Love the decor inside, very clean and the staff are warm and welcoming. They offer coffee, tea and/water. I absolutely love the highlights done by Wayne! Came here for the first time to get a haircut. Called on a Saturday at the last minute and was able to see Diane later that day. Just my luck! As I was getting my haircut, I really wanted to know if it was possible to get my hair dyed all one color. I should have started out by saying that my hair was bleached about 10 months ago, I had faded purple, and my natural hair color is black. I got sick of the 4 different colors on my head. (Black, white, purple, blonde). I wanted to go back to my natural color for the fall. Wayne rescued the day! He gave me a 10 minute all over, back to my natural color, black. So not only did I get it cut, I got it colored too! I couldn't been happier! Cut, color and dry for a reasonable price. Staff were all really nice and accommodating. read more

Ever since we started bringing our little girl to her new preschool in Roslyn, we have had more time to explore what this great town has to offer. AND we have also begun to receive some unusual requests from a 3 year old princess. One day out of the blue, my daughter asked me about a particular building and what it was used for. I was more than a little surprised- we pass hundreds of buildings all the time and she has never done this before. I explained that this was a business that is a salon and that they cut hair among other things. After that, everyday she would keep saying that she wanted to go. EVERY DAY. Finally I called and explained exactly what was going on and could we book an appointment for a wash and cut. After much laughing and conversation we were able to book an appointment with Michelle for 5:30- right after I pick up my little princess. From the moment we walked in the door, we were made to feel at home and relaxed. Anastasia had never had a haircut before and we weren't sure what to expect. When the girls greeted her and led her into the back for a wash, I was relieved to see that she was looking forward to the experience. Everyone she encountered was so friendly and nice, that it really made our day. From a soft towel to some purple colored shampoo, she was really delighted to have the experience. Next up was Michelle making her acquaintance and inviting her to take a big leap into a big chair to get her hair trimmed. She asked us what we were hoping to do, and to be honest, I really didn't give it much thought on styling. Her hair had gotten so long in the last year, that all we were looking to do is shorten it a bit to make it easier to brush in the morning. She really did an awesome job setting our little girl at ease and getting some scissors working at the same time. Awesome service by a great bunch of ladies. I'm sure we will see you soon. read more

I've been going to Salon Mayne for a couple of years now, let me tell you Anthony does a bomb job at highlights,haircuts,and balayage. Every time Anthony has lightened my hair, it has been never damaged after using bleach unlike other hair salons.Instead it always feels soft and healthy which I love. As a girl who switches from blonde to brunette Anthony has always made sure my hair was not damaged through the process. He also gives his full honesty as well,which is a very nice quality. My highlights never look chunky they always look very subtle and smooth which I love!Salon Mayne is a beautiful hair salon and is always clean everyone there is so sweet. I love this place. Have been going here since they have opened up. The ambiance is nice and relaxing, even when there are a few people getting hair cuts, getting a wash, or getting their hair colored. The longest I have had to wait is about 10-15 minutes to get my haircut, and that's rare. With whatever haircut I show, my hairstylist does it as soon as close as she can to the picture. It's amazing. Even with trims, my hair stays the same for months. I love that my hair stays the way it gets cut for 3-6 months at a time. The people that work there are very friendly and sweet and always ask how my day was. The receptionist is very nice and jokes and laughs with me every now again. read more

