welcoming in ambiance. I was able to get an appointment one day in advance. I got assigned to Bahar, a seemingly kind, quiet woman. She explained what the process was during my pre-appointment assessment/consultation. I have above-shoulder-length hair that is average weight and not thick, so during the consultation, there was no mention of any upcharge since my hair is not long or thick. During my blowout, the heat was way too high, and caused me to wince in pain frequently and shift uncomfortably. I even said, "it's hot," but that didn't do anything. Furthermore, she made a comment in the middle of my blowout that I have a lot of hair (I have an average amount, it's not thick, and neither is my ponytail)... I have had a Brazilian Blowout before from another local salon in the DC area, so I had a great experience to compare this one to. At the end, my hair looked smooth and pretty, but I could tell my scalp was badly burnt from all the direct high heat, and to add insult to literal injury, I was told that because I had "thick hair" there was an additional $50 charge! I noticed a little sign that said they didn't accept tips on credit cards, so rather than making a fuss and getting into a fight, I just paid the $50. The likelihood of me ever going back there is non-existent, considering I'm still feeling scabs on my scalp. read more

I came here with a friends for a deep conditioning treatment and had a horrible experience. Not only did the stylist burn my scalp (couldn't brush for several days after) because she kept putting the hair dryer way too close to my scalp and holding it there even though I would move away, but if you have the misfortune of inconveniencing them with hair the deem "long" then they charge you $10 extra to dry it. The prices are very high for an unexceptional experience and they don't allow you to tip on a credit card. Since it's 2017 I don't see any reason they would only be allowed to take cash tips. I paid for a shellac mani. The nail tech used regular nail polish for my manicure and then a shellac topcoat. It has been 8 days and I have three chipped nails. This is an updated review based on the mani/pedi I received today. After my previous experience the salon contacted me to offer me a free mani/pedi to make up for the issues I encountered. First, A+ for going above and beyond in making things right. I was hesitant as I did not write my initial review to get free services, but wanted to give the salon a second chance. I really liked the salon. It had a community feel to it. The salon offers a variety of services and when I arrived there were two ladies getting their hair cut and one other getting a mani/pedi. The one thing I hate about mani/pedi places is that you get they fast food service feel. That is definitely NOT the case with Salon Etoiles. The technician took her time and there was no rushed feeling. In addition, there were no UV lights that you are herded to so that you get out of the way. You sit in your seat with a small fan blowing on your fingers while they dry. The technician did a fantastic job on my nails. The service was friendly and welcoming. The seating was comfortable. I have changed my review to four stars and will definitely be back! read more

I got a Groupon deal for a mani-pedi here and decided to get my first Shellac experience here. The salon is located at a small road in a residential area in Vienna and it has a small parking lot. It's really easy to miss if you don't know exactly where it is. I missed it and had to turn back and take my time looking around the street to find it. Inside of the Salon is very nice and sunny. It definitely feels clean and professional. It's mostly a hair salon as there are only two pedicure seats and two manicure stations. My pedicure went by really quickly, but still the technician did a good job. I don't think she skipped any steps. I'd have preferred to sit there for a few minutes getting a leg message, but I only paid for a regular pedicure, so there was only about 10 seconds of message before she put on the nail color. Now the Shellac pedicure is why this place is not getting 5-stars. The technician did an awful job painting my nails. I had polish painted on my cuticle at the bottom of my nails. The reason I spend the money at the Salon is that I hope they can paint better than I do, since that's what they do professionally, but no, it looks like a five year-old painted my nails. Also, she lost track of which hand had top coats on near the end and I had to remind her so that she didn't put two layers of top coat on one hand and none on the other. The Shellac is suppose to last 2 weeks, but I had to take it off after about 9 days because it just looked so bad. Since she painted on my cuticles, when my nails grew longer that bottom area of the nail polish isn't actually attached to the nail and it started peeling. Overall, not a great experience considering the price. If there's another Groupon I might go again and request a different technician. But I wouldn't pay full price to have my nails look like an amateur did it. read more

