Way overpriced. This place is okay if you are married to a millionaire. Not at all welcoming and the people working there seem to look down at you. You are basically paying for the "atmosphere". Lord only knows what the rent is here, not alone other expenses. This place really does not belong in Staunton VA. The stylists working there know no more than stylists at any other salons. Nicole And Tia we're amazing and beautiful ladies although I was not a customer they were gracious enough for me to tour their facility and very nice. They are a salon and spa that offer lash lifts and estheticians. They also have liquivida, if you need to replenish your vitamin intake after a wine tour with the girls. This place is super glam chic and has a male grooming salon on 1st floor along with cafe. The the staff here was beyond friendly and courteous enough to allow me a definite future customer to tour their salon. read more

On a recent visit to friends in the area, I really needed a haircut and style. After reading reviews on several salons, I decided to try the High Tech Salon and am so glad I did! This is not your ordinary hair salon, each of the stylists runs his or her own business and you go into a separate room. Reminds me of a salon visit a few months ago, at a high end spa in Naples, where each stylist had their own room at the spa. The Naples visit cost a lot more, but the quality of the service in Staunton was as good as or better. Gwen did an amazing job with my hair, she listened and understood the look I was going for and she made it happen. Their website is nicely done, with prices listed upfront, no surprises there, and you can read a bio on each stylist. Reading about the type of hair service they specialize in, can help you narrow down the search for a good hair stylist. L.A. was able to tone down much of the damage from the other salon, and was very up front in letting me know it would probably take more than one visit to fix it. I took my time to write this review since it's been two months since my service I feel like I'm like ready... I had my eye liner tattooed on and which is an expensive venture so I don't want anyone else falling for it! After my original service I was not satisfied and I went back for a touch up in November and I paid to have both the top and bottom done originally and the first service I could barely tell. But after the services healed I couldn't tell at all! When I went back in November I can see a little difference on the top but the bottom is non existent... so to say I'm disappointed is an understatement! I hope this helps someone cause I went over reviews before my visits and thought I was making a good choice now I feel as if I was ripped off! This salon is great and the atmosphere is pleasant. I forgot my wallet today and I was able to pay by giving my account info to them. So flexible and accommodating. They are taking covid precautious seriously and it is clean! I have been to this salon for other services: facial, nails etc and always loved it but now that my stylist has moved here, well it's a no brainer. As for the professional hair stylist: I have been seeing her for years and she recently moved to this salon. I should have wrote a review long ago about how awesome she is, but better late than never. Rachael Morgan is the most talented colorist I have ever been to. I have been to so many people who cannot do blonde highlights/color even half as well as she can. I either ended up with candy cane hair that looked like chunky stripes or yellow/brassy highlights that looked terrible. If anyone ever needs an expert colorist. She is your girl. The best part? She is honest. If you have super dark brown or black hair. You cannot get your hair this color. If you try to get it this color your hair will be damaged/breaking and still won't be this color. It's just not possible. She won't sell you something that A: isn't possible for your hair type or B: won't be what you asked for it to look like. If she says she can do it, she can! She won't take your money and shrug when it doesn't look how you wanted it to look. She says, yeah so that won't work on your hair type because of this or that but we can do this and this and that will work and look good. She will say things like, my advice would be this or that to go with your complexion etc. She is a miracle worker. I live in northern Virginia and I drive 2 hours every 6-8 weeks to get my hair done. She is that good! In conclusion, if you are looking for a kind, honest and most importantly expert professional hair stylist/colorist, she is ABSOLUTELY the one you should go to. She is professional and doesn't get offended if you don't want to talk. I have been to many stylists who wouldn't stop talking about themselves the whole appointment. Sometimes you just want to be quiet and relax. She will absolutely be conversational but is fine with silence too, which as many people know is a rarity in this line of business! Go see her! I went here to get my hair retouched, my hair was previously blond and i had some really out grown roots, i have gotten my hair bleached multiple time before and they were able to lift my hair in just one session, i came here and i was taken in by Madison i showed her what i wanted and she said she could do it, mind you the first picture is what i wanted and thats also my hair in the picture, when she started it looked like she was doing hilights in my hair but i was trusting the process after we got done with my hair i took a look and it was COMPLETELY DIFFERENT then what i had asked for. i told her i didn't like it and she knew i was really upset some how she tried to justify her messing up by saying "i can't lift ur hair in one session" the second picture is what she did to my hair and as you can see its ginger. NO WERE NEAR BLOND. i told her i didn't like it and i even came back because i was really upset. and she still charged me $255 for someone I DID NOT ASK FOR. this was a completely terrible experience. someone has never messed up my hair this badly and i didn't even get a discount and apology NO NOTHING. i advise you guys to save ur money and go somewhere els. Way overpriced. if you want all the "extras" and you want to be in a place that looks as though it should be in Hollywood, then this is the place for you. It must cost a fortune to operater the place. The people who work there sort of look down on you. The atmosphere is not friendly at all. I felt very uncomfortable when I was there. Very "uppity" salon. They have like 20 stylists and their prices differ from one to another. You can get the same service at other salons in the area for way less. They brainwash you into thinking they are the best. You are paying for them to operate a spa as well as having estheticians and all the extras that you don't need in a salon if you only want a good cut and color. I informed her that I would be driving over an hour and a half to get to my consultation and she greeted me with an additional 15 minute wait. even though that she assured me that she had a large period of time tomorrow to accommodate fixing my hair, at the end of my consultation the appointments were already booked! she even offered me a free hair conditioning treatment (that already comes with all of her cuts as a special promotion) for my having to drive so long, wow, did I feel special! I had 2 hair salons cancel on me within a week. That's a long story short, but believe me, it was not my doing. I was cancelled at the last minute by one, and the other the night before. I decided to telephone High Tech, and was greeted by a most professional receptionist who said that Gwen could see me that very day. WOW! Gwen was so very kind, and professional. She really listened to my concerns, and took great time and care to get it just right. She blended my bangs, and to that I might add, NO ONE has been able to do that. It's a cut that moves freely, easy to style, my hair does not tangle when I blow dry, and all in all I'm extremely happy. I have another appt. with her very soon, and will return again and again. I have a very unique hairstyle with shaved sides and longer pieces which requires someone taking their time while trimming. I had an appointment, but when I got there, it felt very rushed. The stylist didn't pin my hair back properly so was cutting off long pieces with the clippers and left several patches that should have been shaved evenly. When I got home, I realized just how bad it was. The shaved section had spots where she clearly cut way too short and patches that had barely been touched on. For the price I paid, I expect much better attention to detail. Th high point was Rene doing my eyebrows. She listened to what I wanted, and before the wax ever went near me, she described in detail what she was going to do while showing me in the mirror. She took her time and I am VERY pleased with that aspect of the visit. read more

