I used Salon Dumbo as a stop on a marriage proposal treasure/scavenger hunt and they were AMAZING! Everyone was extremely communicative. They had a stylist and makeup artist who were incredible. On top of the amazing job they did, they also helped me make sure she was out at the correct time for the marriage proposal. The stylists are good here, but I would never go here again. They're complete scammers. They take your credit card and charge you deposits that don't come off the price of the service when you check out. They also wouldn't honor the sale price and the owner is a big jerk. Avoid. read more

I genuinely love Salon Dumbo! Everyone there is so incredibly kind and talented. I always look forward to going there! Chad is absolutely amazing! read more

Diego is great and very professional and a great stylist. The salon is also beautiful and right in my neighborhood!

Amazing haircut every time, great prices, and I love talking with the stylists. Been going for years and will continue to do so.

Recently, I've had horrible luck with my highlights/color. I had a really bad hair color about 4 months ago at a different low end salon. I asked a friend who she recommended and she told me to come to Salon Dumbo to see Diego! I made an appointment two weeks in advance and SD kept updating me and reminding me about my appointment date and time. I love this feature! It's wonderful they keep their clients updated especially when there is a no show fee (ask about this over the phone when you book). When I walked in I was greeted warmly and offered coffee, water, or sparking water. Later while I was waiting for my foils to set, she brought me a water and another coffee. I really appreciated that they do this. You are spending a lot to get your hair done and the complimentary coffee and water was absolutely wonderful - a lovely touch to make their customers comfortable/get the best bang for their buck. Diego spent 90 minutes alone washing and drying my hair. He gave me an amazing hair cut that gives my hair so much movement. At the end of our appointment, I was immensely emotional. Because of my previous bad experience, I was worried how my hair would turn out. Diego exceeded expectations. I'll get my hair done by Diego for as long as he'll have me. Until next time!!! read more

Love love love this place. Serena was able to schedule me for a quick wash and dry and was so understanding and helpful in doing it when I had my lunch break. She is compassionate and talented two things you don't often find in nyc salons! Thank you Serena! read more

Love my new iridescent, blue gray hair color! Chad is my favorite hairstylist of all time!!! I love everyone work there! We love you Jose!!!

Diego is the best!!! Perfect haircut and blowout every time. The salon and overall service is all amazing

Everything about this salon is perfect and Rodrigo is an ARTISTE! I'd gotten highlights maybe three times previously. The last time was about five years ago. None of those experiences changed my life and I never felt like maintaining the upkeep. However, my hair has NEVER LOOKED THIS GOOD, so I will certainly be returning to "Rod Hair God"! Note, I'm not really one to chat while getting my hair done and Rodrigo, while being incredibly warm and friendly, also let this perpetually tired mom feel free to scroll and snooze silently in the chair. I also love their website, especially the chat function. Booking and asking questions were a breeze! A final note: My blowout at the end resulted in the beach waves OF MY DREAMS! I'll definitely be back just for that in the future! read more

I was in desperate need of a haircut and made an appointment with Diego. He did a fantastic job on my cut and style, not to mention a delicious shampoo and cranial/sacral conditioning treatment! He's amazing at cutting and you can see that he was trained very well and loves what he does. Nice salon and people were wonderful. My new salon and Diego is now my stylist!!! read more

I have big curly head () and I came here for keratin treatment and my experience was just AMAZING. I have done it with both Rod and Chad, and they were both very skilled and professional. They spent time to explain me how it works and what is good/ bad for my hair after doing keratin treatment. They were very nice and patience during the process and spent a lot of time and effort on my hair. It's my first time ever writing review for any hair salon because I'm picky and my hair is kind of complicated. But I'm so happy I finally found somewhere to come with confidence read more

Yes, I went to Salon Dumbo bc I needed a blow out for a video shoot. The booking online was convenient, and Diego was great. I can't compare the blow out with the one I was used to in Brazil but it was good anyways. It was quick and the price $55 was ok. The location on Washington Street is great for me, as I live nearby. Thanks!! read more

Haircut was good but hairdresser was coughing into her hands and touching my hair. Good vibe in the salon, way overpriced for the simple cut I got but I understand everyone has their worth. read more

I've been going from salon to salon looking for someone with talent and who cared. Or at a minimum didn't over process my hair. Tracy listened to me and did a great very custom job on my hair and she didn't break the bank! Thank you!!! I will be back. 2 stops on the subway. Shockingly quick ride from TriBeCa. read more

I went here on a whim today as I work in the area. Best decision ever! Since they were so friendly over the phone and accommodating to my time preference same day, I was really looking forward to my appointment. The location is beautiful right in the heart of Dumbo, and the service I received from Kinga was top tier! She didn't rush through any part of the service (wash with nice head massage, full haircut with razor detail/blow dry/ aftercare recommendations) yet still got me done during my lunch break and...this might be the best haircut I've ever had! I couldn't be happier and I'm already looking forward to my next appointment. Thank you so much! read more

Great service and wonderful environment!!Very professional, clean and accommodating. Both color and blow dry were spectacular!!

