The salon is clean, tidy, and stocked with a variety of good-quality products that Caren neither under- nor over-uses. Caren actually cut my hair dry first (something no one has done before, but something I'll inquire about from now on) and only once she was mostly done washed, did a little tidying, dried, and VOILA: I have a haircut that settled perfectly day-of and, more importantly, has settled perfectly every day since. I'm low-fuss when it comes to my hair (I wash with a little shampoo and ton of conditioner, and maybe use little leave-in coconut oil before air-drying, but that's about it). Caren's cut works perfectly for my normal minimal-maintenance days, and frames my face more nicely on days when I play a bit. Best yet, Caren's cut cost half of what a comparable job in San Fran would cost! If only I could take her back to the Bay with me, I'd have Caren cut my hair forever.

Caren is a lovely person; however, the last time I went there she decided to cut my baby hairs on the side of my face (I'm not white, so I tend to have quite obvious baby hairs) and honestly ever since then they have been a total nightmare to deal with; just 10 times worse. Never went back.

Caren is super awesome! Definitely be coming back

DISCRIMINATORY/ILLEGAL/RACIST BUSINESS PRACTICES AT SANDY'S BARBERSHOP:…read more This barbershop openly refuses to cut African American men's hair. Typically when barbershops engage in this kind of discriminatory behavior they try to do it covertly. Here at Sandy's---they are open about their refusal. I came into the barbershop to get a standard men's shave. I am quite literally bald headed, so I made it clear up front that the only service I would need is a standard shave of my beard. I was told, "We do not cut coarse hair." Never mind the fact that the hair on my beard is no "coarse" than any other human being's hair, simply being a black person rendered me illegible from receiving a haircut. The incident occurred with the shop's owner. After I highlighted the fact that discriminating against certain male customers for standard, public services (like a shave) was unacceptable--the store's owner/manager decided to lecture me about how this was not "about race." The gaslighting was disgusting, and the establishment is a complete dump. On my way out, the pitiful owner had the nerve to ask me "not to come back." The only reason I would be returning back---is to bring my lawyer. Moral of the story: if you are reading this and you are a client of color, you should take your money elsewhere. This shop has a racial discrimination lawsuit on its way.

So very happy to come to a salon with an incredible amount of talent. The whole team is very passionate about what they do, and are very up to date in the newest styles, hair painting, and even fashion colors. The building is in a prime spot overlooking Amherst common and has the perfect bright-but-Earthy balance in its design. I have been following many of these artists over the last few years and it's wonderful that they have all teamed up to create this amazing space. McKenzie is the stylist who takes care of me, but you cannot go wrong with anyone you see. Find their Instagram pages for the proof!! The ladies are all super friendly and make you very comfortable. As a single mom, I get the perfect salon experience each time I come - I get to relax and laugh and gossip with other women and I leave feeling so refreshed and beautiful each time. McKenzie is super talented. We always do something different with my hair, and I'm never disappointed. She has a great range and is honest about what she thinks will be best with my personal hair. She also fixes my eyebrows each time I come in and we all know how important those are these days!! I get compliments for days on them. This place is quickly growing in popularity so make sure you check it out and get your appointments made. Their prices are below what other city based salons charge but the high quality here is beyond comparison!! read more

I can't say enough good about the salon and Kiersten. She saved my hair ! I called on a Sunday - I was not a client yet.
