Came here to get a blonde color done on my long natural hair. I paid for the consultation and came in and completed it with Rosalie. She was super kind, very knowledgeable, and really did an in-depth dive of what I wanted. I scheduled my appointment for a partial balayage and came back about three weeks later to get it done. Again the salon is super clean, I love the vibes as they play smooth R&B, I felt really comfortable knowing that Rosalie was going to get it done. I absolutely love the results! She did a phenomenal job with the color and I'm so glad I trusted her with my long, natural hair. The service was spectacular and so catering. Everyone that works there is so kind! 10/10 -- I will DEFINITELY be back!!

I have been coming here for about a year, so it's time to write this review! This black owned business is located in Tribeca Lofts - near Katami and Verde Garden, for any and all kinds of people with various hair types, mostly people of color. She has her own line of hair care products, and sells other hair products as well. Lots of new businesses are popping up in this area, very popular right now. There's a cute coffee shop right across the street. How I found this place - I had been searching online and social media for black hair salon for natural hair that's fairly close to me for a while. And decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews. Setting up an appointment is fairly easy, you can call or go online and book. I think they require a consultation for first time customers, but it's free and you add it to your appointment services. The front desk are very courtesy. They always give you a call or email to confirm your appointment. It's pretty easy to change an appointment, and I have done so when needed. The prices are on par with other usual salon services. But like some things in life, especially hair salons, you get what you pay for. Cheaper places aren't always better, and it CAN be worth paying more for better quality professionals. They have a complimentary drink menu (both alcohol and non alcohol options). My stylist always offers me a drink with my service, which I appreciate. Service - My stylist Jah is the only person I have worked with. But there is many ladies there you can chose from, and find the person that's right for you, and your texture of hair. Jah never rushes me through an appointment, which I find is the most appealing part. We usually start on time promptly, which I also appreciate. Parking - The only real downside is the parking. It's street parking only, they dont have a parking lot or designated spots. You can use the valet from the other businesses, and tell them your going to the salon, that should be complimentary. I have not tried this yet, but staff have told me its an option. I sometimes get lucky and find parking out front on Eberhard St. I have also parked in the neighborhood, and had to walk a bit. Check there website for all the services they provide. You get $10 bucks off if you tag & post on social media.

The service and atmosphere is always the best. No matter which stylist you get, you'll receive great results. I've been going to this salon for 2 years now & my hair is thriving.

Heaven is awesome! She gets straight to business and managed to work with my crazy variety of hair textures. For context I'm a black/asian with textures ranging from 2b-3b. She saved me from my sad attempt and cutting layers at home and I left with healthier, more even, curls.

I made an apt for Friday after work. I booked a curly cut (includes wash and go), deep condition, consultation. I was running late and communicated with the salon and they were cool about it. Before even coming I was a bit off out as they have "tiered" stylists. Basically denoting some are better than others and charge accordingly. I would have preferred to pay extra for a more seasoned stylist but the times didn't work with my schedule and I figure everyone should still be capable. I came in and we discussed the shape I wanted for my cut but no other goals for my hair. I chalked that up to me running late. After my wash and deep condition, my curls "crunchy". I made a face like eww bc no. I said I want the style to *stay* but not crunch and she said ok. She offered me a drink during service and I got a mimosa that was tasty. She got good definition of my curls but used soooo much product (gel) and put me under the dryer for at least 30 if not 45 minutes and the roots were still wet but I didn't want to sit longer. There was a TERRIBLE white cast. She put some oil on and said the white cast would go away in a day or two... I feel like the style should be ready to wear same day but ok. I paid and with tip my service was nearly $200. The next day the gel started to flake HORRIBLY. Looked like I had bad dandruff and my hair was crispy as hell. I had to wash it out and do it again myself so basically wasted $200. The cut looked good in the salon but due to different textures in my natural hair, it looked lop sided when I redid it.

    Curly cut

had been trying to grow out my curly hair when it started falling out. I ended up needing to chop all my hair off to even it all out. Rosalia was super respectful and positive. She did a great job and didn't make me feel embarrassed. I have a very mixed curl pattern, and Rosalia was able to make sure everything was perfectly even. I loved that she cut my hair some more AFTER it was styled. So many curly hairdressers only cut unstyled hair with no product, which leads to uneven results in my case. After styling my hair myself a few days later, I can confidently say that my hair looks amazing again. The prices are expensive but definitely worth it. On another note, I saw Rosalia cutting and styling a man's curly hair while I was there, and it turned out amazing!!! Highly recommend this salon for both men and women, thin hair and full hair, and curly hair of all types.

