Would leave 0 stars if I could. Go literally ANY where else. My husband went here expecting to get a clean trim on his medium long hair, and when he told the stylist (the red haired woman) what he wanted, she agreed and proceeded with the haircut. They agreed upon no clippers on the back of the hair, and only scissors on the top and back. He came out of the shop with a very short hair cut, and she did not even follow at ALL what he asked for. It was like she did a random haircut. My husband is now heart broken that this small haircut, which was supposed to be a clean trim, has turned into a whole new hair style, and not a good one at that. read more

Went to this place for a very simple trim. I just wanted a couple inches off my hair, which is a very easy task to do and have never had trouble at any other hair salons. I got a stylist named David. He first "washed" my hair; as in wetting just the top of my head and shampooing for about 4 seconds and rinsing for about 2 seconds, then going right in with the conditioner, which also took about 2 seconds and rinsing (once again) just the top of my head out. I do have very thick hair so many starting stylists aren't used to it, so I tried to understand and let it go. As I stood up from the chair in which I got my hair "washed" at, David asked to hold up a towel up my head, which was wrapped around my wet hair. I was having water dripped all over myself until I got to the actual chair. David didn't even wring my hair out before he began to brush my hair. He then continued to criticize how dry my ends were, even though that is LITERALLY the reason why I came in for a trim in the first place. I told David multiple times that I wanted my ends to be straight. During the cut, I told him that I didn't want layers anymore because he clearly looked like an amateur and I had ZERO trust in him. Towards the end, he hasn't even touched the front part of my hair, which I told him, but that was a HUGE mistake because now it looks choppy and unpleasant. David didn't know what he was doing at all and it was the biggest waste of $20. I honestly don't think he's a certified hairstylist and he doesn't deserve to touch people's hair. read more

Never again. I went for a quick and cheap cut and got exactly that for the advertised price of $20. What I was not expecting (besides my hair being cut way too short and unevenly) was being charged $30 to have my hair blown dry. There are no prices posted or quoted in this establishment and they handle all payments in cash with no receipt. I complained and they eventually offered me a free cut but only after I made a fuss. I turned it down because I wish to never set foot in that place again. Had they given me back my $30 in cash, it might be a different story. I went in a few weeks ago to to get my hair trimmed. I had never been to Bucci before so I didn't know what to expect. They took me almost right away and my haircut was super easy (just three inches off) and came out looking nice. I expected that my stylist would wash, cut, and dry my hair, but I had to ask her to blow dry it. She told me that it would cost extra not realizing that it was $30 for her to dry it! The whole thing ended up being $45 which is about ten dollars less than if I had gone to a legit salon. I went to pay and handed them my card only to learn that they only take cash. When I told them I didn't know, the man was rude and rolled his eyes, saying that this is how Bucci had always been. How was I supposed to know? There were no signs anywhere to warn me. Luckily I had enough cash on hand. Would've been nice to know beforehand so I could have gone somewhere else. read more

I have been coming here for years, driving up from Ct because I always got a consistently good haircut for my very straight chin length simple hair. This time my cut was done by a new guy, young with many tattoos. The cut came out OK, but he ended the cut with my hair dripping wet combed straight down over my face, you know like someone who has bangs but I don't have bangs...my eyes were covered, he asked "how does that look" and I said "good for what I can see" and he walked away, oh but not before removing the apron, dumping hair all over me and never wiping my neck off. I had 2 choices, walk back the 3 blocks with my hair looking ridiculous or using the scummy public hairbrush . I don't think I will be going back again. Had my first Covid era haircut this afternoon, was getting pretty shaggy with dry ends. I had shampooed in the morning, so the haircutter just sprayed water on my hair as she cut sections. I was the only client for half the time, only one other 20 feet apart when halfway through. Happy with the result, took 15 minutes (I have easy straight hair). Experience felt really safe, and I feel for the employees there, with volume way down. A new haircut really gave me a needed lift. I discovered Bucci in my first year of college, having been spoiled by expensive-ish salons but wanting to break from that pattern in the interest of being a little more fiscally responsible. Before I continue, let me say that I am not picky about my hair. In recent years it's been varying degrees of short. I always tell the stylist that they can do whatever they please, as long as it looks good and it's easy to maintain/repeat should I decide I like the style enough to try on my own. (Stylists seem to really like this attitude; I've had more than one thank me in the past for letting them "play.") Anyway. I went to Bucci twice and never had to make an appointment. Both times it was mid-afternoon on a Monday -- that probably helped. Both times I went in with my usual request. Both times I warned them about my cartilage piercing with the earring I couldn't remove (tiny screw, tendinitis, etc. etc.). Both times the aforementioned earring was pulled and yanked until my ear was purple. Both times the end result was disappointing and my hair didn't look much better than it did going in. Yes, it's ten dollars (actually, it's twelve now. I went when it was still ten.) Yes, you get what you pay for. Perhaps a barely improved haircut and a purple ear are what $10 buys me. Here's my advice: save your pennies for a place that does the job right for a little extra. read more

