Very welcoming, love the plants, and I felt like I was a regular immediately! I saw Becca, who was not only super nice, but made sure I was comfortable&asked me many questions on my hair history and type, what I wanted exactly (and what I did NOT want, which is just as important haha). I love the way she cut my hair !! I have never colored my hair before, so Becca gave me a detailed rundown on everything which was very helpful. FYI, everyone here loves to talk to you, which I really appreciated as I love talking lol. Overall, I had a wonderful time getting my hair cut and am definitely coming back for future cuts and for my coloring! Thank you so much honeycomb!!

As a wavy/curly-haired person, I always feel nervous going to a new place for a haircut, but after…read morecoming to Honeycomb four times since moving to Cville, I can definitely say I've found my trusted salon in town! Crystal has talked me through different ideas depending on what I'm feeling and has shaped my hair for both short and long cuts, resulting in manageable hair that works with my waves/curls! And importantly, it doesn't turn into the dreaded triangular poof... I also appreciate that she takes into account what your typical regimen is when cutting your hair (I'm very minimalist aka don't typically style my hair with tools and like to either air dry or throw my hair into a bun); she has given me low maintenance tips on how to manage it that I continue to use. Definitely recommend coming here if you have wavy/curly hair! Note: The front door is a bit hidden between two larger shops so look for the yellow honeycomb sign on the door and go up the stairs and into the left door. They also provide parking validation which is great and you can book appointments online!

Then nothing I requested - blow out and pin flower in hair -was acknowledged or addressed. I was not greeted upon arrival. Walked into middle of salon and had to find my way to the stytlist. The stylist had to get an owner to finish up b/c he didn't know how to pin a flower in above ear. (Not an up do). A smock was not put on me for shampoo so my clothes got wet. I was barraged with text and emails about "if I miss appointment." I will be charged and yet no information was given about how to find entrance. I looked for 15 minutes. Hidden at top of a hill. You have to know to drive up a steep hill to find it. Positive: Megan did a wonderful job pinning the fresh flower in. I love the feel of the space, a tree top oasis.

I probably would go somewhere else if it wasn't for my stylist, Dillian. I've tried a number of salons in Charlottesville based off of various recommendations and he has given me the best cut so far. Everybody who works at Shear Power is extremely nice I do enjoy visiting. That being said, they will try to upsell you in every way possible, from deep conditons, to protein treatments, to eyebrow waxes to hair product. Just hold your ground and say no. I used to fall for it every time but ever since I was talked into getting a perm that I ended up hating, I've stopped falling for the upsells. Based on my concerns about the perm, they should have steered me away and into something else. I wanted a wave, not frizzy tight curls. They could have cared less, they just wanted the upsell. Btw - it's not my stylist that pushes product, it's everyone else. He stays out of it. Oh, I also wouldn't recommend getting your brows waxed there.
