The owner Tim Fiskis basically told me I was TOLD my hair would be red/copper (not true) and to fix it I would have to pay another $240 dollars. He refused to fix my hair and to give my money back. First I couldn't get ahold of the salon for multiple days not sure if they don't have a front desk person but I left two messages that were not returned also Way over priced and I was so unhappy with my cut I will never come back stylist did a terrible job not to mention seemed like she did not want to be there the entire time and was really rude when I turned down the recommended products (which were Redken and priced WAY higher then EVERYWHERE else they are sold) ended up finding another salon to fix the cut. Dylan did a phenomenal job on my hair! I wanted a vintage-style undo for my engagement shoot and he skillfully curled and pinned everything to perfection. It took him less than an hour from start to finish. I was getting compliments all night! The rest of the salon was equally professional and accommodating. I messed up a couple of my nails while getting dressed, and they set me up at the nail bar with a dryer so I could fix it. I came to Salon Herdis for a ladies afternoon with my best girlfriend. It was my belated Christmas treat for her, as well as myself. As a service industry worker, Mondays are my Saturdays, and I desperately searched for a salon that was reasonably priced while still looking good, that would be open for TWO back to back massage's along with some other service. This search lasted me at least two and a half hours. Finally, I stretched my search beyond Connecticut, and looked in Northampton, one of my most beloved Massachusetts towns, and I found Salon Herdis, conveniently on Main Street. The website looked decent with lots of pictures, so I called. The receptionist was super friendly and helpful, working with me to organize my last-minute girls afternoon. I was able to book appointments for everything I wanted to do, on the date I had available. Upon arriving for our ladies day, we had no trouble finding the place. The inside was bright and modern, and it was super quiet. I got my first pedicure ever, and I thought it was fabulous. The staff was so friendly, and made me feel super comfortable. I had a simple pedicure (my toes love purple!) and a one-hour Swedish massage, and my girlfriend had a same massage and a deep-conditioning treatment and trim. The massage therapist was calming and quiet, and the session was amazing. All in all, this was an EXCELLENT mini-getaway. The only suggestions I would have are to offer maybe a few more services to their guests, however they do have limited space. We had a wonderful time, would DEFINITELY return, and would love to recommend this day spa / salon to others. read more

I had a very disrespectful experience here. I went to the salon clearing stating that I wanted to go blonde and was coerced into getting partial highlights when the stylist knew the look I wanted to achieve required a full highlight. She gave me a false promise that "we could start off doing a partial and she could add more blonde later and do a full if it wasn't blonde enough" (keep in mind it's a $30 difference in price). After I asked her to add more highlights when I wasn't satisfied with the partial, she said she did not have time to do it and I could come another day to get another partial for another $200 (rather than than $30 difference). I was very unsatisfied and spent $250 for hair that was barely any blonder. I respectfully spoke to the manager over the phone and she was very dismissive of my complaint and was implying that this situation was my fault even though I was unfairly given a false promise. Her "solution" was for me to book an appointment with their least experienced stylist which was a "deal" because they have the cheapest rates. I decided to try this salon one last time, as it has been my family's usual salon, even though I have always found their results pretty average. I decided to try a new stylist, hoping I'd have better luck. I had a specific hair cut in mind. My stylist was nice and polite, but did NOT give me what I asked for at all. I wanted a layered cut, with light bangs. I was very clear that I wanted my layers to be longer layers, and that I didn't want my hair to be cut too short. She ended up cutting extremely short and blunt bangs, that were much too thick, and she also cut my hair to my shoulders. It was not anything like I had asked for or described, and I even showed her multiple photos on my phone for her to work off of. Very disappointed. read more

