I have been a client of Salon Edda for 12 years. When I knew my favorite hair stylist ever, Scott Montgomery, was leaving I knew immediately who next I would choose. I had watched Martha's work and her interactions both with staff and clients. She always thanked the staff who assisted her-a very important quality to me. With clients and now with me as her client she is calm, kind, thoughtful, warm, and very very personable. She is empathetic not normally a quality you would make note of in the capacity of hair stylist but think about that quality. A good reason to choose a person. Martha and I are very simpatico and it is my observation her personality is such she aligns so easily with whomever she interacts. Please think of Martha should you visit Salon Edda. You will be glad you did! The next person I want to mention is Emily. She has not been long at Salon Edda's but she makes an impression. She too is warm and personable and when Martha does not have time for a blow dry I always ask for Emily. Her work is perfect. I believe the staff makes Salon Edda a special salon. John was an excellent listener and adjusted the color formula as well as the process to suit my unique requirements. He's great at his job which is why this was one of the best hair color appointments of my life! He's also such a great conversationalist. In the spirit of continuous improvement and for a 5/5 client experience, I would recommend to the owner team to split the overall tips with all the staff according to their work, so everyone is equally motivated. The second member who washed and shampooed my hair specifically asked me to separate the tip between stylist and washer if I wished to do so. Michele gave an amazing salon experience, and I don't say that lightly. I have a very sensitive head and I've always equated getting my hair done as painful and just something that has to get done, but Michele made the whole process relaxing!! I didn't think that could be done! She is so personable and easy to talk to that the time flew by. I have been going to Salon Edda for more than 10 years and would not let anyone else touch my thick, curly, course hair. I always leave with a smile and Awesome Hair. The staff could not be any nicer if they tried. Always professional, polite, and patient (for me, so important. Edda runs a tight ship, and a immaculately one too. My hair had barely hit the floor when someone is like Rosie on the Jetsons, cleaning up the hair. They always have great music playing (not too loud) and although all of these things are fantastic, I go drive all the way there from Rogers Park because the care and talent that Edda has for my difficult hair is worth it! I had not had my haircut since I moved to the city many months ago so I was in search of a salon that could become my home base. There were so many options in the area so I was extremely glad to have found Salon Edda. The booking process was smooth; I was greeted by a very friendly employee on the phone who helped me set up my appointment. I received 15% off for being a first time client! The staff welcomed me at the salon-- which was decorated so tastefully -- and asked if I wanted a beverage. My stylist, Erin, was very informative, personable, professional, and efficient but thorough. I only got a few inches off and some layering, but Erin took the time to explain the process and check in with me along the way. I loved the end result and enjoyed our conversation as well. A couple weeks after my appointment, I received a handwritten note from the owner, Edda. I have never been the recipient of such a kind gesture from a business, and I have always believed that a small, but personal touch makes a huge difference. I had a no chip French manicure done here about a month ago at Salon Edda and it was what I asked for and a lovely experience. It lasted about 3 weeks- perfect timing. I don't want it to last much longer since my mail growth would be too far and it'd look odd. My nail technician was friendly and professional. The version of manicure I asked for didn't have the bells and whistles - but I walked out with beautiful nails at a decent price for here in Chicago. I believe it was about $38 because I got a French Manicure- usually would have been $35. I had a good experience- and would go again. read more

This place is PHENOMENAL. Gorgeous interior, refreshing atmosphere, and superior service. I've been here twice for a no chip mani. Front desk staff took my coat when I entered and helped me check in with a smile even though I was running a few minutes late each time. Parajedes and Gricel went above and beyond on both the design (wish I had photos!!!) and quality of my manicure. The salon owner is super nice (you can tell it's a great place to work) and the front desk staff are efficient and will take time to walk you through a the most convenient appointment time and best fit service for you even if that takes several phone calls! When my friend recommended Martha from Salon Edda, I definitely had high hopes but didn't realize the amount of perfection Martha strives for. I went in to chop my hair and get a balayage, and Martha went a step further--discussing what my vision was and how to make it look beautiful with my hair texture and skin tone. Im updating my review because I noticed someone found this "useful" just in the last day or two. I'm sure Salon Edda is a fine salon, but I'm not very familiar with it at this point. I was a regular here when it was Natural Elements, prior to its rebranding, but my stylist left this salon over a year ago so I haven't been here since then. Went to Natural Elements salon for the first time and will be coming back! First, the salon has the coziest, cutest atmosphere. The holiday decorations were pretty, and the whole salon felt like a cozy cottage. The service was fantastic - I was offered a variety of different drinks by the girl at the front desk, and everyone was very friendly towards me. I came in for a balayage and blowout with Martha, and she was fantastic! She gave me a beautiful, chocolate-caramel color which is exactly what I asked for. It looks natural with my dark brown hair and adds so much more warmth to my face. The balayage exceeded my expectations and I'm so happy with the results! Griselle gave me a terrific pedicure, nice massage, and very kindly added a polish change so my hands would match. She went out of her way to give ''em a quiet place to be on a phone call. The salon's priority on premium customer service is made evident as soon as you step inside, and are made to feel so welcome with a warm greeting and offer of beverage. Their pricing and discount offers are highly competitive for a Lincoln Park salon, and I was pleased to receive a great price for being a first-time customer - significantly less than I normally pay for a Chicago haircut! Many salons make you feel rushed through the process, as if you and your hair are on the factory floor assembly line. Lather, rinse, repeat. Here, the clients are known and called by name, and the atmosphere of people chatting and asking about each other's lives lends the overall cozy feel that you are in a place woven into the fabric of the neighborhood. I know that personally, my favorite part of any hair appointment is the shampoo, and Salon Edda delivers. Maybe for you, the cut is ultimately the litmus test for a great experience. I chose Natural Elements because it is a) close to my apartment, b) has great reviews, and c) when I called to make a last-minute appointment, the girl on the phone was extremely nice and quick to fit me in two days later, which I know is really difficult for a lot of salons! I made an appointment for a balayage and haircut, and she set me up with Nate as a stylist. I also appreciated the confirmation call later on in the day to solidify the appointment. My slot was at 10:15, and I think it was right on the dot that Nate took me to his chair. I brought pictures to show how I wanted my balayage to look, and he was very up front with me that what I was looking for would cost a little more than the price I was originally given over the phone. I appreciated that, because I've gotten my hair dyed a lot over the years, and this info is rarely disclosed. I know people are doing their jobs, but you gotta let a girl know! Nate did that for me, and I appreciated the heck out of it. :) Nate took great care to make sure my hair color was given enough time to process, brought me coffee while I waited (which he did not have to do, because his job was to just make my hair fabulous, but he went above and beyond with the hospitality!), and made my hair look exactly how I wanted it to look. I even went hardcore and got bangs for the first time in years, and he was very careful to make sure that I was pleased with my cut before he let me walk out the door. I haven't gone to a salon in a long time where I really considered coming back, because though most of the salons I've been to have been great, not much charm has stood out to me like the one from my hometown that I used to go to as a teen. Update on my review from a few months ago: Nail services: definitely worth checking out. I didn't know at first they had a nail salon but it's tucked away in a cute downstairs area. It's small, but cozy and comfortable and since it is small, it feels pretty private. Many of the times I've gone to get my nails done, it's been just me, which feels like I have my own private salon! Also, my hair is still growing out great, even though the quarantine and not being able to get my regular trim. Thanks Edda! And they did wellness calls for all clients!
