I used to love Emily, but I haven't found someone who can consistently give a good haircut since…read moreEmily left before COVID. I have often left The Lift with hair cut so unevenly that I have had to even it out myself at home. My son just got his hair cut again after his last one there, and the new hairdresser pointed out that there was a huge difference in length between the R and L side over his ears. Sadly, after a decade as a loyal customer,I won't be returning to The Lift.

Heartbroken Bride - A Cautionary Tale for Anyone with Textured Hair…read more On October 4, 2024, I had my hair done at The Lift Salon by Justin, a stylist I had previously trusted. As a South Asian woman with thick, coarse hair, I made it very clear that this appointment was for my wedding day. What should've been a joyful, exciting experience turned into a months-long nightmare -- one I'm still dealing with in June 2025. The salon is very much a white-centered space, and while that shouldn't matter, it clearly did. Just because I have thick hair does not mean it's okay to bleach it to the lightest color possible without any real conversation about the risks involved. As a stylist, it is your responsibility to inform your client of potential damage -- especially when working with textured or ethnic hair. Had I known my hair would end up gummy, stringy, and permanently compromised, I would've never agreed to this. I even voiced concern during the appointment when I noticed the gummy texture. Justin brushed it off and told me it would feel like that for "just two days." I trusted him -- big mistake. After the first wash, my hair was a sticky, breaking mess. It was completely ruined. Since then, I've spent months trying to repair it, and I'm still not even close. When I reached out to the owner, Cristol, hoping for accountability and understanding, I was met with nothing but ego, gaslighting, and attitude. Her exact words were: "But you loved your hair and walked out with a smile." I told her: "I didn't even realize how damaged it was at the time -- check your cameras, I was trying to bring it up to Justin during the service." Instead of listening, she cut me off and said, "I will not have you come back into the salon. I'll just refund you. You can go to my friend, Carve Beauty, to get your treatments done." I was in tears. I had just paid $600 for a service that destroyed my hair and left me completely heartbroken -- and she had the audacity to ban me? As if I'd ever want to go back. You couldn't even pay me to return. Update - End of June 2025 This photo shows the current condition of my hair -- still gummy, breaking, and fragile despite everything I've done to try and fix it. Funny enough, I didn't find Carve Beauty on my own. Cristol -- in the middle of kicking me out of her salon -- actually recommended I go there. The irony? Carve turned out to be everything The Lift is not. At Carve, Tina, one of the owners, was professional, kind, and truly empathetic. When I told her what had happened, she was genuinely appalled. I ended up doing around six intensive treatments at Carve and purchased their molecular repair treatment to continue care at home. And still, after all that, I'm left with long-term damage. If you want a salon that will actually listen, respect you, and treat your hair with real care and knowledge, I cannot recommend Carve Beauty enough. Go to Tina for anything major or corrective -- she's amazing. And for regular styling, ask for Abby -- she's just as talented and sweet. Skip the arrogance. Skip the gaslighting. Skip the damage. Go where your hair and your voice are respected -- go to Carve.

Tonight was my very first appointment with Torrie and it will definitely will not be my last. She…read moreis the most personable nail stylist I have ever had. I went in for a mani and pedi and absolutely loved the relaxing and calm atmosphere she has created in her own space within the Hair Station. I've been to the salons with the spa pedicures and all I can think of is germs and fungus. No worries with Torrie. Even the basin for her heated, massaging foot tub is disposable. And although it's not something I need, with this type of foot bath she is both handicapped accommodating and accessible. Her nail art is fabulous. I always want fun but still need to be professional and subtle and she blended the two perfectly!!! Thank you Torrie! I will definitely be back for another wonderful experience!!!

This is one experience I'm truly on the fence about. Let me start with the 'pros':…read more Torri, the sole proprietor, is extremely nice and very friendly. The atmosphere, while different than what I'm used to, is quite homey, (but if you go to the bathroom be prepared for a rather testosterone filled atmosphere. She shares the bathroom with an auto body shop). If you're lucky enough to get serviced when the salon itself isn't open, no other customers will be there since Torri is a 'one-girl' show. (She rents her small space from the hair salon owners). Another pro (or it could be considered a con depending on your point of view and time constraints), is Torri takes her time with you. You won't feel rushed. Now for the 'cons': Torri doesn't have the amenities one might expect when receiving a professional mani pedi, such as a massage chair, a whirlpool foot bath (it's basically a large Tupperware type tub) or even a nail drying station. She doesn't use any tools other than a wood stick to push your cuticles back...no cutting of cuticles whether it's the back or side of your nails, so if you need that done you may want to ask her about it before booking your appt. I found the area along the sides of my nails to be in need of attention and had to do it myself once I got home. There isn't much in the way of massaging that takes place, whether it is your feet or hands, something I've come to expect at this price point of $45 (I've even gotten more when I've paid half this amount). As previously mentioned, she takes her time which is good, but it took more than an hour and a half which is a lot considering no trim work was done, and very little in the way of callous removal....maybe ten seconds on each foot. I'm sure Torri has her license, but it wasn't displayed and her work lacked the confidence one might expect from an experienced technician. I admire women who start their own businesses with little to no start up $ and I want them to succeed. She is no exception. It is for that reason I hesitated to write this review, but perhaps if she reads it it might help her improve her services.
