I have been to this salon for other services: facial, nails etc and always loved it but now that my stylist has moved here, well it's a no brainer. As for the professional hair stylist: I have been seeing her for years and she recently moved to this salon. I should have wrote a review long ago about how awesome she is, but better late than never. Rachael Morgan is the most talented colorist I have ever been to. I have been to so many people who cannot do blonde highlights/color even half as well as she can. I either ended up with candy cane hair that looked like chunky stripes or yellow/brassy highlights that looked terrible. If anyone ever needs an expert colorist. She is your girl. The best part? She is honest. If you have super dark brown or black hair. You cannot get your hair this color. If you try to get it this color your hair will be damaged/breaking and still won't be this color. It's just not possible. She won't sell you something that A: isn't possible for your hair type or B: won't be what you asked for it to look like. If she says she can do it, she can! She won't take your money and shrug when it doesn't look how you wanted it to look. She says, yeah so that won't work on your hair type because of this or that but we can do this and this and that will work and look good. She will say things like, my advice would be this or that to go with your complexion etc. She is a miracle worker. I live in northern Virginia and I drive 2 hours every 6-8 weeks to get my hair done. She is that good! In conclusion, if you are looking for a kind, honest and most importantly expert professional hair stylist/colorist, she is ABSOLUTELY the one you should go to. She is professional and doesn't get offended if you don't want to talk. I have been to many stylists who wouldn't stop talking about themselves the whole appointment. Sometimes you just want to be quiet and relax. She will absolutely be conversational but is fine with silence too, which as many people know is a rarity in this line of business! Go see her! All the stylists are pleasant and friendly and prices are affordable. It's conveniently located across from the new mall/Trader Joe's. Sheila has styled my hair for over two years and has never disappointed. She is a skilled stylist and an experienced colorist. She really listens to me, makes good recommendations, and takes the time to figure out with me what I really want each time. When I think I want a change, I come prepared to talk it over with Sheila. She never minds the extra time and never rushes me, making sure we are on the same page before proceeding. She's always game to try something new, or go back to something I liked previously, too, never makes me feel bad for wanting to do that. If you are looking for someone to fix a really bad hair cut, please give Sheila a chance to help you. She straightened my hair out twice from awful cuts, where there was not a lot left to work with in both situations (the first time was when I met her, and then once was after I'd tried someone new because I didn't want to wait for her to return from leave... Honestly, I went in with a funky, ombre-hair-color-thing going-on and they fixed it. But it was a bill of about $325. I've NEVER paid that much in my life. After seeing the back of my hair, and paying normal prices elsewhere, I felt totally taken advantage of. Never again. A good experience with a friendly staff but the prices are gouging!

Kathy won't let me leave without a blowout and my hair always looks great when I leave the salon, but when I do it myself I can just put a little product on it and let it dry naturally, and I still like the way it looks. Kathy also does color, highlighting, and glossing, and she cuts men's hair as well. The same is true of the other stylist at Hair FX, Debbie (who also gives great haircuts).
