I just had a wonderful experience at Salon Sage. It was my second time there, seeing Riat. He is a talented, patient young stylist who is full of ideas but also really listens to what the client wants. When you first sit in his chair, he chats with you, looking at your hair and detecting patterns. If you give him the freedom, he will suggest the right style, cut and color that will make you happy and beautiful. He's very easy to talk to, takes his training seriously, and never rushes you. I was also impressed with the salon itself- clean and elegant, but not pretentious. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and considerate, offering beverages and making payment easy by bringing a tablet straight to your chair. I happened upon salon sage just by googling local salons. I had actually tried to get in with another stylist, but I couldn't get in with her for another 3 weeks and I couldn't wait that long. Luckily, Becca was available. She sat and let me vent about all my fine, thin haired problems, which, lucky for me, she could relate to. Her suggestions were incredibly helpful. She picked a hair color that perfectly complimented my skin tone and added highlights to give my hair a fresh, summer look. Because I have fine hair, I have always gone with a one length, but Becca was able to give me a fun, updated look with out making my hair look even thinner. Basically, she worked a miracle on my hair in two hours. The price was absolutely reasonable and comparable to other high end salons in the area. Don't expect Sport Clips prices. read more

I recently recommended Salon Sage to a friend. I told her I would follow Tiffany to the ends of the world. She said that was quite the recommendation. My response? "It's always important to have a good cut and color. There is never an excuse for dead-ends, even if you are trekking through the end of the world as we know it." Just moved here recently and got a recommendation from a friend to check out salon sage. I am very picky about my color so I was very nervous to try something new. But we got it perfectly the first time with Ashley P! She helped me find the exact tone of brown red I wanted for my roots and gave me suggestions on how to gradually correct my hair from my prior Salon's bad coloring! I had an appointment with Riat two weeks ago. It was my first appointment with him and he immediately put me at ease. He reviewed three pictures of possible styles I had brought and went over the pros and cons of each. He then described a scenario where we put together elements of two of the styles and described exactly what he would do and how it would look. Then he went to work and gave me a luxurious shampoo and conditioning treatment. As he cut my hair he patiently described what he was doing. I was so excited to see the outcome. Not only does she thoroughly explain the processes and products, she also explains new styles and trends to create an even more customized style for you. This salon is beautiful with an amazing vibe and attitude. I moved down to Northern Virginia in January and was looking for a place to a hair cut. I've been avoiding it for months. My friend said she knew a stylist at Salon Sage named Johnny. He cut my hair and it looks amazing. I don't usually have much of an opinion about what I want, and gave him full control. He did such a good job, and really took his time. My favorite part was that he explained how and why to blowdry my hair a certain way. Who knew I'd been blowdrying my hair all wrong my entire life. I was told Jesus does men's hair very well, but because I didn't want to spend too much, I opted for Beckah. And I am glad I did. She was very knowledgeable and quick. I've been going to Ashley for almost ten years; she's that good. As someone with curly hair, It's really nice to have a stylist who listens to me, always offers helpful styling advice and makes sure I get what I want from a cut/color (If you want a trim, you actually get one, which doesn't happen at most salons.). I had a curly hair cut and balyage with Ashley P. I do want to start that both Ashley and the staff are very nice and also the salon has a good atmosphere. The Ouidad haircut was ok, it was a different technique than when I go to the Ouidad signature salon in NYC, but it did turn out ok. The balyage: I showed her some photos of how I wanted it to look. The result not that great, the blond turned out very yellow, which I really hate. I asked for more white or ash looking blonde. And the roots look very dark, very unhappy with results . I've had my hair cut at Salon Sage three times now, and had wonderful experiences with each cut. The salon is clean and organized and not overwhelming. Tiffany has been my stylist all three times and I cannot say enough great things about her. I receive compliments all the time after visiting her. Ashley Love is an amazing hair stylist. She has an eye and incredible gift for hair color. I would follow Tiffany to the ends of the earth but luckily she's at Salon Sage! I've been with her for years and will never stop. She's the queen of hair straighteners. I have super thick, coarse hair and she turns it beautiful and silky. I don't think there are many stylists you'd care to spend 4 hours with but I literally can't wait to see her and spend time sipping coffee and catching up. Ashley has been cutting my hair for almost a decade now. I am so excited that she now has her own salon. Ashley is a brilliant hair stylist, and she is also one of the nicest, most down to earth people you will ever meet. Her new salon has a fun, upbeat vibe and is welcoming to everyone-- you won't find an ounce of "snootiness" here! Ashley is also so sweet with my four year old-- I will take the last appointment of the day and then she squeezes my daughter in at the end for a "junior" cut. She even takes the time to do something extra special- like cute curls or a fancy braid. (My daughter is convinced that Ashley is some sort of fairy princess.) Although I have only had my hair cut by Ashley, I have a friend who swears that Tiffany is the only person who has ever been able to tame her wild curls-- so you can't really go wrong with either of them! The last few times I have gotten my hair done Bekah has done it and it has always been exactly what I've wanted. Even when I've gone in not knowing what I want she's given me a cut and style that is very flattering and attractive. She does some lovely massages while washing my hair and is good about remembering clients and what they like from hair cuts to how hot you like the water when your hair is getting washed and is very personable. The whole staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely the best salon I've been too. Very focused on the customers satisfaction. As far as the salon itself goes, it is always clean and presentable and very attractive. You never feel like you're sitting in hair and you're never uncomfortable. I probably tried 15 different stylists after I moved to the Northern Virginia area, but then I found Ashley, and she has done my cut/color for the past seven-ish years. I was so happy and excited for her to open her own place. The space is great, the staff is friendly, the product lines are good, and they're still customizing the salon, so it's fun to come in each time and see what's new. I can't say enough good things about Ashley. She is the perfect blend of a good listener who will give me the look I want and a creative thinker who will bring in a new idea. She has also given me some wonderful coaching on how to style and take better care of my hair. Ashley did updos for my mom and me for my wedding and I honestly couldn't believe that was our actual hair; it looked like something out of a magazine, and it stayed perfect all day/night.
