I want to thank my fellow yelpers for writing about this place. I had been trying to 'reinvent' the wheel by going to a shnazzy salon as a model - i wanted a good look without the pricetag. then, nothing fit my schedule. i looked into miss laura's but they are booked 2 weeks in advance. salon monet was available - i called and they said come right in. i sat down and olga said what do you want - i said, i don't know, maybe something slightly punkish but something that will look good with my face shape, etc. she gave me a suggestion that sounded good to me and went to work. i really like what she did - she gave me styling tips so that i have more volume with the haircut, and gave suggestions for highlights if i wanted to try that, and she said call anytime if i want more tips. she was friendly - i asked for the price beforehand but she said relax.. which was weird but i had read on yelp that this place had like $28 haircuts.. since my hair is long, it was $35. quite a bargain in the city. so i made out well - it's definitely a place i'd go back to. i get nervous about getting my haircut, and i used to always get the same thing - this time i asked for something different and what she did is definitely unique but flattering. very good! Update - I visited Olga again, and she was still amazing. I have pretty much decided that she will be my official hair stylist. She really pays attention to how my hair is, and she seemed to remember how it was last time I saw her also. I have a weird health problem now that affects my hair and she gave me a lot of ideas on how to make sure it stays healthy and thoughts on how to change my hair style accordingly. She is excellent.. and still reasonably priced. :) EDIT on 9/25/2010 - The last time she did my hair she used a razor and it became very thinned out in a bad way.. See my new review on Liquid Hair Salon, it is sooo much cooler and better! (and the same price) read more

I called the day of asking for a haircut and had same day service. Seda cut my hair and she did a really good job. My last haircut done by a different stylist was botched so I was pretty skeptical about getting my haircut but it turned out really good. She gave me good layers and also gave me tips on how to maintain my hair. The service was very affordable as well. read more

Seda did a great job with my curly hair. I came in to make an appointment for the following day. Seda promptly got started when I arrived the next day, starting with a thorough wash and then a seat in the barber chair. She asked what I wanted, 2-3 inches off with layers and got right to work. She worked quickly but precisely, no sloppiness here. When I asked for it a little shorter, she advised against saying the layers would shorten it a bit plus my hair was curly. I'm glad I went with her recommendation. I was in and out in 40 minutes and paid a total of $40, $30+$10 tip. This is a great place for an affordable haircut for those with curly hair! I'm just visiting but I'll keep Salon Monet in mind for next time I'm in the area. :) cheers read more

Salon Monet - Card in front of location - Hair Salons Near Me - Brookline, Massachusetts

I was a sophomore in college when I first discovered Salon Monet after desperately wandering down the C-Line seeking a new cut for a "new chapter" in my life. Ladies, you know what I mean. As I was getting my hair washed, the beautician ordered that I have to get my eyebrows done without question. Horrifying. I was too scared to argue and went with it. Well, I can tell you I looked like a new person. Such a fantastic job - great shaping and relatively painless. The ladies of Salon Monet have their strong opinions, but it's well worth the slightly harsh criticism. Tough love, wonderful results. As far as the haircut, $30-35 for a cut and blowout - and let me tell you, the blowout lasts for days (as well as the brows - weeks!). They work with super curly hair and super straight hair and the price is right (brows are $15 i believe). I experimented with a lot of salons, but always wound up coming back to Salon Monet... and they have always remembered me. Talk about customer service. Five stars without hesitation. And you don't even *really* need an appointment! read more

The pedicures here are great. They are very careful with cleanliness, and the service is calm and unhurried. My feet and toenails always look great! read more

I've had some consistently horrible haircuts here. moderately priced, but awful none the less. However, i find that Olga makes up for what she lacks in hair cutting ability with eyebrow waxes. she takes her time and really does a shape that works for each individual face shape. read more

I intended to go to Irina's Skin Care, but unfortunately she was not there today. One of the hair stylist, Mariam, was nice enough to take me in to have my eyebrows and underarms waxed before her first hair appointment. She was very friendly and professional and made the waxing process painless. The prices are a little bit more expensive compared to what I am use to, but overall great service with a smile. read more

I've gone through three hairdressers since I moved to Boston last year. I was ready to give up and just stick with a salon I wasn't crazy about. Then, a colleague referred me to Salon Monet. They use the right products for my multi-cultural hair and listen to me when I describe a cut or style. This may not seem like a big deal, but some places try to give you a style or cut you don't want. read more