SDQ is now Salon Dumbo -- call it whatever you want but I got the best hair cut with Brenna this afternoon! The have a Monday "express cut" special which is $35 for an excellent cut. Brenna was able to finish my sentences because she so knew exactly what needed to be done to update my overgrown long bob (at this point just medium length hair ;)) to exactly the length and texture I needed for a light, layered look that won't frizz into a triangle. Will be back in the next couple weeks for color. Thank you! read more

Amazing speed, quality of cut, cost and kind people. I live in the hood and have always gotten my haircut at bumble or David mallet, always paying over $200. I needed a super fast cut and decided to bite the bullet w salon dumbo. I got a cut by Diego and he was super fast, knew what I wanted, cut exactly like the photo and left it half wet so I could leave asap for an appt. The entire process was 30m and exactly what I was looking for. Def going back! read more

David does an amazing job on both of my kids. He makes sure that our kids look just as stylish as us adults -- it's not easy to get those perfectly straight blunt bangs when your client is squirming around, eating potato chips and watching Octonauts on her iPad. David is a professional and great w the littles! And the desk staff are always welcoming and accommodating. All around an A+ operation and highly recommend! So thankful to have them in DUMBO :) read more

started with covering my roots and walked away with a complete hair color change. The following weekend I had to stripe the toner that was done get a new natural looking color base and highlights. complete waste of money and she was rushed to ensure she got home would not recommend @all read more

Was in a time crunch so couldn't go to my usual spot, just wanted a clean up trim and style. Decided to try Dumbo Salon...mistake. My initial appointment request was with the senior stylist. They called just before my appointment and told me the stylist cancelled so they were putting me with someone else. On arrival I was clear to say I wanted to maintain the length of my hair with long layers. The girl knew I was in a rush so throughout the cut she didn't check in with me, she just kept saying "just trust me" as she chopped away. Needless to say I left with a terrible blunt long bob (like I had in third grade) that could've been done at Supercuts. Never again. read more

I have been coming to David for haircuts for almost ten years, and he never fails to disappoint. Despite my moving out of the city a few years ago, I still make a point to book an appointment with him when I'm in town because his work is that good. I have always been over the moon with my haircuts and color because he takes the time to understand what I want and knows how to execute it in a skilled and stylish way. I was so happy when he became the owner as he brings so much experience and skill to the table--plus he's a nice person and a joy to chat with. Though I'm less familiar with the work of the other stylists, I see happy clients in their chairs all the time. This salon is such a gem in Brooklyn and it is a genuine pleasure to go and get my hair done there. Thanks all! read more

Fantastic service, great space and location. Thank you, Chad, for making me feel fabulous for a super chic Brooklyn wedding!

Very nice job by Chaquilia. I was just an out of town walk in for a blow dry and she did a beautiful job

Dumbo - with David - is my go-to salon when I am in NYC! Not only the salon is cozy and beautiful, but David has a real sense of his clients, and wants them to feel fabulous, and truly themselves. My hair is specifically difficult as I curl randomly, and when I met him 12 years ago, I was desperately looking for a good stylist as I had no time to go see mine in SF before leaving for a wedding. And our hair love story began... I really appreciated also that even if David thought he would probably never see me again, he took the same care of me as he did of his regular clients. Little did he knew actually we would still be in close touch so many years after! David is patient, quiet, and fun at the same time - the perfect hair therapist. And a great colorist too. read more

I wish I could write two separate reviews for one amazing experience and one AWFUL experience but overall this place deserves a killer review. Rebeka is beyond talented. After several bad colors at another salon, I had kind of given up as my old colorist made it seem like my stubborn gray hair was the issue. I went in just for a blow out and I immediately knew that this woman was talented and could fix it so I scheduled an appointment. I decided to start the summer with a color, cut and keratin. It is absolute perfection. I never imagined my color could look this amazing again. I now feel a confidence that I can walk in and say, "whatever you think!" I totally trust Rebeka! David the new owner is service and beyond. Love him! Lucie is an absolute nasty person. Do not go to her. Doesn't listen and then blames the customer. Deserves worse review than this but I don't want to insult the other amazingly kind and talented professionals that work there because of one stuck-up, ugly person who doesn't know what the hell she is doing. read more