Plain and simple, Badrie is amazing. I have been a client for many years when she was at AC in DC, and now that she has opened a new salon in Vienna, I am super excited for her! The drive is much further for me, but I could care less. I would get on a plane, train or boat to have my hair cut by her! Here's a little about my hair... I have a TON of hair. To add intrigue to it, the natural texture of my hair is coarse and wavy. It is very easy for someone who is not a talented stylist to make this go badly... very badly. This has never been the case with Badrie. From the first time I met her, she has always asked me what I wanted, advised me on good ideas and steered me away from bad ones. I always leave her salon looking like a better version of the Lady Clairol commercial! I have lived in this city for many years and been to several "popular" hairstylists, only to get up and walk out, wondering if I was on an episode of Candid Camera. With Badrie, my hair has finally found its Michelangelo... and since my hair looks so amazing, I now have several friends who go see her also. So imagine my happiness when I stumbled upon this cute little salon on Church street one Saturday morning and found them to be surprisingly efficient with providing waxing services. I have now come here twice do get an almost full body wax and have had a wonderful experience each time. My waxing lady is the lovely Baharak, who with her gentle hands and attentive personality ensures that I get the best service possible. She is fast, efficient and friendly all the while providing me with the best wax job I've had in years! This review is for the facial service only with Baharak. This was only my second time ever getting a facial (first one was over 5 years ago at a salon in Washington state) and I came in because of a groupon. The salon was quiet (I was one of two customers in the salon), clean and very calming. The front desk assistant was friendly and immediately got Baharak so that we could get started. She took me to the facial room which actually isn't as nice as the rest of the salon but it was quiet and in a private room so the noise level was low - plus there was nice music playing in the salon and in the facial room. Baharak was very friendly and knew exactly what she was doing. This facial changed my life - it was so relaxing I basically fell asleep, and my skin felt and looked amazing once she was finished. I had a fabulous experience with Mahnaz last week! I originally came in for a blowout but ended up wanting a haircut and color too. And I'm really happy I did! Mahnaz was so precise and very meticulous with every detail, explaining everything she was doing all along the way. I'm super attentive to details, so her keeping me informed kept me at ease the entire time. The blowout is amazing! I've had blowouts in the past where I couldn't wash my hair, work out, or get any water (sweat, rain, etc) on my hair for 3 whole days - hate that! This particular blowout that Mahnaz did had no restrictions! I was able to go to the gym that night and shower right after. So that was definitely very convenient for me. The color, toner, cut and blow out took about 5 hours but it honestly didn't seem like it. I was chatting it up with Mahnaz about life, the importance of doing good for others, as well as my wedding and honeymoon. It was so weird that I could connect with a total stranger like that so quickly...and on such a deep level. She just has such a welcoming and warm personality. You don't meet many individuals like her. So she isn't just amazing as a stylist, she's also a pretty amazing person inside and out...Just thought I'd share that part of my experience. Most importantly, I'm beyond happy with my hair! It's been 10 days now and my hair still looks the way it did when I first walked out the salon. Btw, I used a groupon deal here. I just had the Brazilian blowout 2 days ago and I fell in love with it. I was doing some research before I went to this salon. Saw that they close at 8 and called but nobody picked up, so I decided to stop by since it's on the way home. Mahnaz was the only one there and knowing it was 630, she still saw me. She was awesome! Very informative and genuine. I could tell she loves what she does at the salon. She even cut off an inch n half to get rid of the damages in my hair. I started going here when it was under different ownership. The new salon looks very nice. Ms. Matin has been there forever and is very kind. She goes out of her way to please her customers and is truly honest . I've never had any issues with my stylist. Her personality and charm make it a wonderful experience compared to some of the boring stuck up places I've been to. As for the reviews on here, I find it strange that most have been filtered and do not show up although they are positive for the business. I have also seen other business owners respond to customers and reviewers with feedback or assistance for those who haven't had the greatest experience but don't see that happening here. Extremely unprofessional salon. Three weeks ago, I had made an appointment with KAT for Brazilian Blowout who is fabulous and highly skilled in all services. My appointment was for today (2-08-2020). The day before my appointment I got a text from the salon to confirm. I called to change the time of my appointment to half an hour later. I asked to speak to Kat directly. Sam told me that she no longer works there and that he was the one who was going to perform the service. I was so shocked & disappointed that no one had contacted me earlier to let me know that KAT no longer works there to at least be given a choice as to whether I want to keep my appointment and/or be given a choice as to which hair stylist I want to have the services done with. This is extremely unethical and immoral. Luckily, I searched and found her on Facebook, under Khatereh Eslamlou and found out she's now has joined Jolie Hair Studio in Vienna, VA and only one block from the old salon. I got charged an extra 50 dollars for my bikini line ( as a medium area for laser hair removal) its not nice to scam people , a Brazilian is the whole bikini area ! Don't recommend! I have thick, curly hair and was searching for a new hair stylist after mine suddenly quit at the beginning of the year. I went to another local salon specializing in curly hair and left disappointed, with a wet head and hack job. I waited 6 months for the hair to grow out and tentatively made an appointment with Badrie. I was so anxious about getting another bad haircut so I decided I would leave if the consultation didn't go well. Badrie was so nice! And insanely patient with me. And she clearly knows her stuff because I left with a great cut and blowout. There is one patch of hair that hasn't grown out enough to give me a *perfect* cut but she was able to expertly hide it.