This place is a real find! Seda does a superb job at cutting, styling, coloring and gentle highlighting, plus an unbelievably cute kids' haircuts for just $16 (she is quick and friendly, and the candy is there too!) It's a Newbury quality service at a much better price, with a nice chance to find parking. They also sell many top-line hair products, European and natural, which I was not able to find anywhere else. I started by taking kids there, as an alternative to Snip-its, who frustrated us with unpredictible haircuts and long waits. After seeing my kids with such awesome "coiffures" time and again, I tried it myself and had to come back bringing relatives and friends. I highly recommend Seda's service to anyone, who could get to Brookline! read more

Love this place! Everyone here is so warm and friendly you feel like you're at home! And best of all the services are all incredible. Wonderful styling, haircuts and nails at super affordable prices!! Lin does the best nails and Seda and Olga are fabulous hairdressers! Love these women! Look forward to coming here every week :)))) read more

Five stars for eyebrows! A bad threading experience down the street left me with super thin brows, so I spent the past few months growing them back. I found myself five days from my wedding (aka crunch time!) with somewhat patchy brows. Mariam to the rescue! She actually cared about the shape I wanted, and she *listened* when I asked to keep them as large as possible. Great waxing experience at Salon Monet! read more

I went here because a friend said she got a decent cut for $25. Not wanting to pay my usual $45 for my cut downtown, I thought I'd give this a try. I'm never going back because: (1) I was charged $45 for at most a mediocre cut that Seda did in seven minutes. (2) I got an uneven haircut. I had a long bob just above the shoulders that I needed trimmed up, nothing crazy. She didn't ask how I parted it, nor did she even out the sides. I now have to go back and ask for someone else to at least even up my cut. (3) She was rude. She interrupted my cut to attend to other customers, made me wait to get my hair dried. If you're looking for a great place to get a cut for $45, don't go to Salon Monet. My suggestion: Go to Beaucage on Newbury. They are professional, friendly, and you'll love their work. read more

i went to salon monet for eye lash extentions and was very unhappy. I was overcharged, upcharged and they came out horrible. They fell out on the corners beginning on the second day, my eyes became red and irritaded and they were clumping and crossing. I ended up going to have them fix while i was away on a business trip in az. they salon i went to, Brow Lady specialized in eye lash work and fix everything. They finally look good and my eyes arent red. Thank goodness for Brow Lady, they were awesome. Went I got back from my business trip, I called to speak with the manager, Shelly and she was rude and basicallty told me that I was "wrong". I was wrong because I was calling too late for her to settle my issue. The tech, Chy, was gone and there was nothing she could do. I wonder why the tech was gone. Anyway, I was simply asking for a percentage off my fee. Shelly raised her voice with me and basically gave me an attitude from the get go. She was willing to do NOTHING. What great customer service Shelly. Lastly, the salon charged me $25 dollars to hold my appointment and never deducted this from the bill. I took another 3 calls to get this sorted and I am now taking up my issues with AMEX. I was charged $325 for bad extensions....be warned, this salon is awful. read more

This place is awesome. Thanks to other yelpers' reviews, I went and had my eyebrows waxed by Olga a couple months ago. It was the first time I'd had them done in about a year. I had done them previously by Lavinia Borceau in Brookline Village, but for $20, I just didn't think they were that amazing. Olga did a fantastic job and it was $8. Today, I went back to Olga (another fantastic eyebrow job, and this time I had my upper lip hair done as well ($12)). AND a haircut by her -- again, thanks to the others reviewing here! I couldn't be happier to have found a salon that can do both and for such an amazing price! read more

This was about the worst haircut I have ever had. I had a bad feeling when the woman started talking to me about a client of hers who wanted their tushy waxed...TMI! Then she parted my hair down the middle and started cutting AFTER I told her I part it on the side. She was on and off the phone the whole time. She also cut it all one length even though that I not what I asked for. Unfortunately I couldn't tell that until I got home because drying costs extra and I just wanted to get the heck out of there. She also waxed my eyebrows and burned me pretty bad on the eyelid. read more

This is for waxing only. I have always been able to walk right in. Affordable prices and she does a good job.

Seda is GREAT with color - works fast & reasonably priced!!

