Went to Salon Pop today and had my hair colored/cut by Sara. They salon itself was clean, busy, & cheerful. Staff were friendly and helpful. Sara was nice and easy to talk with about my hair needs. My color is very pretty and my cut great. She spent time making sure my cut was how I imaged and cut till I was happy with my decision over cutting bangs.I really liked this place and found it comfortable. Charge is higher than my last salon, who I also loved its just a longer drive since I moved closer to Salon pop thought I give it a try. Price difference was $150 so I have to decide if the drive/time is worth the convenience. Great experience. Oh, they gave me a first time customer gift which is nice. read more

I've been to Salon Pop four times. The first was a trim with Michelle in (I think) 2019. She did a great job. The second was a trim with Sara in Feb 2021. It came out well and grew out well, and I didn't return for a cut until recently, when I wanted to make a drastic change - chopping 10 inches off my very long hair. I went to Sara, because from my research she seemed more experienced in styling and was also at a senior stylist price point, whereas Michelle seemed to specialize more in color and was at a lower price point. Although money is tight for me, I really wanted this cut to be stellar. When Sara finished and styled my hair, it initially looked great from my vantage point in the salon chair. However, over the coming days, I noticed that it was cut VERY lopsided - I have center-parted hair, but she cut my right side curtain bangs MUCH thinner than my left (I had also asked for layers in the back that weren't there). I called and scheduled a haircut adjustment. Greenvale isn't around the corner - more like 45-50 minutes away, so definitely a schlep. I came back with my hair blown out as instructed. As Sara began to cut, I tentatively asked her about the back layer. She snapped at me in her response, which was pretty shocking (she's usually quite nice & chill) and it honestly made me feel uncomfortable asking her for anything else. It was pretty awkward because I just wanted to make sure I came out with a haircut I genuinely loved, and tbh while sitting there I just felt like I couldn't even speak up. Five seconds after that happened, she took a chunk of my hair on the left side (the already chunkier side that I was trying to have evened out) and chopped it off. I'm not sure if it was like, a revenge move or something? I wanted to be like "wait, stop, what the hell are you doing????" but she just seemed simultaneously annoyed and distracted, and I was worried that if I said anything, it would get even worse. I thought "okay, she's a professional and I explained my concerns already; I shoud probably just give her the benefit of the doubt here and let her do her thing." Bad idea. It just came out terribly. I'm really disappointed, because I spent $108 ($90 + 20% tip) on a haircut that is EVEN MORE lopsided than before I went in to try and fix the lopsidedness. Although I'm on a tight budget, I wouldn't mind at all investing in a cut that was amazing. However, I'm frustrated and peeved that I put my trust into a (supposedly senior) stylist that botched a (pretty simple and currently trending) haircut twice in a row. I'm not sure where I'll go after this, because Salon Pop WAS my go-to, but I simply cannot return somewhere that would let me down like this and make me feel awkward about it in the process. read more

it was december 19th, 2024- and i knew the following week we were going to have a lot of snow!.-so of course i panicked due to the xmas & new year's holiday's were coming around the corner quite fast..i must say!!.i had called all over the north shore salons...everyone was booked. my last call was at salon pop...and voila.. the receptionist gave me to speak to the manager lovely lorretta that explained they had extra hair stylist & colorists on staff!!. i was elated but, ms.lorretta said theyre's extra holday fees!!. well it was my fault for waiting till the last minute!!.i agreed & they gave me nicole-who used her magical hands-for my color that needed pow!pow!pow look!!..and then nicole made a suggestion to trim for now..in the future we will look for a style.outstanding performance!!. i went in not looking good to a cpr instructor for the american heart association ..yayyyy!. i'm very honored to be part of this establishment!!.as of today-1/17/2025- my continued services for color!!. deirdre linardos-and in greek we say "efharisto" which means thank-you!!!. read more

