The salon is clean, tidy, and stocked with a variety of good-quality products that Caren neither under- nor over-uses. Caren actually cut my hair dry first (something no one has done before, but something I'll inquire about from now on) and only once she was mostly done washed, did a little tidying, dried, and VOILA: I have a haircut that settled perfectly day-of and, more importantly, has settled perfectly every day since. I'm low-fuss when it comes to my hair (I wash with a little shampoo and ton of conditioner, and maybe use little leave-in coconut oil before air-drying, but that's about it). Caren's cut works perfectly for my normal minimal-maintenance days, and frames my face more nicely on days when I play a bit. Best yet, Caren's cut cost half of what a comparable job in San Fran would cost! If only I could take her back to the Bay with me, I'd have Caren cut my hair forever.

I asked her to chop my very long hair off for me, and she did. For ten years I came here exclusively to see Kendra for haircuts and updos for special occasions. I have dark hair so I was already nervous about doing this dye job- I called and spoke to Chelsea twice on the phone in the week leading up to my appointment, and she assured me she could get me to icy blond. On the morning of my appointment I even brought in pictures of the color I wanted and confirmed again that it was possible- and again she said she could do it. Three hours later she told me I was done- when my hair was just a lighter shade of brown with yellow highlights- nowhere CLOSE to the color in the pictures. When I told her it still looked brunette to me, she told me "to get to the color you showed my I would have to cancel my next appointments. . .". My thought was, then DO. If you tell me twice on the phone AND in person that you can get me to a certain color, you don't let me leave with a totally different, streaky color. . .I cried when I got in the car, and ended up getting my hair dyed back to black that very same day. In Vici's credit, I have been going to them for eight years to get my hair cut and have never had a problem. Arlene is especially nice at cutting my hair. But I would never ever recommend anyone has their hair dyed by Chelsea- if she couldn't have gotten my color correct, she should have told me that from the beginning.