Best blonde ever. Followed Cindy from her last salon to this place. If you want blonde highlights, she is the absolute best. I have gone to many salons in NY and CT and none have come close to the way she does highlights. The salon itself is clean, inviting, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It is literally right off the LIE and has parking right out front. There were home baked goodies and beverages available for clients and I felt like I went to a friend's house. The salon being so wonderful is just an added bonus to having your hair done by the best colorist ever. After having looked for salons closer to my home, I had to go back to Cindy and I kicked myself when I realized that I should have never left! I love this salon! I have been going for highlights to Wayne (one of the owners) for 10 years. He is a god with color!!! I recently cashed in a gift certificate for highlights at another salon and well... it wasn't great to say the least. I went in to Salon Mayne to meet with Wayne and he was so awesome! He not only completely fixed my botched hair job but he discounted it because he felt bad that I had gone through that! Like I said, he is a god! If you ever need color I can't gush about Wayne at Salon Mayne enough. His staff is also friendly and very talented. His partner is an amazing stylist who gave me one of the best makeovers I have ever had. Today I went to see Wayne, after a recommendation from a dear friend. I have just had a baby so my hair was dry, dull, old highlights turned ORANGE, lost a lot of hair, etc. Wayne promised me he would help. From the environment (beautiful tranquil salon), to the warm greetings, to the help from all staff members with products, to Wayne "hair God"!!!! I was so so happy. Cindy is the best colorist around!! I have been going to her for probably about 8 yrs now and she is always great. I have changed my color a few times and she always makes sure she understands the color I want and I'm always happy. Her highlights are beautiful and so natural. She is extremely talented and I have never been disappointed. I also have my haircut there with Victoria, who is wonderful. I googled DevaCurl Stylists and this salon popped up. This place is beautiful but not the people. To all of you beautiful people with strong yet delicate curly hair, especially those that have any type of curly hair or are of any shade darker than creamy white. I implore you to not use this salon. I realize that my hair is kinky curl, but when it was called a 'MOP'... I truly felt sad for the quality of their humanity. I do admit that my red auburn curls weren't combed or washed but that's what I was going to them for. So, I was au-natural with left over keratin which I wanted cut off. I went in with my sister who I wanted to pay for her hair to get cut also. Alice, a stylist who we both choose and another lady who washed our hair were welcoming. We had a pictures pre-saved of the styles we wanted already in our phones and showed it to a very sweet young lady. She did the best she could with our very different types of hair. My sisters hair is a wider more mixed curl and mine is more kinky frizzy. I wouldn't get a cut again from her although she was sweet. We left with afros because she couldn't style curly hair. As we were leaving we wanted to pay and was still being positive and smiled at the receptionist. But from the receptionist to all the others working at the salon were somewhat fierce. Not that envious fierce, but that superiority complex fierce. Eh hum, I think we somehow missed the 'no colored allowed' sign on the door. To tell you the truth, I don't really know why we stayed. Perhaps we just wanted a get hair cuts. Or maybe, it was Alice and the Wondrous look on their faces when we showed that we were going to be the bigger than them. Or because as Human Beings, Latinas, having Martial Arts, plus Military background, and as New Yorkers we felt its possible that they may overcome their issues. Good luck to them! I will light a candle for the gals. I ask all those that feel the truth in my words and are of any color don't use this salon and or light a candle for them. It was the ability of many to march side by side regardless of color to end the blatant racists issues in our Nations past. However, we are still facing racism hidden within society and its individuals. FYI: the lady who said my hair was a mop, feared touching it, and also said 'you must have to brush it really hard'?- Who brushes curly hair!?! That's silly! Her hair was like that of the bride of Frankenstein in the 1935 movie or Gossamer from Looney Tunes'. I'm sorry but i had to add that truthful description. read more

Horrific, scarring experience. Hair had to be recolored three times over a period of 4 hours because after Cindy attempted an ombre twice on my hair (which she said she had done before, but most likely had not) the owner wasn't happy with the way it was done. He redid the entire thing and promised he would fix it. What was supposed to be a subtle ombre turned into my dark brunette hair being entirely stripped of color leaving an ashy green/gray color unevenly applied-- it was horrendous (when I went elsewhere in an attempt to have it fixed, they were shocked and perplexed at how Mayne Salon could have ruined my hair to such a degree). To top it off, the owner, Wayne, was rude and unprofessional when I expressed my concern, yelling at me and bringing me to tears in front of everyone else in the shop (I am not easily brought to tears), and then proceeded to kick me out of his store when he saw I was crying and knew he could not rectify the situation. He stormed into the back after throwing what seemed to be a tantrum of sorts. One of the stylists, Erica, was a doll and followed me outside to see if I was OK. She asked why I was crying saying, "But you have nice blonde hair, what's wrong?" I then informed her that I am a dark brunette and never, ever said I wanted blonde hair. If you go in for a subtle ombre (bottom of hair gradually lightens) then you should not walk out as an ashy blonde. Wayne refused to come out even after Erica went back in the store to get him. It really was an awful experience and I sincerely hope that no one else is subjected to this kind of poor treatment. In addition to his lack of expertise, it seems that this owner is not cut out for the professional realm due to his temper and poor behavior towards clients. read more