I just had the most unsettling experience at Bucci. I called to find out Tran's schedule on Monday, and was told she'd be in Thursday, Friday and Saturday. So I went in today, Friday, and she's not in. "She's never here on Friday!" Monique told me. Every time I tried to say something after that, she cut me off, raising her voice, and speaking in a patronizing tone. The other young woman--blonde, short--kept chiming in with defensive comments. (She didn't even know who Tran was, and said "Tram?") I asked Monique if people could be reminded to ask if they don't know the answer to a question, and she yelled out, "I think everyone heard that, right?!" When she called me "Honey"again, I asked her not to patronize me and left. I came home and cried. I work in customer service, and no matter how wrong someone is, I never try to make them feel bad. If a mistake has been made, I apologize and try to make the customer feel better. Monique made me feel like that kid in the schoolyard. Her behavior was really not in line with the "happy valley vibe" advertised on Bucci's website. I still recommend Tran, and at $14, Bucci is still a bargain; but don't expect any more than that. read more

But I noticed the razor was sharper than usual on my head, the next day my girlfriend pointed out the scabs on my scalp. Years ago I used to go to Bucci for haircuts. At the time it was fine. Eventually it became clear that everyone who went there got the same cut. Now, years later, I have returned. Good news, I don't think it has the same issue with everyone getting Bucci'd. When I decided to return, I read all of the Yelp reviews so I would know who to ask for and who to make sure I didn't see. I showed up with my list in hand and saw whoever they gave me. Two of three times, it worked out well. I can't remember the first person's name (but she had positive comments on Yelp). Second, I saw Lindsey and got a GREAT cut. I had brought a picture with me. She said it was a great cut for the type of hair I have. I tried to see her again but apparently she is off this summer So, today I saw someone whose name, I think, was Tran - a man (I think I saw a Yelp review that mentioned a female Tran). I brought the same picture with me and I ended up with a terrible haircut. My son sometimes gets his hair cut there. When I told him of my experience with Tran, he said "Yeah, I am not a fan of Tran." Consider that another down vote. Not much more to say on the subject. I will go back but I will only see Lindsey. Why pay more? $12 hair cuts. (The price apparently has gone up from $10, but who's complaining?) Find a stylist you like and connect with here, and call to request them if you want more personalized service. I have always been happy here, minus maybe one rushed and less than stellar cut (according to me... everyone else loved it). But that's maybe out of 25 cuts I've received there. I've never had any unprofessional experiences here of the nature some have mentioned, and for the most part the staff will take extra time to listen to my concerns and take time to tweak things and get it right. I don't know how they do this and get paid enough, so I try to always give great tips. It's very easy to get a walk-in here quickly. I always ask for Sam, who is fantastic, but others here are great too. My biracial daughter has very curly hair and I believe she usually sees Monique (not sure of name). They are great with her curls, too, which many have screwed up in the past. I have very short, baby-fine hair with a lot of cowlick action, and I'm often disappointed with haircuts. I've had better cuts here at this amazing price than I have at expensive salons I can't afford, and it's nice to be able to get my hair cut every month instead of every four months when it starts to look awful! The only time I'd recommend going anywhere else is if you are going to a special event where you need more attention and time on your hair. This is a casual haircut place, but what they do, they do well. For the record, when I lived in the NYC area I used to go to Astor Place hair, which is well known for its affordable and stylish haircuts. Bucci is way better, in my opinion (and way less attitude, as well). Bring cash! read more