Service from hell with Ozell, never returning again. Attached a picture of my hair within the first hour AFTER my service. Condensed review- She was doing another client's and poorly attended to me, but had 2 other assistants I believe I help. She instructed someone to have me under a dryer to dry my natural hair into an Afro before blow drying my hair with a comb attachment while it was tangled, causing breakage. The flatiron wasn't to the root nor did she get my nape and the trim was not thorough. Full review below I was scheduled for an Olaplex blowout/silk press with Ozell at 3pm last Friday and I left a little after 6pm. I've had this same treatment elsewhere before but have NEVER had my hair turn out the way it did. I even get better results with just a regular wash at home. The service included a wash, steam treatment, blow dry and flat iron. I also added on a trim. After my hair was washed I was placed under the dryer for about 20 minutes. Ozell was attending to someone else at the moment so someone else rinsed my hair and set up the steam treatment. That was about another 15-20 minutes. After steaming my hair, Ozell was still doing another client's hair and told someone to put me under the dryer again. Since I was getting a blowout/ silk press, I assumed the next step would be blow drying but I trusted the "professionals". I have natural hair so of course while under the dryer for about 30 more minutes, my hair dried into a tangled afro. Ozell was beginning to finish up doing the other person's hair, once she did she had me come to get chair. Once I saw my hair was dried into an Afro I was already upset. I knew my hair wasn't going to come out right. Ozell then tried to blow dry my dried tangled hair using the comb attachment. So of course it is hurting and I immediately saw the breakage, not shedded hair, falling to the floor. Never have I ever experienced this during a blow dry. I've also never attached to put a comb, or comb attachment for that matter, to dried tangled hair! Naturally it hurt as she tried to detangle and blow dry my, again already dried, hair. When I saw the results of the blow dry, my hair looked terrible. I get better results at home. Typically when my hair is blown out, it is already straight, but after this one it was not. The condition of my hair looked way worse than it was before coming, as I also deep condition my hair often and get trims every 2-3 months. (My last trim actually being at this "salon". I usually only come for the wash/blow dry/trim but wanted to get something different this time.) It looked like a condition/steam treatment never even happened, or Olaplex being used which usually make my hair shiny when used home and other places. After the blow dry, she proceeded to flat iron my hair, not even doing the roots as I'm used to when I get a silk press at my previous salon. Even once she finished, my hair looked very dull and I asked if she could curl it. She did some of the trim, but not throughout my entire head as it should've been. She added curls with a curling iron, but not the kind commonly used in presses to add body using a flat iron. I hated my hair but figured I could at least deal with it for the weekend at least as I was attending a formal event the next day and had no time to figure out another way to style my hair. I paid and still tipped and left at 6:05pm. 3 hours and $184 just for my hair to look crazy. As soon as I got home about 45 minutes later and looked in a mirror, my hair was already frizzy and puffy, didn't look anything like I just left a salon getting my hair done. I wasn't even outside 5 minutes, I only walked to my car and to my house after getting home. I've had silk presses before that last 2-3 weeks. This didn't even last an hour.

I just got a shampoo, conditioner, blowout and trim and cannot recommend Shelby and Kapri enough. Such wonderful professionals who provided fantastic assistance with ny hair.

Light snacks, like cranberries and nuts are provided along with hot tea options, and citrus flavored water. The space is very nice. There are locker rooms with plush spa robes and complementary slippers. The locker room has two steam showers if you want to wash yourself after your massage. They also provide hair products to try as well as a Dyson hair dryer. I was definitely very impressed with the luxurious feel of the spa, however, was turned off by the receptionist who checked me in - her robotic, transactional nature was starkly juxtaposed against the warmth of the spa. I noticed she was the same with all customers so it wasn't personal but interaction with her was unsettling. I booked the 60min signature hydrafacial and the esthetician was welcoming and willingly customized my facial based on my requests. No major issues encountered but I noticed we started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early so I thought marketing it as a 60min experience was a bit misleading. Also note the 60min Signature Hydrafacial does not include any hand/neck massages nor boosters nor light therapy so the $285 price was much more expensive than my usual spa. I will not return for another facial but may try massage in the future. We also booked pedicures and again the space is beautiful!! We were given a palette to select colors and the ladies were extremely friendly! My toes came out adorable! I found the seating to be very uncomfortable for a short person despite many pillows placed behind me for support so I honestly struggled to enjoy the experience but the space was very nicely decorated and clean looking. We were offered tea and snacks at the beginning as well. Overall, this was a very nice spa. I found it fairly expensive and overpriced, but I recognize beautiful spaces have a cost and that's what I should've expected in the River Oaks area. There is complementary validated parking!

Nonetheless, this place still gets the job done right. I walked in on a Sunday around 3:45 PM and, despite seeing about 3-4 people ahead of me, I was seated by 4:35 PM - not a bad wait at all! I opted for the wash, cut, and blowout, which came out to a total of $35. I was finished by 5:05 PM, so the service was quick and efficient. (You can call ahead and make an appointment as well). They also let you check the front and back of the hair with a mirror to make sure you like it. Open on Saturdays and Sunday - so perfect for those who are busy/don't have time on the weekdays and need something quick. A heads up: they only accept cash or Zelle, so come prepared.
