I'm from the city and now live on Long Island. I can't believe I found a hair salon that is better than any salon I've ever been to. I started coming for blowouts with Jen and Michelle. Loved them so much that I had my extensions done by Jen and they have never looked better. They are both the best and never rush on anything. Antonino is the owner and the best colorist on the planet. Scott, the manager, makes mountains move for me. Yes, I now come here for everything. I got my hair done by Olga today. In mid blow she told me I had dandruff and had me rewashed with a special shampoo. She could have just kept it to herself but nope ! She took the time out of her late afternoon to totally redo my long blowout. I look and feel incredible. Everyone here makes this place so special. The only place I will go on Long Island. read more

Quality=0, service request=0 I went in to get a single process done. I have grays and 3 inches of dark roots. they were preaching over my head and talking a lot of hair slang. I have no idea what they are explain. when they were done, the asked what I think. I said I have no idea what you guys was talking about, it's like different language. All I want, one color root to tips, cover my gray. they finished and like nothing was done. then they redo it. looks better, some gray but the color look even. Next day, gray was back, 3 days later color disappeared. I did not wash nor did any heavy lifting, so not sweating. baby sat my mom next day, work after that. Desk job. still not sure what happened. Olga stop calling, the lied to the credit card that they did what I asked for. thanks for picture and text from olga. they charged me twice and claimed that they had to do it twice. $7 box would have done the job. This was my second visit. I get color and cut with Olga. Olga is wonderful! She's super nice and really listens to what you want. This time we went a bit deeper with the shade of color and changed up the glaze adding more color to that as well and the result was just what I wanted. They also don't rip you off. Patti the color specialist exceeded my expectations . She asked me what I liked about my hair and what was my vision and what was I looking to accomplish. I have to give a huge shout to Antonino and Head Rush today! I never post reviews but firstly, as a long time client I have always received great care and service. Patti is a terrific colorist and Jen is not only incredibly talented, but she is the most warm, genuine and committed hair stylist. But TODAY I experienced the salon in a whole new way. While I was getting both color and cut done, unbeknownst to me my parked car was hit in the back and the driver took off. There is damage to the car. Antonino made sure to catch the license plate number and took photos and along with Michael (another talented stylist with an immensely big heart), both sprung into action and were responsible for tracking down the driver and making him accountable. Carissa also came to the rescue by calling the police promptly on my behalf without even my knowing what had transpired. While there is no question that I would always continue to be a client of this very talented team (even traveling from Westchester to do so), they all deserve to be recognized for being such a kind and loyal group. I was at Head Rush for the first time yesterday for a single process high lift blonde and blowout. I also have hair extensions. I was most impressed!!!!! I was told to go to Noah to get my boys hair styled for their Bar Mitzvah. Their first appointment was the day of the party and Noah did an amazing job. Now they won't go anywhere else. We've referred many people and they are all happy. He's an awesome person and stylist. The vibe in the salon is very cool and everyone is so nice. This review is for Tiago the stylist. Tiago is a GENIUS with his cutting shears. First off i am THEE MOST pickiest person when it comes to my hair/nails. I always find a flaw in the someones final finished work on my hair/nails (if not immediate then days later soon to come). After 19 years I finally found a guy who can my hair in a way that satisfies me. I don't think I ever even knew what I wanted. He told me what would work best for my type of hair and daily activities. For all these years I had layers, and he explained that that only looks good when its on hair that's blown out...not curled up and frizzy like mine, and since I don't blow my hair out he recommended I grow it all one length, and do angles in the front. I finally got my hair one length. I've never been more satisfied with his work. Tiago worked at Salon Opus for the two years that I was going to him and on my last trip to him explaining how much I love his work i told him if he ever went anywhere that he must let me no. Sure enough a few months later I got a voice mail from Tiago saying that he now worked at Head Rush. Tiago gets 10 stars as a stylist. I would give head Rush 4 stars. It looks very nice, and its clean. Your first time there they give you a complimentary makeup application which is awesome. I just think there overpriced :-( but then again they have the best hairdresser working there! read more

Erica had done an up-do for me last Saturday for a wedding I was attending. It looked great, stayed in place perfectly all night and I received a million compliments. I live in CT, but my boyfriend lives in Bayside and I spend a lot of time in NY. I'm so glad to have found a great salon in the area. Erica and the rest of the staff were super friendly and professional. I already booked another appointment for a wedding I am going to in August and I would definitely come back to Erica for cut and color as well. It's always a challenge trying out a new salon, but I was extremely pleased with everything...the service was friendly, the salon was clean & organized and most importantly I was happy with my hair! Head Rush does a great job. I have had my hair colored there quite a few times and I am always happy. They are a bit pricey, as everything seems to be ala carte, but I have gone to other salons for color and almost always have to go back the next day for a correction. That has never happened at Head Rush. However, I cannot give 5 stars because they are super pushy with products to the point that it is annoying. read more