Salon Herdis is awesome! Had an incredible experience there yesterday. My 19 yo daughter decided to cut her very long hair off and go short. Carissa has never cut my daughter's hair and could sense how nervous she was. It was great the way they worked through the experience together. The really incredible part was watching the whole team at Salon Herdis come together to help this client walk out with exactly the perfect haircut. Some salons are filled with competition and rancor between the stylists. Carissa welcomed the input of her co-workers and even stepped aside and let another stylist handle her shears for a bit of the process. I was awestruck to see such teamwork in an environment that can often he competitive. The folks at SH were only concerned with making sure the customer was satisfied. And she definitely was. Big kudos to Carissa (and Alex) for making sure my daughter's haircut was just right. And huge congratulations to Linda Hannum for creating a salon environment that is filled with a supportive team. The search is finally over! After moving to the Pioneer Valley about two years ago I have yet to fall in love with a salon until yesterday. My hair is on the thicker/curlier side and finding the right hairdresser is not easy for me. Tamika styled my hair perfectly and revived all of my natural curls! I have very thick hair and was hoping that this salon would be able to work with it. I walked in and the receptionist was very nice. I did not have to wait long and the stylist was sweet as well. However, she seemed very confused when I asked her to pick my hair out before clipering it. I had to constantly remind her of what it was that I wanted (short on the top and the sides can stay the same). This made me nervous. I wasn't too satisfied with the cut at all. I have been satisfied with their other services! I get my eyebrows waxed here and the woman does a great job. I have also gotten a brazilian wax and it was the most painless experience. I wasn't going to post a review initially but I'm SO upset with my nails now that I have to. I want my money back. You can see in this picture that my pointer finger is now infected and how bad my cuticles look. My appointment was at 1:45 and I didn't leave until 3:50. It was ridiculous that it took that long for a dip manicure. And another thing! I asked for a dip manicure and it wasn't until the manicurist had started the base dip coat that she revealed they have limited dip colors so she was going to do a gel for the color. I couldn't say no because I had already been there for 90 minutes. But what the hell? It's fine to have limited colors but tell the customer that from the get go! Not 3/4 of the way into the manicure! I would've not gotten it done there otherwise!! I wanted only dip (and NO gel) because I wanted it to look like acrylic nails without getting acrylic nails. In other words, I didn't want it to look like a human being did my nails. She painted them on really gloppy. Plus, I hate gel. I just didn't want it. And claiming that doing a dip base and a gel top color "is still dip" is just INACCURATE! I already have some chipped color at the top, which I've never had with dip. RUDE OWNER!!! I had gone to Salon Herdis for a dip manicure while I was visiting the area and it was immediately clear that the technician(while very nice) did not know how to do the dip manicure correctly. She didn't want to wait for the previous powder to soak off so she roughly filled it off, leaving cuts under most of my nails. The finish then looked very uneven and after 2 days it already started to lift off, since she had put the powder on my cuticles and even skin on some nails. Normally this lasts me 3-4 weeks. That evening I decided to do something I had never done before and reach out to the salon via Facebook messenger to let them know my experience. The salon responded saying I could return and they could try again. But since I do not live in the area I let them know that I would prefer a refund. If the salon had replied with, sorry we don't give refunds, then I would have just left it and walked away. But instead I received the following response and was completely shocked!!! "this is the owner. Stop harassing my staff with your passive aggressive misery. You don't go to a restaurant, order dinner, eat the whole thing then ask for your money back (or do you)? You have the opportunity to come back for a complimentary service. That's the guarantee. Come back or don't. The amount of effort it takes for us to deal with people like you - we can find 5 new clients who are actually nice people." It is not okay to speak to customers this way!!! read more

