I came to Bombshell Hair Shop for a 1940s hairstyle and that's exactly what I got! This retro salon in an unassuming home is cozy and artsy. The best part was my awesome hairstyle. Jill went above and beyond to give me the victory rolls I'd been imagining, but even better because she did three on one side and one on the other. Jill is so patient, cool, and talented. I was referred to her by someone and so I thought I'd see how she'd do cutting my children's hair. She was so good at engaging them and keeping them distracted. My boys look so handsome. My daughter has curls and she had never had a haircut. She's just a little shy of two, and I was nervous, if she got it cut it'd curl up too tightly. Jill cut off just the right amount to make her hair look pretty, and styled. About a month ago I drove by the salon and totally was suckerd in by the badass logo. I have not had my hair cut in Houston in years! And today I finally decided it was time to get my hair cut! When I called I was greeted by a super nice guy, who dealt with my ridiculous over questioning nature with grace and a good laugh. When I got there, same dude from the phone, offers me coffee! Yes! This is good. I feel bad because I'm not sure if Mike was his name, but I think so. I was scheduled with an awesome stylist named Alicia Drew. She was great with telling me what she was going to do, once I went on my rant about it being awhile since I had my hair cut. And she um, yeah, did a badass job! My hair looks and feels so much better. She even sat down and chatted with me for a bit. Which she totally didn't need to do, but did! So basically I left there feeling like... Yeah, these ma people! I used to hate getting my hair cut. NO LONGER! I was (literally) laughed contemptuously out of several hair salons when I indicated to them that I'd like a more androgynous/femme style of cut as I grew my hair out longer. One chain (with 25+ Houston locations) had two women working behind the counter who told me I was confused and needed help... I did - help with a f*ing haircut. So I saw all the 5-star, rave reviews for Jill and Bombshell and figured that seemed like a promising lead. Well, she's awesome. Very quick without rushing, I loooooooved my hair over the past 3-4 weeks and Jill is about as pleasant and decent a person to spend a half hour with as I've met. If you're on the fence, go see her! I get my haircut here by Jill. I had followed her from Venus Hair. She gave me my first pixie haircut at Venus, and I fell inlove with it. I've kept it ever since, and it's been almost a year now. My friends still compliment my hair, and tell me I should keep it. I'm of asian ethnicity so I never thought that my super straight hair and cowlicks would make my hair stick up like the spiky asian guys hair look, but Jill cuts my hair dry and modifies my hair to fit my texture and hair growth. She's a great haircutter, and I highly recommend her for pixie cuts. read more

I made an appointment for 11:30. I showed up at 11:20 and Jill the owner greeted me, said I was early and that she had to shampoo someone's hair (but not blow dry it because the customer hated to have her hair dried). Jill said shampooing would take her 5 minutes. At 11:30 she went to shampoo. At 11:45 I stood up to see what was taking so long. She was blow drying the customer's hair and was not through yet. I don't understand people/businesses that don't respect other people's time. They have an online booking system which I used. Why go through the trouble of setting up a booking system if you don't adhere to it? I don't mind waiting a few minutes but this was way beyond that. I will not be back. I guess that have all the clients they need. Too bad, they lost a good local (to Heights) customer...first time no less. Not a good way to run a business. read more