What an absolutely terrible salon. A friend of mine had an appointment with Raven Ralston a month ago that did not go well. Raven did not give my friend the black roots that she wanted or give her a refund when she asked for it. I saw the screenshots and Raven was very rude and immature about the situation. When my friend emailed the "Owner", Terry, to report Raven he did absolutely nothing, not even an apology. I will also be reporting this salon to the VA Heath Department as well because they do not follow the COVID-19 guidelines, the employees do not wear masks and most of the customers do not either (This was even said by Raven.) Overall, if you are looking for a salon, dying your hair at home with box dye is better than this place. Extremely overpriced, horrible results and even worse service. I will be sure that none of my family, friends or even strangers around me go here again. read more

I really wanted to give this place 4 stars because they squeezed me in last minute for waxing and I love the aesthetician but it is still very expensive. It is a huge building that offers everything beauty from nails, massage, hair, and waxing. They also have a café that looked yummy but their hours are very limited. I was so impressed with the atmosphere that I looked at their pricing for nails, massage, and hair but it was all so expensive. They have to whole tiered pricing for stylists based on experience so if you're super picky and want to pay a lot come here. I started coming here about 6 months ago on the recommendation of a friend. My masseuse was named Theresa I believe but can't remember for sure. I initially went in for a massage and was very pleased. I have had several great sessions and have even started getting my hair done recently by Sam and I now see why people spend 30+ for a hair cut instead of just going to the barber shop at the mall. I have been going to High Tech for 14 years now..even though I moved all the way to Northern Va 5 years ago (21/2 hours each way!!!) and I would never change! Thank goodness my husband or daughter drives me, as I could never make the trip! My stylist is Terry Back, the owner. I leave the salon feeling like a princess each and every time. Terry take the time to listen to what I want for my hair, and he makes it happen. Terry also takes the time to train each new team member personally, so the staff is very well educated. High Tech uses only the best products from Italy. I have also used many of their spa services, and have never been disappointed. As a person who lives less than 30 miles from DC, I have many options for hair care, yet I continue to be loyal to Terry and the team at High Tech, in spite of the drive. I have been a faithful High Tech customer for several years now. I've used all the various services in the salon and spa. I get a pedicure at least once a month and massages and facials every few months. I have been complaining about the broken and leaking pedicure chairs for well over 2 years. I keep being promised they are getting new ones. I've also complained about the amount of noise you can hear from the break room when you are in certain rooms for a massage or facial. Once again, the main salon area is being renovated, which is at least the 3rd or 4th time in the 10 years or so I've been going there. My pedicure 3 weeks ago was the final straw. The chairs are still broken (the jets work but not the massage or heat), the jets are getting louder plus the one chair has a broken jet that shoots up on the footrest area, and the construction noise was ridiculous! If I had been having a massage, I would have refused to pay for it with all the hammering and banging. I adore the staff, but have had enough. I have canceled all my future appointments and am moving on. The owner needs to realize a spa requires a quiet and relaxing atmosphere as well as functioning equipment. Put your money into keeping customers happy, Terry, instead of renovating and moving the front desk and salon chairs around over and over again! read more
