It felt like she was upset with me from the beginning and the more I opened my mouth the more upset she became. She was extremely rude and rough with me, when I asked about her commission she'd earn for the service, out of curiosity but also because I worked in a dog grooming salon before and understand the grind/want to support other salon workers by tipping well. She told me she was uncomfortable answering which I apologized for making her uncomfortable and remained silent. But after that she would roughly pull my hair and demand what I wanted in a very curt manner. I asked for her advice for an alternative when she told me the hairstyle I wanted wouldn't suit me, but instead of offering one she just kept asking me to tell her what I wanted very angrily. I normally am not talkative as I am very shy and anxious, but I wanted to get out of my shell and practice my English and my social skills, and was very upset with the reaction I was met with. It was not my intention to insult or offend the stylist, but I don't believe that was a mature or professional way to respond to an innocent question, which i apologized for asking. There was no need to be rough with me. I still paid the full price of $85 despite leaving looking like a mess and without the hairstyle I wanted and specifically went to this stylist to receive, only got my hair washed and a trim on my edges. I was going to let it go as the stylist told me she'd just started a couple weeks ago and I understand everyone has hard days, but the salon made an instagram post the day after about "being besties with your stylist is the best" and prioritizing making a safe space for clients. it upsets me seeing posts like this when I had to go to the salon across the street due to how antagonistic Liz was. Something that most hair salons were not able to 100% achieve in the past. As I walked into the salon I was confused. There was no one to greet you and instead was a large screen. A stylist came and offered me a seat. She took a picture of my hair, asked me a couple questions and then she took me over to the large screen and showed me the color she was going to achieve. She proceeded to mix the ingredients according to the apps direction. She applied the color, told me how many minutes I had to stay with the solution and never came back. lol When the time was up, another person came and asked me to walk to the sink station so she can wash my hair. The shampoos smelled great. Then she showed me the self service for the blowouts. My initial stylist never came to check up on me, or even see if the color matched the initial consultation and the salon was definitely not busy. There was no one to check you out either. I used the iPad by myself and paid for the service. I am not sure if I would trust this place for highlights, but for an easy overall color application and grey coverage it's not a bad idea. I don't think I would pay full price for this service however. I would only go back with a discount.