Everyone at this salon is sooooo nice! I was nervous going to a location like Greenvale for hair just because I thought it would be pretentious. I was so wrong. From check-in to check-out it was suuuuch a pleasant experience and everyone was just so nice and comforting. Stephanie did my hair color and blow out and applied the color with such care -- probably the least dye I've had on my hairline after getting a color ever! Perla (sorry if I spelled it wrong) shampooed my hair and was also a doll. My hair also looks amazing! The combination of glaze and dye Stephanie used is exactly what it needed! I thought the little welcoming box for new customers and thank you card in the mail was a great personal and professional touch. I've been coming here for 13 years and the service has always been exceptional. Sara has been cutting my hair for the last few years and she's absolutely wonderful. I've been going to salon pop for over 15 years now, along with my mom, sister, and grandmother, and they never disappoint! After being a loyal customer at Salon Pop for more than two years now, I am deeply disappointed at the rude reception my elderly mother and my young daughter have received there recently. Even after calling ahead of time to speak to the front desk person, to whom I have given plenty of business and with whom I entrusted the care of my mother, my mother was still matter of factly directed to her seat with no eye contact made between her and the receptionist. The manager started loudly talking at my mother unaware that her volume is tantamount to a yell and, therefore, grossly indiscreet and embarrassing to the client. While perhaps well intended, this manager has proven ineffective as my initial complaint about the stylist in question, who was rudely silent to my young daughter's questions on a prior occasion, failed to change the stylist's bedside manner for the better. When my 74yo mother sat in the stylist's chair for a consultation for what would be an expensive and time consuming procedure, the stylist could not answer her with respectful guidance, but rather offered my mother the same rude silence she gave to my daughter. The stylist could only grunt monosyllabic answers. My career physician mother left the salon in tears and felt deeply disrespected and sensed a bias in her poor treatment. Would Salon Pop have treated my dignified old mother better had she sported an entitled attitude to match that of the salon's? Rich or not, professional or not, the salon should remind itself that they are in a customer service profession where the customer comes first. Even after cancelling my mother's appointment and expressing my upset, I never got a call back from the salon manager or owner with an offer of apology. The owner recently renovated her salon but she needs to do the more important cleanup of the entitled and disrespectful attitudes and atmosphere in it. read more

I've been a client if this salon for over 8 years. They are always right in point with their services; offering the most cutting edge treatments. From the color, Jen is AMAZING, to my cuts/blowouts, Alyssa is the best, I have never been disappointed. From my experience, they always listen to me and manage to turn my vision into reality all the while keeping my hair healthy! Appointments are relatively easy when made in advance. The salon is very good about trying to accommodate you and I have had the colorist offer to come in early, on more than one occasion to do so. That's is not to say that all is perfect. For the two times that I required a correction, it was done quickly, efficiently and with minimal interruption to my schedule. I show up one Monday for my appointment to be told there was a scheduling mix up and they had me down for the day before and couldnt fit me in that morning. After 3 weeks of trying to reschedule, I decided on having to see someone else. While she was very nice, I still had roots. I spent $300 plus tip to get my hair done and went back 4 days later for another hour and a half without ever being offered a free blow out. Completely unacceptable. I had my first appointment at Salon Pop a little over two years ago. I was apprehensive, as the first time getting my hair colored elsewhere had resulted in a lot of tears and disappointment. I was referred to Simone and there are literally no words to describe how grateful I am that I made an appointment with her. I'm a natural redhead and it's hard to keep that color looking natural but she does it with ease. I am CONSTANTLY getting compliments on my hair color. I am getting married in a few months and when asked what I plan to do with my color for the wedding, I usually just say, "I don't know, whatever Simone wants to do." I trust her implicitly. Salon Pop itself is incredible as it has always been a welcoming, cheerful environment. All of the staff has been kind, making an appointment is a breeze, and being offered coffee, tea, and biscotti is an extra treat. They also encourage education which is something that I've rarely seen in salons over the years but is a vital part of why their team is so incredible. That being said, go to Salon Pop. I came here (for the first time - not the last) to get my hair done for my dear friend's wedding. now - I'm not...how do you say this...creativly inclined when it comes to hair. I mean, I brush it and all, and I'm pretty good with a flat iron, but if you were to show me a bundle of bobby pins and a bundle of hair pins, not only would I NOT know the difference, but I'd probably cry out of frustration. And don't even get me started on curling irons (why? why do you have this hot stick that burns my ears and forehead?) ANYWAY, I digress. My friend comes here on the regular to get her hair colored and cut, and blown out for special occasions. I, for one, love having a regular hair place to go to - I feel like once you find a place you're comfortable at, with hairdressers that know what they're doing - you should never, ever let go of it. So thats how we wound up here for her wedding. To