I've been going to Tracy Willard at Bucci for a couple of years now and give her my highest recommendation: she rehabbed my hair after an unfortunate haircut by another stylist that'd left me slightly traumatized. Hair is so emotional: what I love about Tracy is that she is very calm and on the level but also sensitive. I trusted her when I wanted to experiment going from all-one-length, which I'd had for *years*, to trying layered ends--I had been admiring Tracy's layered hair for a while and finally got up the nerve to go for it on my own because I knew she would do a good job. She is a rare combination of skill, professionalism, compassion, and someone who will tell you the truth if you have a question. Cant beat this place for a quick and cheap haircut. It's not the fanciest, but it gets the job done. For $12 you can get your hair washed and cut. They wont blow dry it for you but they have a blow dryer that you may use if you like. Ask for Melissa. She Rocks! read more

Reading some of the reviews here while I was waiting (a quick 10 minutes tops, and it was pretty busy) made me a little nervous, but Sam did a great job and I left happy. I haven't spent just $15 on a haircut in years, and the quality of the cut I got wasn't noticeably different from when I pay 1.5-2x the price. I appreciated the wash before the cut and didn't mind needing to blow-dry out the little hairs after the cut. Nothing fancy, but Bucci did the job! read more

Honestly, I couldn't have asked for more the last time I came here. The woman who cut my hair (I forgot her name) was very professional and efficient. She had an opening, so I got my hair cut immediately after I walked in and the cut itself was pretty speedy. My hair is short and straight in texture, so I just wanted a trim and was very pleased with the results. I actually forgot that Bucci was cash only and didn't have any cash on me, but my hair stylist was very accommodating and let me walk out of the store to grab cash from a nearby ATM with no questions asked!! I was in and out in 25 minutes. The lady who cut my hair was professional and understanding. She gave me advice (that I took), and kind without being fake. She washed my hair, cut it perfectly (i love my haircut!!) and then I used the blowdryer in the back real quickly and was out in no time. I would never recommend this hair salon to anyone I know. I had the absolute worst experience both with the results of my hair and the customer service following. I had shown the stylist three pictures of the desired color/style I wanted, and not only there is not a single color on my head that matches one color in the pictures, but my hair is falling out in chunks! The color is so far off what I had asked for, and I have never been more disappointed in a hair salon. When I had told the stylist the color of my hair prior to the appointment and the desired color I wanted, she told me that it would be no problem, only to find out after my disastrous dye that she was very unqualified to ever dye someone's hair. Had she told me she believed that it would be a difficult job/something she did not think she could manage, I NEVER would have had her touch my hair. Sam, my stylist was extremely rude when I called after to speak to a manager. After refusing to give me the managers contact number, she gave me an extreme amount of attitude, claiming she "highly doubts my hair is falling out." I hope the manager/owner contacts me soon. I used to do the pricey salons.....but still did not get a haircut that was right for me. So I gave up and started going to convenient lower-end places in Holyoke Mall area. Found someone who seemed to understand what I wanted in the beginning, but it deteriorated into unflattering chop of the day. So far I've had three haircuts at Bucci, and I love my hair! If you let your stylist know what you're looking for, they will work with you. Of course I've only had two different ones so far, but they have been great. I only ever went to Bucci while I was a student at Smith. I would go to Michelle. She was great with my hair (lots of it, not necessarily thick though). She would give me really great layers and was really friendly. I tried going to one of their other stylists once and was a bit disappointed (although my friends loved my cut). Im guessing the cuts are only $10 because you have to blow dry your own hair and they dont really pamper you like they would at a more pricey salon. That was fine with me. read more

While walking my dog around Northampton, I notice, $12 haircuts. I figured, if the haircut was really bad, I can always hide in the confines of my one bedroom apartment for three weeks until my hair grew out. I sat down and got a haircut from Monique. She used to manage Bucci years ago but moved to Atlanta for a few years so she just got back to Bucci Northampton recently. She does a great job with my hair, has some funny stories to throw in there, and always seems to get things right. I've never had anybody else from Bucci cut my hair so I can't recommend anybody else, however, I went to Monique every 3 weeks for the past year and have walked out each time good to go. read more
