We recently brought our daughters to Bella Luna for 'bold' cuts. The experience, from start to finish, was fantastic. The stylists clearly understood their young clients and wanted them to have both great haircuts and a great time. In the end, they succeeded on both fronts. She was so patient with me when explaining exactly how I like my nails done. I am super particular about my nails so when I say she's amazing- she truly is! Bella Luna Is the best Hair salon in the village of Roslyn. The new location reflects the awesome vibe that all the stylists provide. Everyone is so talented! Went to the nail salon for the first time yesterday and Anna was amazing. I came in for a gel manicure but decided to get French tips instead. She took her time to get my nails looking exactly as I wanted and even stayed late to finish them. Everyone there was really nice. Cannot recommend this place and Anna enough. I came in to get my hair corrected from a botched highlighting job at a different place. I felt my hair before looked gray and ashy and I felt I just looked drained out. I emailed Bella Luna at like 10 pm the night before and I had NO time to waste because I was going to an event early the next morning. Jane (the amazing receptionist) got back to me so soon. She booked me with Erica at 8:30 am and I walked out looking SO SO much better. It was a really hard thing to fix and she was so sweet and I was pressed for time and she did a great job. My hair looked much warmer. I am so thankful and grateful to the staff and Bella Luna for fixing my hair before my event!!! Def would recommend. Thank you Jane and Erica!!! read more

I was in town for a wedding and took a chance on this place because it has great reviews. I am SO thankful I did, because let me tell you I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. I first had my hair styled by Jill who asked me questions about my hair (I.e if it holds a curl) and really listened to what I wanted and did an amazing job. Next I had my makeup done by Fi and when she handed me the mirror to check out the final result my eyes literally lit up. I felt amazing the entire night thanks to these ladies. This is my first time writing a review on Yelp but I felt like it was extremely necessary to caution anyone thinking of coming for color. I arrived and was checked in for my appointment and introduced to my colorist, Erica, who immediately told me she had another client and would be switching between the two of us. I was a new client, I didn't choose who I worked with, if she was busy I should've been assigned someone else. But ok. We get rolling. She tells me she's going to naturally blend my roots and color with highlights and lowlights. I showed her a picture and asked if my hair would look similar and she said yes. Fast forward through the application and conversations she had with other employees while applying the color. The back of my head is washed and I continue to sit under heat. Finally my whole head is washed and it's time to get in front of a mirror. I was immediately alarmed at the difference in color between the highlights and my roots, so much so that the girl who had shampooed my hair called Erica over. I explained I was unhappy and she said, "oh no, it's just because it's wet." She and the other girl began to blow dry my hair simultaneously as panic set in for both myself and them. They finished drying and I said I was unhappy, that it wasn't blended and that I felt like a girl at my high school who was called the skunk for her chunky highlights. At this point, Erica insisted I was wrong and made me go outside with her to see my hair in the sun. We stood there for 5 minutes with her flashing a mirror at me and explaining why I was wrong and she was right. "See! It looks different in the sunlight!" Unfortunately, I spend 90% of my time indoors so the sunlight wasn't going to help me. We went back inside where she cornered me, took my phone and insisted that the photo I had showed her was the same as my hair, until people started to bump into us. We walked back over and she told one girl to "stop laughing it's not funny." I don't know, that seems alarming to me? By this point I was so embarrassed and upset that I just kept saying, "if you really think this is right then it's fine. It's fine." It wasn't until then that she offered to fix it, but after the 20 minutes of bullying I was so uncomfortable that I cancelled my blow out and went to pay. At the register they offered to fix it with another woman, but really how was I going to sit in front of Erica with another stylist and point out what was wrong? I want to completely reiterate how uncomfortable and embarrassed I felt. I paid and left, immediately in tears and feeling uglier when I walked out than when I walked in. I am now sitting at another salon, because they couldn't fit me in until next weekend to fix my hair and I couldn't go to work looking as bad as I did. The stylist here told me my hair was damaged and dry and that he didn't understand how they were in business if their clients walked out looking like I did. At $200 plus tip, I should've felt like a million dollars but that's just what I ended up paying. Book at your own risk. read more

I can be obsessive with just the right tone, with highlights, and she patiently tweaked until we found the perfect multidimensional shade. Add a cut/keratin, coffee and I'm set! Hi made an appointment for a color and got Erica to color my roots since I already had highlights. She was so cold and was busy taking to other employees while coloring my hair. After my color she didn't even come to check to see my hair or even talk to me on the outcome. after the blow out I noticed that she colored my highlights as well, I approached her and told her that she had colored my highlights black and she said she only colored my roots and I need to do my highlights again, I payed and left quickly feeling very disappointed. Upon entering Bella Luna, you are welcomed by smiling faces and friendly demeanor. This modest, yet beautifully decorated salon evokes comfort and charm and makes you feel as though you have been going there for ever. I am always offered a drink of water or a cup of tea before having my hair done, a small gesture that goes a long way. For a modern day salon, it is truly reminiscent of an old school neighborhood salon, where you can tell that the employees enjoy working there and with each other. I came across Bella Luna while searching for a Long Island salon that understands the complexity of curly hair, In particular, one where they know how to actually STYLE it curly, not just diffuse and scrunch into a frizzy mess. (Curly haired girls, you know this is hard to find, without going to a curly salon in Manhattan that charges upwards of $150 for a haircut.) After listening to my concerns, the receptionist paired me up with Paula. Paula is amazing. Not only can she cut a head of coarse, kinky curls, but she can finger sculpt style it like the pro that she is, as well as give a sleek, flat and frizz less blowout that lasts as long as you need it to. I have also had a blowout with Liz, who was equally as fantastic at getting my curls as pin straight as I liked in a remarkably short period of time. The last time I was there, Paula was not available to cut my curls and I was quite concerned. Getting a haircut for me has always made me nervous because most people do not understand that curly hair bounces up when it's dried. I was assured that Omeira, would be able to do the job. Omeira, relatively new to the salon, fit in with the professionalism and skill set of every girl there. She KNOWS how to cut. She listened to exactly what I wanted, from the amount I wanted cut off, to the type of cut I was looking for. It is so rare, to find someone who understands the nature of curly hair. Happily, I now have two girls in one place who I trust with my hair. Ladies, I highly recommend this place. Each girl there is great at what they do. They are personable, kind and knowledgeable. I am so pleased to say that I do not need to go anywhere else other then this professional, unique and wonderful little salon. read more

Shayna is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend her without ANY reservations. She's always completely honest with me with what she thinks I should do...and she's always right! I completely trust her. She's personable, fairly priced, professional, and does a great job! She cuts my hair better than anyone, and she does a great caramel ombré:)!! I have a hard time trusting people cutting my hair and I have had several hair salons. Shayna and all the girls I've seen at Bella Luna really know what they are doing. I lived in Huntington, but for a great cut and great color job, it is well worth the drive.