start, the entire staff is incredibly friendly and accomodating. They opened the doors to their salon and came in early so my friend would have time to get the entire wedding party's hair done in line with her time frame. In the past, they've done incredibly thoughtful things for her (for example, taking care of her when her father passed away and she needed some time to breathe but didn't make the appointment far in advance, accomodating her mother to get her hair done when she wasn't very mobile, things like that) so I can't find anything bad to say about the people who own and work here. Secondly, one member of her wedding party was god awful late (ahem, wasn't me, I'm not an asshole) and they worked double time to get her hair done...without even remotely looking like it was done quickly. Now, my hair, like I said, I dont know ish about ish when it comes to hair styling, and my hair is sczitophrenic when it comes to how it falls (i'm talking wavy in some places, curly and fine in other places...thick and kind of straight - wtf were you thinking, hair Gods) and they KILLED it with my hair. I had no idea what to get done, and the girl who worked on me started messing around and gave me the most beautiful updo ever. now that I'm moving, and in the market for a new salon, these guys are at the top of my list (oh...the bride looked pretty good too, I guess. I live right near Wheatley Plaza and this Salon Pop has been open for a while. I always figured with the location that it would be over-priced, but I finally decided to try it. I got a GREAT blow-out from Daniela. I get blow-outs all over the place, and this was one of the best definitely; much better than Blow Bar in the city. And I was shocked at the price -- in a good way! They also gave me a little gift box for being a first-time customer, which including 20 "Salon Pop" bucks. My only issue was that I was a walk-in, and I had to wait 45 minutes even though it seemed like the place was empty and there were a lot of employees/stylists standing around gossiping (this was 1pm on a weekday). But if that 45 minutes meant I got Daniela, it was worth it. I will absolutely be back -- I might even become a regular. read more

I'm kind of trying out different salons in the area to find a stylist I like. I have super-simple hair to cut... yet I've had a hard time finding someone in this area who gets it right. Seriously, it's simple - long straight hair with bangs and some layering so it's not grossly flat. I have two requirements for a stylist: cut good bangs and understand that I really will not make an effort to blow dry it to make it fall just right every day. Don't push color and highlights and special treatments on me when my hair looks just fine the way it is. Sarah, a junior stylist at Salon Pop finally listened to me. She was fairly quick (I've had good and not-so-good stylists spend 45 minutes clipping and snipping away from every angle, and some great ones who take 10 minutes tops). I like a quick cut, no drama. I came out with a good looking cut and good bangs. And she understood not wanting to spend time on styling and did a simple blow-dry with minimal products. (Send me out with a poofy blowout that reminds me of my 90's teenage years and I'm probably not coming back.) My hair is looking sleek and swingy, and I like it. So I will most likely go back to see her again next time. Overall, it's an ok salon. Very big, and as others said, a young staff. Standard shampoo/condition, bright and airy in a good location. Sure, they try to sell products, but most places do, it's a business after all, so I didn't find it odd. And also as other reviewers said, it's not overly warm and friendly - I think maybe it's just that it's not neighborhood-y where everyone's been there 10 years and chatting about their kids in class together and other local gossip. Maybe you like a small neighborhood chatty place with ambient lighting, then this salon would not be for you. She was incredibly sweet and very professional and gave me one of the best hair cuts I've had in my two years here on Long Island. I love this salon and I am willing to make the trip here just for a good blowout. It's fancy schmancy, so if you're uncomfortable in that environment, get over it because the service is worth it. Tea and coffee with biscotti, as well as water with lemon are offered. I came here with a gift certificate for a $30 blowout and have come back many many times since. That is the price of a junior stylist, and to me they are amazing, so don't break the bank over someone more senior and more expensive. Horrible experience especially when I have come here numerous times from Queens. They clearly discriminate you for being not from the North Shore and will treat you like crap while they treat everyone they know like royalty. I have paid expensive prices for just a blowout and cut and have waited over 20 minutes till a hairdresser came to get me. The final straw was when I was stuck in traffic and called to say I was running late. Once I arrived I was told my appointment was canceled bc I was 10 minutes late. I would never recommend this salon to anyone. Maria who is supposed to be "amazing" there was extremely snotty on my consult but I just thought she was having a bad day and quiet. After questioning