Went here for a pedicure as it got good reviews. Finally decided to go and treat myself after a long time and it was my first. Even though the person who did it got great reviews she was very distant if not rude, not friendly at all. The rest of the staff were ok but not overly friendly. I have tried other places from time to time, but keep coming back to them because they always do it right. Dylan is an absolute sweetheart and does an amazing job. I made an appointment with Rebecca in conjunction with a promotion they were having for new clients. So glad I did! I met with Rebecca beforehand for a color consultation, and she had suggested ombre color, which I had just heard of a few days before. I was very disappointed in our experience at Salon Herdis. We were in town for my sister's wedding and my sister decided to treat her bridal party to manicures the day before the wedding which was a Saturday. We were supposed to have two people doing our nails, half way through my sister's manicure the woman said she had to go home because she wasn't feeling well. This left the one other girl to finish the entire wedding party. Don't get me wrong, the lady that did our nails was very sweet... I think she tried very hard to do a good job, but I must say it was the worst manicure I have ever gotten. I wish it was just my manicure that was messed up, but the whole wedding party had issues with their nails. My mom's french manicure was so uneven, and not even painted all the way. When my sister expressed her concerns about the manicure the lady at the front desk told her to address it with the woman that was painting our nails. I can not even believe that my sister paid for these services, as any one of us could have done a better job painting them ourselves. I asked for a small simple design on one of my nails, and it came out horrible. My nail polish was also very clumpy and has since chipped off not even 2 days after they were done. There was another girl that asked for a design on one of her nails as well. The salon did not have any drying lamps to dry our polish after our nails were done. All of us had smudged nails by the end of the night. My mom's nails were already completely chipped by the time of the wedding the next day. The wedding was on Sunday, and the salon is not open on Sundays. This left us all running around to CVS trying to find polish to fix the mistakes. As if the regular stress of a wedding is not enough. This was supposed to be a relaxing beauty treat. Instead we were all embarrassed, and spent most of our time taking pictures trying to hide our nails. I can't believe that even after my sister expressed her concerns about the nails, that she still paid for these poor services. It's a shame, because the salon is beautiful and most of the staff was very friendly. I cringe at the thought of the customer service though, and the fact that you would make your customers pay for something that they were not happy with, and did not even help in resolving the issue. She explained what had gone wrong with my highlights at the previous salon and went the extra mile to fix it and make sure my hair looked perfect. They do very good Brazilians. It's still painful but the girl who does it is very nice and outgoing. I was very disappointed in the custom facial they offer. I have had more thorough express facials in NYC. They did very few extractions (literally like 10) and completely missed my t zone. The lady booking my appt suggested the custom facial for the deep cleaning but it was nothing of the sort. I'm not sure if it's because the girl was young and maybe not as experienced as other people I have gone to but not sure if it's worth the risk of losing $$$ to find out if someone else there is better. read more

I really can't comment on the quality of services that the salon provides, because I had a terrible experience when trying to book several hair and makeup appointments for my wedding so I chose another salon. I called and spoke with Rose, who I was told was in charge of booking wedding services. She informed me that she preferred to communicate via email, which was fine with me. I was happy with the pricing provided, and asked her how prices would change if the hair and makeup were done offsite, rather than in the salon. I was quite surprised that she was completely non-responsive, especially since she had been quick to respond up to that point. After waiting for nearly a month (and sending her 5 reminder emails asking the same question), she emailed me back promising to get me an answer after speaking with the owner the following day. After receiving this promise, I emailed her 2 more times over the next week with no response, and finally ended up booking another salon. She did end up emailing me back more than 5 weeks after I posed the original question with a tentative answer, and the explanation that the owner had been dealing with a family issue. I understand that a family issue could take the owner away from the salon, but I felt that Rose was very unprofessional in her handling of the issue. I would have expected her to be able to answer my question in a more timely manner, especially since I would assume she handles offsite jobs when she is booking weddings. Bottom line, their services may be good, but it wasn't worth the hassle. I would have had a hard time trusting that they would have shown up to do hair and makeup for my wedding, since they couldn't seem to respond to an email. read more

I made an appointment for a facial over the phone ,only to find out after I arrived and paid for parking that they had not recorded an appointment for me. I made a new appointment for the next day. I was a new customer and they had an offer of $20.00 off for new customers with a purchase of over $40.00. Their basic facial is listed at $55.00. This is what I was expecting. I told the aethetician I wanted a basic cleanse. She did a great job but I was charged $50.00 including the $20 discount. I didn't want to put up a fuss,and I guess I should have asked, but when you are dealing with a new customer and are hoping for return business , hire people who know how to book appointments and inform people of exactly what you are getting for your money.