Ever since I moved to the area I've been getting my hair cut by JT. He's quick and precise. Also makes excellent suggestions (like trimming my bushy eyebrows and tiering my neck) Look out for Wednesday(I think that's her name) She's a new up and comer! Bombshell is hands down my favorite salon in Houston.. and Courtney is hands down my favorite stylist in Texas. Beyond being simultaneously welcoming and uber-cool, Courtney knows her shit. The girl is young, passionate, and CARES about her clients and the product and service she puts out. I have seen her personally give her number to so many clients, letting them know they can always contact her if they have questions on styling, upkeep, etc. I trust Court implicitly, to the point where I don't even need to direct her with my hair. She will tell me what's what - if it's damaged, dry, what I need.. and she will never sell me on anything just for profit. I know this. Her cuts are divine; she really pays attention to a person's style, personality, wants, and needs. Her blowouts have changed my LIFE (seriously, I didn't know sex could be as good as when my boyfriend sees my hair looking as fab as it does after her hands have been on it), and her updo's have always merited attention and comments at every gala, ballet, and opening I attend. The staff at bombshell is incredible.. they are laidback, but still professional, and so much fun to be around. They always remember me and treat me like a friend. Going to get my hair done, for whatever reason, is always like going to hangout with some of the baddest chicks in Houston.. and I leave looking 10x more gorgeous for it. Moving to a new city and state is stressful enough without needing to find a new stylist, too. I randomly found Bombshell after a dentist appointment (they're next door; I was lured in by the gorgeous green hair on one of their clients I saw from the parking lot) when I first met Shayna, a talented color pro on their team. She's a "call them like I see them" type who showed me her portfolio pics, which looked awesome. But being the type who likes to do research, I looked on Bombshell's website and on Yelp to better understand Shayna's work. While she didn't have much posted at the time, I decided to trust my gut and give her talent a try. I'm SO glad I did. She asked me what I wanted, talked me through her approach and confidently approached my hair to bring her stellar creative vision to life. In fact, she was so into it, I was eagerly anticipating the big reveal after my blowout. Another positive: Shayna is a mom, too, and understood my desire to have pretty hair without much maintenance. Enter her color melt/balyage creation. I'm super happy with the results, and will be sure to come back. As for the salon, the uptight, high maintenance types need not apply. This place is the real deal. They are authentically themselves, and the stylists and clients who were there during my appointment all were chatting together. Detailed (but hopefully helpful) review incoming: I got my hair colored for the first time this Saturday at Bombshell Hair Salon. I was VERY apprehensive about going through the coloring process, since I knew absolutely nothing--so I scoured the internet for hair coloring reviews, and decided to give Bombshell Hair Shop a try. It was one of the few that I could find that was decently priced and well-rated. When I called to make an appointment, the owner Jill answered the phone. She was extraordinarily helpful in answering my newbie questions and I was instantly put at ease . On Saturday, I made my way to the salon. I have to say, it is kinda tucked away and easy to miss if you're not paying attention while on White Oak Dr. The parking was a little confusing as I could not tell what parking belonged to which establishment. So that was a tiny minus on my end, but it was really the only negative I could find. I was greeted instantly upon setting foot in the shop, and soon the colorist (Amber) beckoned me over to a chair. She began going through my hair and looking at the photos that I had brought and she also explained the process to me. She went to mix the hair color and came to confirm the color with me to be sure that I got what I wanted. Amber was very friendly, pleasant, and talkative, but she was very skilled and quick. Not only that, but she NAILED the hair color that I wanted, and she was very detailed in explaining how to maintain my new hair. In short, this place is well-rated for good reason. I can't speak for the other associate, but Amber did an amazing job with my hair, and Jill did a great job on the client that was sitting next to me. The salon has an edgy decor and has a really cool artsy and "alternative" vibe that might not jive with some people, but this salon is really really great! Honestly not too pleased with my experience. The man who works there is sweet and lovely, as were numerous others working in the shop, but that's about where it ends. For starters, the girl working the front desk came off EXTREMELY rude, and though I had an appointment set, I still sat and waited 15 minutes. I was scheduled for a dry cut and up do. The dry cut was about average, but I'm extremely disappointed with the up do. For a shop named "Bombshell" I would assume the stylists were at least somewhat skilled at retro hair styles. What should have been shiny victory rolls turned out to be frizzy mouse ears directly on top of my head. In addition to that, my ear was burned with a curling iron (It's blistered!) and was sprayed in the eye with hair spray... And furthermore, going into this knowing I was going to pay about $120 for a cut and style, I expected MUCH better quality. This shop is so cute, but I am very disappointed. read more

I hate to give bad reviews but I truly didn't like my "ombré" (looked like she started highlights halfway through my hair) nor did I like my half a** $65 hair cut I was so disappointed,two days later my hair started turning orangey AND when I straighten it out I noticed my hair was so uneven. Lesson learned about cheating on my hairdresser. The girl who did my hair was nice and funny but the service was way too over priced and seemed rushed, point being I will not go back, but don't take my word for it maybe you'll have a better experience than the one I did. read more

Just got my hair done here for the first time. I enjoyed my experience. The hairdressers were friendly. I got a color and cut for around $200. Not super cheap but not super overpriced. A little more than I wanted to pay but it's hard to find good service for much less these days. Very unique decor and good overall experience! Super cute place! I got my bangs trimmed and loved how they turned out! I had previously gone to another place that left them horrible so I decided to let them grow out. I asked about the pricing online, saw that the price was extremely reasonable ($7) so I decided to go ahead and give this place a try. I went here to try and fix a color job I got at another salon and it was great. They really took the time to look my hair over and talk with me about what the best option would be. We decided to just dye my hair back to it's natural color which is black not dark brown not dark but BLACK most places don't dye it right and I end up having darker roots when it grows out but she matched it up perfectly! Alicia is amazing! I was looking for a new stylist and as Bombshell is super close to my house I thought I'd try it out. Normally when I leave a salon ok with my hair but not really getting anything too close to what I asked for. I showed Alicia some pictures of styles I really liked and she totally nailed it! She gave me a super cute messy bob with ombré style highlights. And of course the other perk is the laid back atmosphere there (especially good when you're spending 2-3 hrs hanging out waiting).