her as to if she was going to paint my hair to the root she gave the rudest answer to me. "I'm getting there, in an awful tone". Well she didn't get there. My hair looks horrible and even the girl blowing it out agreed. She then told me if I didn't like it to not pay and don't come back. Coming from a family in the service business this is horrible service! You are supposed to make the customer happy and she should have asked me what she could have done to make it better. I have been a hair nomad and over the years have routinely struggled to find someone who could help be have beautiful, low maintenance color and style. After my first appointment with Simone, I am converted to a forever client and here's why: 1) her consult is thorough and accessible. I couldn't even describe what I wanted but she got it. She asked all the right questions and took those answers and turned it into something perfect for me, 2) she is all around wonderful to chat with and goes the extra mile when you're in her chair, 3) she's a master at her craft. Her work is simply beautiful and consistently exceeds my expectations. She's always bringing new creative energy and it makes her amazing to work with. I have been a customer here for 8 years, but after today I will never return. I loved my hair stylist but after the way I was treated I will not return. I admit I was late but I called in advance and I was told if my hair stylist did not have time to dry my hair then an associate would. I get to the end of my haircut and my stylist tells me she doesn't have time so we can either not dry my hair or have an associate. I said that was fine we don't have to dry it. I get to the desk to pay one minute later and find out it's still the same price for a cut whether I dry it or not. Then I said ok then I'd like to dry it. They tell me that they do not have anyone to dry my hair and I'd have to wait 45 minutes. I said I could not and my hair would be dry by then and the right to do is offer me a credit for an associate to dry my hair at a later day. They would not offer ANYTHING. I am writing this horrified as I'm leaving the salon. I called for an appointment to get a haircut no one asked me what type of haircut or the length of my hair. I booked an appointment with a senior stylist.I came in excited with pictures of the haircut that I wanted which I've had in the past and I know my hair type.When I go to sit down in the chair everyone's very nice and friendly and then she takes my hair out of the bun and I show her some images and I explain to her I've had this before and I'm excited I want it again and she says to me I can't do this haircut I got to get somebody else to do it and she left me in the chair with my hair out for a decent amount of time and it made me uncomfortable.I'm on my phone trying to pretend like I'm not paying attention but I see the girls talking to each other and I guess they're trying to figure out what they wanna do with my hair .I am of Latino background and my hair is not Straight. My hair is wavy and thick and I have a lot of it and they just kind of left me with my hair sitting out for a while why they're talking and I just felt really bad. Second woman approaches me and asked me if I ever had the hair before and touches my hair and just kind of assumes like my hair can't do that she's like "you know you need to blow it out for that" And asked me if I've ever done it before and as I explain to the first stylist I already had this haircut before but she just made me feel like my hair was not suitable for that haircut and I didn't really like the way that both women interacted with me they made me feel like I was the problem or my hair was the problem. There was a third woman that approached me at this point I'm just feeling really discouraged and not wondering what's going to happen and she was more professional and she explained to me that they don't do those haircuts etc. I went out of my lunch break and took time out of my day to do this and they're like you can come back another day and that I wasn't specific about what I wanted they thought it was just a "" regular haircut". Not really sure what a "regular haircut" is because that could mean a whole bunch of things and I felt like they should've asked me from the beginning I assumed if I'm getting a haircut I'm not a professional stylist if I see a haircut I assume I'm gonna go in go with the best of the best and you're gonna know what to do with my hair. Your stand at some stylist are really good at certain things but they should've done that investigation at least when we were talking on the phone instead of making me sit there and making me feel bad for my frizzy hair and that they couldn't do that haircut and even if they did I would have to blow it out which is nonsense because I've had this haircut before and I have tons of pictures to prove that I can handle it I think that they made me feel so bad I never want to come here and get anything done. Very clean salon. Everyone is very professional. You are greeted as soon as you walk in. They take your jacket & give you a cape. They are very efficient. They wash your hair Immediately then bring you to your chair where they offer you coffee, tea or water. I met with Krystal today who did a great job on my haircut & blowout!