Tina did an AMAZING job with my up-do for prom! It was the only one to stay perfect the whole night! I actually have an appointment today with Otto to get my hair colored. Soooo disappointed with this salon. Had Patti The colorist do her version of balayage and ended up looking like a skunk. The cost was 200 bucks for approximately 6 thick zebra stripes. Handled it very unprofessional and had a know it all attitude and had no interest in rectifying her mistake. No talent whatsoever. read more

This is my go to hair salon. The vibe there is so chill and not like any other places that are stuck up. Everyone is always so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Patty always does my color and never seems to disappoint me!! I don't know why certain people leave negative comments. It's straight forward you tell them what you want and they give it to you. Clearly if you have an issue with the results from this salon you're just mad you had to pay a few dollars! But we all know you get what you pay for. My 5 star rating is based on my overall experience at head rush and the outcome of my hair, however, while I was getting my head massaged at the sink - I thought to myself - I don't give a shit if they give me a purple Mohawk, this massage would be worth 5 stars! Really really and truly amazing, relaxing and wonderful. I meannn beyonddd :) overall the salon had such a great atmosphere. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Melissa did my color and I really couldn't have been happier with it. As confusing as I probably sounded while trying to describe what I wanted.. she really got it and I'm LOVIN IT!! The BIGGEST bonus about this place for me is the stylist Nick. I have curly hair and I hate going to places that give a straight hair- hair cut. Once my hair is dry it never falls right. Nick used to work at Devachan Salon (curly hair specialist) hair cuts there run me $300 dollars and I have to drag my ass into the city.. Having him close by is a dream! And I will be back. If u have curly hair u need to do yourself a favor and pay him a visit. Also, if u like bomb head massages and bad ass color u should go for that too. Love it. :) read more

i didn't think it was possible to have so much fun in a hair salon. i discovered Head Rush by following my favorite hair colorist Carly Giannini. She is a color genius, she tackles challenges with my hair that other colorists dare not touch, (and if they do, it never comes out to my standards). For example, a big part of my identity is having cool, snowy white blonde hair. it involves a LOT of attention, skill and care. It's very involved, and many salons don't want to run the risk of processing and damaging hair by trying to make it white. But every time Carly has given me a beautiful icy blonde hair that i love to show off. There is nothing she can't do! I usually go for a double processing, but last time she gave a full head of beautiful highlights, and they came out looking ethereal yet natural. I also met a wonderful guy named Michael who is the mixologist of hair products and gave me an amazing hair treatment to help my my hair "recover" from all the processing i have put it through in the past. He also gave me a beautiful blow out, i have NEVER seen my hair look as good as it did that day. Between Carly and Michael, i left the salon feeling so elated and excited i was shaking! (literally, i had trouble signing my name at the desk!) The staff was so accommodating, and so fun to talk to. As for the environment, it is very relaxed. you really feel comfortable and get the sense that everybody gets along and truly loves their job. it's not super busy or crowded, it's calm, and they play great music. ive been to other salons in the area and they're so busy and crowded it feels like an assembly line, but not at Head Rush. There were a few times while getting shampooed that i wanted to fall asleep because i felt so relaxed. You will NOT regret going to Head Rush! Go! Go! Go now! read more

I am a bit obsessed with this place...I'm a new woman since I walked out their door and this new woman never has a bad hair day, I swear! My cut is amazing and it compliments my face shape and more importantly, my lifestyle. After years of having this heavy, long hair Christine cut it just a couple of inches shorter and changed up my style but that was all the change I needed. Best haircut. Ever. I just moved back to LI and I used to come here all the time for blowouts. I donno what happened I think it turned into a barbershop/kids place? What happened to the pretty blonde owner she used to do my hair. I think it's new ownership. Got a blowout last week from some guy and it was just ok. They also tried to make me buy so much hair stuff really pushy! I just wanted a blowout not spend 150 on things I don't need. Not a great experience nothing to rave about anymore, I used to love coming here it's too bad. I wish I knew where the pretty blonde girl went. I Probably won't go back. I need a reco for a new salon I get my hair blown out once a week! :( read more