I've been going to Salon Monet for years now. I always go to Mariam for a cut, highlights and eye brow wax and would never go anywhere else. She is the sweetest and best at her job. We have a following in my group of friends that all use her as their stylist. The salon is conveniently located on Beacon Street and super easy for parking on the weekends when I typically go. The overall salon could use an upgrade with some fresh colors or photos on the wall but its always very reasonably priced and the people are great! read more

Miriam. That is all you need to know. I have been going to Miriam for my eye brows for 8 years! When I moved to DC I made it a point to see Miriam any time I came up for a visit. My friends and I all see Miriam and she is exceedingly kind and personable. Her skill in waxing is second to none. The shape is perfect, she takes her time and does it right. Go see Miriam. Trust me! read more

I love Salon Monet! My husband and I both get our hair cut here. Seda provides wonderful hair cuts for both men and women. I would highly recommend this salon that is conveniently located on the C-line. read more

Had waxed my eyebrows in the past and did a great job however this time left me with awful burns. Nothing I could do but let the skin heal and it was super uncomfortable and embarrassing to have these burns on my face. read more

I use to hate getting cuts because I'm never happy with the result or the experience of going to a salon. I am a designer and realizing that sometimes I could be a bit picky...but about 10 years ago I finally discover Seda and Salon Monet. I totally enjoying coming to Brookline to this friendly, off-Coolidge Corner neighborhood salon with relaxed atmosphere and the highest professionalism. I can't imagine going anywhere else. I've been going to Seda for many years by now and have gone through quite a few hairstyles. Anything from covering stubborn grays to cut to blow-dry and styling - Seda's knowledge of what works the best for your hair is exceptional. My hair will look fantastic and people ask me where I got my terrific haircut. read more

I would highly recommend this place! Seda is great professional and very nice person. I'm using her services for many years. She always gives right advice, and I look 10 years younger after visit to her salon. Not to mention that prices a very reasonable, and she always trying to feet my needs to her schedule! read more

I walked in here and was very frightened, but I desperately needed my bangs cut, they were starting to reach my nose. I had gone to Dellaria (my last salon of choice) and they were booked solid for the evening. I wandered around and happened upon this place. Hair was flying everywhere- I was scared! The stylist asked me how the bangs were, I said good and she said they should be a little bit shorter. I was scared because I have a big forehead. SHE DID A GREAT JOB. I love my bangs! She gave me her card and I think I will be returning when I need a full cut. What a great find :) read more

I finally got the nerve to have Seda, the owner, cut my hair. She did an EXCELLENT job ... twice! I'm quite impressed. I'd say she gives a better cut than the hair stylist I've been going to for years. What do you know?! read more

I love this salon! Seda and her team always provide an excellent service. I got a haircut and a blowout and was absolutely happy with it. The services are very affordable which makes me want to come back to Seda again and again. I highly recommend Salon Monet! read more

Salon Monet is a great find in Brookline in terms of quality AND price. I've always had trouble finding a stylist who can handle cutting and styling thick hair (I had previously gone to a few other salons in the area) until I found Katrina. She's great at styling my hair short and uses a razor to thin it out so my hair feels light and doesn't poof out. I've had my hair cut, dyed and got my eyebrows waxed and the prices are all very reasonable. $12 for eyebrow waxing and they come out excellent every time. I definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

Salon Monet is a breath of fresh spring air to someone who wants an amazing haircut and hardly denting a budget! I have had disasters in the past at other places, so as a young professional and a student, I now know a regular, dependably flattering haircut is possible. This is a cute, quaint salon with wonderful women from possibly the Ukraine who really know how to do hair! They have that euro style that is unparalleled by many pricy American hairdressers. They have the basics and undivided individual attention that really pull off a great cut every time. I have been going to Olga for one and a half years and she has cut my hair when its long ($30 with tip, no extensive blow dry) and now pretty short ($20 with tip, without a long blow-dry, just enough to not freeze outside) and does an AMAZING job every time. I recommend this place for all women (unsure, but probably men should be happy with the quality and price as well), at any stage in life! Can't beat this price. My humble opinion. read more

The best place for a Brazilian wax! Mariam makes the process fast and painless . I've always been really picky about where I get my waxing done because I am a wuss for pain. I tried a few places in the area before I found Mariam and now I don't dream of going anywhere else. She also gives beautiful hair cuts. I wouldn't recommend any other place! read more
